  • Cannot interact with checkbox in FireFox or Chrome. Works in IE.

    - by Darxide
    Title says it all. Here's the code: <div id="regpage"> <form action="" method="post"> <fieldset style="border:none;"> <div class="label">Username:</div> <input type="text" name="username" class="item" value="" /><br /> <div class="caption">Must be 5-15 characters</div><br /> <div style="clear:both;"></div> <div class="label">Password:</div> <input type="password" name="password" class="item" value="" /><br /> <div class="caption">Must be 6-20 characters</div><br /> <div style="clear:both;"></div> <div class="label">Email:</div> <input type="text" name="email" class="item" value="" /><br /> <div class="caption">Valid email address is required</div><br /> <div style="clear:both;"></div> <input name="terms" type="checkbox" id="terms" value="agree" /><div class="caption2"><label for="terms">I agree to the terms and conditions</label></div> <p><input type="submit" name="register" value="Register" id="register" style="float:left;border:1px solid #999;background:#E4E4E4;margin-top:5px;" /></p><br /> </fieldset> </form> </div> And the id "regpage" is definded in the style.css as: #regpage { width: 356px; height: 150px; color: #000000; font-family: "Tahoma", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; } If I move the checkbox OUT of it works just fine. But inside it will not interact in Mozilla. I've even tried adding onclick='this.checked="checked"' and it still does not interact. You can click until your blue in the face and nothing will happen. What's the deal! This is REALLY driving me batty.

  • Firefox handles xxx.submit(), Safari doesn't ... what can be done?

    - by Prairiedogg
I'm trying to make a pull down menu post a form when the user selects (releases the mouse) on one of the options from the menu. This code works fine in FF but Safari, for some reason, doesn't submit the form. I re-wrote the code using jquery to see if jquery's .submit() implementation handled the browser quirks better. Same result, works in FF doesn't work in safari. The following snippets are from the same page, which has some django template language mixed in. Here's the vanilla js attempt: function formSubmit(lang) { if (lang != '{{ LANGUAGE_CODE }}') { document.getElementById("setlang_form").submit(); } } Here's the jquery attempt: $(document).ready(function() { $('#lang_submit').hide() $('#setlang_form option').mouseup(function () { if ($(this).attr('value') != '{{ LANGUAGE_CODE }}') { $('#setlang_form').submit() } }); }); and here's the form: <form id="setlang_form" method="post" action="{% url django.views.i18n.set_language %}"> <fieldset> <select name="language"> {% for lang in interface_languages %} <option value="{{ lang.code }}" onmouseup="formSubmit('{{ lang.name }}')" {% ifequal lang.code LANGUAGE_CODE %}selected="selected"{% endifequal %}>{{ lang.name }}</option> {% endfor %} </select> </fieldset> </form> My question is, how can I get this working in Safari?

  • Can Firefox Plugin, Greasmonkey, be detected by Web Servers?

    - by Babar
Hi, My friend's account for some Facebook game was suspended on the grounds that he had Greasemonkey installed on his browser. He is asked to uninstall Greasemonkey and account has been restored. My question is how can a web server detect a client side plugin presence? I assume that Greasemonkey or greasemonkey scripts operate on the client side only so it would not be possible for the server to detect it. Thanks.

  • Can't download file in IE7 but there isn't any problem in Firefox, Chrome, etc..?

    - by levhita
I have an script that receives an encrypted url and from that generates a download, the most critic par of the script is this: $MimeType = new MimeType(); $mimetype = $MimeType->getType($filename); $basename = basename($filename); header("Content-type: $mimetype"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"$basename\""); header('Content-Length: '. filesize($filename)); if ( @readfile($filename)===false ) { header("HTTP/1.0 500 Internal Server Error"); loadErrorPage('500'); } Downloads works as charm in any Browser except IE, I have seen problems related to 'no-cache' headers but I don't send anything like that, they talk about utf-8 characters, but there is not any utf-8 characters(and the $filename has not any utf-8 characteres neither).

  • Is there any common fix for jQuery Firefox error: Could not convert JavaScript argument arg 0?

    - by Abuthakir
I updated jQuery latest version v1.4.2 and getting 'Could not convert JavaScript argument arg 0' this error. Is the any common fix for this. I found some solution and they are saying that when finding dimension for display none element it will give this error. Also the following fix is working for me Placing this if (!elem || elem == document) elem = document.body above this line var computedStyle = defaultView.getComputedStyle(elem, null); I am not sure this is the proper solution. I first found this bug when using jquery blockUI plugin and after updating that plugin to latest version fixed this issue. Anyone suggest me better solution for this?

