  • Run a JasperServer reprt via PHP and pass over the querystring.

    I'm using Web Services to run some reports created in iReport on JasperServer. Inside the .jrxml file I can see the xml that holds the SQL for the report. Is it possible to pass this querystring over to JasperServer via Web Services, instead of hard coding the definition inside the .jrxml file. This is the string I would build in PHP, then pass over to JasperServer to be used in the execution of the report. <queryString> <![CDATA[SELECT * FROM table WHERE j=2]]> </queryString> Basically, I'm trying to find a way to dynamically create the SQL in PHP, then pass the SQL over to Jasper to run the report...is it even possible?     I am trying to run Protovis javascript from a Java program: ScriptEngineManager factory = new ScriptEngineManager(); ScriptEngine engine = factory.getEngineByName("JavaScript"); engine.eval(new java.io.FileReader("protovis-d3.1.js")); In order to run this, the JavaScript engine needs to have all the context of a web browser. The best option for this seems to be envjs. Unfortunately it seems that the version of Rhino included in the JVM isn't up to date and doesn't include everything that's necessary for envjs. Has anyone had any success working with a browser context from javax.script.

    Let's say that an ISP offers a plan with 5 static IP addresses, but I have more than 5 devices, many of which (such as a networked printer, for instance) I do not want or need to have a static IP address. So the topography I'm planning goes something like: ISP -> Router -> Switch -> Computer (static address) -> Computer (static address) -> Printer (DHCP/NAT) -> Tv (DHCP/NAT) -> (...) -> Wireless Devices (DHCP/NAT) Generally speaking, is it possible to run a network like that? If not, then what sort of setup do I need so that I can assign static addresses just to the things that need them, and use DHCP/NAT for everything else? Also, what internal networking devices will consume a static IP address? I'm pretty sure the router will, correct? Does the switch also?

    I want to create a separate thread that runs its own window. Frankly, the documentation does not make sense to me. So I create an NSThread with a main function. I start the thread, create an NSAutoreleasePool, and run the run loop: // Global: BOOL shouldKeepRunning = YES; - (void)threadMain { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [NSAutoreleasePool new]; // Load a nib file, set up its controllers etc. while (shouldKeepRunning) { NSAutoreleasePool *loopPool = [NSAutoreleasePool new]; [[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] runUntilDate:[NSDate distantFuture]]; [loopPool drain]; } [pool drain]; } But since there is no registered port or observer, runUntilDate: exits immediately and CPU utilization goes to 100%. All thread communication is handled by calls to performSelector:onThread:withObject:waitUntilDone:. Clearly, I am not using the API correctly. So, what am I doing wrong?

One of them uses https over port 443 with the following bindings: http x.x.x.39:80 site.com http x.x.x.39:80 www.site.com https x.x.x.39:443 VisualSvn Server Properties server name: svn.SomeSite.com server port: 443 Server Binding: x.x.x.40 No sites on IIS are listening to x.x.x.40. When starting up VisualSvn server, the following errors are thrown: make_sock: could not bind to address x.x.x.40:443 (OS 10013) An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. no listening sockets available, shutting down When I stop Site.com on IIS, then VisualSvn Server starts up without a problem. When I bind VisualSvn server to port 8443 and start Site.com, then VisualSvn Server starts without a problem. My goal is to be able to access the VisualSvn Server with a normal url, i.e., one that does't use a port number in the address: https://svn.site.com vs https://svn.site.com:8443 What needs to be configured to allow VisualSvn Server to run on port 443 with IIS running on the same server?

  • Why is this file hidden when you run ls?

    For a few weeks now I couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to delete this one particular file. As root I can, but my shell script runs as a different user. So I go run ls -la and it's not there. However, if I call it as a parameter, it shows up! Sure enough, the owner is root, hence I'm not able to delete. Notice, 6535 is missing ...     I have three Windows XP guests running on a recently upgraded 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04 system. Occasionally (on the order of once every few days), one of the guests will become non-responsive and the kvm process on the host which is running that guest will start consuming 100% CPU. It will continue to do so until it is killed. When restarted, it will be fine for a while, and then the issue repeats.     I have followed the instructions Apple publishes for unit testing applications on iPhone and things work great when I set the active SDK to "iPhone Simulator". I have it configured to always build and run my tests as part of building the application itself. Apple implies (by omission) that this should work all of the time, but the tests are skipped when I set the active SDK to "iPhone Device". I am also linking with OCMock, and instead of a failing test, this warning is in the build log: ld: warning: in .../build/Debug-iphoneos/OCMock.framework/OCMock, missing required architecture arm in file It's very nice to make the unit test bundle a dependency of the main application, so these tests run at every build, but its utility is greatly diminished if it doesn't work during device builds. Is this a known, but undocumented, limitation?

    Why would you need to run regasm and caspol on a .NET component more than once? I have a COM client that uses a .NET component residing on another machine. Consequently I need to run regasm and caspol on this .NET component. What could cause there to be the need to do this again on the same machine to the same component? Is the effect of regasm and caspol only temporary? Or can I assume that someone has reset or cleared something on a machine if I am having to do this again?

I read and used the library pyhook, because I think that I need hooks, specially the WH_GETMESSAGE but pyhook doesn't use it and doesn't give the path only things like the Message, the time, the name of the window, etc. Note: I´m using Windows XP 32bits and python 2.6 Thanks in advance!

