JQuery username validation - Ajax call

Hi, I am currently using JQuery's validation plugin for basic form validation such as required fields. I want to add functionality so that when the user types in the username field, an ajax call is triggered to check whether the username is already taken. My requirements are: Preferably integrate with JQuery Validation plugin, rather than writing a custom function I want the lookup to occur on the nkeyup event I want the lookup to be triggered approx 0.5 seconds after the keyup event has occurred. .net databound lists

Hi, Is there any way around this? I have a few dropdown lists bound to lookup tables in sql server. some old records imported from a previos version of the system wont open due to data in these fields not matching the current dropdown data. Other than adding the old data to the lookup table (which I dont want to do) is there a way around this? Thanks DD

Perl, time efficient hash

Is it possible to use a Perl hash in a manner that has O(log(n)) lookup and insertion? By default, I assume the lookup is O(n) since it's represented by an unsorted list. I know I could create a data structure to satisfy this (ie, a tree, etc) however, it would be nicer if it was built in and could be used as a normal hash (ie, with %)

The only problem is my menu isn't overlaying my map, it pushes the content up. I tried with the menu manager like in your first response, resizing the content manager but it is the same result. Max gave me the link http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1497073/blackberry-fields-layout-animation to do so, but I really don't know how to use it to make it work in my project... Thank you for your help! UPDATE This works great, it's what I wanted. However, I still have a problem because I'm under 4.5. So first in the MenuHostManager constructor, I deleted the USE_ALL_HEIGHT and change setPositionChild(mMenuManager, 0, Display.getHeight() - mMenuManager.getPreferredHeight()); like this to have the menu at the bottom of the screen. It worked. Then, instead of drawing my bitmaps, I did this: Bitmap nBitmap = EncodedImage.getEncodedImageResource("menu" + i + ".png").getBitmap(); BitmapButtonField button = new BitmapButtonField(nBitmap, nBitmap); And it worked too (no rollover for now, later). So it is great! I also overwrite the Paint method of my CyclicHFManager to have a background color, because I can't use the BorderFactory and BackgroundFactory... My menu bar has a color for now so it's ok. Then, because of these 2 classes missing, in my BitmapButtonField I had to delete the 2 setBorder functions that change the borders. And now i have my buttons pretty big like normal buttons with borders... How can I make the same effect as the setBorder functions under 4.5? (BTW, setBorder is not working under 4.5 too...). bind9 DNS Ubuntu names pingible on server, but not on Windows Machines?

I setup a DNS server today on Ubuntu, following this tutorial. My intent was to setup my network for dns-name resolving on the private LAN within a single zone (nothing fancy I just want name resolution). I've tested the setup on the DNS server machine itself, and I can ping all the machines listed in the configuration file. I've also configured the Windows Machines on my network, and for some reason they are incapable of pinging by names as was possible on the DNS Server itself. I've tried running nslookup on the Windows DNS clients and I receive and error mentioning the address of the DNS server. DNS forwarding works fine, I'm not having any trouble accessing the internet, the problem only lies within accessing names within the private LAN. How can I find the Windows domain logon name of a user from within Outlook 2010?

I need to figure out someone's login name for our domain, and I'd like to be able to do this from within Outlook 2010. I used to be able to do this from Outlook 2007 by right-clicking the user's name in an email message that they'd sent me, and clicking "Outlook Properties..." in the context menu. That would bring up this dialog, which contained what I need in the "alias" field: Now I've installed Outlook 2010. I want to do the same thing, but I can't seem to find a corresponding field. First, I don't see an explicit "Outlook Properties" menu option anymore, and what I think is the corresponding dialog looks completely different: It seems weird that, although I'm looking at the properties of my own name in the same email message in 2007 and 2010 in these screenshots, my name is shown differently in each -- Chris versus Christopher. That makes me think that Outlook isn't really looking in the same place to get this info in each case. So, can I get that "alias" field from within Outlook 2010?

MS Access: Why can I no longer right-click to add a hyperlink?

I've been working in an MS Access system for a while now. It's a form system where users enter data, add links, contacts etc. Pretty simple. On the form is a hyperlink field. For months I could right-click the field, and from the popup context menu select Hyperlink Add a hyperlink (something like that). This would allow me to browse to a network location, select a folder, click okay, and have the path automatically added to the field. Then it stopped working. It works fine for everyrone else but not me. What's stranger, if I go to another machine and login, I get the functionality back. Any ideas?

Labels mail merge repeats on subsequent pages?

I'm trying to do a mail merge to print to labels. The first field in the document does not contain a { NEXT } field code, and because of this the records repeat between label pages for example: Notice how the records shift to the left as the next page is displayed? But how they start over again in an off by one manner? Now I've tried to fix this by using the first record displayed on a page to see if the page number is 1. If it not on page 1 of the mail merge then it should just move to the next record; otherwise it should just display the first record: This doesn't work however, because when I do the preview and display the {page} field code, it reports that I am always on page 1 and thus the same behavior continues instead of just moving to the next record on the next page.