  • Cannot add DataTables.net javascript into Joomla 1.5

    - by mfmz
I've been having this problem where i couldn't add Datatables.net javascript into my Joomla article. I have been trying to include it through Jumi. To say that my editor strips of the tag is somewhat not right as I have been able to execute Google Chart API in Joomla which also uses javascript. Any clue why? The code is as below : <link href="//datatables.net/download/build/nightly/jquery.dataTables.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"></script> <script src="//datatables.net/download/build/nightly/jquery.dataTables.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready( function () { var table = $('#example').DataTable(); } ); </script>

  • IE and Chrome won't browse the internet on dial up but firefox will. How could I fix it?

    - by Kelbizzle
First let me say I've done plenty of troubleshooting and will try to explain as clearly and as much as I can. Please bear with me. I have a client's computer who uses dial-up and Windows XP. The problem is when I connect to the dial up ISP. IE or Chrome will not browse the internet. It says page cannot be displayed. but if I use firefox on the dialup connection it works. Sounds simple enough there has got to be something wrong with the proxy settings or something...well, that's what I thought here is the weird part. When connected to the LAN in my office IE, Chrome, and FF all work. I upgraded to ie8 and the issue still happens. How would you go about troubleshooting this issue? What should I do next?

  • xvfb on a machine with a display, can an application run 'in the background?'

    - by marfarma
I'm setting up to cron a web scraping job, using xvfb, firefox, and watir on my Mac OS X. In testing the script so far, firefox pops up visibly on the local desktop, the watir script executes, and then firefox exits (I quit firefox in my script). I'd like to set the xvfb DISPLAY such that firefox will run, but won't be seen on the local desktop, running 'in the background' so to speak. Nothing I've been able to find online discusses such a possibility - nor explains that it's not possible. Is it possible? If so, what do I need to do to make it work?

I tried removing openjdk-6, but then it wanted to install openjdk-7 instead, with the same result, hanging at openjdk-7-jre-headless instead. Update After following instructions in the answer by @lpanebr, it is now stuck at the linux-firmware package. So, maybe it's a more general problem than being related to specific package(s)? Although it did download some packages without problems before getting stuck at linux-firmware.

  • How To Automatically Script SQL Server: 'Generate Scripts' for SQL Database

    - by skimania
I want to run scheduled nightly exports of my database code into my SVN source. It's easy to schedule automated check-in's into svn from a folder, but scheduling the export from SQL in SQL Management Studio is Right click target database, choose Tasks Generate Scripts. Follow the wizard and presto you've got scripts in a folder. Is it possible to extract a single script that the wizard generates, and stuff that into a stored proc which I can run nightly? Ideas?

  • unable to run Selenium webdriver in windows - Permission denied - bind(2) (Errno::EACCES)

    - by mrd abd
    I want to start Selenium web driver in Windows 7 with Ruby 2. but i get error Permission denied - bind(2) (Errno::EACCES) Even in running with Administrator permission. here is my simple ruby code: require "selenium-webdriver" driver = Selenium::WebDriver.for :firefox driver.navigate.to "http://google.com" element = driver.find_element(:name, 'q') element.send_keys "Hello WebDriver!" element.submit puts driver.title driver.quit and here is the error: E:\ruby\930305\Studio\Ruby\test>ruby selenium.rb C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/w ebdriver/common/port_prober.rb:28:in `initialize': Permission denied - bind(2) (Errno::EACCES) from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/common/port_prober.rb:28:in `new' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/common/port_prober.rb:28:in `block in free?' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/common/port_prober.rb:26:in `each' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/common/port_prober.rb:26:in `free?' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/common/port_prober.rb:5:in `above' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/firefox/launcher.rb:49:in `find_free_port' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/firefox/launcher.rb:33:in `block in launch' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/firefox/socket_lock.rb:20:in `locked' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/firefox/launcher.rb:32:in `launch' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/firefox/bridge.rb:24:in `initialize' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/common/driver.rb:31:in `new' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver/common/driver.rb:31:in `for' from C:/Ruby200-x64/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/selenium-webdriver-2.42.0/lib/selenium/webdriver.rb:67:in `for' from selenium.rb:3:in `<main>'

  • Using the standard OBJECT tag, how can I display a java applet with automatic prompts to install Java and with fallback content?

