  • Java Basics: create class object

    - by user1767853
    In C++: class Rectangle { int x, y; public: void set_values (int,int); int area () {return (x*y);} }; int main () { Rectangle rect; rect.set_values (3,4); } In Java: class Rectangle { int x, y; void set_values (int x,int y); int area () {return (x*y);} } public static void main(String[] args) { Rectangle rect=new Rectangle(3,4); } In C++ compiler will create rect object & reserve memory 4 bytes. I want to know How Java is creating object?

  • x.gif in Apache logs

    - by T. Stone
I manage a Django site where we host the media on a subdomain. There shouldn't be any requests for media to the main domain. However I keep seeing these requests for "x.gif" showing up in the access logs on the domain that's handled by WSGI (not the media domain). Can anyone explain what this is? • Windows Server 2008: specifying the default IP address when NIC has multiple addresses

    - by Cédric Boivin
I have a Windows Server which has ~10 IP addresses statically bound. The problem is I don't know how to specify the default IP address. Sometimes when I assign a new address to the NIC, the default IP address changes with the last IP entered in the advanced IP configuration on the NIC. This has the effect (since I use NAT) that the outgoing public IP changes too. Even though this problem is currently on Windows Server 2008 How can you set the default IP address on a NIC when it has multiple IP addresses bound? There is more explication on my probleme. Here is the ipconfig DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.99.49(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : • VB6 Scheduled tasks on Windows Server 2008 Standard

    - by Terry
Hello, this is my first time using this forum. Here is my situation: We are having issues with specific tasks written in VB6 it would seem. I am not a developer, but I am told these tasks exe are written in VB6. The task is initiated by task scheduler, the process begins to run (you can view the task in task manager, but no resources are used, 00 CPU, 760 K RAM), but nothing occurs. In a normal operating situation, the task will use 25% CPU and up to 20 MB RAM. When the task fails to run, you can still end and start it via Task Scheduler, but nothing happens. If you run just the process via the exe, it runs fine. The problem just seems to be when it is initiated via Task Scheduler. And this is a random issue, which always disappears after a server reboot. All of these tasks are VB 6 applications on Windows Server 2008 Standard, some servers are SP1, some are SP2, but both versions experience the issue. The task has been configured to run with highest priviledges, and to run whether logged on or not. Setting compatibility mode on the exe to 2003 does not make a difference. Situation 1: 51 - ERROR - Program did not appear to complete, check server!! (Desc: Input past end of file) in this situation, the task is running in task scheduler and you can view the process in task manager. . In the log file, all that is logged is: 12/17/2009 03:16 Starting T2 Populator version - 1.0.12 You can just end the task via task scheduler and start it via task scheduler and away it goes Situation 2: 36 - ERROR - Program last ran on 16-Dec-2009 in this situation the task is running in Task Scheduler and you can view the process in task manager, but no resources are used, 00 CPU, 760 K RAM. Nothing is logged in the log file. You end the task via task scheduler, but you must manually run the exe for it to complete. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced issues with VB6 tasks, or any tasks for that matter, on Server 2008?

  • passwd ldap request to ActiveDirectory fails on half of 2500 users

    - by groovehunter
We just setup ActiveDirectory in my company and imported all linux users and groups. On the linux client: (configured to ask ldap in nsswitch.conf): If i do a common ldapsearch to the AD ldap server i get the complete number of about 2580 users. But if i do this it only gets a part of all users, 1221 in number: getent passwd | wc -l Running it with strace shows kind of attempt to reconnect My ideas were: Does the linux authentication procedure run ldapsearch with a parameter incompatible to AD ldap ? Or probably it is a encoding issue. The windows user are entered in AD with all kind of characters. Maybe someone could shed light on this and give a hint how to debug that further!? • Is there a Unix/Linux platform equivalent to Telligent Community?

