• Depmod - unresolved symbols in rt73 module

  I'm trying to install a linux driver for my wireless network card (D-Link DWL-G510) on my Red Hat Linux 7.1 machine with a 2.4.37.9 kernel. I downloaded the serial monkey driver from the sourceforge site and was able to successfully compile the module. However, whenever I do a "make install", the make script executes a "depmod -a" command which then complains with the message: "Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.37.9/extra/rt73.o". I then executed a "depmod -e" command to show unresolved symbols and it indicates the following information: request_firmware_Rsmp_38ce5074 release_firmware_Rsmp_33934162 I did a grep on the above information and it showed no source files making reference to it. I searched for it on google and it returned no results. Can anyone help?

• Proper way to reload a python module from the console

  I'm debugging from the python console and would like to reload a module every time I make a change so I don't have to exit the console and re-enter it. I'm doing: >>> from project.model.user import * >>> reload(user) but I receive: >>>NameError: name 'user' is not defined What is the proper way to reload the entire user class? Is there a better way to do this, perhaps auto-updating while debugging? Thanks.

• FTP/SFTP module for .NET

  I am designing an auto downloader using .NET and C#. I was wondering if there is a decent/robust FTP/SFTP module out there that I can use, preferably free of charge. EDIT: I probably should've noted that I am looking for answer from somebody who tried several and found one that works very well. I currently use .NET wrapper for libcurl for FTP and it does not behave right. For example when I connect to FTP site with Filezilla and provide a path, it finds directory just fine. With libcurl, i get a header for 404 page saying path cannot be found. I am guessing that Filezilla gets 'home' directory correctly, and libcurl puts me to the root (i tried no path, and i had no permissions to access that directory). But anyways, I just don't know enough about FTP itself, so I would like something that just works. Thanks!

• Can I use a local::lib if local::lib isn't installed globally and without eval-ing it in shell?

  I have a problem, I want to use local::lib; in a script. But because I need to use this script many places, I don't want to try adding the eval to bashrc, every time I install this script to a server. and I can't get local::lib installed globally (in the default @INC) on the servers. Is there any way I can use local::lib from within the script so that it knows where the module local::lib is without the eval that local::lib recommends and without installing it into a directory in the default @INC on the server?

• Updating a module level shared dictionary

  Hi, A module level dictionary 'd' and is accessed by different threads/requests in a django web application. I need to update 'd' every minute with a new data and the process takes about 5 seconds. What could be best solution where I want the users to get either the old value or the new value of d and nothing in between. I can think of a solution where a temp dictionary is constructed with a new data and assigned to 'd' but not sure how this works! Appreciate your ideas. Thanks

  In visual basic, when in the "frmMain Events: Load", I get the following error The type initializer for 'projData.projDataModule' threw an exception. when running the code: var = 180 "var" is defined in projDataModule as Module projDataModule Public var As Double End Module When I rebuild the solution, It says "0 errors, 0 warnings" and will actually compile, however the Error list shows the following error: Error 1 Custom tool error: Failed to generate file: There is an error in XML document (1, 1). I:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Desktop\Projects\Data\My Project\Application.myapp 1 1 Data Any ideas or help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• No such file to load, Model/Lib naming conflict?

  I'm working on a Rails application. I have a Module called Animals. Inside this Module is a Class with the same name as one of my Models (Dog). show_animal action: def show_animal require 'Animals/Bear.rb' #Works require 'Animals/Dog.rb' #Fails end So the first require definitely works, the seconds fails. MissingSourceFile (no such file to load -- Animals/Dog.rb): I noticed that Dog.rb is the same file name as one of my models, is that what's causing this? I'm using Webrick.

  hi! i using hwdvideoshare module in joomla and i can't use the Method 1 for Direct Video Conversions. it requires the following things to be done: * The exec() function need to be enabled in PHP. * safe_mode must be set to Off. You can check that at Joomla Help -> System Info -> PHP Information) * php-cli (Command Line Interface to PHP) must be installed in the server and its path set in Server Settings * safe_mode must be set to Off for php-cli. You can check that executing php -i | grep safe_mode from the command line i've checked the first two settings. i don't know whether php-cli is enabled or not..i'm using php5..how do i enable it, without messing with other php packages?

• Rsync module path needs to be a home directory

  I'm trying to use rsync to backup windows servers to an rsync server. I'm having problems with rsync on the linux side though, it doesn't like symlinks. Currently I'm trying to use the module path of ~/backup, but rsync says that the chroot failed. I looked up what to do and saw that I needed to add the option use chroot = no and munge symlinks = no. That fixed the @ERROR: chroot failed but now it's telling me @ERROR: chdir failed and the log files say that there is no ~/backup directory. I know the user I'm authenticating with has a backup folder in his directory. How can I fix this? For reference I'm using a .NET port of rsync called NetSync and tunneling it over a port forwarded SSH connection generated with granados.

But I want you to concentrate on this change block. http://github.com/rails/rails/commit/d916c62cfc7c59ab6411407a05b946d3dd7535e9#L2L1304 Even without understanding the full context of the code I am not able to think of a scenario where I would use include Modue.new { class_eval <<-RUBY def foo puts 'foo' end RUBY } Then end result is that in the root context (self just before include Moduel.new) a method call foo has been added. If I take out the Module.new code and if I only leave class_eval in that case also I will have a method called foo in self. What am I missing.

