• LNK2005: delete already defined error in VC++

  Hi, I am newbie to VC++, so please forgive me if this is stupid. I have got 7 solutions under one project. Six of these build static libraries which is linked inside 7th to produce an exe. The runtime configuration of all the projects is MultiThreaded Debug. sln which is used to produce exe is using MFC other slns use standard runtiem library. I tried changing those to MFC, but still I am getting the same error. All the six slns build successfully. When I try to build exe - get the follwoing error: nafxcwd.lib(afxmem.obj) : error LNK2005: "void __cdecl operator delete(void *,int,char const *,int)" (??3@YAXPAXHPBDH@Z) already defined in tara_common.lib(fileStream.obj) This is weird because tara_common is one of the libs that I generated and fileStream.cpp is file that is just using delete on a pointer. I built it in verbose mod, so I am attaching the output. • Why is there a time lag when trying to change the text on a button in IE using JQuery?

  I have some Ajax that runs on a button click. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to return, so I wanted a visual clue to the user that the browser was doing something. So, I have this: $('#SubmitButton').attr("value", "Working..."); $('#SubmitButton').attr("disabled", true); //Synchronous Ajax call goes here $('#SubmitButton').attr("value", "Submit"); $('#SubmitButton').attr("disabled", false); As you can see, it changes the text on the button, and disables it. When the Ajax call comes back (it's synchronous, remember), the button changes back. In Firefox, this works great. In IE, it's...odd. It doesn't run the code in order. It doesn't change the text of the button and launches right into the Ajax call. The browser blocks with the Submit active and saying "Submit." Right after the Ajax comes back, the button quickly flashes "Working..." then back to Submit." So, for some reason, IE isn't changing the text of the button until after the Ajax call, even though the code for it is before the Ajax call. It's acting like this: //Synchronous Ajax call goes here $('#SubmitButton').attr("value", "Working..."); $('#SubmitButton').attr("disabled", true); $('#SubmitButton').attr("value", "Submit"); $('#SubmitButton').attr("disabled", false); Again, this works perfectly in Firefox. • Multiple calls to different page methods in same web page are not running in parallel (JQuery/Ajax/A

  I have several page methods defined in the code behind of an aspx page. I have several JS calls (see example below), one after the other, in the ready() method of JQuery to call these page methods. I noticed the javascript calls run asynchronously but the .NET page methods do not run in parallel. Page method 1 finishes first before page method 2 runs. Is there a way to get all the page methods to run all at the same time?   Hello, I am trying to call a WCF RESTful service from jQuery. I am using JSON to encode both request and response.   Hi Guys, I'm currently trying to get flip to work with scatterview items, and I'm having some trouble conceptually with it, using a plugin called Thriple (http://thriple.codeplex.com/). If there is a better way of using doing flip animations with ScatterViewItem's, that'd be cool too! Thanks!

  I am currently developing an application that uses chart control to create a histogram. The histogram displays data correctly however I would like to center the data. Right now the Min and Max are automatically set. I would like the graph to always force its to be displayed symmetrically. Here is an example of what I'm trying to accomplish. Basically I would like it to look like a normal distribution graph. Does anyone know how I can do the the following: Get the graph to be displayed symmetrically? Always show a zero line.   I was testing Windows 8 release preview and came across several bugs. One of my friends suggested letting Microsoft know through Microsft Connect. So I went to this web site: connect.microsoft.com I don't think that I'm a stupid person. I'm pretty good at figuring software and websites out, but this one beats me.... So I click on the "Products currently accepting bugs" link and get a long list of products. First off, most of those names is something that I've never heard before. • C# ASPNET MVC - How do you use ModelState.IsValid in a jquery/ajax postback?