    - by CB
This is the code i'm currently using: (note - %s is replaced on the server side) <!--[if !IE]>--> <object type="application/x-java-applet" width="300" height="300" > <!--<![endif]--> <!--[if IE]> <object classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93" codebase="http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u22-windows-i586.cab" type="application/x-java-applet" width="300" height="300" > <!--><!-- <![endif]--> <param name="codebase" value="/media/vnc/" > <param name="archive" value="TightVncViewer.jar" /> <param name="code" value="com.tightvnc.vncviewer.VncViewer" /> <param name="port" value="%s" /> <param name="Open New Window" value="yes" /> </object> When Java is installed, this works perfectly in both IE and Firefox. When Java is not installed, IE and Firefox both correctly prompt for an autodownload of Java 1.6 from the codebase line. (IE via the activex url given firefox via the Plugin Finder Service) Now, suppose I want fallback content to be shown if the plugin isn't installed, say a simple message like "Get Java". From reading the specs, i'd assume this should not change the plugin finding prompt - that is, rendering the fallback should be seen as a failure to render the object tag. Thus, I should still get the plugin finder service prompting me to install Java. Instead, simply adding a single character to the innerHTML of the object element causes Firefox to no longer prompt. Test this by visiting data:text/html,<object type='application/x-java-applet'>Java failed to load</object>. How can I keep firefox prompting to install Java while providing fallback content? URL to test Firefox's Java Plugin Finder Service: data:text/html,<object type='application/x-java-applet'/>

  • JavaScript in different browsers

    - by PointsToShare
Adventures with JavaScript rendered in IE 8, Chrome 15, and Firefox 8.0 I have written a little monogram about the advantages of Math and wrote a few JavaScript applications to demonstrate them. I was a bit careless and used elements on the page in my JavaScript without using any of the GetElementsByXXXX methods to identify them.  Say I had a text box named tbSeqNum into which I entered a number to be used in a computation. In my code I simply referred to its value by using it directly. Like here: Function Blah() {                 return tbSeqNum.value; } This ran fine in IE8. In IE, the elements are available as global variables. This is not the case in either Firefox or Chrome. In there one has to create the variable and only then use it. Assuming I also used tbSeqNum as the element’s ID, this works: Function Blah() {                 return GetElementById(“tbSeqNum”).value; } Naturally this corrected function also works in IE, so be warned. Also, coming from windows programming (I am long in the tooth and programmed long before the internet), I have a habit of putting an “Exit” button on my pages and setting their onclick to: onclick=”window.close()”. Again, this works fine in IE. In Firefox and chrome, it does not! There you can only close a window that you opened in the code. A window that was opened by navigation to a URL will not close.  Before I deployed mu code to my website, I painfully removed all my Exit buttons. But my greatest surprise came when I tested my pages in the various browsers. In my code I do a comparison on the performance of two algorithms used to solve the same problem. One is brute force, the other uses a mathematical formula. The compare functions runs each many times and displays the time it took for each and also the ratio. Chrome runs JavaScript between 5 and 10 times faster than Firefox and between 50 and 100 times faster that IE. Wow!!! This difference is especially remarkable when the code uses iteration. I suspect that the JS engines in Chrome and Firefox simply cache the result of a function and if it is called again with the same parameters, it returns the cached result. To see it in action play run the “How Many Squares” page in www.mgsltns.com/games.htm The host is running on Unix, so the link is case sensitive. Last Note: IE9 runs JS a bit faster, but still lags behind almost as badly. That’s All Folks!

