• Revert F3 and F4 behavior in byobu?

  With a fresh 12.04 installation of Ubuntu, byobu's interpretation of the function keys seems to have changed. F3 and F4 will still change the active tab on the current session, but it changes it for all connections. Previously, if you have two active connections to the same user (same session) with User 1 on shell 0/tab 0 and User 2 on shell 0/tab 0, when User 2 pressed F3 , they would be changed to tab 1 while User 1 would remain on tab 0. With the latest version in 12.04, when User 2 presses F3, all connected users are moved to shell 1/tab 1. Is there any way to re-enable the old behavior? I have looked at the /etc/byobu directory and only found backend and socketdir files there. Toggling backend between tmux and screen did not seem to render any difference. Anyone know what, if any, configuration option exist to control this?

• Copying and pasting files. Nothing new here

  I installed XBMC and it's working beautifully. I have my own skin I'd like to use and all I should have to do is copy and past my skin.folder into the addons folder and I'm down. However, this isn't so easy with Ubuntu. I have the latest version, installed today 11-14-2012 Could someone please spell out the command process to make this happen? I've read through so many forums, tried ssh, I know now I'm getting into things that could be dangerous so any help would be much appreciated. • Is installing Ubuntu 10.10 still a viable option?

  I fell in love with ubuntu when 10.10 was released. It was the perfect OS for me, but then, the 11 and the 12 series came, and I starting hating it (Pun intended) But seriously, I want to stick to ubuntu 10.10, I have the .iso file with me. I want to go ahead and install it. My question is, since its not currently supported, what problems will I face? Will I be eligible for update? I mean atleast till the time it was supported Can I somehow get security updates and patches Will the latest software available still run on ubuntu 10.10 I don't care much about drivers, as much as I care about python, php, apache, wine and other softwares. Will the software center work?and be updates as well? What issues am I most prone to face?

• What technologies are used for Game development now days?

  Whenever I ask a question about game development in an online forum I always get suggestions like learning line drawing algorithms, bit level image manipulation and video decompression etc. However looking at games like God of War 3, I find it hard to believe that these games could be developed using such low level techniques. The sheer awesomeness of such games defy any comprehensible(for me) programming methodology. Besides the gaming hardware is really a monster now days. So it stands to reason that the developers would work at a higher level of abstraction. What is the latest development methodology in the gaming industry? How is it that a team of 30-35 developers (of which most is management and marketing fluff) able to make such mind boggling games?

• Jersey 2.0 Integrated into GlassFish 4.0

  The latest promoted build of GlassFish 4.0 (glassfish-4.0-b43.zip) now contains upgraded Jersey version, 2.0-m05. Users are getting an early access to the implementation of some parts of the JAX-RS 2.0 API Early Draft Review 3. The appropriate JAX-RS bundle, version 2.0-m09 , gets bundled into GlassFish 4.0 as well. What should work The simple answer is: all the basic stuff. We have particularly tested the following two examples: simple hello world webapp multipart webapp Both above linked archives contain adjusted projects, so that resulting war files do not bundle any Jersey dependencies. Both also use Jersey 2 specific Servlet class, org.glassfish.jersey.servlet.ServletContainer, for deployment. See Martin's blog post on how to package war applications capable of running with both Jersey 1 and Jersey 2 ServletContainer classes. • Google Chrome would not exist fullscreen mode

  I am running 64-bit Ubuntu 13.10, have latest stable google-chrome version 30.0.1599.114-1. Whenever I enter fullscreen mode by pressing F11, it would never exit this mode by pressing F11. Actually, I see it exit but then fullscreen mode is quickly restored. I searched for a solution, but nothing really helps. I even tried completely re-installing it with no luck. Any suggestions? Update: I tried completely removing ~/.config/google-chrome, it did not help. Update 2: I am running Cinnamon 2.0.6, maybe that would give some clues. Thanks, Nick.