    - by Scott A. Lawrence
Telligent Community combines blogs, wikis, forums, and file-sharing capabilities into a single product with single sign-on, using all Microsoft technologies. Is there an equivalent offering that runs on Unix/Linux? Or would I have to pick and choose individual product offerings and figure out another option for single sign-on across them? Are there plug-ins for something like WordPress or MovableType that might add the necessary functionality? A friend of mine is looking to add a "members-only" area to her company's website, and since they're hosted on Dreamhost (and can't afford StackExchange pricing yet), I'm trying to find other options for them.

  • I can't send email from my server to gmail addresses

I'm using postfix, and have setup spf, dkim, and domainkeys. I can get my email to go to Yahoo, but not gmail. Here's the headers from an email send to Yahoo. • Nginx and PHP-FPM running out of connections

I keep running into errors like these, [02-Jun-2012 01:52:04] WARNING: [pool www] seems busy (you may need to increase pm.start_servers, or pm.min/max_spare_servers), spawning 8 children, there are 19 idle, and 49 total children [02-Jun-2012 01:52:05] WARNING: [pool www] seems busy (you may need to increase pm.start_servers, or pm.min/max_spare_servers), spawning 16 children, there are 19 idle, and 50 total children [02-Jun-2012 01:52:06] WARNING: [pool www] seems busy (you may need to increase pm.start_servers, or pm.min/max_spare_servers), spawning 32 children, there are 19 idle, and 51 total children [02-Jun-2012 03:10:51] WARNING: [pool www] seems busy (you may need to increase pm.start_servers, or pm.min/max_spare_servers), spawning 8 children, there are 18 idle, and 91 total children I changed my settings for php-fpm to these, pm.max_children = 150 (It was at 100, i got a max_children reached and upped to 150) pm.start_servers = 75 pm.min_spare_servers = 20 pm.max_spare_servers = 150 Resulting in [02-Jun-2012 01:39:19] WARNING: [pool www] server reached pm.max_children setting (150), consider raising it I've just launched a new website that is getting a conciderable amount of traffic on it. I have limited connections to my server with IPTABLES and I'm running fail2ban and keeping track of nginx access logs. The traffic is all legitimate, i'm just running out of room for users. I have setup a DNS server which isnt working properly. My domain is accswift.com which has glued to two name servers ns1.accswift.com and ns2.accswift.com for the same IP address - 203.78.164.18. On domain end everything should be fine. Please check -http://www.intodns.com/accswift.com I am sure its the problem with the linux server. Can anyone help me find where the problem is for me? • Is there a Unix/Linux platform equivalent of Telligent Community (formerly Community Server)?

  • mint linux, DVD drive keeps randomly being accessed. unsure how to find culprit

    - by juicebox
I have a workstation with mint linux 12. It seems like the DVD drive on the machine keeps randomly "activating". By activating it makes noise, the light turns on, and it seems like it is checking if a disk is in it. At first I thought I was being hacked and someone/something was trying to check if I had media in the DVDRom drive. I ruled that out with netstat and rkhunter. I checked my logs and the only thing I can find that might help point out the problem are these repeated chunks in syslog: Mar 24 17:47:31 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9846.551422] ata2.00: cmd a0/00:00:00:08:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0 pio 16392 in Mar 24 17:47:31 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9846.551424] res 51/40:01:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 Emask 0x10 (ATA bus error) Mar 24 17:47:31 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9846.551427] ata2.00: status: { DRDY ERR } Mar 24 17:47:31 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9846.551433] ata2.00: hard resetting link Mar 24 17:47:32 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9846.868012] ata2.01: hard resetting link Mar 24 17:47:32 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9847.344054] ata2.00: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310) Mar 24 17:47:32 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9847.344067] ata2.01: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300) Mar 24 17:47:32 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9847.376118] ata2.00: configured for PIO0 Mar 24 17:47:32 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9847.393047] ata2.01: configured for UDMA/133 Mar 24 17:47:32 rich-MINT kernel: [ 9847.397046] ata2: EH complete and again Mar 24 17:55:28 rich-MINT kernel: [10323.633268] sr 1:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002 Mar 24 17:55:28 rich-MINT kernel: [10323.633270] : Sense Key : Aborted Command [current] [descriptor] Mar 24 17:55:28 rich-MINT kernel: [10323.633275] : Add. • DHCP reply packets do not make it into KVM instance in OpenStack

