  • Diabetic trying to use Ubuntu with Medtronic Carelink insulin pump support USB device

    I am taking a wild shot here: I am a type 1 diabetic who is going on the Insulin pump. Unfortunately, the Medtronic Carelink USB device that uploads data from the pump online only has windows drivers. Has anybody managed to get this working under Ubuntu using Wine or by any other method: lsusb yields: Bus 001 Device 014: ID 0a21:8001 Medtronic Physio Control Corp. MMT-7305WW [Medtronic Minimed CareLink] I really don't want to buy a windows machine just for this, but it's probably one in a million that somebody else has managed to make this work under Linux.

  • Android Eclipse test projects cannot be used with a project being built in an Android build tree

    An Android Java project placed in a git repository and built in an Android tree in /packages/apps needs to have the project files located at the root of the git repository. This is problematic for creating a complementary Test project, which should ideally be included in the same git repository so commits are atomic for both code and tests. Eclipse gets very unhappy if you include the Test project as a subdirectory. Is there an appropriate approach for dealing with this other than creating a second repository?

  • Can't find ant in the Android SDK

    Hey all, I'm working my way through APress's Beginning Android 2 and I've made it all the way to chapter 3, where we build a skeleton app. The book tells me to compile my application by typing "ant" in the command line, but my pc doesn't know what "ant" is yet. I checked in the SDK files and it looks like it wasn't included with the Android SDK. Does anybody know where ant is? Thanks

  • Hide divider without hiding childDivider on ExpandableListView

    I can't find a way to hide dividers on an ExpandableListView without hiding the child dividers too. Here is my code. <ExpandableListView android:id="@+id/activities_list" android:background="@android:color/transparent" android:fadingEdge="none" android:groupIndicator="@android:color/transparent" android:divider="@android:color/transparent" android:childDivider="@drawable/list_divider" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> With this code, I get no dividers on groups but no child dividers neither. If I set android:divider to "@drawable/list_divider" I get both group and child dividers. Thanks in advance!

  • USB3 boot device disappears post-grub

    I have an installation of Ubuntu 12.10 on a USB3 device, and it occasionally disappears during boot, dropping me into busybox. This is what I've been able to figure out so far: During a single boot, the following happened: At the grub2 menu, I typed c and dropped to the grub> prompt I typed ls -l and got a list of all the devices, including partitions and UUIDs - the USB3 partitions were available I escaped back to the boot select menu, selected the default item (ubuntu) and hit enter The screen went black for a second before turning into the purple Ubuntu boot screen with the dots (which usually indicates that the boot will fail. When all is well I don't get the black screen) The boot dropped into BusyBox v1.19.3 with the message `ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/[uuid] does not exist blkid displays all of the partitions except those of the USB3 device, as does ls /dev/disk/by-uuid or any of the alternatives.

  • Help identifying device and driver for 0bda:1724

    I've got a new Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13. The onboard lan/bluetooth device is identified in Linux as 0bda:1724 (via lsusb). No network peripherals are reported from lspci. From the interwebs, the vendor:product above looks to be RT2573, however, in Windows, the device is identified as RTL8723A. Unfortunately, I have followed both roads, trying rt2500usb, rt2x00usb, and rtl8723e. I have emailed Realtek asking them for help but so far my email has fallen on deaf ears.     Doing a bit of advance research, and am stuck on the point summarized in the title. Namely, is there any way to forward-lock an APK installed programmatically, from another app? I've not come across anything beyond a hint in the following post: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/msg/e39941389d4a4cf8 I can't see anything in the docs for PackageManager about forward- locking, but I readily confess that this is an unfamiliar area of the SDK for me.     This question is linked with the answers in the following question: Error removing Bitmaps[Android] Is there any advantage of using Drawable over Bitmap in Android in terms of memory de-allocation ? I was looking at Romain Guy project Shelves and he uses SoftReference for images caches but I'm unable to search where is the code which is de-allocating these Drawables when SoftReference automatically reclaims the memory for Bitmap. As far as I know .recycle() has to be explicitly called on the Bitmap for it to be de-allocated.

    I am trying to setup Appgate Ip tunneling driver on my ubuntu 12.04 by following appgate instructions listed below: Installation, Linux Make sure the kernel has support for the Universal TUN/TAP device driver, and then log in as root and create a new directory somewhere, and copy the files ag_iptd add_route add_gw_route add_hosts_entry ag_iptd clean_hosts_file del_route del_gw_route del_hosts_entry interface_down interface_up remove_dns_server set_dns_server fix_localhost into that directory. Then start the IPTD daemon by doing modprobe tun <directory-somewhere>/ag_iptd There is also an init script 'ag_iptd.init' that can be installed to automatically start the IPTD daemon every time the OS is loaded.Please check the documentation of your Linux distribution on howto do this. so is there any way to checkif my ubuntu 12.04 kernel has support for the Universal TUN/TAP device driver? and how to do so?     hii i have set up virtual host in apache and and added relevent information in windows host file. it works fine for desktop browsers but i am not able to access this from android simulator's browser. as a example a i created a virtual host "testweb" i added this information in widows hosts file also so in desktop browser it works fine with the url http://testweb/ but in android simulator browser it displays error tht page has been moved .... so plz give me solution what i shud do to work it and where i am getting wrong...plz help me

    I am giving the following method call to my webview client embedded in my layout wv.loadData("<html><body bgcolor=\"Black\"></body></html>","text/html", "utf-8"); when i run this on the device, it shows a white vertical bar on the right side.