  • Android: Is it better to start and stop a service each time it is needed or to let a service run and

    I'm developing an app that checks several conditions during an incoming phone call. The main parts of the app are a BroadcastReceiver listening for Intents related to the phone's status and a local Service checking the conditions. At the moment the service is started each time an incoming call is detected and is stopped when the phone status changed back to idle. Now I'm wondering if this procedure is correct and whether it is reasonable to start and stop the service related to the phone's status. Or would it be better to let the service run regardless of the phone's status and bind/unbind to/from it when needed. Are there any performance issues I would have to think about? Perhaps it is more expensive to start/stop a service than letting it run and communicate with it. Are there any best practices out there regarding the implementation of services?

But when I close terminal window (log off), of course, CentOS Linux kills my program. I see two guesses: run from a different user in background or make a daemon. I need help in each situation.   • run windows command from bash with output to standard out?

    Folks, I'm using git tools such as git bisect run which need to call a command to build and test my project. My command to do is nant which is a windows program. Or a build.cmd script which calls nant. It's easy to get the bash to call the nant build to run. But the hard part is how to get the standard output written to a file? I even installed the Windows PowerShell to try running a command from bash. Again, it works but the standard output fill says "permission denied" when I try to read it while the build is going on.

  • How to run the CPU at something like 75%?

    My notebook is too old for me to invest into a new fan (it will simply be replaced by a new one when the final heat death occurs), but when it runs on full speed I feel like sitting in front of a vacuum cleaner with integrated cooking... I'm currently using NHC, the Max Battery mode of which let's the CPU run at 50% (~800 MHz). That's fine for most applications, and both temperature and noise remain low. However, on some occasions I need a bit more speed, more around 75% maybe. Can I set the power saving settings somehow so that the CPU won't surpass 75% of it's capability so that an acceptable compromise between power and noise is achieved? I can't set the CPU frequency in the BIOS and since on rare occasions I'd like to be able to switch to 100% without much hassling, hardware solutions like setting jumpers are no option. This answer to a similar (linux!) question mentions NHC should be able to offer these options, but for me they are all greyed out: The notebook is an Asus Z9200K, I guess NHC doesn't support its chipset enough for these advanced options.

( 20gb) Some of my customers are running into memory limits where sometimes the OS starts swapping and the total run time doubles or worse. I have read that I can use the mlockall to keep the process from being swapped out. What would happen when the process memory requirements approaches or exceeds the the available physical memory in this way? I guess the answer might be OS specific so please list the OS in your answer.

    Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Database as a Service (DBaaS) empowers Self Service/SSA Users to rapidly spawn databases on demand in cloud. The configuration and structure of provisioned databases depends on respective service template selected by Self Service user while requesting for database. In EM12c, the DBaaS Self Service/SSA Administrator has the option of hosting various service templates in service catalog and based on underlying DBCA templates.Many times provisioned databases require production scale data either for UAT, testing or development purpose and managing DBCA templates with data can be unwieldy. So, we need to populate the database using post deployment script option and without any additional work for the SSA Users. The SSA Administrator can automate this task in few easy steps. For details on how to setup DBaaS Self Service Portal refer to the DBaaS CookbookIn this article, I will list steps required to enable EM 12c DBaaS to provision databases with application data in two distinct ways using: 1) Data pump 2) Transportable tablespaces (TTS). The steps listed below are just examples of how to extend EM 12c DBaaS and you can even have your own method plugged in part of post deployment script option. In “Additional Configuration Options” step of Customize “Create Database Deployment Procedure” flow, provide the name of the SQL script in the Custom Script section and lock the input (shown in Fig. 3). Continue saving the deployment procedure. Figure-3: Using Custom script option for calling Import SQL Now, an SSA user can login to Self Service Portal and use the flow to provision a database that will also  populate the data using the post deployment step. Using Transportable tablespaces to populate databases Copy of all user/application tablespaces will enable this method of populating databases. These are the required steps to extend DBaaS using transportable tablespaces: Production DBA needs to create a backup of tablespaces. Datafiles may need conversion [such as from Big Endian to Little Endian or vice versa] based on the platform of production and destination where DBaaS created the test database. Here is sample backup script shows how to find out if any conversion is required, describes the steps required to convert datafiles and backup tablespace. SSA Administrator should copy the database (tablespaces) backup datafiles and export dumps to the backup location accessible from the hosts participating in the database zone(s). Create a post deployment SQL script and this script can either be uploaded into the software library by SSA Administrator or made available on a shared location accessible from servers where databases are likely to be provisioned. Here is sample post deployment SQL script using transportable tablespaces. Using DBCA, create a template for the production database – all the init.ora parameters should be included. NOTE: DO NOT choose to bring tablespace data into this template as they will be created SSA Administrator should customize “Create Database Deployment Procedure” and provide DBCA template created in the previous step. In the “Additional Configuration Options” step of the flow, provide the name of the SQL script in the Custom Script section and lock the input. Continue saving the deployment procedure. Now, an SSA user can login to Self Service Portal and use the flow to provision a database that will also populate the data using the post deployment step.     I've set up my report with params and it's value. When I run the page, it wants me to click the View Report button, but I need it to just run instead of interacting. Any ideas on this? It is used to run applets and applications written with Java technology on mobile devices. KVM must be installed by the manufacturer. It is NOT available for download or installation by consumers". Now Android has a customized virtual machine called DVM (Dalvik Virtual Machine). Can we compare it with KVM? Wonder if we can further reprogram DVM to incorporate features of KVM to run applets on Android? Same goes for Blacberry, is there a possibility?
