  • Does the usage of interfaces slow down programs?

    - by Olga
Is it true that interfaces slow down programs? I have heard that this is the case because during running time each during each usage of an object implementing this interface the decision has to be made which class implementing the interface this object belongs to. I am especially interested in an answer for C++, but also in general. And if this is true, some numbers would be helpful, too. Thank you very much!

  • if string is alphabetically greater than other string in objective

    - by Jonathan
I'm trying to use an if statement to work out which of 2 strings comes first alphabetically. Like with numbers and greater and less than: if (1 < 2) { just with strings: if(@"ahello" < @"bhello") { Or would I have to have a string containing all the letters and then check the index of the first char in each string and see which index is greater, and the index that is less than the other comes first in the alphabet and then if they are equal move on to the next char and repeat?

  • Percent of internet running Google Native Client?

    - by anon
Anyone have numbers on how many machines / % of internet uses have Google Native Client? I'm curious about google NaCL as a platform: it seems to combine the best of the web (just a webpage, accessible on any machine) and desktop apps (OpenGL, C/C++ power). The only question is -- what percent of the world actually use it. Anyone have data on this? Thanks!

  • How to get unique values when using a UNION mysql query

    - by Roland
I have 2 sql queries that return results, both contain a contract number, now I want to get the unique values of contract numbers HEre's the query (SELECT contractno, dsignoff FROM campaigns WHERE clientid = 20010490 AND contractno != '' GROUP BY contractno, dsignoff) UNION (SELECT id AS contractno, signoffdate AS dsignoff FROM contract_details WHERE clientid = 20010490) So for example, if the first query before the union returns two results with contract no 10, and the sql query after the union also returns 10, then we have 3 rows in total, however because contractno of all three rows is 10, I need to have only one row returned, Is this possible?

  • Flex bug?? Get messed up stacked ColumnChart with type="100%"

    - by Nir
I am trying to do a stacked Column chart with type="100%" and a mixture of positive and negative values. When all the values are positive, is functions well, but when negative numbers come to the game, it looks totally messed up. When I also look at Adobe documentation (look here), I see the following code for stacked column chart involving negative numbers: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!-- charts/StackedNegative.mxml --> <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"> <mx:Script><![CDATA[ import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; [Bindable] public var expenses:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([ {Month:"Jan", Profit:-2000, Expenses:-1500}, {Month:"Feb", Profit:1000, Expenses:-200}, {Month:"Mar", Profit:1500, Expenses:-500} ]); ]]></mx:Script> <mx:Panel title="Column Chart"> <mx:ColumnChart id="myChart" dataProvider="{expenses}" showDataTips="true"> <mx:horizontalAxis> <mx:CategoryAxis dataProvider="{expenses}" categoryField="Month" /> </mx:horizontalAxis> <mx:series> <mx:ColumnSet type="stacked" allowNegativeForStacked="true"> <mx:series> <mx:ColumnSeries xField="Month" yField="Profit" displayName="Profit" /> <mx:ColumnSeries xField="Month" yField="Expenses" displayName="Expenses" /> </mx:series> </mx:ColumnSet> </mx:series> </mx:ColumnChart> <mx:Legend dataProvider="{myChart}"/> </mx:Panel> </mx:Application> It works fine. But try to change: <mx:ColumnSet type="stacked" allowNegativeForStacked="true"> to: <mx:ColumnSet type="100%" allowNegativeForStacked="true"> and you'll see that it doesn't on January data, where both values are negative, the chart shows as if they are positive, and on the other two where one value is positive and the other is negative, it shows only the positive part as 100%... Isn't it a Flex Bug? I have my own case with such data and it behaves wrong the same way. I'd expect that if it has 800 stacked on -200, it will show 80% up and 20% down, totalling 100%. BTW: Using Flex 4, though these are all mx components. Thanks a lot and regards from Berlin, Germany, Nir.

  • How can I ignore .svn directories when using sloccount?

    - by digitala
I'm trying to use sloccount from within hudson to gather statistics on our codebase, however by default sloccount collects information on all files, even those which are "hidden" (eg. .hideme). This means the statistics are skewed since they include numbers from files within the .svn directories. Is there any way I can tell sloccount to correctly ignore any files/directories which start with a .?

  • Problems Installing Eclipse and Ruby Plugin

    - by Jesse J
I installed Eclipse on my Ubuntu machine and then the Ruby Development Tools (RDT), but it would crash when I try to alter certain features, like having line numbers, how far back to have history, and the code coloring scheme didn't work fully. I decided to try to uninstall Eclipse by doing sudo aptitude remove Eclipse and then sudo aptitude install eclipse but instead it installed it back with the broken Ruby plugin. I also tried aptitude purge but that didn't help either. How can I freshly reinstall Eclipse and get a properly working Ruby plugin?