    - by Lorin Hochstein
I'm running a KVM instance inside of OpenStack, and it isn't getting an IP address from the DHCP server. • Excel: conditionally format a cell using the format of another, content-matching cell

    - by Eric A. Meyer
I have an Excel spreadsheet where I’d like to be able to create a “key” of formatted cells with unique values, and then in another sheet format cells using the key formatting. So for example, my key is as follows, with one value per cell and the visual formatting indicated in parentheses: A (red background) B (green background) C (blue background) So that’s on one sheet (or in a remote corner of the current sheet—whichever is better). Then, in an area that I mark for conditional formatting, I can type one of those three letters and have the cell where I typed it visually formatted according to the key. So if I type a “B” into one of the conditionally formatted cells, it gets a green background. (Note that I’m using backgrounds here solely for ease of explanation: ideally I want to have all visual formatting copied over, whether it’s foreground color, background color, font weight, borders, or whatever. But I’ll take what I can get, obviously.) And—just to make it extra-tricky—if I change the formatting in the key, that change should be reflected in cells that reference the key. Thus, if I change the “B” formatting in the key from a green background to a purple background, any “B” in the main sheet should switch to the new color. Similarly, it should be possible to add or remove values from the key and have those changes applied to the main data set. I’m okay with the formatting-update-on-key-change being triggered by clicking a button or something. I suspect that if any of this is possible it will require VBA, but I’ve never used it so I’ve no idea where to start if that’s the case. I’m hoping it’s possible without VBA. I know it’s possible to just use multiple conditional formats, but my use case here is that I’m trying to create the above-described capability for someone who isn’t conversant with conditional formatting. I’d like to let them be able to define a key, update it if necessary, and keep on truckin’ without me having to rewrite the spreadsheet’s formatting rules for them. --- UPDATE --- So I think I was a bit unclear about my original request. Let me try again with an image. The image shows the “key” on the left, where values and styles are defined using keyboard and mouse input. On the right, you see the data that should be formatted to match the key. Thus if I type a “C” into a cell in the Data area, it should be blue-backed. Furthermore, if I change the formatting of “C” in the Key to have a purple background, all the “C” cells should switch from blue to purple. For further craziness, if I add more to the Key (say, “D” with a yellow background) then any “D” cells will be styled to match; if I remove a Key entry, then matching values in the Data area should revert to default styling. So. Is that more clear? Is it possible, in whole or in part? I don’t have to use conditional formatting for this; in fact, at this point I suspect I probably shouldn’t. But I’m open to any approach!

  • why can't I open a port on Win 7? is it the app's fault?

