• When send a meeting invite to a specific user, you get a undeliverable response back from another us

  We have a user, where it doesn't matter who sends it, but if you send her a meeting invite through outlook (exchange 2007), you get a non-deliverable message back from another user. Same one all the time though. I checked her shared calendar properties and removed the user from the list. I checked and made sure she wasn't using cache mode. I checked the manage full permissions and send permissions within exchange and the user is not listed. What am I missing? Notes: Using Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2007 on a XP box and Server 2008.

• Issue with emails with attached emails.

  There is this problem with our email in my organisation that happens to some people. When a remote sender sends an email that has an attached email, the reciever gets the email but the attached email is blank. The recieving mail server is MDaemon Pro. I also notice that the email header could be corrupted. I checked the MDaemon KB and find nothing regarding this issue. but I also highly doubt that this is an MS Outlook 2007 issue. Anyone have any ideas? Putting this issue aside, I feel that we really should not attach emails to emails. There is a reason for the "Forward" button. I can't understand why is it so difficult for them to just forward that email instead of drag and drop one into the other using outlook. Furthermore, if the attached email also has its own attachments, the resulting nesting will be quite unbearable. Don't you think so?

  A client recently switched to Exchange Server / Outlook for their email. Since then emails from my company to any email address at their company bounce back from the System Administrator with this error: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Email Solution Sent: 12/12/2012 11:08 AM The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: '[email protected]' on 12/12/2012 11:08 AM 550 5.1.1 <[email protected]> recipient rejected Looking in the Message Options of the bounce back email shows no data in the Internet Header field. My client's IT guy says we're not being blocked, but I cant think of any other reason the bounce would occur. Any suggestions on what questions to ask or how to fix this would be helpful. I'm using a desktop version of Outlook 2007 and connecting through my ISP. Thanks.

• Exchange 2010 user not receiving mail from another user

  I have an Outlook 2010 user who can't receive email from another Outlook 2010 user. They are both in the same mailbox server in the same network. They can both send and receive email to anyone else in the organization. One just can't receive from the other. It's very strange. Exchange server was recently migrated from 2007 to 2010 but one of the users described is a new hire which was created on the 2010 server. I have other new hires created on the 2010 server that work fine. I tried having the user send from OWA and it still doesn't get through. What else can I do to troubleshoot this issue? Thank you.

• Outgoing email getting stuck in outbox and sent out multiple times.

  I have someone with 3 accounts on Outlook - one of them is giving trouble, in that when sending mail from it, it gets stuck in the outbox, saying it hasn't sent yet. When it finally does send off, he gets reports that about 10 copies have been received. The webmail associated with that account works fine, which means the hosting company (Godaddy) hasn't been helpful in solving this problem. It seems to be an Outlook issue. The other two email accounts (one of which is also a Godaddy email), work normally.

• User account automatically filling up with dead.letter file

  I have one user account on a server with about 400 accounts that is filling up automatically. The dead.letter file in the users home directory automatically grows until the account is full (about 10 - 40 Mb per day). The user is using Microsoft Outlook to send and receive mail. What can be causing this and how can I avoid it from happening? Right now I have an emergency cron-job to delete the file but I would like "real" solution. Edit: The server version is Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4) Edit 2: It seems mainly spam and I see different mailer headings (from php to Outlook Express) and a frequent appearing header is [email protected] Update: I have asked the hosting provider where I use that dedicated server to look into the problem as well, as it's their Control Panel that could be a cause of the problem.

• gmail download by POP3 won't download all emails. How to reset all emails to not downloaded so that ALL will download?

  I want to download emails from gmail using POP3 with Outlook Express. It downloads about 350 or so emails but doesn't download the remainder - there are over 2000 emails. The emails downloaded are not recent. I've tried disabling and re-enabling POP options in the settings in gmail itself but this doesn't fix the issue. Any ideas? Failing that I would use IMAP. I would try to then copy it locally on my machine to the standard POP Inbox folder in Outlook Express so that Express Archiver (a separate program) can then archive each email as a file with meaningful file names (e.g. subject, sender). I want to download email because I archive back it up with project work material it relates to, so it is all in one place.

• Exchange 2010 Autodiscover/OAB update issue

  Mid way through migration from 2003 to 2010 and with a few test users on 2010 i've noticed that the OAB is not being downloaded to outlook clients. I've checked the URL's are configured, addded both our CAS servers to the web based distribution list for the OAB and assigned the OAB to 2 mailbox databases we use but when i use outlook 'Test E-Mail AutoConfiguration' test i still see that the autodiscover says "OAB URL: Public Folder" even though i've now deselected the option. I've ran Test-OutlookWebServices to which i was getting an OAB error about no URL in the autodiscovery but having just re-ran it now appears fine, yey the autoconfigure test still does not. Does anyone have any idea why i'm getting this discrepency?

