  • why does b'(and sometimes b' ') show up when I split some HTML source[Python]

    I'm fairly new to Python and programming in general. I have done a few tutorials and am about 2/3 through a pretty good book. That being said I've been trying to get more comfortable with Python and proggramming by just trying things in the std lib out. that being said I have recently run into a wierd quirk that I'm sure is the result of my own incorrect or un-"pythonic" use of the urllib module(with Python 3.2.2) import urllib.request HTML_source = urllib.request.urlopen(www.somelink.com).read() print(HTML_source) when this bit is run through the active interpreter it returns the HTML source of somelink, however it prefixes it with b' for example b'<HTML>\r\n<HEAD> (etc). . . . if I split the string into a list by whitespace it prefixes every item with the b' I'm not really trying to accomplish something specific just trying to familiarize myself with the std lib. I would like to know why this b' is getting prefixed also bonus -- Is there a better way to get HTML source WITHOUT using a third party module. I know all that jazz about not reinventing the wheel and what not but I'm trying to learn by "building my own tools" Thanks in Advance!

    Hi, I'm using Win32 and OpenGL to to draw text onto a window. I'm using the bitmap font method, with wglUseFontBitmaps. Here is my main rendering function: glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); glPushMatrix(); glColor3f(1.0f, 0.0f, 1.0f); glBegin(GL_QUADS); glVertex2f(0.0f, 0.0f); glVertex2f(128.0f, 0.0f); glVertex2f(128.0f, 128.0f); glVertex2f(0.0f, 128.0f); glEnd(); glPopMatrix(); glPushMatrix(); glColor3f(1.0f, 1.0f, 1.0f); glRasterPos2i(200, 200); glListBase(fontList); glCallLists(5, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, "Test."); glPopMatrix(); SwapBuffers(hDC); As you can see it's very simple and the only thing that it's supposed to do is draw a quadrilateral and draw the text "Test.". But the problem is that drawing a polygon seems to mess up any text operations I try to do after it. If I place the text drawing functions before the polygon, both the text and the polygon draw fine. Is there something I'm missing here? Any help is appreciated.

    I am using the negative-text-indent technique I learned to show a text-image to the user, while hiding the corresponding actual text. This way the user sees the fancy styled text while search engines can still index it. However I am started to think this sounds like cloaking since I am serving different content to the user vs the spider. However, I am not using this in a deceitful way. Plus it seems like this is a popular technique. So is it SEO-safe or is it cloaking? Thanks!

All elements that are part of the schema must appear, and no other. All of the elements' synthesised attributes go into a struct. (optional) The schema might in the future depend on the type field -- i.e., different fields based on type -- however I am not concerned about this at the moment.

I have to pull the prices from the text file to show in a report how much each procedure costs.     Hi, I have an array gathered by componentsSeparatedByString: that looks like the following when I use po in the GDB after the array has gone through componentsSeparatedByString: "\n\t\t <b>Suburb, </b> BAIRNSDALE", "\n\t\t <b>Address, </b> 15K NW BAIRNSDALE", "\n\t\t <b>Reference, </b> MELWOOD/SCHOOL ROAD", "\n\t\t <b>Last Changed, </b> 09/04/10 05, 29, 00 PM", "\n\t\t <b>Type, </b> HOME", "\n\t\t <b>Status, </b> BUILT", "\n\t\t <b>Property Size, </b> 2.00 HA.", "\n\t\t <b>Residents, </b> 2", "\n\t\t <b>First Added Date/Time, </b> 09/04/10 03, 15, 00 PM", "\n\t\t\t" Only problem is, I now can't figure out where to go from here. I need to be able to access each of these items (i.e. type, status, property size) separately rather than just calling the entire array (i.e. currentProperty.status). How do I do this? Also what's with all the n\t\t\t things - how do I get rid of them? Thanks.

The problem is that I need to implement CSSOMParser for that, and here are the imports import org.w3c.dom.css.CSSRule; import org.w3c.dom.css.CSSRuleList; import org.w3c.dom.css.CSSStyleRule; import org.w3c.dom.css.CSSStyleSheet; import com.steadystate.css.parser.CSSOMParser; the problem is that none of those classes ale probably javascript compilant, so they don't want to compile if they're on the client side. Is there a way to get it done ?

ID (integer with auto-increment) Name (varchar) The text file is a large collection of names with one name per line ... (example) John Doe Alex Smith Bob Denver I know how to import a text file via phpMyAdmin however, as far as I understand, I need to import data that has the same number of fields as the target table. Is there a way to import the data from my text file into one field and have the ID field auto-increment automatically? Thank you in advance for any help.

    The snippet below loops through some web pages, grabs the html and then looks for table.results and gets the plaintext out of the tags contained in each . $results is ok. Now I'm trying to get the href value of an tag that is found in the second of each . I'd like to include this in the $results array, but I'm not sure how to do this. The third foreach statement gets them but then I need to merge $links with $results. Ideally I'd also get the links in the second foreach statement.     I'm trying to make a radio group specifying a bunch of options, and an extra option "other" with a text input to specify. The code for this particular radio button I'm using is <input type='radio' name='RadioInput' value='Other' id='RadioInput_Other' /> <label for='RadioInput_Other'>Ohter: <input type='text' name='RadioInput_Other_Value' id='RadioInput_Other_Value' value='' /> </label> The idea is that if you give focus to the text input, the radio button corresponding to it is selected. The code above almost does this (since the text input is inside the label). However, it also shifts focus to the radio button (which is annoying, since whatever you type next is lost). Is there any way to prevent this using XHTML1.0 / CSS2? Preferably without using javascript.

    I have this code in jquery to prevent non-numeric characters being inputted to the text field $("#NumericField").numeric(); Now, on the text field i cant input non-numeric characters. That is OK. The problem here is if the user will paste on the text field with non numeric characters. Is there a way/method to disable pasting if the value is non-numeric? Or is there any other approach to handle this situation that you can share?

  • Zedgraph textobj X location depends on text length?

    I have a Zedgraph textobj which I want to place always in the same x, y position (ASP.NET image). I noticed that the text doesn't always show in the same starting x position. It shifts depending on the text's length. I tried to have the text to have the same length by padding it with spaces. It helped a little but the result is not always consistent. I am using PaneFraction for coordType. What's the proper method to have a piece of text to always show in the same x position. I am using textobj as a title because the native title property always shows up centered and I need my title be left aligned to the graph.

Now according to my project requirements content in textbox should only be 0-9 and a-f (hexadecimal values) and textbox should take the input based on hexadecimal values. Demonstratation: 12 ab 32 a5 64 Now if my cursor is at the end and i go on pressing backspace, it shud remove the values as it happens in a general text box. Now If my cursor is at the beginning of a5, and i press "delete key", the value should become like: 12 ab 32 56 4 If my cursor is at the end of a5 and i press the 'delete key" nothing should happen.     I'm working on a simple spell checking app for a lecture that I'm giving. I've got the basic spell checking code working just fine using a child form and NHunspell - great lib, by the way. However, I'd like for the parent textbox to show the highlighted text for reference, and while I'm setting the SelectedText properties accordingly, the text is not highlighted in the parent. Canceling the child window and the parent text is highlighted. Anybody know how I can do this?

  • What are useful functions for drawing text (MFC)?

    I'm creating a line chart control, and I need to write (or better say draw) the axis names and axis values. I found DrawText and TextOut functions, but the text they show is flickering and don't know how to set the font and text orientation (I will need vertical text orientation as well as horizontal).
