• Session resume problem with Strophe attach and Ejabberd

  I'm having a lot of difficulty getting strophe's 'attach()' function working. I am working on a social network where users will be surfing pages and at the same time keep their chat connection on. I don't want to reconnect/reauthorize on every page so as per this link (http://groups.google.com/group/strophe/browse_thread/thread/430da5e788278f3a/93c48c88164f382f?show_docid=93c48c88164f382f&fwc=1) i am storing the SID and RID into a cookie onunload. On the next page when i try to use the new SID and RID (after incrementing it by 1) my session is already destroyed. Ejabberd reports "Error on HTTP put. Reason: bad_key" WTF is happening?

• How do I show a user's credit based on their session

  Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database. • Port a live system from App Engine Helper to App Engine Patch

  I am running a live system that is currently serving about 20K pages a day which is based on App Engine Helper (Python) with session support provided by AppEngine utilities. One problem that I have been having is that sessions are occasionally randomly logging out. I would like to try using the App Engine Patch, since it has "native" django session support, but I am worried that this is possibly going to be like doing a brain transplant. Specifically, current database models are all inhereted from BaseModel provided by the App Engine Helper. While, App Engine Patch does not have this inheritance. Does anyone know if it is possible to migrate a live system from App Engine Helper to App Engine Patch? If so, do you have any advice or warnings that I should heed, before attempting this transition? Thank you and kind regards Alex

I tried adding the reference to System.Data.Entity.dll back in but that didn't work and I know that your not suppose to add that with the new entity framework..

• Logoff button IIS6 ASP.NET Basic Authentication

  I have a requirement for an explicit logout button for users in a ASP.NET web app. I am using IIS6 with Basic Authentication (SSL). I can redirect to another web page but the browser keeps the session alive. I have googled around and found a way to do it by enabling an active x control to communicate with IIS and kill the session. I am in a restricted environment that does not allow forms authentication and active x controls are not forbidden as well. Has anyone else had this requirement and how have you handled it? Okay that is what I was afraid of. I have seen similar answers on the net and I was hoping someone would have a way of doing it. Thanks for your time though. I guess I can use javascript to prevent the back button like the history.back()

When I close my browser the JSessionId disappears. Here's my code: request.getSession().setMaxInactiveInterval(30*60); //it's 30 minutes request.getSession().setAttribute("someinteger", 10); It works great, but when I shut down the browser, and reopen it I can't find the jsessionId (before I closed the browser I could find it in the 'localhost' section). The strange thing is I can still find the "someinteger" cookie. What is the problem? What am I doing wrong?   Hello. I want to handle following scenarios in my new web application. If multiple users log into the application with same credentials, the application should deny access. Since I have out of process session store, I would be able to make out when this situation happens. So I can deny all requests after first successful attempt. This will however not work if the user instead of logging out of the application, closes the browser. The session will continue to reflect in the store for the period of timeout value. If a user attempts to open a new browser windows (Ctrl+N), the application should defeat this attempt. Every new page can potentially fiddle with cookies. I want to therefore deny the users the ability to open new window.

  How do I get the number of active sessions in Xpage. I'm trying to use managed beans but it just returns a weird string. Basically, I ran up a simple proof of concept persistence integration test using NUnit, the test simply querys an Oracle database and successfully returns the last record received by the underlying table. However, when the assemblies are taken out of the NUnit test environment and deployed as they would be for an actual application build, my call for an NHibernate session results in a ‘TypeInitializationException’ whilst executing the code line: sessionFactory = New Configuration().Configure().BuildSessionFactory() The application is a vb.net console app running against an Oracle 9.2 database, using a ‘coding framework’ published on the web by Bill McCafferty entitled 'NHibernate Best Practices with ASP.NET' (pre S#harp Architecture). • convert.php does not run in a screen session

  I am trying to convert a big forum. At the moment I have to do this via ssh and start convert.php with "php5 -f convert.php -- $OPTIONS". But my internet connection is a bit buggy and so it is often killed. If i start the above working command in a screen session it does not work.   I am trying to get xdebug working with eclipse (3.5) / php (on xampp windows 7). I have verified xdebug is enabled in php - I have the fancy output and my phpinfo shows all the xdebug stuff. I have remote debug on, and typed in the lan ip address on my eclipse machine. When I tell eclipse to debug, it launches the browser and passes the debug URL parameters. That looks OK. However, in eclipse debug perspective it shows 'launching myproject' 57% 'waiting for xdebug session'. It sits there forever. I have turned off windows firewall on both machines. I tried turning implicit flush on. Any ideas?

  Hi, As I am going through my journey by adopting the Ruby language, I spend a lot of time inside IRb. It's just fantastic! But, as I am not very aware of it's capabilities, and still a nuby with Ruby, I would like to know the following: How can I 'flush' the session, without restarting IRb (or is this not possible). How can I configure IRb to load a bunch of source files "hello.rb" and "hello_objects.rb", i.e. at startup? I am heavily working in these and it would be nice to know a short hand to load these classes, without manually typing 'load' for each again. Thank you for your answers, comments and feedback!