  • Taking screenshot with Win32 API (C# pInvoke) not working in IIS

    - by Dillen Meijboom
I want to take a screenshot of an external website. Currently my workflow is to start a Firefox instance with the specified URL and take a screenshot using PrintWindow in the Win32 API When I run this application in IISExpress it works fine but when I run the same application in IIS on a windows VPS it is not working (screenshot is blank). I don't know what I'm doing wrong? My code: using Newtonsoft.Json; using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Drawing; using System.Drawing.Imaging; using System.Linq; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using System.Security; using System.Threading; using System.Web; namespace WebTools.Web { public class RemoteScreenshot { public static Bitmap TakeScreenshot(Process process) { // may need a process Refresh before return TakeScreenshot(process.MainWindowHandle); } public static Bitmap TakeScreenshot(IntPtr handle) { RECT rc = new RECT(); GetWindowRect(handle, ref rc); Bitmap bitmap = new Bitmap(rc.right - rc.left, rc.bottom - rc.top); using (Graphics graphics = Graphics.FromImage(bitmap)) { PrintWindow(handle, graphics.GetHdc(), 0); } return bitmap; } [DllImport("user32.dll")] private static extern bool GetWindowRect(IntPtr hWnd, ref RECT rect); [DllImport("user32.dll")] private static extern bool PrintWindow(IntPtr hWnd, IntPtr hDC, int flags); [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)] private struct RECT { public int left; public int top; public int right; public int bottom; } public static void Save(string url, string file, int timeout = 0) { Process.Start(new ProcessStartInfo("C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mozilla Firefox\\firefox.exe", url) { CreateNoWindow = false, WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Maximized }); Thread.Sleep(timeout); var bitmap = TakeScreenshot(Process.GetProcessesByName("firefox").First()); bitmap.Save(file, ImageFormat.Png); bitmap.Dispose(); Process.GetProcessesByName("firefox").First().Kill(); } } } EDIT: Running Firefox works fine because the AppPool is under another account that has the rights to execute firefox.

  • Got black screen when recording screen from xvfb by ffmpeg x11grab device

    - by shawnzhu
I'm trying to record video from a firefox run by xvfb-run but it always output nothing in the video file except black screen. Here's what I did: start a firefox, open google.com: $ xvfb-run firefox https://google.com Then it will use the default display server number 99. I can see the display information by command xdpyinfo -display :99. A screenshot works very well by command: $ xwd -root -silent -display :99.0 | xwdtopnm |pnmtojpeg > screen.jpg Start using ffmpeg to record a video: $ ffmpeg -f x11grab -i :99.0 out.mpg When I play the video file out.mpg, there's black screen all the time. Is there any parameter I missed? Updates I made progress that the video works instead of black screen only by this command: $ ffmpeg -y -r 30 -g 300 -f x11grab -s 1024x768 -i :99 -vcodec qtrle out.mov Notice it requires the screen resolution matches by specify more options to xvfb-run: $ xvfb-run -s "-screen 0 1224x768x16" -a firefox http://google.com But I still want to get more feedbacks and answers here.

  • Apache returns truncated image

    - by ChronoFish
I am bringing up an image directly through firefox (no PHP or other scripting code) and it appears that Apache is returning either a truncated image or a corrupted image. I get the top 5-10% of the image. It appears that I get complete width and height info. If I hit "refresh" (in firefox) I get about 5 more lines of the image. And if I hit refresh again I get another 5 lines. In IE I get the same initial 5-10% of the top of the file. But refresh does not give me any more. Bringing the image up across the network through a mapped-drive reveals the entire image. (so the image(s) itself seems to be okay). (If I point firefox to the image via mapped-drive rather than through Apache firefox brings the image up just fine. So it does seem to be Apache at issue) Any ideas?

  • Execute background program in bash without job control

    - by Wu Yongzheng
I often execute GUI programs, such as firefox and evince from shell. If I type "firefox &", firefox is considered as a bash job, so "fg" will bring it to foreground and "hang" the shell. This becomes annoying when I have some background jobs such as vim already running. What I want is to launch firefox and dis-associate it with bash. Consider the following ideal case with my imaginary runbg: $ vim foo.tex ctrl+z and vim is job 1 $ pdflatex foo $ runbg evince foo.pdf evince runs in background and I get me bash prompt back $ fg vim goes foreground Is there any way to do this using existing program? If no, I will write my own runbg.

  • Google Chrome never renders fonts properly / no smoothing etc

    - by Christian Ivicevic
A while ago I started using Chrome and no longer Firefox, however I found out something weird which maybe force me to return to Firefox if I can not fix this. I am coding a homepage and the output was in Chrome ugly, in Firefox not. I thought "ok this is maybe due to bad code"... however I found out that the same problems occurs on different sites like Facebook too. The font is not smoothed and it is not nice to read. Here is an example, although I have censored nearly everything... Bad Chrome Rendering Good Firefox Rendering You may need to open up in a new tab to see the errors in detail. Now I want to know, whether this is just Chrome trolling me or maybe something else. EDIT I tried it out under Ubuntu on my PC and it works well... seems to be an error on Windows/Chrome on Windows.