• VMware Player 4.04 on Ubuntu 12.04 will not compile

  I installed VMware-Player-4.0.4-744019.i386.bundle onto Ubuntu 11.10. This worked fine. I then upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 The upgrade appeared to be successful. • Centos: installing SVN tells I don't have perl 1.17. I have installed 5.8

  I'm trying to install SVN on a CentOS virtual machine. I used the command that the CentOS wiki tells: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Subversion yum install mod_dav_svn subversion It gives me a few errors: --> Finished Dependency Resolution mod_dav_svn-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 from base has depsolving problems --> Missing Dependency: httpd-mmn = 20051115 is needed by package mod_dav_svn-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 (base) subversion-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 from base has depsolving problems --> Missing Dependency: perl(URI) >= 1.17 is needed by package subversion-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 (base) Error: Missing Dependency: perl(URI) >= 1.17 is needed by package subversion-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 (base) Error: Missing Dependency: httpd-mmn = 20051115 is needed by package mod_dav_svn-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 (base) The thing is that I have Perl 5.8 installed: root@server [~]# rpm -q perl perl-5.8.8-32.el5_5.2 I also don't know why it tells httpd-mmn isn't installed. • How do I install git/git-svn on RHEL5 with a custom perl install?

  I've had nothing but trouble trying to install Git on RHEL5. First I tried from source, but ran into several issues with installing the docs. There appeared to be missing libs and such for parsing xml that I couldn't figure out how to get installed and recognized. Then I tried using the EPEL yum repository and was able to install git and its docs but now git-svn is not working. It complains about not finding the perl modules Git.pm and SVN/Core.pm. When I set the GITPERLLIB environment variable to the location of those libs it seg faults. Some background: RHEL5 came with perl 5.8.8, but we wanted to use 5.10 so I installed that from source (to a custom location). Someone then symlinked the system perl binary to this newer version of Perl to make sure nobody uses the wrong version. Each developer also has their own build of Perl. So I'm wondering what's the best way to install Git on this system and have both the docs and git-svn working correctly for each user. Unfortunately I'm a developer and not as good with system administration so take it easy on me.

  I'm trying to stream a file from a remote website to a local command and am running into some problems when trying to detect errors. What I expect is the loaded page in one stream and STDERR from wget in another. I can see I've simplified the code to the point where it's not clear why I want to use open3, but the general plan is that I wanted to stream stdout to another filtering program as I received it, and then at the end I was going to read the stderr from both wget and the filtering program to determine what, if anything went wrong. Other important things: I was trying to avoid writing the wget'd data to a file, then filtering that file to another file, then reading the output. It's key that I be able to see what went wrong, not just reading $? 8 (i.e. I have to tell the user, hey, that IP address is wrong, or isn't the right kind of website, or whatever). Finally, I'm choosing system/open3/exec over other perl-isms (i.e. backticks) because some of the input is provided by untrustworthy users.

• How do I delete a [sub]hash based off of the keys/values of another hash?

  Lets assume I have two hashes. One of them contains a set of data that only needs to keep things that show up in the other hash. e.g. my %hash1 = ( test1 => { inner1 => { more => "alpha", evenmore => "beta" } }, test2 => { inner2 => { more => "charlie", somethingelse => "delta" } }, test3 => { inner9999 => { ohlookmore => "golf", somethingelse => "foxtrot" } } ); my %hash2 = ( major=> { test2 => "inner2", test3 => "inner3" } ); What I would like to do, is to delete the whole subhash in hash1 if it does not exist as a key/value in hash2{major}, preferably without modules. The information contained in "innerX" does not matter, it merely must be left alone (unless the subhash is to be deleted then it can go away). In the example above after this operation is preformed hash1 would look like: my %hash1 = ( test2 => { inner2 => { more => "charlie", somethingelse => "delta" } }, ); It deletes hash1{test1} and hash1{test3} because they don't match anything in hash2. Here's what I've currently tried, but it doesn't work. Nor is it probably the safest thing to do since I'm looping over the hash while trying to delete from it. However I'm deleting at the each which should be okay? • How to get the top keys from a hash by value

  I have a hash that I sorted by values greatest to least. How would I go about getting the top 5? There was a post on here that talked about getting only one value. What is the easiest way to get a key with the highest value from a hash in Perl? • Why is this statement treated as a string instead of its result?

  I am trying to perform some composition-based filtering on a large collection of strings (protein sequences). I wrote a group of three subroutines in order to take care of it, but I'm running into trouble in two ways - one minor, one major. The minor trouble is that when I use List::MoreUtils 'pairwise' I get warnings about using $a and $b only once and them being uninitialized. But I believe I'm calling this method properly (based on CPAN's entry for it and some examples from the web). The major trouble is an error "Can't use string ("17/32") as HASH ref while "strict refs" in use..." It seems like this can only happen if the foreach loop in &comp is giving the hash values as a string instead of evaluating the division operation. I'm sure I've made a rookie mistake, but can't find the answer on the web.   Hi I try to realize simple code on perl which should just get/send messages from/to gtalk accounts. I use Net::XMPP::* modules. All works just fine for users, who are my friends (in my "buddy" list). But i can't send message to unknown user. I know, that for this case i must send an invitation first, but Net::XMPP::* don't provide this possibility. There is only one way to invite person - construct my own xml according to "XEP-0155 Stanza Session Negotiation" protocol. But this doesn't work correct. When i send xml to server, it returns error "service-unavailable". • IO::Pipe - close(<handle>) does not set $?

  My understanding is that closing the handle for an IO::Pipe object should be done with the method ($fh->close) and not the built-in (close($fh)). The other day I goofed and used the built-in out of habit on a IO::Pipe object that was opened to a command that I expected to fail. I was surprised when $? was zero, and my error checking wasn't triggered. I realized my mistake. If I use the built-in, IO:Pipe can't perform the waitpid() and can't set $?. But what I was surprised by was that perl seemed to still close the pipe without setting $? via the core.