I've created a new LGNTOPL.GIF file to replace the existing one in the folder: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\Owa\14.3.158.1\themes\resources” When I bring up OWA, I still get the original “Outlook Web App” logo. I’ve searched and found a couple of other instances of LGNTOPL.GIF in the directories: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\Owa\14.3.123.3\themes\resources” “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\Owa\14.3.146.0\themes\resources” “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\Owa\Current\themes\resources” I’ve replaced the LGNTOPL.GIF file in each of the above directories but got the same results. I’ve tried clearing my browser cache and even using multiple browsers from multiple PC’s but the same results. I’ve even tried making my GIF file the same pixel size as the original LGNTOPL.GIF logo but still the same results. I’ve tried restarting IIS on the CAS server and restarting the server but same results. Has something changed with Exchange 2010 UR3 when trying to customize OWA? I don't see anything documented about any change to OWA customization. Thanks

• Recover data from OST file

  I need to recover some mails from a backed up OST file. Unfortunately, I deleted the corresponding IMAP mail account from Outlook. When I recreate the mail account and replace the created OST file with my backup I get the following error message: The file {path}.ost cannot be accessed because it has been configured for use with a different mailbox. How to solve this problem? Please don't suggest a OST to PST tool unless you know it works. I tried numerous of those tools from dubious looking websites and none worked. Please note: I am using Outlook 2013 Preview.

• Writing to network share failed

  I have outlook files stored on a network share and accessed by clients directly. Outlook is version 2003, clients windows XP and server is 2003. The files are quite big at around 3GB. One of the common problem that happens is that I get 'delayed write failed' and this happens only on these PST files. When this happens I have to run scanpst.exe to fix the PST file. I did not find any entries in even logs that I could relate to the issue. What would you suggest to change to fix the issue or where to look to further diagnose it? EDIT: No loss on ping and ping times within normal for LAN.

• Exchange server listening on port 25 but clients dont recieve emails

  My exchange server is listening on port 25, that is I can telnet into it and send an email but Outlook 2010/2007, OWA, and ActiveSync are not pulling down emails. Outlook 2010 specifically says Connected To Exchange Server and Updating Inbox but it never updates the inbox. Also, OWA shows some of the newer mail messages, but when I double click on one to open it up in OWA, it times out. Any idea what could be causing this? Also Exchange Transport and Information Store are started. Thanks!

  At $work, the official email solution is Outlook on Windows, connected to an Exchange server. That's problematic for people with Linux on their desktop machine. The Exchange server supports IMAP, and e-mail works fairly well using the usual suspects, e.g. Thunderbird. It also provides the web mail interface, which is fairly crap unless you use IE. (Any other favorite e-mail clients?) The biggest problem is the Outlook Calendar. I still have found no viable Linux client that can replace it. Any recommendations?

  I regularly use an ellipsis as a bullet point in a list of items in Word/Outlook 2010. Example: I like summer because... ... it's warm out. ... we go on vacation. ... my birthday is in July. Currently in Word/Outlook if you type certain characters like a hyphen and hit space, it will automatically start a bulleted list using the hyphen. I would really like the same functionality with the ellipsis. When I type the third period and hit space, start a bulleted list. Does anyone know of a way to do this? Registry hack? Hidden Word Setting?

• Automatically save attachments from mail on a network drive

  Every morning I receive an automatically generated e-mail from a server, it includes a spreadsheet attachment. I made a rule in outlook that captures these emails. Now, I would like to make a macro to rename the attached file (. Xls) to =today() and saves it in a folder on a network drive. This macro must run every weekday at 8:00. I've made a lot of VBA in Excel, but have no experience in outlook. Might this be possible? And does anyone know how to do it? Kind regards Staal

• Change Exchange Server Name Before Upgrade

  I need to upgrade the Exchange Server from 2003 to 2010. I'm physically changing servers as well as software. I'm worried about redirecting the Outlook clients after the upgrade is going to be troublesome. So, I thought that before doing anything else, that I would change the name of the Exchange server on the client from 'server-name.domain.com' to 'mail.domain.com' and add an entry in dns that points 'mail.domain.com' to the same ip as 'server-name.domain.com'. However, even though I added 'mail.domain.com' to the dns, I cannot get the Exchange server to change to that on the client computers. I found out that the Outlook clients check the Global Catalog for the name of the Exchange server computer. My question is: can I change the Global Catalog address of the Exchange computer from 'server-name.domain.com' to 'mail.domain.com'? If so/not, is there a better way to do this? thanks.