  From what I've seen ModelState.IsValid is only calculated by the MVC frame work on a full postback, is that true? I have a jquery postback like so: var url = "/path/to/controller/myaction"; var id = $("#Id").val(); var somedata = $("#somedata").val(); // repeated for every textbox $.post(url, { id: id, somedata: somedata }, function (data) { // etc }); And the controller action looks like: public JsonResult MyAction(MyModel modelInstance) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { // ... ModelState.IsValid is always true, even when there is invalid data } } But this does not seem to trigger ModelState.IsValid. For example if somedata is 5 characters long, but the DataAnnotation says [StringLength(3)] - in this case ModelStae.IsValid is still true, because it hasn't been triggered. Is there something special I need to do when making a jquery/ajax post instead of a full post? Thanks!

  hi, UPDATE: I didn't set the response mimetype to 'application/json'. It works now. In the website I'm working on (http://piem.org:8000/) I've got an issue with an ajax post request. Every time the search button is clicked or the google maps 'idle' is triggered I send a request to get some data. While the request works as expected in most cases, it returns an error when I click a result and come back to the search page. (type 'barcelona' in the search box to get the unique restaurant in the db). The server processes the request properly but it seems that the error occurs when the javascript receives it (it returns a "12031" error code). It works properly with FF 3.0.6, IE 8.0 and Chrome 5.0 with GET, and with FF with both POST and GET. Anybody can help? thanks jul

• ASP.NET MVC: Is it "wrong" to use HTTP 500 via an AJAX request to return invalid form content?

  Here's the situation: I've got two partial views. One has a form. What needs to happen is when the form is posted via an AJAX request, if the operation succeeds, the area with the second partial is repopulated with the content. However, if the posted data was invalid, the original partial is repopulated with an error message. I'm using jQuery and the ajaxForm plugin to handle the form posts and responses. Would it be "wrong"/bad coding/wtf-worthy to conditionally use $.html() to replace the content in one area when it's a 200, and a different area if it's a 500? To me, this idea smells, but I'm not sure how else to accomplish the goal.

• In JQuery 1.4.2 .ajax converts JSON wrong.

  My code worked fine in JQuery 1.3.2, but in 1.4.2 it seems to be broken. What is should get in the post is something like this: ?pks=108;pks=107 What I now get is: ?pks[]=108;pks[]=107; When I trace this code through, the JSON object seems to be fine until it enters .ajax. Firebug after the response is received shows the post was: Parameters application/x-www-form-urlencoded pks[] 108 pks[] 107 Source pks%5B%5D=108&pks%5B%5D=107 Which is not what I got on JQuery 1.3.2. Where are those extra braces coming from?

• JQuery Ajax returns status 0 in Google Chrome, works fine with other browsers.

  Hello, I am using jQuery ajax, and it worked very well until I tried the site in Google Chrome. I am directed to the success handler. However, when I printed the status of the XMLHttpRequest, I got a 0. The responseText is empty as well. This only happens in Google Chrome. I tried the same code on Safari, Firefox, and Opera, they are worked correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• Storing And Using Microsoft User Account Credentials in MS SQL Srv 2008 Database

  I'm not exactly positive how to word this for the sake of the title so please forgive me. Also I can't seem to figure out how to even google this question, so I'm hoping that I can get a lead in the right direction. Part of my software(VB.NET App) requires the ability to access/read/write a shared network folder. I have an option for the user to specify any credentials that might be needed to access said folder. I want to store these credentials given in the MS SQL Database as part of the config(I have a table which contains configuration). My concern is that the password for the user account will be unencrpyted. Yet, if I encrypt the password the VB.NET App And/Or database will be unable to use the credentials for file i/o operations unless the Password is unencrypted before use. I'm fishing for suggestions on how to better handle this situation.

• Sending POST variables through a PHP proxy for AJAX?

  I've decided that using a PHP proxy for AJAX calls for a project is the best way to go - but I have a question regarding passing POST data through the proxy. As in - how to do it. Should I need to create a single variable in the javascript using alternate characters, then have the PHP proxy parse and modify the variable to reassemble a valid HTTP request? Or is there some means of passing along the $_POST array in new request to the external server by pulling the data out of the headers and re-sending it?
