• Convert my aspx page to png image

  I am generating an aspx page which then I need to convert to png and store it somewhere. A similiar situation with mine was asked before here but got still no response. I tried also the code that the Swapnil Fegade has asked but the code is looping continually making request to loading page and no conversion is actually being done. I found some solutions on the web also but they require WebBrowser control which i understood can be used in windows form but i am building a web project. Can you give me any hint or suggest any article that shows a full example doing this task. Thank you guys in advance.

• Word 2010 for writing invoices, starting with XML

  Hello, we are doing quite some invoice generation, and so far it is based on some pretty awful word automation that is now in for a review with Word 2010. I would love to move to a XML based format for storing / presenting invoices, only going to a word document in the last stage. This means I can use easily othermeans to present an invoice internally from the XML. We use Word as "last stage" because Word is a lot better than anything else ever discovered for formatting - our invoices have quite some text sometimes, in the invoice item table, and word is smartest with handling page breaks in the "correct" way. Now, here my question: is there any proper way by now to do this with XML easily? I remember Word having (had) in 2007 some XML field mapping mechanism, but it did not handle tables in the XML. Was anything changed? What would be the proposed approach for generating an .docx document (starting with a .dotx templace) for an invoice, if the relevant data is available in XML form?

• Range validation not working properly in MVC3

  I am generating data validation javascript in an Asp.Net MVC 3 application with the following code [DisplayName("Latitude Degrees")] [Range(0, 90, ErrorMessage = "Latitude degrees must be between {1} and {2}")] public Int32? LatitudeDegrees { get; set; } on a view model. When it was MVC2 this worked just fine, if I entered a value outside of 0-90 in the textbox I got the validation warnings. Since I moved the application to MVC 3, whenever I put any value into the texbox, legal or illegal I get the validation error appear next to it. I have EnableClientValidation set to true and UseUnobtrusiveJavascript is off (nothing in web.config or the views to turn it on).

• Mac updated just now, postgres now broken

  I run postgres 9.1 / ruby 1.9.2 / rails 3.1.0 on a maxbook air for local dev. It's all been running smoothly for months, (though this is the first time I've done development on a mac.) It's a macbook air from last year, and today I got the mac osx software update message as I have a few times before, and my system downloaded approx 450mb of updates and restarted. It now says it's on OSX 10.7.3. Point is, postgres has stopped working, when I start my thin server (mirror heroku cedar) as normal, and then browse to my rails app I get: PG::Error could not connect to server: Permission denied Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/var/pgsql_socket/.s.PGSQL.5432"? What happened? After browsing around a few questions I'm still confused, but here's some extra info: Running psql from command line gives same error I can run pgadmin 3 and connect via it and run SQL no problems Running which psql shows the version as /usr/bin/psql I created a PostgreSQL user back when I got the mac (it's always been on lion) I've no idea why, almost certainly I was following a tutorial which I neglected to store in my notes. Point is I am aware there is a _postgres user as well. I know it's rubbish, but apart from a note on passwords, I don't have any extra info on how I configured postgres - though the obvious implication is that I did not use the _postgres user. Anyone have suggestions or information on what might have changed / what I can try to debug and fix? Thanks.   I am building a project in asp.net 4.0. My navigation will be database driven where i return a datatable from the db containing all the pages of my site, some will be top level while others will be children and sometimes children of children n-times. Im thinking of going down the nested repeater route and databinding from code behind, dynamically generating repeaters for children, but have read that this is not a best practice and should consider the listview control. Im wanting to build a list of links using an unordered list. I cannot find a solid example and was hoping for some pointers/ideas. Thanks Doo

• How secure are GUIDs in terms of predictability?

