  • Python GUI does not update until entire process is finished

    - by ccwhite1
I have a process that gets a files from a directory and puts them in a list. It then iterates that list in a loop. The last line of the loop being where it should update my gui display, then it begins the loop again with the next item in the list. My problem is that it does not actually update the gui until the entire process is complete, which depending on the size of the list could be 30 seconds to over a minute. This gives the feeling of the program being 'hung' What I wanted it to do was to process one line in the list, update the gui and then continue. Where did I go wrong? The line to update the list is # Populate listview with drive contents. The print statements are just for debug. def populateList(self): print "populateList" sSource = self.txSource.Value sDest = self.txDest.Value # re-intialize listview and validated list self.listView1.DeleteAllItems() self.validatedMove = None self.validatedMove = [] #Create list of files listOfFiles = getList(sSource) #prompt if no files detected if listOfFiles == []: self.lvActions.Append([datetime.datetime.now(),"Parse Source for .MP3 files","No .MP3 files in source directory"]) #Populate list after both Source and Dest are chosen if len(sDest) > 1 and len(sDest) > 1: print "-iterate listOfFiles" for file in listOfFiles: sFilename = os.path.basename(file) sTitle = getTitle(file) sArtist = getArtist(file) sAlbum = getAblum(file) # Make path = sDest + Artist + Album sDestDir = os.path.join (sDest, sArtist) sDestDir = os.path.join (sDestDir, sAlbum) #If file exists change destination to *.copyX.mp3 sDestDir = self.defineDestFilename(os.path.join(sDestDir,sFilename)) # Populate listview with drive contents self.listView1.Append([sFilename,sTitle,sArtist,sAlbum,sDestDir]) #populate list to later use in move command self.validatedMove.append([file,sDestDir]) print "-item added to SourceDest list" else: print "-list not iterated"

  • In an asp.net, how to get a reference of a custom webcontrol from a usercontrol?

    - by AJ
Hi I have a page which holds a custom webcontrol and a usercontrol. I need to reference of webcontrol in usercontrol class. So, I make the declaration of webcontrol as public in page class. But, when I do “this.Page.”, I don’t see the webcontrol listed in list provided by intellisense. Most probably, I am missing something. In an asp.net page, how to get a reference of a custom webcontrol from a usercontrol? Please advise. Thanks Pankaj

  • Backbone.js Adding Model to Collection Issue

    - by jtmgdevelopment
I am building a test application in Backbone.js (my first app using Backbone). The app goes like this: Load Data from server "Plans" Build list of plans and show to screen There is a button to add a new plan Once new plan is added, add to collection ( do not save to server as of now ) redirect to index page and show the new collection ( includes the plan you just added) My issue is with item 5. When I save a plan, I add the model to the collection then redirect to the initial view. At this point, I fetch data from the server. When I fetch data from the server, this overwrites my collection and my added model is gone. How can I prevent this from happening? I have found a way to do this but it is definitely not the correct way at all. Below you will find my code examples for this. Thanks for the help. PlansListView View: var PlansListView = Backbone.View.extend({ tagName : 'ul', initialize : function() { _.bindAll( this, 'render', 'close' ); //reset the view if the collection is reset this.collection.bind( 'reset', this.render , this ); }, render : function() { _.each( this.collection.models, function( plan ){ $( this.el ).append( new PlansListItemView({ model: plan }).render().el ); }, this ); return this; }, close : function() { $( this.el ).unbind(); $( this.el ).remove(); } });//end NewPlanView Save Method var NewPlanView = Backbone.View.extend({ tagName : 'section', template : _.template( $( '#plan-form-template' ).html() ), events : { 'click button.save' : 'savePlan', 'click button.cancel' : 'cancel' }, intialize: function() { _.bindAll( this, 'render', 'save', 'cancel' ); }, render : function() { $( '#container' ).append( $( this.el ).html(this.template( this.model.toJSON() )) ); return this; }, savePlan : function( event ) { this.model.set({ name : 'bad plan', date : 'friday', desc : 'blah', id : Math.floor(Math.random()*11), total_stops : '2' }); this.collection.add( this.model ); app.navigate('', true ); event.preventDefault(); }, cancel : function(){} }); Router (default method): index : function() { this.container.empty(); var self = this; //This is a hack to get this to work //on default page load fetch all plans from the server //if the page has loaded ( this.plans is defined) set the updated plans collection to the view //There has to be a better way!! • Why implement DB connection pointer object as a reference counting pointer? (C++)

