• How to Convert Videos to 3GP for Mobile Phones

• Constant NSDictionary/NSArray for class methods.

  I am trying to code a global lookup table of sorts. I have game data that is stored in character/string format in a plist, but which needs to be in integer/id format when it is loaded. For instance, in the level data file, a "p" means player. In the game code a player is represented as the integer 1. This let's me do some bitwise operations, etc. I am simplifying greatly here, but trying to get the point across. Also, there is a conversion to coordinates for the sprite on a sprite sheet. Right now this string-integer, integer-string, integer-coordinate, etc. conversion is taking place in several places in code using a case statement. This stinks, of course, and I would rather do it with a dictionary lookup. I created a class called levelInfo, and want to define the dictionary for this conversion, and then class methods to call when I need to do a conversion, or otherwise deal with level data. What I'm trying to do is to save the raw content into the database, and only make the conversion when the content attribute is later accessed. Would you please tell me what's wrong with this? Thanks to Pierre and Daniel. I have figured out what's wrong. I thought the text-conversion code should be in either to_python or get_db_prep_value, and that's wrong. • What's with the accesses to $random_existing_file/cache/df.php?

  Occasionally I eyeball Apache's access_log and lately I've been noticing these accesses to URLs that I don't serve. They're correctly 404'ed, but I'd like to know just who and what is involved here. "Obviously" it's some sort of vulnerability probing; I'd like to know which. (Not that it affects me, but I like to know the score.) Here's an example: 69.89.31.206 - - [28/Nov/2012:17:36:34 +0200] "GET /cvfull.pdf/cache/df.php HTTP/1.1" 404 489 "-" "-" Oddly, all 26 attempts are to either /cache/df.php, or to /cvfull.pdf/cache/df.php - they come in pairs. A few weeks ago it was zx.php, now it's df.php - I'm assuming the target is the same. Perhaps I should be flattered that a script is thinking of hiring me. Seriously, my CV is one of only two PDF files on my site, so I can only guess that non-PDF URLs aren't interesting? I've tried Googling for "cache df php", but my Google-fu is weak at the best of times, so I can only find a few reports of other script attacks. What's the vulnerability being scanned for here?

  I'm trying to parse apache log files, but I'm finding some strange results and I'm not sure what they mean. Hopefully someone can provide some insight. (all of the IP addresses were altered. none actually start with 192, I didn't figure the search engines mattered though.) Does it have to do with proxy servers? Is there a way to have Apache only log one? In the second example, a bunch of information is just completely missing!   From what documentation I could find, the UPS should be (is!) supported by Linux and ought to work with apcupsd. I looked for specific problems such as the infamous Microlink protocol, and found none. I have found a feedback from a guy in UK that reports using this very model on a not-too-different OS version (his OpenSuSE 12.1, mine 12.3 x86_64). If I disconnect the USB cable, I get an apcupsd message to the effect that communications have been lost; and I get the "communication restored" broadcast too, if I reconnect the cable. apcupsd is monitoring. So everything tells me that it should work -- only it doesn't. Does anyone spot what I'm missing?

  Hello, I have a big problem at my work. We had to make a page who displays a exercise for the users. But that page need also to be available as pdf. To do this we used DOMPDF. This worked perfectly on your development server but when we moved it to the production server dompdf generates pdf with errors. When i open the pdf i get the error from Adobe Reader: 110. The first server (development) was Debian. The production server runs CentOS 5. DOMPDF used PDFLib or CPDF, but both generate the same error. Does anybody know what kind of differents on the server i need to be aware of ?

  I want to update Preview.app in the background from the command line without losing focus of my current window. I know that I can use the following to open/update the view of a file, but then I lose focus to the Preview.app. open -a Preview foo.pdf I guess there might be some clever AppleScript commands to do so but so far I didn't find the right one. Alternatively I would be interested into transfering the focus back to my current application directly after the update. I need this in order to update Preview.app's view of a PDF file through a vi autocmd after I update the PDF file according to changes in a TeX file I am editing. Here is an example of what I want to achieve but using Ubuntu and evince.

• Kindle 2 and PDFs in landscape

  Hi guys, I am looking at getting a Kindle 2, read a lot about the PDF support (or lack off) and wanted to ask someone who has a kindle, a question. If you read a pdf in landscape mode, does it shrink the text to have it all in the one screen, or does it increase font size and split it into two or more pages. I have another reader, the iRiver Story and it does that, splits it into multiple pages thus making it readable. I know you can't zoom or anything like that in portrait view (i assume) I know you will say stick with iRiver, but the make of the kindle is a lot better (metallic back) and its useful to have a hybrid amazon book/pdf reader in one.
