• Error while deploying a web application in OSGI container using pax web

  Hello I am trying to deploy a web application in a Felix container. I have all the required configuration done with my web app like the setting up of the manifest headers: Webapp-Context: Bundle-ClassPath: Bundle-Activator: Import-Package: Bundle-SymbolicName: etc The Pax bundles that I have dropped in the same container are: pax-web-service-0.6.0.jar pax-web-jsp-0.7.1.jar pax-web-extender-war-0.7.1.jar pax-logging-service-1.5.0.jar pax-logging-api-1.5.0.jar Though it had been written in the pax web site that pax-web-service is included in pax-war-extender, it seems without pax-web-service bundle, all other bundles become handicapped. I had removed the other pax bundles like pax-web-extender-whiteboard-0.7.1.jar pax-web-jetty-0.7.1.jar, as I have not seen any usefulness of those. The pax-web-jetty-0.7.1.jar even does not get start up. it has dependencies which it could not be able to resolve from any one of the bundle provided by PAX. My browser is displaying: HTTP ERROR 403 Problem accessing /adminmodule/. • Application Event Log keeps getting corrupted

  I recently asked about repairing a corrupt event log, because it seemed to be a one-off event. The event log has since exhibited the same behavior 3 times. We have been trying to find patterns, but so far we have found nothing. The server runs several ASP.NET applications and three scheduled tasks written in .NET. The last modified date of the event log once happened to be the same time as one of the scheduled tasks, but the others have not been. Any suggestions of where to look next or a way we can get any information out of a corrupt evtx file? The server is running critical e-commerce applications, so we want to keep the number of restarts required to a minimum. • BASH function not escaping control characters

  Hey guys I have a function that I'm using to find stuff, but unfortunately anytime I pass it a control character ($intVal or testing : etc) it chokes. I was wondering what the fix was? I can understand that using $ or % or : etc in grep without escaping causes this issue, but since I'm passing it in by reference I'm not sure how to escape it...   Here's what the log file c:/Windows/debug/mrt.log of my Windows 7 install says: WARNING: Security policy doesn't allow for all actions MSRT may require. ->Scan ERROR: resource process://pid:6080 (code 0x00000005 (5)) ->Scan ERROR: resource process://pid:5300 (code 0x00000057 (87)) ->Scan ERROR: resource process://pid:3512 (code 0x00000057 (87)) I use the default setup. I didn't change anything. This is the first time I checked the log file and this warning is in there from the start. Can I do something about it? Or I shouldn't be concerned, because it can do everything what's necessary anyway? Do you have this warning in your logfile?

• Way to update / refresh / reschedule project plan after adding a vacation / changing calendar

  I had created a project plan using MS-Project 2010 (not server). I had set the task schedule mode to "Auto Scheduled" and entered the necessary tasks. Since it is a single person project I also added one person to the Resource of the file and assigned that resource to all the tasks and leveled the project. After the plan was put in and tasks were leveled I figured the calendar was not correctly set (in UAE the weekend is Friday and Saturday instead of Saturday and Sunday). So, I updated the default calendar (Standard) of the project by going to Project-Change Working Time-Work Weeks and changed them as needed. But after doing this, the tasks are still scheduled over Friday and Saturday even though I have marked them as nonworking days in the standard calendar. I tried the following for the tasks to refresh, but I was not successful: Updated all tasks to use the "Standard" calendar in the project Selected option so that tasks do not ignore resource calendars Added a constraint "As Soon As Possible" Executed "Level All" Any help on solving this issue would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

  Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) are blocked (or polluted) by all ISPs available to me (and DNS by ISPs just return wrong answers for some sensitive sites!!), and it is said that if we change DNS from UDP onto TCP, the problem can be temporarily solved. • Where can I find a list of the highest resolution monitors for sale?

  I am always on the lookout for the latest and greatest monitors, but for some reason, I have never found a good resource for this information. And while we know months in advance what new processor will be released, it doesn't seem like we ever know what new monitors will be released until they are. I am tempted to buy a Dell 3008WFP, but since the 30" 2560x1600 monitors have been out for 6 years, I would expect something better is about to be released. Where can I find out what is available in the high resolution / widescreen market and what is soon to be released? • SpeedTracer NETWORK_RESOURCE_RESPONSE vs NETWORK_RESOURCE_FINISH

  I'm using SpeedTracer with GoogleChrome to measure the load times of requested resources. The SpeedTracer site says: NETWORK_RESOURCE_RESPONSE "Indicates that the renderer has started receiving bits from the resource loader" NETWORK_RESOURCE_FINISH "Indictes a resource load is successful and complete." In my mind that means we would always see a network resource response (bytes are arriving) before we see a finish (all bytes received). This doesn't seem to be the case at all. Here is a sample: Request Timing @33519ms for 926ms Response Timing @34445ms for -847ms Total Timing @33519ms for 78ms I'm guessing response time isn't supposed to be negative. Can someone explain this or is this a bug? I'm using Chrome 10.0.612.3 dev with a SpeedTracer I downloaded today.