    - by rjnagle
I am having problems opening a port from one Windows PC on my local network. On Windows 7 computer ("Computer A") I running Calibre, an ebook management program that has something called an "ebook content server" . In essence, it serves via the web a content catalog. From Computer A, I can access the content server on localhost. ie. http://127.0.0.1:8787 calls up the content server successfully. With ipconfig I have confirmed that its local IP address is 192.168.1.106 From Computer B (a Vista Machine) I can ping 192.168.1.106 I have tried opening/editing a port in the Windows Firewall several times. In Windows firewall -- Allowed Programs in Control Panel, I see a listing for Calibre (with both Home/Work and PUblic checked) In details, I see Name: Calibre, Port Number 8787, Protocol TCP If I use the Advanced Security configuration screen for the firewall, I created an Inbound Rule on Computer A for Calibre (with the settings I indicated). If I run this command line on Computer A, I see: netstat -a -n TCP 0.0.0.0:554 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:664 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:2869 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:3306 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:5357 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:6570 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:6580 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:8787 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 0.0.0.0:10243 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING TCP 192.168.1.106:63020 74.125.227.51:80 TIME_WAIT TCP [::]:80 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:135 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:443 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:445 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:554 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:2869 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:5357 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:6570 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:6580 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:10243 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:49152 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:49153 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:49154 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:49155 [::]:0 LISTENING TCP [::]:49170 [::]:0 LISTENING And lots of other junk, but this seems relevant, I see port 80 is open (I run xampp apache web server for windows on Machine A) This is the only time I see port 8787 referenced from the netstat commmand. From Windows Computer B, I can, ping 192.168.1.106 and even view http://drupal.local (on Computer A) and http://192.168.1.106/ (which goes to the Xampp config screen on Computer A). But I cannot access via Computer B htttp://192.168.1.106:8787 or htttp://computerhosta:8787 So what is going wrong? Is this a problem with the Calibre application or have I incorrectly opened the port? What things could possibly interfere with the opening of this port? On a sidenote, I have tried using telnet from Computer B to see if port 80 or 8787 is open for 192.168.1.106. I get no reply for either one. Thanks.

  • Windows XP long login (15 minutes +)

    - by Emily Pinkerton
I'm having a lot of issues with our Windows XP SP3 machines (about 5, but every week another gets on the bandwagon of this issue). They take forever (15 minutes) to apply the user settings once our employee's enter their username and password to login to our domain. It only happens say if a user has reboot the machine and then when they go to log back in then it hangs forever. Reboot and restart are the key words for sure I've noticed with this issue. Here are things I have tested: •Made sure the DNS was set to point to our two servers (Server01 & Server02 are DNS Domain Controllers, 01 is primary and 02 backup). •No major changes have been applied to our network. •All profiles are local, so I have deleted out local profiles that aren't being used on those machines that run slow. •Also I have tried to enable and disable the Enable Fast Login under the local machines GP. It was not configured originally and when I tested both, it made the computer hang on "applying computer settings" for about 15 minutes. When it finally came up to the login screen the it was very quick to login to the domain. However this doesn't fix my issue, and even more frustrating upon setting it back to being not configured it now still takes for forever to apply computer settings. •I enabled the userenv log and here is what I see, but my experience is limited and I'm not sure how to read it exactly. (see below for log, this isn't the whole thing because it's really long) USERENV(2ec.2f0) 10:50:41:843 LoadUserProfile: LoadUserProfileP succeeded USERENV(2ec.2f0) 10:50:41:843 LoadUserProfile: Returning success. • Snow Leopard Servers built in Wiki vs Mediawiki?

    - by semi
I recently installed Snow Leopard Server and am trying to get the most out of the services it offers, but one thing that currently seems pretty barebones is the Wiki it provides. Can Snow Leopard Servers wiki be modified with plugins the way MediaWiki can? Are there any good plugins to allow you to include templates like MediaWiki? Is there any way to include embeded syntax highlighted example code? Is there even a good name to refer to it as when searching for it? "Snow Leopard Wiki" just turns up a bunch of wikis about SL. Alternatively, how hard is it to install MediaWiki(or some other more advanced wiki engine) on SL Server? Could you plug it in to the same authentication mechanism?

