• Laptop buttons not working on a Dell Latitude e6400

  I have install Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit on my Dell Latitude E6400 laptop. I have the latest bios version for my laptop (A32) which I downloaded from the official Dell website by checking updates that matches the service tag on my laptop. I'm having serious problems with all the mouse buttons on my laptop. The right-click button doesn't work at all under any circumstance. The left click button only work when clicking on icons in the left side-bar and in the top menu (like clicking on the power icon in the top-right corner or clicking on the file menu). However none of the buttons work in any of the applications even simple one like the file browser (home folder). For example when I try to click on a folder inside nautilus it doesn't work or when I try to click on the "x" close icon to close the window it also doesn't work. Can you help me figure it out?

• How to update dependency during runtime in my .NET application?

  I have a server-client application. Sometimes the server is updated which requires some DLLs in the client to be updated as well (The DLLs are the dependencies of the main executable). For now, we have to close the client, manually deploy the DLLs, and then start the client again. This is kind of an inconvenience because the client is an automated application, so normally it doesn't need any user intervention. Is it possible for this to be done automatically without restart or user intervention? Like, the client would download the latest DLL, and replace the current one?

• 3ds Max CAT to XNA

  Has anyone successfully used the CAT bone system in 3ds Max and exported the file into XNA? If so, what was your method of doing so? There are a number of methods of doing this apparently, but the ones I've tried have not worked. I used the Panda Exporter which creates a .X file. This seems to be the latest way of going about this, but when it's loaded in XNA, there is an error saying something about the bone weights. This happens when I export with and without CAT bones.

• Ubuntu 12.04 boot freezes

  I installed win7 on one of my machines. It works without any problem. Now I can not install Ubuntu 12.04 (11.10, 11.04) because the installation process stops in a very early stage: I can see that ISOLinux was loaded, then I can see some very simple icons, then I can see text messages of the kernel. The last message I can see: [6.177983] sr 5:0:0:0: attached scsi general ss1 type 5 At that point the system stops. I tried different versions (11.04) , I disabled, and then disconnected the hdd, but the same problem occured independently from my actions. I can boot a gparted live cd, but that system can not see my hdd. On the other hand, I can boot the installation cd of the latest stable Debian distribution without any problem, but I would prefer to use Ubuntu, because I use that distribution on all of our machines.s Configuration: Asus P8H61-MLE motheboard, Gigabyte GTS 450, Intel i5, 4gb ram, wd 1T sata hdd Any idea?   I'm pretty new at using TFS and I'd like to know how you or your team use the "shelve" function of tfs. We have the following guidelines in using TFS: - perform a "Get Latest" before you check in and try to build/compile - do not check in code that does not compile - at the end of the day, if your work is not complete/partially done, you should "shelve" your pending changes The first two make sense but I don't really get the last one. I asked my mgr and he said that its so he knows that you actually did some work for that day, which does kind of makes sense but still, I'm wondering what other teams use the "shelve" function for?

• Application compatability with the Cinnamon Desktop

  I've reading about about the Cinnamon Desktop through this Q&A: How do I install the Cinnamon Desktop? I've also been looking at the various possible various flavours of Ubuntu such as Unity/Gnome-shell and KDE: How do I install KDE shell on Ubuntu? How do I install and use the latest version of GNOME Shell? My concern is about running applications on Cinnamon - I'm fairly new to linux and am unsure about running software - especially about potentially mixing different software that may have been targeted at different desktops. Can I run a Kubuntu or Unity applications in Cinnamon or do I have to get specific Cinnamon only applications? For example, KOffice/Libreoffice, Okular/evince etc. Any help understanding what potential impacts such as extra software I may need to use or additional configuration to make sure that various different software behave and look like each other would be gratefully received.

• What is the situation about OpenGL under Ubuntu Unity and Gnome3?

  In a GNU/linux distribution is usually installed Xorg as main graphical server, it operates with a client-server logic, a special windows is designate as desktop environment and this special windows can handle all the eyecandy stuff like decorations, icons and effects. The problem is that the latest UI heavily relies on hardware acceleration, Unity is an overlay on Compiz and the Gnome-shell also require an active driver for the GPU to work well: the problem is: on the same OS I can find multiple implementations of OpenGL who is handling my OpenGL buffer? how the OpenGL buffer is managed compared to the other windows? how can I be sure that my OpenGL implementation is glued to the hardware and is not related to the client-server logic of Xorg? For example I have tried the clutter library and I have only experienced problems under both Unity and GTK/Gnome, no problem under other OS.

• How can I get back my deskopt? the left and top panels

  I installed the Ubuntu 12.10 and the driver for ATI Radeon HD 4330 (AMD Catalyst™ 12.6 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver) and the latest updates. After the restart now I can see only the deskopt backgrund and nothing more. No left or top panels. The resolution changed to 1024X768 and the graphic changed to: VESA:M92. What happened? Is there something wrong with the driver? How can I solve this? I'am a beginner, please answer according to this. Thank you!
