  • Windows 7 doesn't show image size for all images

    On Windows 7's new file layout in Explorer. Some PNGs will show the size whereas others won't. I've tried rebooting and clearing the cache, but it doesn't work. Also, all of these images were saved with Paint.NET, so I am sure that the size isn't embeded in the file, and if it is, it appears that Windows doesn't go by it. The ones without sizes are 300x300. Is there a maximum size before it won't show the size anymore?

  • HTLM notes in freemind

    Hi, I wonder if the following things can be done with the HTML notes pane of freemind: 1- is it possible on the layout view to decrease the separation between lines? 2- the panel is horizontal, is it possible to setup a vertical view? (I have a big, horizontal-like monitor) By the way, when I move the mouse pointer over a node, i can see the HTLM note associated with it, but its view (as a yellow square) only lasts for some seconds. Can it be made permament? Thanks a lot

My layout should look like this: (grub-partition?) /boot ext2 75MB / btrfs 15GB /home btrfs remaining What do I need to do to create these partitions in a correctly aligned fashion using parted? Do I need to consider alignment when formatting each partition with the desired file system?

  • Difference and correct usage for /tmp and /var/tmp

    I haven't put much thought into this until now, but it seems odd that there is a /var/tmp and /tmp directories for most of the linux distro's I routinely use ( Ubuntu, Centos, Redhat ). Is there any semantic difference between the two, like when whoever designed the first file system layout, he or she thought "Not all tmp file's are created equal!" The only difference I've found for centos, is that /tmp routinely scrubs out files older then 240 hours while /var/tmp holds onto stale files for 720 hours.

    I just rolled out a new domain controller. I want to join all the PCS to this new domein (the PCs were never on a domain just a regular workgroup). When I join a PC to the new domain it creates a new profile. How can I migrate (or whats an easy way) the local profile to this new domain profile? Can I keep all settings, desktop layout, outlook 2003 settings etc while doing this?

  • How to install Dvorak Type 2 (ii) German on Ubuntu using Gnome

    Currently I am using standard Dvorak on Ubuntu 13.10 and Gnome 3.10. Unfortunately, writing Umlauts (ä,ö,ü) in German requires me to switch to QWERTY/QWERTZ frequently or forces me to not write those umlauts (which looks strange to German native speakers). Is there a way to use Dvorak Type 2, including the umlauts, but otherwise using the standard English layout on Ubuntu with Gnome? I'm a fast typer on standard English Dvorak and would like to avoid fully switching to German Dvorak as this would (at least temporarily) reduce my typing speed.

  • iPhoto printing PDFs sideways

    When I print to PDF from iPhoto (7.1.5), my scans (which are all portrait) all end up sideways in the PDF file. I've searched high and low for some setting that will alter this. The only one that I could find that would plausibly affect this is the Layout menu item in the Print customisation view, but this has no effect. Even rotating the images doesn't change it. Why is iPhoto printing my PDFs sideways, and how do I get it to stop?

There is no such problem in another sections of document. The one possibility how to display whole area of image is to use floating layout like the first image in presented screenshot. But this solution has disadvantage that I have to manually format image positions after changes in text before.

    Assuming the components like *.dll's, *.ocx's installed and registered on the clients there exists the possibility to place the *.exe and some related files on the fileserver. To start the application there are links on the client's desktops which runs the \fileserver\AppPath\exe. Would you agree with such a layout? What if 'the client' is a terminal-server and 'the clients' means a terminal-server-farm?

  • How can I draw "perfect" squiggly lines in Photoshop?

    I want to create a logo that for the two "o" characters uses a series of squiggly lines in the the shape of an "o". Sketch: I did this with Paint but I obviously want consistency with the squiggly lines and close to a circular layout. Why squiggly lines? Well, it's to reinforce the word itself being "loose". Does anyone have any ideas how to tackle making this or tutorials that do similar things to word art?

  • Fix single entry from mbr

    I use EasyBCD to manage my tripleboot of (1) Windows Server 2008 R2, (2) Windows 7 Professional and (3) Ubuntu Linux. While trying to change the order of my boot menu I ended up losing the Windows Server entry. Luckily I had a boot menu backup (.bcd file) that allowed me to restore my boot menu using EasyBCD. However, when I now select the Windows Server option in my boot menu the Windows Server Recovery Environment starts up. So I have to select language/keyboard layout/etc. and then I have 3 options as shown in the image below. . My goal is to fix the one corrupted Windows Server entry from my boot menu without messing up or losing the two other ones. I'm guessing the Recovery Console (Command Prompt) is the next step and that I will be needing bootrec.exe. But when consulting this page: Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows (about half way down there's a link that shows the bootrec.exe options) I'm getting uncertain. The page lists 4 options for bootrec.exe : /FixMbr /FixBoot /ScanOs /RebuildBcd What option do I need to fix just the server entry of my boot menu? Thanks in advance, Sander P.S. All three OS's are on the same physical disk (3 different partitions).   • What's the reason to break HDD to few partitions for MDADM+LVM2?

    I'm using 2 HDDs each 1TB in size. I'm going to create MDADM+LVM2 over them. Initially I though about this partition layout: /dev/sda1 - 1Gb (boot) /dev/sda2 - 500Gb (md0) /dev/sda3 - 499Gb (md1) /dev/sdb1 - 1Gb (boot) /dev/sdb2 - 500Gb (md0) /dev/sdb3 - 499Gb (md1) md0 is going to be raid0 and md1 is going to be raid1 however, I found some info that this would be better to break each drive to more partitions (lets say 10 partitions 100Gb in size each). What's the reason of doing that?
