    - by Joshua McGinnis
I'm looking for help with posting my XML document to a url in VB.NET. Here's what I have so far ... Public Shared xml As New System.Xml.XmlDocument() Public Shared Sub Main() Dim root As XmlElement root = xml.CreateElement("root") xml.AppendChild(root) Dim username As XmlElement username = xml.CreateElement("username") username.InnerText = _username root.AppendChild(username) xml.Save(Console.Out) Dim url = "https://mydomain.com" Dim req As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create(url) req.Method = "POST" req.ContentType = "application/xml" req.Headers.Add("Custom: API_Method") Console.WriteLine(req.Headers.ToString()) This is where things go awry: I want to post the xml, and then print the results to console. • Package and Publish Web Sites with TFS 2010 Build Server

    - by jdanforth
To package and publish web sites with TFS 2010 Build Server, you can use MSDeploy and some of the new MSBuild arguments. For example: /p:DeployOnBuild=True /p:DeployTarget=MsDeployPublish /p:MSDeployPublishMethod=InProc /p:CreatePackageOnPublish=True /p:DeployIisAppPath="Default Web Site/WebApplication1" /p:MsDeployServiceUrl=localhost Does all the work for you! Unfortunately these arguments are not very well documented, yet. Please feel free comment with pointers to good docs. You can enter these arguments when editing the Build Definition, under the Process tab and the Advanced section: If you’re working with these things, I’m sure you’ve not missed the PDC 2009 presentation by Vishal Joshi about MS Deploy. A few links on the topic: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2636153/where-is-the-documentation-for-msbuild-arguments-to-run-msdeploy http://blogs.msdn.com/aspnetue/archive/2010/03/05/automated-deployment-in-asp-net-4-frequently-asked-questions.aspx http://www.hanselman.com/blog/WebDeploymentMadeAwesomeIfYoureUsingXCopyYoureDoingItWrong.aspx

  • DIY Sunrise Alarm Clock Sports a Polished Build and Perfect Time Keeping

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
We’ve seen our fair share of sunrise simulators, but by far this one is the most polished build–everything from the atomic clock circuit to the LEDs are all packed cleanly in a frosted acrylic case. Renaud Schleck, the tinker behind the build, describes the guts: This is an alarm clock simulating the sunrise, which means that a few minutes before the alarm goes off, it shines some light whose brightness increases over time. The alarm clock is built around a MSP430G2553 microcontroller compatible with the MSP430 Launchpad from Texas Instrument. It features a DCF77 module which sets the clock automatically through radio waves. • Windows Phone Resources from //BUILD 2013 Conference by Lee Stott

It’s nice because filtering to this event and finding Windows Phone sessions on Channel9 is not the best and this is a great snap shot of all of the sessions you can view from the conference in one page. Also shows that Microsoft although focused on Windows 8.1 at this event, still had a sizable presence of Windows Phone Developer topics at this event. • Ms Build publishing vs Visual Studio IDE publishing

    - by reggie
I am currently working on ms build to publish my winform application based on the environment selected (Dev or Prod). I am using Ms Build Community Task and referencing this article to achieve this purpose. I had a few theoretical doubts based on publishing application. 1) Is there any difference in publishing through the visual studio ide and msbuild? 2) What do most developers prefer to use and why? 3) What are the advantages of using MsBuild to publish an application as compared to publishing through the visual studio IDE? 4) What is faster? I am using a .net 3.5 winform application developed in Csharp and my question is pertaining to clickonce windows applications only. Please help me clear these doubts

  • genetic algorithm for leveling/build test

    - by Renan Malke Stigliani
I'm starting o build a online PVP (duel like, one-to-one) game, where there is leveling, skill points, special attacks and all the common stuff. Since I never did anything like that, I'm still thinking about the maths behind the level/skill/special balances. So I thought good way of testing the best/combo builds would implement a Genetic Algorith. It'd be like that: Generate a big portion of random characters Make them fight, level them up accordingly to the victories(more XP)/losses(less XP) Mate the winners, crossing their builds, to try to make even best characters Add some more random chars, emulating new players Repeat the process for some time, or util find some chars who can beat everyone butts So I could play with the math and try to find the balance where the top x% chars would be a mix of various build types. So, is it a good idea, or there are some other easier method to do the balance? PS: I like this also, because it sounds funny

