  • Java vs Flash for webcam access

    I will make a video chat website, but coming from PHP and Python for the web i have no experience with video steaming. What do you recommend? Java or Flash? What's more flexible ? I am thinking of even making a C++ server application for stream controlling with a PHP fronted. Since is going to be a high traffic website and performance is a must. Can you point to some direction? Any documentation? Framework?

  • Flash - playing video

    Hello! I'm developing a Flash-only application and I want to integrate the flowplayer directly into it, but not on the webpage using some swfobject-like approach. So, at some moment (for example, when arbitrary event fires), I would like to add the flowplayer object to the scene so that it starts streaming the specified video. Does someone know if that is possible? Would the following API (http://releases.flowplayer.org/apidoc-latest/index.html) help me somehow? Thank you.

    Hi, I was working on an application that streams live video using Flash client and Wowza media server. As of now, I use an independent desktop based encoder(Flash Media Live Encoder) to publish my live stream. I wanted to know if it is possible to do the encoding part in the browser? My application would be a used by many to publish their streams so I cannot ask everyone to use FMLE to publish. I was wondering how do the other web based video chat applications do the encoding part over the web. Please help. Thanks

    HI, does anybody know if there's any option to show a real progress bar in my web site, when uploading a video to youtube using their API? I believe that in order to do so , I would need to have the option to make ajax calls during the upload to get the state of the upload. am I right? and if I am, do you know if that's possible and how?

  • DRUPAL: JQuery Media module: flash video player doesn't work

    hi, I'm using JQuery Media module to integrate my own flash video player with Drupal website. I've tested everything on a local drupal installation and it works great. However I've updated an online drupal website and the player is not used. I can only see this message: "Use SwfTools Module to play FLV files if you only convert/upload FLV videos or FlowPlayer Module must be enabled in order to play FLV videos with other types." thanks

  • html5media & flowplayer wmode issues...

    I'm working on our new homepage and need to implement a solution that will run a video across iphone/ipad and the standard web browsers. I found a pretty decent solution with html5media - http://code.google.com/p/html5media/ but ran across an issue with a jquery dropdown falling behind the the swf object (this only happens on FF & IE - works fine on Safari & Chrome because it's loading mp4 instead of a swf object). I know the issue is the wmode setting but can not for the life of me figure out where to set it in the html5media (http://html5media.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/html5media.min.js). I'm hoping someone can help me or possibly give me a better solution of implementing the video.     Hi i'm having a little trouble with a has_many through relationship for my app and was hoping to find some help. So i've got Users & Lectures. Lectures are created by one user but then other users can then "join" the Lectures that have been created. Users have their own profile feed of the Lectures they have created & also have a feed of Lectures friends have created. This question however is not about creating a lecture but rather "Joining" a lecture that has been created already. I've created a "lecturerelationships" model & controller to handle this relationship between Lectures & the Users who have Joined (which i call "actives"). Users also then MUST "Exit" the Lecture (either by clicking "Exit" or navigating to one of the header navigation links). I'm grateful if anyone can work through some of this with me...     Hi there! Can you please tell how to be properly displayed interstitial ads in iphone applications. I implemented this is exactly the same way as in Interstitials example (SDK Admob), but this always showing videos with zombies - so it should be, really? If I understand correctly, I should specify my own video url and it will be advertising? Perhaps, in addition, there is a way to not display video, but instead one large banner with advertising on the whole page? Thanks.