  We're using .NET's Guid.NewGuid() to generate activation codes and API keys currently. I wonder if that poses a security problem since their algorithm is open. .NET Guid uses Win32 CoCreateGuid and I don't know it's internals (possibly MAC address + timestamp?). Can someone derive a second GUID out of the first one, or can he hit it with some smart guesses or is the randomness good enough so search space becomes too big? Generating random keys have the problem of collision, they need a double check before adding to a database. That's why we stuck with GUIDs but I'm unsure about their security for these purposes. • User-unique .vimrc file for servers as root user

  I'm getting thrown into an IDE war at the office, where multiple users have root access on our servers, and like to have everything their own way with VIM. Unfortunately, we have our servers locked down enough to where if you want to do anything, you need to have root access. Obviously (although this is obviously frowned upon), we get tired of typing sudo before each command we type, which would require that we constantly type in our wonderfully complex passwords that are mandated on us over and over again, so naturally we all just execute the sudo su - command upon login to avoid all of this. Of course, when it comes to VIM and custom .vimrc files, we are often times stepping on someone else's custom .vimrc file, and we have some whacked out functionality in these files that users have that may overwrite functionality that we have no idea about, much less have the patience to learn either. When as root on a linux box, is there any way for all of us to still maintain our .vimrc file without having to overwrite the file over and over again every time someone wants to use VIM? Ideally, we have many virtual machines all with VIM installed, so a universal solution across all servers would be best, and we do have our Microsoft Windows user specific home directories mounted on the servers under /home/username. Any recommendations for accommodating this?

• Can a Windows Domain play along with a Hosted Exchange service?

  I'm setting up a computer network for a small (10-20 people) company. They are currently using a Hosted Exchange service they are totally happy with. Other than that, they are starting from scratch (office doesn't even have furniture yet). They will need some kind of file sharing server set up in their office. If I set up a machine as a file server and nothing more, users will have three passwords to deal with: local machine, file server, and email. If I set up a Domain Controller, identities for local machine and file server will be the same. But what about the Hosted Exchange server? Must the users have a separate email password, or is it possible to combine the two? (I realize it might depend on the specific hosting provider, but is it possible?) If not, it seems like I have these options: Deal with it: users have a separate email password. Host Exchange on the local server: more than they want to manage in-house? Purchase a hosted VPS, make it part of the domain, and host Exchange there. (Or can/should a VPS be a domain controller?) I realize I have a lot of questions in there. The main one: is there any reason to use a Hosted Exchange service if I'm setting up other Windows services?

  This should be easier! (both computers can see the internet etc so I know the network it’s self is working) I have a normal home network with a Windows XP machine on it and the new Windows 7 (64 bit) machine. So I can transfer the files to the new Windows 7 machine, I wish to share the complete disk (and all files) from the Windows XP machine and access them from the Windows 7 machine. Is there a step by step set of instructions for doing this anywhere? So fare I have: put both computers into the same workgroup put the windows 7 machine into work network mode so it can see the XP machine in the work group shared the XP disk as read only But when I try to access a lot of the folders on the XP disks, I am told I am not allowed to access them. (I was not asked for any passwords by the windows 7 machine when I accessed the XP machine. The XP machine just has its default account with no password set on it) The XP machine runs XP home and hence has "simple file shairing" turn on. So it seems that even if I create a admin account (with password) and connect with that account, it still comes in as "guest" on the XP machine. Chooseing to share the folder I want access to rather then the top of the disk drive seems to work, but is a pain as I need to share each user's folder with a different share name. If the new computer was not a laptop, I would just plug the hard disk from the old machine into it, but being a laptop I don't have that option.

• Capture KeyUp event on form when child control has focus

  I need to capture the KeyUp event in my form (to toggle a "full screen mode"). In that case, I don't get the event at all (also tried OnKeyDown - no luck there either). I could handle the KeyUp event from the child control, but the controls on the form are generated dynamically, and there may be many of them - each having many children of their own. Is there any way to do this without generating event handlers for every control on the screen (which I certainly could do with a recursive function)?

