  • HP Smart Array p400i with Intel X25-M 160 SSD

    I have a pair of x25-M 160 Intel SSD's in an HP DL360 G5 with a p400i Smart Array running 512 BBWC. The disk performance I am getting on this box and another identical one does not come close to matching the same two drives running through a cheap 3ware RAID card. Any idea? I have played with the cache settings, but nothing allows me to get the same results. It seems like the Smart Array controller is the bottleneck.

  • System Centre Essentials 2007 Clients Losing Status

    Clients that have been reporting their state fine suddenly start reporting "Windows 0.0" for their OS and "Not yet contacted" for their Last Contacted date even though previously these values were present and correct. Any idea why this might be happening? I've spend a long time playing with wsauclt etc and just when I think I've the problem it comes back again! Thanks.

  • long access times and errors in iis application

    Hi, I am having an issue with an IIS application (details of environment at the end of the message). The web site works great most of the time and I cannot reproduce any error in our test system. On the live system however with on averare of 5-15 requests per second I have a problem with that some requests (about 0.05%) will take over 300 seconds to complete. The other requests complete withing 5-10 seconds. It seem like if all the errornous requests end up with a Timer_EntityBody error in the error log. I have never seen this as an end user but I guess that they will receive some kind of error message. I am trying to find out what can be causing this errornous behaviour. Any ideas are welcome. I have read something about that there can be an MTU issue if ICMP and MTU protocols are blocked in the firewall. Does that sound reasonable? I have also read about updating to IIS 7 should do the trick. Does it sound reasonable? I think that the problem has another cause but I have no idea of what. I have tried running hte perormance monitor, monitoring for database locks and active transaction counts. I can see some of these in the perfmon log for the MSSQL server (another machine) for example: Active transactions is sometimes peaking and sometimes for long periods Lock waits per seconds is sometimes peaking Transactions per second is sometimes peaking Page IO Latch wait is sometimes peaking Lock wait time (ms) is sometimes peaking But I cannot see that any of these correlate to the errors in the IIS error log. On the IIS server machine I can also see with perfmon that some values peak a few times during a day: Request execution time Avg disk queue length I can neither see that any of these correlate to the errors in the IIS error log.   • Dedicated hard disk for Informix SE dbname.dbs files & dedicated ramdisk for /tmp files.

    INFORMIX-SE 7.2: I would like to dedicate a hard disk, exclusively for my dbname.dbs directory which holds all the .dat and .idx files, and create a ramdisk for my /tmp temporary files in order to improve performance. I would also like to strip down the OS from any unecessary files and processes to minimize overhead for my dedicated application. Is this a good idea and are there any roadmaps for accomplishing this?

    Hi I've got a problem with VS command prompt - it keeps using the wrong settings for fonts in the window. When I launch the command prompt via start - run it works fine, when I launch my app directly, it works fine. But when I push the F5 button and compile my little app, the console that automatically starts uses 4x4 raster fonts. No matter what the default settings are. Anyone got any idea?

    I need to configure a IMAP4 capable (console-based) email client to - check and edit the name of an attachment ("contains umlauts?" - change character ä to ae) - delete emails that don't fit certain requirements (not PDF, DOC,... not from domain xyz.com) Whether the client can do everything by itself or can just trigger a script on incoming mail doesn't matter. Anyone have an idea with mail client would be suitable for such a task?

  • Video player with note-taking features?

I can use notepad, but I have to use mouse or alt-tab extensively in order to switch from notepad to the player to pause the movie.   • Apache+PHP problem: Cannot list processes other than apache's

    I have a quite fresh install of the Apache (2.2.3/Centos) + PHP(5.1.6) and following problem: I need to monitor life of one process and in order to do that I run: $last_line = exec('ps -C snmpd'); and check its output. Unfortunately I always get nothing. I've checked it with other process names and it seems it can 'see' only Apache's processes. Any idea how to work this out?

    I have this command to create a service: sc create svnserve binpath="\"C:\Program Files (x86)\Subversion\bin\svnserve.exe\" --service --root C:\SVNRoot" displayname="Subversion" depend=tcpip start=auto obj="NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" Unfortunately, it seems not to work, even though the syntax is correct. When I run it, I get the usage instructions (which I guess is a way of telling me that I've supplied incorrect arguments, although I have no idea what incorrect argument I might have supplied). Can anyone help me out of my difficulty? Thanks!

    My OS is Windows 7. I try to download Adobe® Acrobat 9 Pro for English and Windows (326.6MB) by its Akamai Download Manager and then click on "Install Now". But I meet some error: "Action center.lnk" is a file which was downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it? I click yes, but then: Launching File Failed: se_err_accessdenied Anyone has some idea why and how to fix it? Thanks and regards!

  • Running programs by typing some alias in Windows

    Is there an easy way in windows to set a given string, like "sidb" to run a program or open a given folder in Windows? My original idea was to be able to run commands like that in the "Execute" start button menu (or Win + R),so I'd just have to do WIN+R and type "sidb". What is the best way to accomplish this? EDIT: May I rephrase this as : Is there a way to define for example, in systems variables, sibd="C:.......blabla\ and then I'd just have to type "sibd" in Run?

It is not an option to use the built-in NTP service because that makes some apps on this server fail - note, that this server is used in an industrial environment with no PCs on the network and no Windows update or similar applied.
