• Pointer problem on external monitor

  Pointer looks and work fine on laptop but when I connect external monitor it appears there as a shaking, square shape. Videos are not showing either. my laptop hp 2133: Graphic card: VIA Technologies, Inc. CN896/VN896/P4M900, Chrome 9 HC. System: Lubuntu 12.04 I think it is graphic problem but can't find drivers for my card and system. I do have xserver-xorg-video-openchrome and disper installed. I did not have that problem with Lubuntu 11.10. My problem is a bit like : Mouse pointer strange problem but it was not solved so I decided to post my question.

• XNA - Debugging/Testing Individual Sprites and Pixel Collision

  I ran through the first training on XNA where you make a shooter game. They did some thing that I would not do and I want to use their starting point to learn more things. I want to try better collision and adding a menu. I saw something online with the sonic physics where they have a frame by frame of sonic moving 1 pixel. See picture below. I am new to development, but I have been programming for years now. What would you guys suggest to try these different things out. How would I simulate a similar frame by frame testing as they do in the above picture? Thanks!

• Graphics card support

  Brand new user to Ubuntu and Linux. Quick question that I think already know the answer to: Does Ubuntu 11.10 have an updated driver for my graphics card? I was planning on being able to s-video out and watch videos on my tv like I could when I had Vista installed. daryl@daryl-Aspire-3050:~$ lspci -nn | grep VGA 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc RS482 [Radeon Xpress 200M] [1002:5975] ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 is the actual card. As it is, Ubuntu is not recognizing when I plug an s-video cable into my laptop. I've narrowed it down to using what I think is a generic driver because all of the s-video enable commands I found and tried have failed.

• Chrome dispay Glich when GPU acc. on

  Hy Everyone! I have some graphics glich when enable gpu acc. in chrome. If i disable acceleraion it fix the glich but, in full HD most of flash videos frame rate drop above frogs a**, so very slow... :) Any idea, what can i do? I Upload 2 pics from glich. My hardware: CM Hyper TX 3 on AMD A5300 with HD 7480D 6 GB RAM I use official AMD driver from amd.com, Ubuntu 14.04(I upgraded from 12.04, in Ubuntu 12, same glitch with old drivers.) I reinstalld x.org completly and purge all config files, but this didnt resolve the problem. • Way to make Shotwell use ffmpegthumbnailer instead of Totem for thumbnails?

  Totem never works right in my experience. My latest problem is that totem will not display some video Thumbnails. I fixed the problem by installing ffmpegthumbnailer and using this to generate thumbnails. But unfortunately it appears to have only fixed the problem within Nautilus. Shotwell, it seems, is still relying on Totem for its thumbnails because all the same videos that Totem wouldn't show Thumbnails for, Shotwell still won't either--even though Nautilus is now showing thumbnails for them because of ffmpegthumbnailer. How do I get Shotwell to use ffmpegthumbnailer instead of Totem for video thumbnails?

• Any tips to learn how to program with severe ADHD?

  I have a difficult time trying to learn how to program from straight text-books. Video training seems to work well for me in my past experiences with PHP. I am trying my hardest to stay focussed and push through. Specifically I am looking to start indie game development. Over the last two weeks I have been trying to pick the "right" language and framework to develop with. I started going through Python, but I am not really enjoying the language so far. I am constantly looking through this website to compare this language to that, and keep getting distracted. Aside from all of this, is it possible to become a programmer when you have trouble focussing? • Most effective marketing strategy to promote a casual iOS game?

  So I posted this on another forum yesterday but that forum got suspended for malware so gotta wait for the webmaster to fix the site. Here's the basics: We've released a press release through PRMac that included a video review. Submitted and followed up on all the big iOS review sites. None of them replied back with interest. A lot of them just told me that their editors are volunteers who will review games that are "interesting to their readers" and that they would put my app "into consideration" The only site that reviewed our app and promoted virally was iPhoneAppReview.com which we paid. We promoted on the top iOS forums We are now doing in-app advertising through inMobi and are integrating the SDK code into our app to start doing Tapjoy We posted up our gameplay videos on YouTube Any marketing strategies that anyone can suggest or recommend that we haven't used yet? If anyone wants to try out our game and give feedback on the game or the site or anything, that would be great! Our target countries are Japan, China, and the US.