• Samba share will not connect (was working yesterday)

  I have a CentOS websver with a Samba share set up (\\webserver\websites). I was connected to this share just yesterday without issue, but today my Windows 8 PC will not connect to it. I've also tried making a connection from Windows 7 and Windows XP, all without success. I initially tried restarting my computer, but that did not work. I then tried restarting the Samba service on the webserver (service smb restart), and when that failed I restarted the webserver. All of that was to no avail, and I still cannot connect to the share. The webserver is contactable from my PC (and the others I tried), as the websites it hosts work fine and I'm able to Putty to the server. When connected to the webserver, I can see that Samba is running by using service smb status - service smb status smbd (pid 4685) is running... nmbd (pid 4688) is running... Can anyone please help me to get this share working?   I have the following tables: users (id, username, ... ) roles (id, name) roles_users (user_id, role_id) I am wondering how I can create a nice sort of user-role-grid from that which an admin can use to administer roles to users in a clear way. What I would like is basically a table full of checkboxes sort of like this: Login Editor Admin Alice ¦ ¦ ¦ Bob ¦ ? ? Carol ¦ ¦ ? [Apply] Generating the table isn't too much of a deal, but I am very unsure how to handle it when it comes to how to name all the checkboxes and especially how to read and update the database in a not too clumsy way. Does anyone have any good advice or pointers on how to do this in a mostly clean way? I'm using the Kohana 3 framework, if there is anything there that can make this even easier, but I of course welcome any answer.

Extremely unlikely as all this started after packages update a colleague did and some separate services started screwing around but my colleague said he removed the offenders. Theres more: while # mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables is running one can access the data tables, only with the valid passwords! So there's users and some authentication takes place hence the 0 rows affected above. Can the privileges tables be damaged somehow and how can I recreate/restore them when my only way of getting a mysql console is to skip them? Can I spare my reinstall of MySQL? Either way I did get a dump of the DBs now that I could get in with the above mode.

• Problem with Silverlight/wpf in scrolling html div.

  Hi all, I have a Silverlight object sitting at the bottom of a scrollable div. This object is submitted to a wcf backend via a javascript button. The problem is, as the silverlight is at the bottom of the scrollable div it is not viewable until you have scrolled down. This is generating an error when the javascript button is clicked ( if i havent scrolled down ) awfully strange, or am i just an idiot :/ if i scroll down so the silverlight object, so it is in view it submits just fine. The error i got is an alert type error which says : The parameter value must be greater than zero. Parameter name: pixelWidth This seems to be returned from the wcf service. What could cause this?   I am having some issues finding a decent tutorial for generating a loading style screen with regards to HTML5. To be quite honest I'm not sure exactly where to begin... My project is essentially a simple HTML5 game, where I'll be loading in various sprite sheets and tilesets. They'll be reasonably small, but I'd like to show a little loading spinner instead of a blank screen while all the resources are loaded. Much appreciated if somebody could point me in the right direction, be it decent links or code samples to get me going...my Google-fu is lacking today!   Hello, I'm using JAXWS for generating webservices and serving using EndPoint.publish() as well as deploying war file, but as soon as it has served 100 requests it wouldn't return 101st response. How to configure JAXWS to change this count to unlimited? EDIT: solution found, first of all it was not related to JAXWS and I'm sorry for posting it here, in my first impression I thought problem is with JAXWS but after deep exploring and debugging I found problem with my persistence layer (Hibernate) where max number of sessions allowed are 100 by default. Sorry again for making you guys to think which actually does not make sense.

• Creating a unique key based on file content in python

  I got many, many files to be uploaded to the server, and I just want a way to avoid duplicates. Thus, generating a unique and small key value from a big string seemed something that a checksum was intended to do, and hashing seemed like the evolution of that. So I was going to use hash md5 to do this. But then I read somewhere that "MD5 are not meant to be unique keys" and I thought that's really weird. • Solution to combine two submit buttons.. doing two different things from the same input

  I am trying to figure out how to combine two different forms, both require the same input but they do two different things. One form sends a request to the ecommerce platform to get the order status, and another form takes the same order number and returns a tracking code from USP or USPS. I am looking for some guidance on how I could combine these two actions.. one is currently using the POST method and the other GET. Here is an example .. so one is This one runs a validation script to confirm the order number is valid and then returns the order info if it is the second form is sending a get request to an asp file that is generating the proper tracking numbers. Can someone please point me to how I could begin to tackle this?