  • Postmaster uses excessive CPU and Disk Writes

    - by wolfcastle
    using PostgreSQL 9.1.2 I'm seeing excessive CPU usage and large amounts of writes to disk from postmaster tasks. This happens even while my application is doing almost nothing (10s of inserts per MINUTE). There are a reasonable number of connections open however. I've been trying to determine what in my application is causing this. I'm pretty newb with postgresql, and haven't gotten anywhere so far. I've turned on some logging options in my config file, and looked at connections in the pg_stat_activity table, but they are all idle. Yet each connection consumes ~ 50% CPU, and is writing ~15M/s to disk (reading nothing). I'm basically using the stock postgresql.conf with very little tweaks. I'd appreciate any advice or pointers on what I can do to track this down. Here is a sample of what top/iotop is showing me: Cpu(s): 18.9%us, 14.4%sy, 0.0%ni, 53.4%id, 11.8%wa, 0.0%hi, 1.5%si, 0.0%st Mem: 32865916k total, 7263720k used, 25602196k free, 575608k buffers Swap: 16777208k total, 0k used, 16777208k free, 4464212k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 17057 postgres 20 0 236m 33m 13m R 45.0 0.1 73:48.78 postmaster 17188 postgres 20 0 219m 15m 11m R 42.3 0.0 61:45.57 postmaster 17963 postgres 20 0 219m 16m 11m R 42.3 0.1 27:15.01 postmaster 17084 postgres 20 0 219m 15m 11m S 41.7 0.0 63:13.64 postmaster 17964 postgres 20 0 219m 17m 12m R 41.7 0.1 27:23.28 postmaster 18688 postgres 20 0 219m 15m 11m R 41.3 0.0 63:46.81 postmaster 17088 postgres 20 0 226m 24m 12m R 41.0 0.1 64:39.63 postmaster 24767 postgres 20 0 219m 17m 12m R 41.0 0.1 24:39.24 postmaster 18660 postgres 20 0 219m 14m 9.9m S 40.7 0.0 60:51.52 postmaster 18664 postgres 20 0 218m 15m 11m S 40.7 0.0 61:39.61 postmaster 17962 postgres 20 0 222m 19m 11m S 40.3 0.1 11:48.79 postmaster 18671 postgres 20 0 219m 14m 9m S 39.4 0.0 60:53.21 postmaster 26168 postgres 20 0 219m 15m 10m S 38.4 0.0 59:04.55 postmaster Total DISK READ: 0.00 B/s | Total DISK WRITE: 195.97 M/s TID PRIO USER DISK READ DISK WRITE SWAPIN IO> COMMAND 17962 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 14.83 M/s 0.00 % 0.25 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 17084 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 15.53 M/s 0.00 % 0.24 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 17963 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 15.00 M/s 0.00 % 0.24 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 17188 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 14.80 M/s 0.00 % 0.24 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 17964 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 15.50 M/s 0.00 % 0.24 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 18664 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 15.13 M/s 0.00 % 0.23 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 17088 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 14.71 M/s 0.00 % 0.13 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 18688 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 14.72 M/s 0.00 % 0.00 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 24767 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 14.93 M/s 0.00 % 0.00 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 18671 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 16.14 M/s 0.00 % 0.00 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 17057 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 13.58 M/s 0.00 % 0.00 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 26168 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 15.50 M/s 0.00 % 0.00 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle 18660 be/4 postgres 0.00 B/s 15.85 M/s 0.00 % 0.00 % postgres: aggw aggw [local] idle

  • Convert mkv/h264 video so it can be played on a "mid-range" Sony Ericsson phone. (using Ubuntu).

