• Cisco 2950 Express Setup

  I've been donated a Cisco Catalyst 2950 Switch by the company I work for to have a play with. I've reset it back to Factory Defaults, but having an issue with getting to Express Setup. I've followed the Express Setup (And Factory Reset) guide as listed here: Catalyst 2950 Switch Getting Started Guide Everything goes fine, until I get to step 10, I enter 10.0.0.1 into the browser, but I just get a Error 324 response. ServerFault wouldn't let me post a picture, so here is a link to the browser screenshot: Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this may be? Thanks in advance!

• 64 bit Windows 7 + 32 bit windows XP dual boot?

  I have purchased an i7 based PC pre-installed with 64 bit windows 7 (home premium). Unfortunately some third party 32 bit software that I need to use is not working properly (see stackoverflow.com for details). I am now torn between the plan of installing windows XP 32 bit or making it dual boot. Which option do you think will give me the least problems? And if the answer is dual boot, then can you point me to a good guide for how to do it, preferably a guide specifically for my two OS's created in this order (i.e. 7x64 first). EDIT: the performance of my 32bit programs is critical so am concerned about any kind of 32bit XP "emulation".

  Given the schema: What I need is having every user_identities.belongs_to reference an users.id. At the same time, every users has a primary_identity as shown in the picture. However when I try to add this reference with ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION, MySQL says #1452 - Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (yap.#sql-a3b_1bf, CONSTRAINT #sql-a3b_1bf_ibfk_1 FOREIGN KEY (belongs_to) REFERENCES users (id) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION) I suspect this is due to the circular dependency, but how could I solve it (and maintain referential integrity)?

  I am migrating a web app in mvc1 to mvc2. When it came down to migrating my MembershipProvider authentication I keep getting errors that MembershipProvider and MembershipCreateStatus type cannot be found. I do have the reference to System.Web which to my understanding includes the Security reference, but when I examine the the object, those types do not appear. I am just getting familiar with mvc2, if anyone has any input on this it would be extremely appreciated.

  How can you tell whether or not a given parameter is an rvalue in C++03? I'm writing some very generic code and am in need of taking a reference if possible, or constructing a new object otherwise. Can I overload to take by-value as well as by-reference and have the rvalue returns call the by-value function? Or do I have a very sickening feeling that this is why rvalue references are in C++0x?

• Git push on localhost with htaccess

  I am looking into setting up a remote git repo. To start with I have created it on my Windows machine using xampp following this guide. All works fine except when I try to add some security, as per step 6 of the guide (for when I migrate it to my main web server). I have added passwords by using passwd and adding htaccess to the htdocs folder.   Lets say I have a function where the parameter is passed by value instead of const-reference. Further, lets assume that only the value is used inside the function i.e. the function doesn't try to modify it. In that case will the compiler will be able to figure out that it can pass the value by const-reference (for performance reasons) and generate the code accordingly?   I often use Excel with pivot tables based on .cub files for OLAP-type analysis. This is great except when you want to move the xls and you realise internally it's got a non-relative reference to the location of the .cub file. How can we cope with this - ie make it convenient to move around xls files that depend on .cub files? The best answer I could come up with is writing a macro that updates the pivot tables' reference to the .cub file location....so I'll pop that in an answer.

• How do you host images using Windows Server so that they are accessible over the internet? [closed]

  I was trying to figure out a way to host images (picture images, not disk images) such that they are accessible over the internet via URLs--in a way similar to a web service like Photobucket or ImageShack. I have a whole bunch of Windows Servers (Windows Server 2008 R2) available in the cloud. Instead of hosting images using Photobucket or ImageShack, I wanted to host this images directly on my own Windows cloud. This could be really complicated or really simple. I have no idea, as I know very little about IIS 6 (which is what I am using) or web servers. If this is too broad of a question (as there are probably multiple ways of implementing this), is there at least some guide or documentation of how someone else has setup image hosting? Perhaps a step-by-step guide of at least one way to do it?