SQL 2005 sp2 cu9 x64 Enterprise edition After restarting the resource groups on two node active-active cluster, 3 SQL 2005 instances start up fine. The 4th one starts up but starts throwing the following error. "Enlist operation failed: 0x8004d00e(XACT E NOTRANSACTION). SQL Server could not register with Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) as a resource manager for this transaction. The transaction may have been stopped by the client or the resource manager." MSDTC is fine since the other 3 function normally. The only way to "fix" it is to take the 4th instance offline and bring it online again. Is there any way to fix this enlistment without restarting?

  I'm having a really tough time getting the LDAP extensions to work in PHP on a WAMP server. Here is what I've done: Went to C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\modules and made sure that mod_ldap.so exists. I've gone into C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf\httpd.conf and made sure that this line is not commented out: LoadModule ldap_module modules/mod_ldap.so I've gone into C:\Program Files\PHP\php.ini and made sure this line is not commented out: extension=php_ldap.dll I've made sure C:\Program Files\PHP is in the Path I've made sure C:\Program Files\PHP contains libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll Restart apache phpinfo() still doesn't show mod_ldap as being turned on. It shows util_ldap under Loaded Modules, but that's the only reference anywhere to LDAP. For a bit more background, I originally posted this on SO.

• Shared resources in Windows Server 2008 were lost

  We have an Oracle database in Windows Server 2003, which has its archived redo logs stored on a shared resource of a Windows Server 2008: \\192.168.1.189\d$\folder_for_archivedlogs However, according to Oracle's alert.log, at 10:01 p.m that shared resource got lost and the database was inaccessible. From my Windows Server 2003, on Windows Explorer, I couldn't access that shared resource, but I got a response when I did ping 192.168.1.189. I reviewed all the Event Logs on that Windows 2008, but there is no error at 10:00pm or 11:00pm. Has anyone seen some similar case before? (Shared resources get lost, but you still can ping the server and there are no error events in the Event Logs).

• php crashes when I try to add extensions

  Hi all, I am trying to install phpmyadmin on my web server with Windows 2008 and iis 7. PHP is running fine and I have several sites that rely on it. When installing phpmyadmin - it has errors at the bottom that crypt and mbstring are not properly installed. When I try to add the php_mcrypt.dll and/or the php_mbstring.dll to the php.ini file (I verified the location and the right file through phpinfo) it crashes. I get a 500 error on all the websites, and I get an error on the server saying FastCGI has failed. Does anyone know how to fix this or why it is happening? Shouldn't I be able to add extenstions? I have the dll files in the extension folder, which is referenced in the php.ini and other extensions (installed previously) are working as expected. Other info: php version 5.2.8, pdo driver for mysql version 5.0.51a Thanks in advance!

• How to set specific environment variables for Apache service run on Windows

  I'm facing a problem. I use xampp 1.7.7 on Windows which installs a Apache service. I find that I have to some tweak to have all PHP modules load properly. For example, php_ldap.dll cannot be loaded. It is mysterious why it cannot be loaded until I tried to run httpd.exe from command line, which reveals that libsasl.dll cannot be founded. Actually, there exist D:\xampp\php\libsasl.dll but httpd.exe cannot find it. OK. The best way is to add D:\xampp\php to PATH env-var. Now my question is: How do I set a specific PATH value for that specific Apache service but not system wide. -- because I think it is better not to disturb other processes with that extra PATH value. Is there a general way to do that for a specific Windows service? or, is there a Apache specific way to load extra env-var settings from some specific configuration files?

  I am trying to run an application on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine from a Windows Server 2003 R2 machine using a batch file with the following line of code in a batch file: psexec \\nightmachine -u DOMAIN\User -p Password -i "C:\FilePath\Application.exe" argument1 argument2 The application fails to run correctly when started using psexec, but the application will run correctly if I have logged into the nightmachine with the same user and started it from its file path via cmd. I have been able to get hold of the error returned in the application from its log and the exception returned is the following: System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'rasapi32.dll': A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007045A) After searching for that error code on the net, there are a lot of posts saying that this is caused by file corruption, but I cant see why that would be the case as the application will run normally when not being run from psexec. (the user is an administrator on both machines) Can anyone please help me on this? If any more information is needed to help solve this issue then please ask and I will do my best to post it.