    - by Johan
Hi As a little experiment I thinking of converting some video/movies/tv-series into a format that could be playable on my K850, but to be a little bit more generic in this question let's say "mid range Sony Ericsson" phone since they all more or less behave the same and has the same screen resolution (240 x 320). I am looking for command line based tools (for Ubuntu), since I am thinking about writing a "convert and move" script later if it is successful. A lot of the video I have is encoded in mkv/h264, but since that is not supported by the phone I guess that I need to convert it into some mp4/mpeg4 low quality video. After some googling it seems like a good candidate for the job is ffmpeg, but that seems to be a very versatile tool with a lot of magic tricks. Am I on the right track? And if so how do I use ffmpeg to do this? Thanks Johan Update: After plating a little bit with ffmeg I noticed that it only uses 1 of my 4 cores, so the transcoding takes forever. I found a arg called -threads but that did not change much, maybe I got it wrong. I also found that something like this plays in the phone. ffmpeg -i Mythbusters\ S1D1_1.mkv -threads 4 -t 180 -vcodec mpeg4 -r 15 -s 320x240 Mythbusters\ S1D1_1_mini.mp4 It was possible to use 3gp/h263, but the quality was really useless. ffmpeg -i Mythbusters\ S1D1_1.mkv -t 180 -vcodec h263 -acodec libfaac -s cif Mythbusters\ S1D1_1_cif.3gp And it seems like mp4/h264 is also possible and the result is ok, thanks to this question, this one seem to use more than one core as well so it was a little bit faster for me. ffmpeg -i Mythbusters_S1D1_1.mkv -t 180 -acodec libfaac -ab 60k -s 320x240 -vcodec libx264 -b 500k -flags +loop -cmp +chroma -partitions +parti4x4+partp8x8+partb8x8 -flags2 +mixed_refs -me_method umh -subq 6 -trellis 1 -refs 5 -coder 0 -me_range 16 -g 250 -keyint_min 25 -sc_threshold 40 -i_qfactor 0.71 -bt 500k -maxrate 768k -bufsize 2M -qcomp 0.6 -qmin 10 -qmax 51 -qdiff 4 -level 13 -threads 0 -f mp4 Mythbusters_S1D1_1_qvga.mp4 Update: I have tried to use HandBrakeCLI and it is no problem creating a new file that seem to be the same as the one created with ffmpeg with something like this. HandBrakeCLI -i Mythbusters_S1D1_1.mkv --size 100 -E faac -B 60 --maxHeight 240 -r 15 -e x264 -o Mythbusters_S1D1_1_hand.mp4 But that one did not play in the phone... I found this in the official manual: If you transfer video clips using another program than Media Go™, we recommend that you select H.264 Baseline profile video, up to QVGA at 30 fps, VBR 384 kbps (max 768 kps) with AAC+ audio at 128 kbps (max 255 kbps), 48 kHz and stereo audio in mp4 file format. So the idea to use H264 seems to be correct.

  • Slow wifi from Windows Server 2003 virtualized in XenServer

    - by John Clayton
I'm a brand spanking new user of OS X, coming from a lifetime of Windows use. I've been setting up my new Macbook Pro and have run into a very unusual problem. Over wifi, I am unable to copy files to or from my Windows Home Server. The problem seems to exist only over wifi, and only to WHS. Here are the details of my setup: 2010 Macbook Pro (Core i7), OS X 10.6.3 Windows Home Server PP3 (virtualized in XenServer 5.5) Windows 7 Ultimate x64 desktop Windows 7 Ultimate x64 in Boot Camp D-Link DIR-655 wireless N router Here is what I've done to narrow down the problem: Files copy fine from WHS to OS X when using gigabit ethernet Files copy fine from desktop to OS X when using gigabit ethernet Files fail to copy from WHS to OS X when using wifi (error -51) Files copy fine from desktop to OS X when using wifi Files copy fine from WHS to Boot Camp when using wifi Files copy fine from desktop to Boot Camp when using wifi From what I can tell, it seems to be some sort of issue between OS X and WHS, but I can't for the life of me see what would be different between shares on WHS and my desktop. They are both connected using smb://ADDRESS (I've tried both by IP and name). I can browse the shares on the WHS, but copying to OS X fails. I originally found the issue while installing VS2010 off an ISO from WHS, mounted to a Windows 7 VM using VMware Fusion. During the installation the VM was unusable - even the clock got behind the host be about 8 minutes. Once I plugged in the ethernet and disabled the wifi things picked up and finished quickly. The Fusion 3.1 RC is the only I think of that I installed that may have messed with the wifi driver. I've also tried resetting the wifi router, and have changed it from being G & N to N-only. Under Boot Camp I get similar speeds as my wife's N laptop. Any ideas? Thanks! Update: The issue has been further narrowed down to Windows Server 2003, which Windows Home Server is based on, running in XenServer with the XenServer tools installed.