• ClearTrace Shows Execution History

  The latest release of ClearTrace (Build 38) now shows the execution history of a particular statement. You’ll need to save the trace files to a trace group instead of just using the default.  That’s as easy as typing something into the trace group name when you upload the trace.  I usually put the server name in this field. Build 38 also re-enables support for statement level events.  If your trace includes RPC:StmtCompleted or SQL:StmtCompleted events those will be processed and save.  In the results tab you can choose to view statement level or batch level events.  Please note that saving statement level events in a trace can generate HUGE trace files very quickly.

• Why my site is not ranking for particular keyword

  My site is only 3 days to be 6 months old. This website is unique, that is there is no competitor to this type site in India, providing comparison of payment gateways in India, besides the payment gateways companies itself. I've optimized it for key word : "payment gateway" I've changed the url's twice, latest being 3 months back, in which case Google Webmaster gave plently of 404's. I corrected the useful 404's and left meaningless ones as it is. What is the reason it's not ranking well for payment gateways? Even site with single page about "Payment gateways" seem to be ranking better than this. Is it does to: 1) Lot of outbound links to in-context companies and information 2) 404's as reported in Google Webmaster My another site is successfully getting 1500 unique visitors daily and is up in Google ranking. I don't know why it is not!

• No 'Hardware' tab in audio and no profiles

  If I run the 12.x ubuntu (latest May 2012) from the CD, I get full audio settings, and sound playing in speaker. Profiles let me change analog to digital in/out. Once I run install from the same CD onto the laptop HD, once it boots the first time, after selecting audio settings, there is no 'Hardware' tab and no way to change profiles. Worst part is the audio device is set to SPDIF so nothing comes out of the speakers. Very off how booting off the CD I can get analog audio, and installing to HD and booting seems to limit the profile to something useless. Laptop is a 5 year old Dell D820 with Nvidea 128meg video on a 1920x1200 screen and T7200 CPU. I suspect if I could get the damn HARDWARE tab back in audio settings, I could just select the proper Analog profile - just as is the case if running from a boot CD. Searched the web, no similar problems found... any help appreciated!

• XAMPP: Deamon is already running, but it's NOT apache

  This one is giving me a headache... I have installed XAMPP for Linux 1.7.7 on Ubuntu 12.10. I haven't installed the latest version because of the new security "feature" which makes XAMPP so secure I can't get it running... But that's another story. After it installed and ran ok for a couple of months, I now get the famous "XAMPP: Another web server daemon is already running." error while starting XAMPP. Now I've googled extensively and can rule out the following: There is no other Apache installation, just XAMPP There are no apache or apache 2 services running There are no services running that use port 80 (checked with netstat -an grep -w 80) I have also done a fresh install of xampp 1.7.7, but that gives me the same result. I think I have tried every solution on the first two result-pages of google and am nowhere nearer to a solution. Can anyone give me pointers on how to find the mysterious "Webdeamon" that is already running?

This release includes support for Oracle Solaris 11.1 and Oracle Linux 6.3, the ability to attach a network multiple times to an LDom guest using the same vswitch, support for HMP 2.2.3, improved options for adding users from remote directory servers, and a few other useful features. A list of new features is in What's New. You can view the documentation online, or you can download a zip file of the library from the Overview tab. If you're running Ops Center in connected mode, the updates are delivered to the UI. If you are in disconnected mode or have not yet installed Ops Center, you can go to the Ops Center download page to get the latest release. • Is it normal to these Xcode prompts/errors when you deploy to IOS Simulator from Unity?

  Just trying out the IOS build process.... Is it normal to see: Q1 - "upgrade to latest project format - project currently in Xcode 3.1 format, this will upgrade to 3.2" - just click OK and let Xcode do it's stuff? Q2 - same as Q1 but this time for the message "Remove obsolete build settings - will remove the build setting PREBINDING" Q3 - also when deploying to "Lastest IOS Simulator" you get the Simulator target produced, but also a non-simulator target which has lots of errors. So I assume you just ignore this target and not use it in Xcode correct? (i.e. just use the simulator target that is produced) Q4 - get a lot of warning after the simulator target is built? program works ok however.... • Problems connecting to eduroam wifi - ubuntu touch