  I read my IMAP-mail on different computers/mail clients. I wanted to unsubscribe from the majority of my folders in Outlook. Later, I noticed that on another computer, where I use Thunderbird, I was also unsubscribed from those folders as well. This is not what I wanted (at all), so I subscribed again under Thunderbird. The effect was that I also got subscribed again under Outlook. So I guess this means (un)subscribing to IMAP folders is an account-coupled thing, not a per-client thing. Is there a way to achieve (un)subscribing per client?

  Real quick question, A few months back I have set up email accounts exchange using AD on a domain all is fine. (email, address books ,calendars etc.) But I left the old .pst files on a networked drive. For some reason outlook the clients are still accessessing the old .pst not for (email, address books ,calendars). I have removed an account with no adverse effect as a test. But can any one tell me why outlook is still accessing the old .pst, as I was going to delete all the old .pst files until they all had todays timestamp on.

I changed their e-mail address and their account name, but when they send e-mail their old name still appears, no matter whether they send it using Outlook or the gmail web client. For example, e-mail from them in the Gmail web client reads Oldname [email protected] instead of Newname [email protected]. I'm trying to make the user's new name show up when they send an e-mail. Where is the sender's name stored? Is it a part of the e-mail specification, stored in some header somewhere, or is it stored in the e-mail client? If it's possible, how do you change the sender's name in Gmail?

  This is what I think about Microsoft Windows Phone. If Microsoft were in our shoes looking at various phones available their configurations, memory, front facing cameras etc. Microsoft disappointed the USA customer base again by not getting Nokia Lumia 800. The Past: If we talk few years ago, few business people were on their Blackberry’s and few Gadget lovers were on crappy Windows OS devices. The world was all going right till Apple came with a revolutionary device iPhone, which completely changed our perception towards phone and how great a smartphone can be. It’s not just phone but the whole technology industry. The romantic appealing of the phone and smooth touch and feel of it made everyone to get one of those bad boys. The sales went up for not just Apple for AT&T too. Even though everyone complained about the signal strength of AT&T, everyone wanted to be on it because they have iPhones. All world wanted iPhone back then except Microsoft with few comments on how it is not going to be in market. But it did great and rocked the industry. A few years later with iPhone and Android taking over the smartphone market Microsoft realized that it should be in the game too. Worked on the design of it, and gave us the best Mobile OS ever. Everyone thinks that iOS is a great OS for phones but if you have touched a Windows Phone and use it for real then you will realize the strengths of it. so last year we welcomed Windows Phone 7 The Present : Windows Phone 7 has the fastest growing market. The phones are cheap, you can buy from any carrier out there. The phone became smarter and smarter with the recent update “Mango (7.5)” and with the collaboration with Nokia, Microsoft created a new eco-system for smartphones with the best smartphone hardware and best smartphone software. Everyone in the world was excited about the collaboration. As we fly over cloud 9 imagining about Nokia made Windows Phones we all heard a good news from Nokia “Nokia World”. Nokia showed the world what a best hardware making company can do with Windows Phone 7.5 OS. Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 took the spotlight. Everyone here in USA and all over the world wanted to own a Nokia Lumia 800 because of the design, software, proprietary apps from Nokia (maps, ESPN, drive and music). If USA market had Nokia Lumia 800, then it would have been the best step Microsoft and Nokia had ever made in their history of smartphone market. With all the numbers going to Android and IPhone, its not clear on why Microsoft/Nokia did not release Lumia 800 here in USA. Its unclear if Microsoft had learnt the lesson or not. if it had learnt the lesson I guess Microsoft needs to get the Nokia Lumia 800 to the USA. The Future: This is where we hope we get the best form Microsoft. I was an iPhone user, I used 2G, 3G, 3GS, 4 and then moved to Windows Phone and never felt so happy with my iPhones’. From the day when Nokia announced the partnership with Microsoft and said that they going to come up with a new Nokia windows phone, I was dreaming for my Nokia Phone. but looks like it is not going to happen any time soon. My thoughts about the Market :  Nokia has the biggest market base in the world. Even though people moved to Android or iPhone over the years in other parts of the world like India and China, people still love to use Nokia. Everyone who uses a Windows Phone now will wait for that day when Nokia Lumia comes to the USA but what either or both of the companies should do for a better market share is to make a very aggressive move with the hardware and bet on the devices. I am pretty sure that it will work. everyone here in the USA will like to have a dual core windows phone with front facing camera and all other crazy things that android/apple phones offer.   I've installed MS Office 2010 Beta (OneClick technology). All apps launch from 1 program, Word for example has this link: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft Word 2010 (Beta) 2014006204190000" Or OneNote: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\Virtualization Handler\CVH.EXE" "Microsoft OneNote 2010 (Beta) 2014006204190000" Because of that I can't associate files with Office programs in file properties, they actually associate with “Microsoft Office Client Virtualization Handler” (CVH.EXE). Anyone know another way to do that?