  • Apache strace to hunt down a memory leak

    - by Zipp
    We have a server with a memory issue: the server keeps allocating itself memory and doesn't release it. We're running Apache. I set MaxReqsPerClient to a really low value just so the threads don't hold a lot of memory, but has anyone seen calls like this? Am I wrong in thinking that it's probably Drupal pulling too much data back from the cache in DB? read(52, "h_index\";a:2:{s:6:\"weight\";i:1;s"..., 6171) = 1368 read(52, "\";a:2:{s:6:\"author\";a:3:{s:5:\"la"..., 4803) = 1368 read(52, ":\"description\";s:19:\"Term name t"..., 3435) = 1368 read(52, "abel\";s:4:\"Name\";s:11:\"descripti"..., 2067) = 1368 read(52, "ions\";a:2:{s:4:\"form\";a:3:{s:4:\""..., 16384) = 708 brk(0x2ab554396000) = 0x2ab5542f5000 mmap(NULL, 1048576, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x2ab55f653000 brk(0x2ab554356000) = 0x2ab5542f5000 mmap(NULL, 1048576, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x2ab55f753000 brk(0x2ab554356000) = 0x2ab5542f5000 mmap(NULL, 1048576, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x2ab55f853000 brk(0x2ab554356000) = 0x2ab5542f5000 mmap(NULL, 1048576, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x2ab55f953000 brk(0x2ab554356000) = 0x2ab5542f5000 mmap(NULL, 1048576, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x2ab55fa53000 brk(0x2ab554356000) = 0x2ab5542f5000 mmap(NULL, 1048576, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x2ab55fb53000 brk(0x2ab554356000) = 0x2ab5542f5000 mmap(NULL, 1048576, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x2ab55fc53000 poll([{fd=52, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}], 1, 0) = 0 (Timeout) write(52, "d\0\0\0\3SELECT cid, data, created, "..., 104) = 104 read(52, "\1\0\0\1\5E\0\0\2\3def\23drupal_database_nam"..., 16384) = 1368 read(52, ";s:11:\"granularity\";a:5:{s:4:\"ye"..., 34783) = 1368 read(52, ":4:\"date\";}s:9:\"datestamp\";a:9:{"..., 33415) = 1368 read(52, "\";i:0;s:15:\"display_default\";i:0"..., 32047) = 1368 read(52, "e as an integer value.\";s:8:\"set"..., 30679) = 1368 read(52, "label' pairs, i.e. 'Fraction': 0"..., 29311) = 1368 top (the procs just keep growing in memory..): 12845 apache 15 0 581m 246m 37m S 0.0 4.1 0:17.39 httpd 12846 apache 15 0 571m 235m 37m S 0.0 4.0 0:12.13 httpd 12833 apache 15 0 420m 117m 37m S 0.0 2.0 0:06.04 httpd 12851 apache 15 0 412m 113m 37m S 0.0 1.9 0:05.32 httpd 13871 apache 15 0 409m 109m 37m S 0.0 1.8 0:04.90 httpd 12844 apache 15 0 407m 108m 37m S 0.0 1.8 0:04.50 httpd 13870 apache 15 0 407m 108m 37m S 0.3 1.8 0:03.50 httpd 14903 apache 15 0 402m 103m 37m S 0.3 1.7 0:01.29 httpd 14850 apache 15 0 397m 100m 37m S 0.0 1.7 0:02.08 httpd 14907 apache 15 0 390m 93m 36m S 0.0 1.6 0:01.32 httpd 13872 apache 15 0 386m 91m 37m S 0.0 1.5 0:03.13 httpd 12843 apache 15 0 373m 81m 37m S 0.0 1.4 0:02.51 httpd 14901 apache 15 0 370m 75m 33m S 0.0 1.3 0:00.78 httpd 14904 apache 15 0 335m 29m 15m S 0.0 0.5 0:00.26 httpd