  I am trying to connect to our university's eduroam wi-fi network with my Nexus 4 running Ubuntu touch (utopic latest build), but can't get past the first stage. I wonder if anyone can help please? I am following these instructions (which worked for my iPhone): http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/itsupport/mobile/eduroam/ But when I go to the bandit.st-andrews.ac.uk/connect page then follow the link to 'eduroam setup' I get the error message: Authorization Required This server could not verify that you are authorised to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required. Apache/2.2.16 (Debian) Server at bandit.st-andrews.ac.uk Port 443 (Clearly it's the latter option (browser) as I haven't been asked for my credentials yet.) Is there a way round this, or am I just not going to be able to connect until further down the Ubuntu touch development road... Thanks!

• Brightness not working; HP Pavilion Dv6; ATI Radeon HD6770M

  I am new to Ubuntu, but so far I am loving it. I was always unable to change my brightness since I installed Ubuntu, but I figured that installing the latest ATI driver for my graphics card would work. I did, but I still can't change the brightness. The slider goes up and down, but the brightness stays the same (on full). I have switchable graphics, an ATI Radeon HD 6770M, and an Intel integrated GPU. Since I am new to Linux, I am not familiar with terminal, so you will have to spell everything out for me, including if you need more information and how to get it. Thanks.

• Suspend fails (reboot on resume) and no hibernate option

  Upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 removed hibernate option for me and introduced the problem where by after entering standby (being indicated by blinking amber LED on my laptop) I cannot resume my session. Instead I get a crash and system reboots (crash comes instantly on trying to resume). Tried clean install to eliminate possibility of an upgrade issue but its still persistent. All latest updates installed. Tried looking for an answer to this but still no joy. Laptop is Sony VGN-FW41E.

For example, many times I hear about Intel contributing to patches for the Linux Kernel like the RC6 latest patches and any other related to the recent Sandy/Ivy Bridges. In another group, Android did an upstream patch and a lot of ARM patches have also come to the Linux Kernel. I have seeing only a small percent of companies and groups that have contributed to the Linux Kernel (http://kernel.org) but I want to know, since the beginning of Ubuntu till now, what has Ubuntu contributed to the Linux Kernel in regards to any aspect of the kernel. For Kernel information I typically go to http://kernelnewbies.org and http://kernel.org

Does anyone know of a step-by-step tutorial on how to work with TFS? Just for basic operations e.g. get latest version, upload your changes, etc. I am accessing it from Visual Studio 2010. I also have access to the TFS web interface.

I  have been using the .Net Framework mainly to develop ASP.NET WebApps for some years now and I am moving from using the .Net Framework 2.0 to using the latest features on the 4.x Frameworks, I am planning to document whenever is possible some of the stuff I learn using this space kindly given by the staff of the site. The feedback I get will also be very important for my progress and my plan is to learn a lot from what you guys can teach me with your comments on here.I also found myself with the necessity of putting somewhere code samples because sometimes when you post on forums the entries get locked and you can't do anything to add relevant details on them. • after i typed in my username then it just quit the window and do nothing

  I have a vaio VGN-FJ270P/B laptop which originally installed a windows xp professional in it. Last week, i had enough about the speed of windows and bought a brand new fresh SSD [M5S 128GB] and 2 new RAMS [1GB x2]. And i used my desktop to install a LiveUSB and downloaded the latest ubuntu and installed it [Universal USB Installer + Ubuntu 12.04.1]. All seems find through partition and typing my username and password. just after i typed in my password, i pressed continue and then it pop-up the window about choosing the profile picture for my account and it immediately disappear and went doing nothing. • Reason why a Brand new website is ranking for a top keyword? [on hold]

  Its been noticed, one of our (new)competitor website is ranking 5 for a top keyword with high competition. The website is barely 2 months old. When I checked not much SEO is done on the website other than basic title/desc tags. No backlinks. The website pushed down our website and took its place for the keyword. The only reason that came to my mind is the latest penguin update. Or is the ranking just temporary???, will it eventually be pushed back?? its been holding on for atleast one month and its irritating. Thanks in advance.