    - by DVK
At our company one of the core C++ classes (Database connection pointer) is implemented as a reference counting pointer. To be clear, the objects are NOT DB connections themselves, but pointers to a DB connection object. The library is very old, and nobody who designed is around anymore. So far, nether I, nor any C++ experts in the company that I asked have come up with a good reason for why this particular design was chosen. Any ideas? It is introducing some problems (partially due to awful reference pointer implementation used), and I'm trying to understand if this design actually has some deep underlying reasons? The usage pattern these days seems to be that the DB connection pointer object is returned by a DB connection manager class, and it's somewhat unclear whether DB connection pointers were designed to be able to be used independently of DB connection manager.

  • Why Is my UISlider Thumb Image Being Shown Multiple Times and Not Disappearing As They Should?

    - by Gorgando
This slider is possessed: When I move the slider thumb left or right, it leaves the original image there (creating an extra image). This doesn't happen every time and the only consistency i've noticed is that it's inconsistent. When the table is in "Editing mode" it is more likely to create a duplicate thumb image, but it also does so in regular mode. This is the code that I use to create the slider: CGRect frame = CGRectMake(20, 42.0, 280.0, 22); self.slider = [[UISlider alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; [self.slider addTarget:self action:@selector(sliderAction:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventValueChanged]; self.slider.continuous = YES; self.slider.minimumValue = 0.0; self.slider.maximumValue = 5.0; self.slider.value = 0.0; [sliderCell addSubview:self.slider]; Appreciate any thoughts you might have!

  • openGL ES retina support

    - by Bryan
I'm trying to get the avTouch sample code app to run on the retina display. Has anyone done this? In the CALevelMeter class, I've tried the following: - (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)coder { if (self = [super initWithCoder:coder]) { CGFloat f = self.contentScaleFactor; if ([self respondsToSelector:@selector(contentScaleFactor)]) { self.contentScaleFactor = [[UIScreen mainScreen] scale]; } f = self.contentScaleFactor; _showsPeaks = YES; _channelNumbers = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:[NSNumber numberWithInt:0], nil]; _vertical = NO; _useGL = YES; _meterTable = new MeterTable(kMinDBvalue); [self layoutSubLevelMeters]; [self registerForBackgroundNotifications]; } return self; } and it sets the contentScaleFactor to "2". Great, that was expected. But then in the layoutSubviews, CALevelMeter frame is still 1/2 of what it should be. Any ideas?

  • Dynamically add items to Tkinter Canvas

    - by nick369
I'm attempting to learn Tkinter with the goal of being able to create a 'real-time' scope to plot data. As a test, I'm trying to draw a polygon on the canvas every time the 'draw' button is pressed. The triangle position is randomized. I have two problems: There is a triangle on the canvas as soon as the program starts, why and how do I fix this? It doesn't draw any triangles when I press the button, at least none that I can see. CODE from Tkinter import * from random import randint class App: def __init__(self,master): #frame = Frame(master) #frame.pack(side = LEFT) self.plotspc = Canvas(master, height = 100, width = 200, bg = "white") self.plotspc.grid(row=0,column = 2, rowspan = 5) self.button = Button(master, text = "Quit", fg = "red", \ command = master.quit) self.button.grid(row=0,column=0) self.drawbutton = Button(master, text = "Draw", command = \ self.pt([50,50])) self.drawbutton.grid(row = 0, column = 1) def pt(self, coords): coords[0] = coords[0] + randint(-20,20) coords[1] = coords[1] + randint(-20,20) x = (0,5,10) y = (0,10,0) xp = [coords[0] + xv for xv in x] yp = [coords[1] + yv for yv in y] ptf = zip(xp,yp) self.plotspc.create_polygon(*ptf) if _name_ == "_main_": root = Tk() app = App(root) root.mainloop() The code is formatting strangely within the code tags, I have no idea how to fix this.