  Hi, In our application we are using Axis1.2. Our service has one instance variable profileDataManager which is responsible to return set of profiles. The application has pagination to display only 25 profiles at a time. My requirement is the profileDataManager should be instantiated only once for respective client. On subsequent calls, it should use the existing object. For this i need the one service object should be created for user session.If a client sends another request, the service object created in previous call should be returned. On client side i am using Flex. In CXF webserice, my requirement is fulfilled with an annotation '@HttpSessionScope'. Is there away that i can get the abovementioned behavior in Axis? I have given the following trials. but no success added and modified the java client stub.setMaintainSession(true); The above didn't work for me.

  I have a ruby on rails app where I want users to be able to store a list. The list is similar to a shopping cart except for the fact that they input their own items. I would like store everything in the session, but this seems like it would get complicated and would start to take up space after a while. The other way of doing it was to create temporary entries in the database with a "temp" flag and session id so that they could come back to it. The only problem with this is, how do I clean out stale entries?

  I have been tasked with developing a single Login and Dashboard page that user can login too, the user will then be shown all the systems (we developed) that they have access based to based on some roles stored in our databases. If they logged in we would like that "User Session" (not sure of correct terminology) to be carried to which ever system they are redirected too. To illustrate a very rough overview of what I want to achieve: Is there a way that a user can login in one site, and then carry over that login to the other sites?   Hi, I am working with facebook's API and I want to call the links.prevew method. http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Links.preview Is it possible to call this method without having my user authenticate or "connect"? For example, not all of my users have hooked up their facebook accounts to my website, but I still want to use this API method. I am getting the following error: Fatal error: Uncaught Exception: 453: A session key is required for calling this method thrown in /public_html/libs/facebook.php on line 413 But on the wiki it says that the method does not require a session key? If it is not possible to make API calls without such a key, is there anyway I can make calls on behalf of my account or my applications account (rather then a users account)? • How do I get a full Magento session in an external script? (Specifically, Catalog Rules)

  I'm running an external script that loads up a Magento session. Within that script, I'm loading products and grabbing a bunch of properties. The one issue is that getFinalPrice() does not apply the catalog rules that apply to the product. I'm doing everything I know to set the session, even a bunch of stuff that I think is superfluous. Nothing seems to get these rules applied. • Removing $_SESSION['layout']['action'] globally from all users!

  Ok, I am storing a session variable like so to load up users layouts faster if it's set instead of calling the database. But since the layout can be changed via the Administrator, I'd like to be able to globally remove all sessions where $_SESSION['layout']['action'] is set for all users. $_SESSION['layout']['action'] = array(a ton of indexes and mulit-dimensional arrays); Now, I know it's being stored into my database sessions table, there's a column for session_id, last_update, and data. So, question I have is how to remove that session array key ['action'] from all users. Using $_SESSION = array(); session_destroy(); Does not work. Basically, session_start() is being loaded on every page load, so I just want to remove all ['action'] keys from ['layout']. Is this possible to do? Thanks

Computer Spec: Windows 7 Running processes: 46 Running threads: +/- 650 NVidia GeForce 9200M GS Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26Ghz Game-spec with normal run: Memory: between 80 MB and 110 MB CPU: between 9% and 20% CPU when time rewinding: 90% The same values for the debugging session, except when I rewind the time: CPU: 20%. Is there any reason for? Is there a way to reach the same performance with a normal run. • Generic test suite for ASP.NET Membership/Role/Profile/Session Providers

I've just created custom ASP.NET Membership, Role, Profile and Session State providers, and I was wondering whether there exists a test suite or something similar to test the implementation of the providers. I've checked some of the open source providers I could find (like the NauckIt.PostgreSQL provider), but neither of them contained unit tests, and all of the forum topics I've found mentioned only a few test cases (like checking whether creating a user works), but this is clearly not a complete test suite for a Membership provider. (And I couldn't find anything for the other three providers) Are there more or less complete test suites for the above mentioned providers, or are there custom providers out there that have at least some testing avaialable?

• Object reference error even when object is not null

  hi, i have an application wherein i have incorporate a "Remember Me" feature for the login screen. I do this by creating a cookie when the user logs in for the first time, so next time when the user visits the site i get the cookie and load the user information. i have written the code for loading user information in a common class in the App_Code folder...and all my pages inherit from this class. code for loading the user info is as follows: public static void LoadUserDetails(string emailId) { UsersEnt currentUser = UsersBL.LoadUserInfo(emailId); if (currentUser != null) HttpContext.Current.Session["CurrentUser"] = currentUser; } Now the problem is i get an "Object reference" error when i try to store the currentUser object in the session variable (even though the currentUser object is not null). However the password property in the currentUser object is null. Am i getting the error because of this...or is there some other reason?? thank you