  • Which kind of public sitemap should I build for a search based navigation site

    - by Noam
I have a search based navigation web-site. Each query has filters as well as sort-by. The search results point to end-pages inside the site. Each of those pages has many outlinks to other end-pages. Currently I have a XML sitemap which directs crawlers to all the end pages. I'm trying to add a silo sitemap directory to improve SEO. Assuming this is the right direction I have a couple of options: end pages sorted alphabetically. Pages by major search filters, and then divide alphabetically. Pages for every filter and cross option between them and the sort-by. Which would you recommend and why? NOTE: I'm not referring to a XML sitemap.

  • C library build system dependencies

    - by Ninefingers
Hello all, This debate has cropped up on a mailing list for a project I'm involved in. Unfortunately we're quite a small bunch at the moment, so I want to ask a wider audience. We're writing a C library (for arbitrary precision arithmetic) and are investigating build systems. Currently we have a bash script in desperate need of work. I believe we can't use autotools etc due to licensing (bsd vs gpl). So I suggested we use a modern scripting language like python or perl. The question is: is having something like perl or python around at build time an unrealistic dependency on Unix-like platforms these days?

  • Mouse scroll issue after kernel build

    - by Anish S Kumar
I have a Intel Cedar Trail netbook. For graphics to work, i had to build kernel 3.1 with the drivers. I followed the steps in this document After doing that, now my graphics is fine, but my mouse scroll does not work. Is that because I have not build the kernel properly? Have i missed selecting some options in the kernel compile menu? It will be nice if someone can help me. Also my wacom bamboo tablet is not recognized, i have installed the xserver-xorg-input-wacom drivers.

  • How to compile and build fast in Visual studio 2010

    - by anirudha
Sometime Project have included many thing with a project.suppose a ASP.NET MVC project maybe included Test project for the project you run or have some more project who attach to the current project. it's take a long time while project is going to debug the reason for that is because project have many subproject or attached project then compilation of all maybe goes long. the solution is that build and debug current project instead of all. it's same time on compilation in Visual studio. for configure build only current project you need to configure it in Visual studio. click on the button and select Configuration manager choose the project who you currently worked and unchecked all other. After that Visual studio debugging goes faster.

  • /build folder used by PEAR

    - by Paul
I've just noticed a root directory (/build) which I can't seem to find any information for. It looks like it's some sort of staging ground for PEAR (PHP). There are only two folders of different php versions in it, and each of those has a few PEAR tar files I've installed (via the PEAR command line). I'm really only asking this question because I find is strange PEAR (and only PEAR) would create its own root directory to store files. Is this normal? Does Ubuntu provide a /build directory for applications to use?

  • Build git on embedded system

    - by naive231
I want to build git on our embedded system and I got git's source code from here. I run ./configure tool with following arguments: ./configure --build=arm-eabi --host=`uname -p`-`uname -s`-`uname -o` Configure tool runs, and returns an error says: checking whether system succeeds to read fopen'ed directory...configure: error: in`/home/git-1.8.0.2`. I set necessary environment variables like CC and CXX to our tool chain already, so ./configure complains nothing about compilers. But I have no idea about that error message. It looks like some permission problem, but I have full permission of /home/git-1.8.0.2 for sure. Any idea ?

  • How does one build Mono with only the ECMA covered parts?

    - by Zifre
I'm trying to figure out how to build Mono without the patented, non ECMA components, such as Winforms. Miguel de Icaza said that Mono would be split in two, so that we could build only the parts under Microsoft's Community Promise. It doesn't seem like this has happened yet. Is there any way to do this yet?