  • Loading Views dynamically

    - by Dann
Case 1: I have created View-based sample application and tried execute below code. When I press on "Job List" button it should load another view having "Back Btn" on it. In test function, if I use [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; nothing gets loaded, but if I use [self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it loads another view haveing "Back Btn" on it. Case 2: I did create another Navigation Based Applicaton and used [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it worked as I wanted. Can someone please explain why it was not working in Case 1. Does it has something to do with type of project that is selected? @interface MWViewController : UIViewController { } -(void) test; @end @interface JobViewCtrl : UIViewController { } @end @implementation MWViewController (void)viewDidLoad { UIButton* btn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; btn.frame = CGRectMake(80, 170, 150, 35); [btn setTitle:@"Job List!" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btn addTarget:self action:@selector(test) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self.view addSubview:btn]; [super viewDidLoad]; } -(void) test { JobViewCtrl* jbc = [[JobViewCtrl alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; //[self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; [jbc release]; } (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end @implementation JobViewCtrl -(void) loadView { self.view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor grayColor]; UIButton* btn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; btn.frame = CGRectMake(80, 170, 150, 35); [btn setTitle:@"Back Btn!" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [self.view addSubview:btn]; } @end

  • Trappings MySQL Warnings on Calls Wrapped in Classes -- Python

    - by chernevik
I can't get Python's try/else blocks to catch MySQL warnings when the execution statements are wrapped in classes. I have a class that has as a MySQL connection object as an attribute, a MySQL cursor object as another, and a method that run queries through that cursor object. The cursor is itself wrapped in a class. These seem to run queries properly, but the MySQL warnings they generate are not caught as exceptions in a try/else block. Why don't the try/else blocks catch the warnings? How would I revise the classes or method calls to catch the warnings? Also, I've looked through the prominent sources and can't find a discussion that helps me understand this. I'd appreciate any reference that explains this. Please see code below. • Using open source SNES emulator code to turn a rom file into a self-contained executable game

    - by Baron von Monkeydorf
Would it be possible to take the source code from a SNES emulator (or any other game system emulator for that matter) and a game ROM for the system, and somehow create a single self-contained executable that lets you play that particular ROM without needing either the individual rom or the emulator itself to play? Would it be difficult, assuming you've already got the rom and the emulator source code to work with?

My app isn't even special, it is a basic app with a tab bar and nav bar ... I currently got something like this in the controller I push (that i want to be fullscreen) : - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.view.autoresizingMask = 0; self.view.superview.autoresizingMask = 0; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarStyle: UIStatusBarStyleBlackTranslucent]; //[[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; [self.navigationController.navigationBar setBarStyle:UIBarStyleBlackTranslucent]; CGRect test = CGRectMake(0.0,0.0,320,44); //[self.navigationController.navigationBar setFrame:test]; //[self setWantsFullScreenLayout:YES]; [self.view.superview setBounds:CGRectMake(0,-20.0,320,480)]; //[self.view setBounds:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]]; [self.view setBounds:CGRectMake(0,-20.0,320,480)]; //CGRect rect4 = CGRectMake(0.0,0.0,320.0,500.0); //[self.view setFrame:rect4]; [self.view setBackgroundColor:[UIColor redColor]]; } As you can see I tried a lot of stuff :D but my red background isn't going under my status bar ... I am using the iphone simulator (in case it has to do with it ..) Thank you for any help ;) Gotye.

  • Why does adding a reference to project targeting .NET Framework 4.0 fail?

    - by Malcolm Post
We have two projects that are both class libraries. Project 1 is a VS 2008 project and targets the .NET Framework 3.5. Project 2 is a VS 2010 (release candidate) project that targets the .NET Framework 4.0. When I try to add a reference to Project 2 in Project 1, it fails with a less than informative error message. I know that if I change the target Framework for Project 2 to 3.5, then adding the reference will work. My question is, if I don't change the target frameworks, but convert Project 1 to VS 2010, will the referencing work? Stated another way, is there some inherent incompatiblity between class libraries targeting different framework versions, or is it failing for me because VS 2008 doesn't know about the 4.0 framework?