• Create room mailbox in Exchange 2007 - cannot view calendar

  I'm an application developer and I'm trying to play around with Exchange in order to integrate a room booking system with it. I've created a room mailbox and have set it so that it auto-accepts appointment requests. When creating an appointment as a standard user I can add the room as a resource and its availability will display. However, I can add it as a shared calendar to Outlook 2003 (Unable to display the folder. The Calendar folder could not be found) nor can I return the calendar folder using Exchange Web Services (again, could not find the folder). I've also created an appointment via Exchange Web Services with a room as a resource. The resource was successfully booked (as confirmed when opening it as the room's delegate) but it does not appear on the meeting as viewed by any of the attendees. Is there anything further I need to do in order to share this calendar? How do most organisations set up their Exchange with regards to rooms?

• What are people using as Login scripts in large enterprises

  Hi, We have recently been tasked with looking after the user login side of things in our enterprise (windows clients in active directory). We have a system at the moment that uses a vbscript login/loggof script to call a couple of DLL written in vb 6. The DLL's actions are controled by some config files based on users/groups witch is administrated from a central app. This is quite a good system, but kind of want to come away from vb6 for the dll's (maybe port them to c++ but them you have to make them com+ to call them from vbscripts etc) and possibly away from vbscript for the actual login scripts themselves. Just wondered what other people are using, what people can suggest etc Thanks Luke

• Forcing exact hostname match in IIS

  I am looking how to force an exact hostname match within IIS when using https. For instance, I want "https://works.mysite.com/resource" to be ok, but "https://noworks.mysite.com/resource" to return 404 (assuming they both resolve to the same IP). IIUC, the default behavior of IIS when going to "https://noworks.mysite.com/resource" is to get a cert warning, if the user presses continue, the user is able to access the URL. I was able to do this by generating a *.mysite.com SSL cert, and then specify the hostname within the bindings in IIS, but without the * in the beginning, the hostname field is disabled and blank. Am I missing something simple here?

• Make wix installation set upgrade to same folder

  How can I make a major upgrade to an installation set (MSI) built with Wix install into the same folder as the original installation? The installation is correctly detected as an upgrade, but the directory selection screen is still shown and with the default value (not necessarily the current installation folder). Do I have to do manual work like saving the installation folder in a registry key upon first installing and then read this key upon upgrade? If so, is there any example? Or is there some easier way to achieve this in MSI / Wix? • Mapping a Vertex Buffer in DirectX11

  I have a VertexBuffer that I am remapping on a per frame base for a bunch of quads that are constantly updated, sharing the same material\index buffer but have different width/heights. However, currently right now there is a really bad flicker on this geometry. Although it is flickering, the flicker looks correct. I know it is the vertex buffer mapping because if I recreate the entire VB then it will render fine. However, as an optimization I figured I would just remap it. Does anyone know what the problem is? The length (width, size) of the vertex buffer is always the same. One might think it is double buffering, however, it would not be double buffering because it only happens when I map/unmap the buffer, so that leads me to believe that I am setting some parameters wrong on the creation or mapping. • Why is IaaS important in Azure&hellip;

  Three weeks ago, Microsoft released the next phase of Azure.  I have had several clients waiting on this release.  The fact that they have been waiting and are now more receptive to looking at the cloud.  Customers expressed fear of the unknown.  And a fear of lack of control, even when that lack of control also means a huge degree of flexibility to innovate with concerns about the underlying infrastructure.  I think IaaS will be that “gateway drug” to get customers who have been hesitant to take another look at the cloud.  The dialog can change from the cloud being this big scary unknown to a resource for workloads.  The conversations should have always been, and can know be even stronger, geared toward the following points: 1) The cloud is not unicorns and glitter, the cloud is resources.  Compute, storage, db’s, services bus, cache…..  Like many of the resources we have on-premise.  Not magic, just another resource with advantages and obstacles like any other resource. 2) The cloud should be part of the conversation for any new project.  All of the same criteria should be applied, on-premise or off.  Cost, security, reliability, scalability, speed to deploy, cost of licenses, need to customize image, complex workloads.  We have been having these discussions for years when we talk about on-premise projects.  We make decisions on OS’s, Databases, ESB’s, configuration and products based on a myriad of factors.  We use the same factors but now we have a additional set of resources to consider in our process. 3) The cloud is a great solution looking for some interesting problems.  It is our job to recognize the right problems that fit into the cloud, weigh the factors and decide what to do. IaaS makes this discussion easier, offers more choices, and often choices that many enterprises will find more better than PaaS.  Looking forward to helping clients realize the power of the cloud.