I changed the part between "<" and "@" in the field Message-ID and substituted a hash value so the Message-ID looks like: 077I Message-ID: <[email protected] Now exim says "format error" in the log and the mail is not released. There was no change except for this one field. Why can't the ID be substituted like that? Does it need to be the exact same length? It's exim4 version 4.69-2ubuntu0.3.

Input multiple file names in windows open file dialog box

Windows 7 allows you to select multiple files to open at once by using ctrl or shift key. The "File Name" input field at the bottom of the dialog box would auto populate with the following sample: "aaa.txt" "bbb.txt" "ccc.txt" "ddd.txt" I have 14,000 files in a folder and I only need a range of files (approx 500). When I use the shift key to select a range of files, the "File Name" field auto populates all 500 file names. Windows would cut me off at the 260th character when I try to paste in a pre-generated string into the "File Name" field. Is there a way to bypass the 260 character limit so it would accept my entire string with 500 file names?

How do I call up values in PHP for user input in forms (radio buttons and selects)

Ok so my admin sets to edit a book which was created. I know how to bring in the values that were initially entered via a simple text field like 'bookname'. On the edit book page the book name field stores the currently assigned 'bookname' in the field (which is what I want! :) ) However I have other field types like selects and radio button entries...I'm having trouble calling in the already set value when the book was created. For example, there is a 'booklevel' field, which I have set as radio button entries as; Hard, Normal, and Easy. When the user goes to edit the book, I'm not too sure on how to have the current value drawn up (its stored as text) and the radio button being checked. I.e. 'Normal' is checked if this is what was set when the book was created. MIME "Content-Type" folding and parameter question regarding RFCs?

Hello, I'm trying to implement a basic MIME parser for the multipart/related in C++/Qt. So far I've been writing some basic parser code for headers, and I'm reading the RFCs to get an idea how to do everything as close to the specification as possible. Unfortunately there is a part in the RFC that confuses me a bit: From RFC882 Section 3.1.1: Each header field can be viewed as a single, logical line of ASCII characters, comprising a field-name and a field-body. For convenience, the field-body portion of this conceptual entity can be split into a multiple-line representation; this is called "folding". The general rule is that wherever there may be linear-white-space (NOT simply LWSP-chars), a CRLF immediately followed by AT LEAST one LWSP-char may instead be inserted. Thus, the single line Alright, so I simply parse a header field and if a CRLF follows with linear whitespace, I simply concat those in a useful manner to result in a single header line. Let's proceed... From RFC2045 Section 5.1: In the Augmented BNF notation of RFC 822, a Content-Type header field value is defined as follows: content := "Content-Type" ":" type "/" subtype *(";" parameter) ; Matching of media type and subtype ; is ALWAYS case-insensitive. I have a fairly small corpus of structured records sitting in a database. Given a tiny fraction of the information contained in a single record, submitted via a web form (so structured in the same way as the table schema), (let us call it the test record) I need to quickly draw up a list of the records that are the most likely matches for the test record, as well as provide a confidence estimate of how closely the search terms match a record. The primary purpose of this search is to discover whether someone is attempting to input a record that is duplicate to one in the corpus. There is a reasonable chance that the test record will be a dupe, and a reasonable chance the test record will not be a dupe. The records are about 12000 bytes wide and the total count of records is about 150,000. There are 110 columns in the table schema and 95% of searches will be on the top 5% most commonly searched columns. The data is stuff like names, addresses, telephone numbers, and other industry specific numbers. In both the corpus and the test record it is entered by hand and is semistructured within an individual field. You might at first blush say "weight the columns by hand and match word tokens within them", but it's not so easy. I thought so too: if I get a telephone number I thought that would indicate a perfect match. The problem is that there isn't a single field in the form whose token frequency does not vary by orders of magnitude. A telephone number might appear 100 times in the corpus or 1 time in the corpus. The same goes for any other field. This makes weighting at the field level impractical. I need a more fine-grained approach to get decent matching. My initial plan was to create a hash of hashes, top level being the fieldname. Then I would select all of the information from the corpus for a given field, attempt to clean up the data contained in it, and tokenize the sanitized data, hashing the tokens at the second level, with the tokens as keys and frequency as value. I would use the frequency count as a weight: the higher the frequency of a token in the reference corpus, the less weight I attach to that token if it is found in the test record. My first question is for the statisticians in the room: how would I use the frequency as a weight? Is there a precise mathematical relationship between n, the number of records, f(t), the frequency with which a token t appeared in the corpus, the probability o that a record is an original and not a duplicate, and the probability p that the test record is really a record x given the test and x contain the same t in the same field? How about the relationship for multiple token matches across multiple fields? Since I sincerely doubt that there is, is there anything that gets me close but is better than a completely arbitrary hack full of magic factors? Barring that, has anyone got a way to do this? I'm especially keen on other suggestions that do not involve maintaining another table in the database, such as a token frequency lookup table :).