  • Creating a Ruby method that pads an Array

    - by CJ Johnson
I'm working on creating a method that pads an array, and accepts 1. a desired value and 2. an optional string/integer value. Desired_size reflects the desired number of elements in the array. If a string/integer is passed in as the second value, this value is used to pad the array with extra elements. I understand there is a 'fill' method that can shortcut this - but that would be cheating for the homework I'm doing. The issue: no matter what I do, only the original array is returned. I started here: class Array def pad(desired_size, value = nil) desired_size >= self.length ? return self : (desired_size - self.length).times.do { |x| self << value } end end test_array = [1, 2, 3] test_array.pad(5) From what I researched the issue seemed to be around trying to alter self's array, so I learned about .inject and gave that a whirl: class Array def pad(desired_size, value = nil) if desired_size >= self.length return self else (desired_size - self.length).times.inject { |array, x| array << value } return array end end end test_array = [1, 2, 3] test_array.pad(5) The interwebs tell me the problem might be with any reference to self so I wiped that out altogether: class Array def pad(desired_size, value = nil) array = [] self.each { |x| array << x } if desired_size >= array.length return array else (desired_size - array.length).times.inject { |array, x| array << value } return array end end end test_array = [1, 2, 3] test_array.pad(5) I'm very new to classes and still trying to learn about them. Maybe I'm not even testing them the right way with my test_array? Otherwise, I think the issue is I get the method to recognize the desired_size value that's being passed in. I don't know where to go next. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.

  • Can I create class properties during __new__ or __init__?

    - by 007brendan
I want to do something like this. The _print_attr function is designed to be called lazily, so I don't want to evaluate it in the init and set the value to attr. I would like to make attr a property that computes _print_attr only when accessed: class Base(object): def __init__(self): for attr in self._edl_uniform_attrs: setattr(self, attr, property(lambda self: self._print_attr(attr))) def _print_attr(self, attr): print attr class Child(Base): _edl_uniform_attrs = ['foo', 'bar'] me = Child() me.foo me.bar #output: #"foo" #"bar"

EDIT: IE7 wouldn't show any errors if I put the certificate into trusted root certification authorities. IE8 seems to show errors even with the certificate there.

  • Can I reactivate the cursor keys for modifying a cell reference in a formula?

    - by Jonas Heidelberg
When I enter an Excel formula by hand avoiding the mouse, I can conveniently reference cells by using the arrow keys (-,<- etc.). For example, I can enter the formula =A2&B2 in cell C2 by entering =<-&<-<- The result looks like this: If I want to change from B2 to B3, I can just press the downward arrow on the keyboard at this time. How do I do the same thing later, after having left this cell (e.g. by pressing Enter)? In other words, how do I get the flashing dashed line back when re-entering a cell with F2?

  • New wxpython controls not displaying until resize

    - by acrosman
I have created a custom control (based on a panel) in wxPython that provides a list of custom controls on panel within it. The user needs to be able to add rows at will and have those rows displayed. I'm having trouble getting the new controls to actually appear after they are added. I know they are present, because they appear after a resize of the frame, or if I add them before Show() is called on the frame. I've convinced myself it's something basic, but I can't find the mistake. The add function looks like this: def addRow(self, id, reference, page, title, note): newRow = NoteListRow(self.listPanel, id, reference, page, title, note) self.listSizer.Add(newRow, flag=wx.EXPAND | wx.LEFT) self.rows.append(newRow) if len(self.rows) == 1: self.highliteRow(newRow) self.Refresh() self.Update() return newRow I assume I'm missing something about how refresh and update are supposed to behave, so even a good extended reference on those would likely be helpful.

  • How do I override a Spring bean definition yet still reference the overriden bean?

    - by Kevin
I'm attempting to implement a delegate Service provider by overriding the bean definition for the original service with my delegate Service. However, as the name would imply, the delegate Service needs a reference to the original service to delegate calls to. I'm having trouble figuring out how to override the bean definition while using the original bean def without running into a circular reference issue. For example: <!-- Original service def in spring-context.xml --> <bean id="service" class="com.mycompany.Service"/> <!-- Overridden definition in spring-plugin-context.xml --> <bean id="service" class="com.mycompany.DelegatedService"/> <constructor-arg ref="service"/> </bean> Is this possible?
