  • Does the Quick Search Box search the database in Android? how?

    i have an database with the values of latitude and longitude. i would need to search those values depends on the user input. does the quick search box can search only the database value with the type-to-search feature. Else i want to put a separate EditText and then do the the search process.. if QSB is possible then how to do that? i want to search and drop a pin on the map.. please make a note of it. Any Idea, tutorial and sample codes are most thankful?

  • how do i keep the aspect ratio on image buttons in android?

    i have 5 square ImageButtons that i want to have lined up side by side on the bottom of the screen. I have each one set (different id's) as: <ImageButton android:id="@+id/box1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:scaleType="fitXY" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_margin="1dp" /> and i have the background assigned in main java like this: int[] imageIds = new int[] {R.id.box1,R.id.box2,R.id.box3,R.id.box4,R.id.box5}; for(int i = 0; i<5; i++){ imageButtons[i] = (ImageButton) findViewById(imageIds[i]); imageButtons[i].setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.blank); } what i would like to have it do is scale the width to fit neatly side-by-side at the bottom of the screen (which it does now ok), but have the height automatically scale to match the width as well. is this possible? i don't want to use setImageSource because then it puts a border around the imagebutton.

    I'm looking for a simple way to forget that I'm using a WebView to have justified text in my TextView. Has someone made a custom view for this? I'm well aware that I can do something like this: WebView view = new WebView(this); view.loadData("my html with text justification","text/html","utf-8"); But it gets ugly when you want to set the size, the color or other common properties of the TextView, there must be a more convenient way of doing it.

It is not giving me any error but always gibing null values in second activity.     Hey all, I have created a program in Java that uses Jpanels within Jpanels. One example of this is having a side view containing buttons that change the main view when pressed. The main view also has buttons that can be used to alter itself. I am trying to re-create this on the android. I have my layout set up from an xml, with a side panel containing buttons and the main view. There is another xml that contains what I want in the main view. Now I am struggling to get this separate xml to be displayed in the main view and can’t figure out how I would get the class to handle its own input. I don’t want to paste the code into the main.xml as I want to keep things object orientated and each view needs some custom elements such as different textviews. An example of what I am trying to convert for the android is below:- //The ViewInt class has its own layout ViewInt tempView = new ViewInt(i, mFloorNo); //The viewInt class is then added to the main window. mainWindowPanel.add(tempView); This small bit of code would create a view, add it to the main view and then any input in the main window is handled by that class, but at the same time any input not in this main window is handled by another class (probably the root class). Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. To clarify: The program has a side panel layout, containing buttons. And a main view layout that is empty. I am trying to set a .xml layout to this main view layout, and have it so that if any buttons are pressed in that main view then a class for that layout will handle it.

I can understand how to do any type of custom route if it expands from or is similar/smaller than the Default Route. However, I am trying figure out how to do a route similar to: /Language/{id}/Question/{id}/ And what I would like, too, is similar to how SO works. Something like: /Language/{id}/Arabic/Question/{ID}/Some-Question-Title Where "Arabic" and "Some-Question-Title" can be almost anything because what really matters is the ID's Am I going beyond what can be done with the extended URL past the language ID?

But I need to take screen shot of the particular view. I tried other ways but those give me a black screen as screen shot, some posts says that it requires rooted device. Can any one help me please. I'm in need of this solution. Help me....

    hello I need to find out how big a view will be after attaching it to its parent. I have overridden this method: onMeasure(int, int); but it looks like this method is invoked only when I actually add my custom view to it's container using: addView(myView); Do you think there is a way to get this information before rendering the view itself? Basically I need to know the actuall size before attaching it and not attach the view at all if it would take more certain amount of space. anybody?

    Hi, I'm developing an application that will most likely be preinstalled on devices. It will be also available on Market. Is there a way to update those instances that are not downloaded through Market, since Market won't notify users about an update. I was thinking about, as suggested here, trying to contact my site periodically, and when update is available, download it. I'm wondering if there is a way to do this update automatically, so that user doesn't have to do anything (like running the package manually). Or, when my site shows update is available, to offer users an update through Market, even though it's not installed through Market. Thanks!