• How can I reach over 100% volume with a keyboard shortcut?

  sometimes the sound of videos isn't enough for me. so i reach the sound indicator , over sound preferences and change it to a level higher than 100%. the question is how can i do it from the keyboard? now i can control the volume from the keyboard but it's maximum is 100%. is there a way to do that? EDIT 1: how to use amixer and scripts to do it? (as Lyrositor suggested) EDIT2: the closest answer , as Jo-erland, suggested is to set a hotkey to bring up the gnome-volume-control, and then to use left and right arrows to change volume also beyond the 100% mark. any other suggestions, to make this 1 step only? is it possible to set a hotkey to do a sequence of commands ?

  SharePoint 2010 Training: more information First of all, I am a proponent of SharePoint apps. As I have said many times over, SharePoint Apps make me very ‘appy, they are very app-propriate. But there are some points to consider that make a bit app-rehensive. These are all mentioned in my book “SharePoint 2013 - Planet of the Apps”, .. but here are some thoughts of the negatives of Apps that I think we need to consider before diving in, Mutliple Servers, More Complexity Apps, by definition will include an extra server. This excludes SharePoint-hosted apps of course. Extra servers by definition will add more complexity. As it is, when you introduce SharePoint to an organization, the number of servers multiply like bunnies. Now you will have additional servers, and these servers talking with each other. • No voice on front headphone port.

  I have a strange problem. It just happen recently, when I accidentally unplug my headphone. But I unplugged it before and nothing happen. Basically now, when I use my headphone through front jack, when playing videos, I can't hear voice. Only background music. Using kde sound setup, pressing front left and front right test button, result in a mono sound. No distinction between right and left. This only happen with front jack. Rear jack is working fine.

  Usually whenever I see tutorial videos (apart from the main subject) I learn a lot from their working habits, for example; they way they have set up their folders, what shotcuts they use. The best example was (long time a go) I say a jquery video, and half way through the author said something like “by the way you could have a code library” – that’s the only thing I remember from that video (but the author said it as something he assumed people know about) So I was wondering if someone knows any tip or any website which goes other how other professionals work, how they have set up their programming habits to help them not waste time in repetitive tasks.

• Places Folders Open in Archive Manager

  Am relatively new to Ubuntu. Currently running 10.10, which was an upgrade from 10.4, which was an upgrade from 9.10, which was a fresh install. Have never compressed anything in Ubuntu, but because I wanted to use the contents of a large folder on a Windows machine, I installed 7zip. Using Places, I navigated to the folder I wanted to compress, right-clicked, chose Compress, selected 7-zip and started the compression. This took many minutes to complete (the final 7z file is over 2.2 GB), but when I copied it to the windows machine, 7-zip handles it fine. However, now when I open Places, the Home Folder, User folder, Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos and Downloads all open the Archive Manager which gives an error message that it "Could not create the archive" because the "Archive type not supported." If I open Places/Computer choose the usr folder from places on the left and right-click/Properties on any of the folders, Music for instance, there is no place to change the "open with." Anyone know how to get this working again.

• Google analytics/adwords account and leaking of private data

  I am frequently asked to log into clients google analytics and adwords accounts. If I forget to log out before visiting other google properties (google search, youtube etc), this leaves tracks of my views/searches etc, exposing my activities to the client. Summary: Client gives me access to their Google Analytics / AdWords account I log into clients Analytics account and do some stuff Then in another tab I perform some related google searches to solve some related issues Issues solved, I then close the Analytics tab I then visit google.com, perform some unrelated searches I then visit YouTube, view some unrelated videos All Web and YouTube searches are recorded in clients google account, thus leaking potentially sensitive data Even assuming that I remember to log out correctly at step 4 (as I do 95% of the time), anything I do at step 3 is exposed to the client. I would be surprised if this is not a very common issue. I'm looking for a technical solution to ensure that this can never happen. Any ideas?
