  • Could Wordpress be used/extended as a medium-size ecommerce site? [migrated]

    - by Aphelion
    Is wordpress reliable enough and could it be used with a proper plugin as a medium sized ecommerce site? We are talking around 1500 products here, estimates say around 5 to 10 costumers per day, usually returning ones. Some days none. I have a client who wants to sell online. We are situated in a country where people dont see web as something serious enough. Still, they literally have a budget of pretty much none. And 1500 products to sell online. Magento, or any other open source ecommerce platform are out of the question, there is just no resources for starting something like that. Or any time. Only way is something free, small, absolutely not resource hungry as Wordpress. I have to fight with making it work with only what i have at disposal. Also, if you can recommend any wordpress plugin for the job(WP-ecommerce?), i will be very thankful. I guess something paid, up to maximum 50$ would work too.

  • mouse to Three.js world coordinates during TrackballControls

    - by PanChan
    I know there are a lot of answers how to translate the mouse coordinates to the Three.js world coordinates (I prefere this one). But I have troubles on calculating when using TrackballControls. First what I expect to do: I want to add a zoom function to my scene. Not by the mouse wheel, the user should be able to draw a rectangular and by lifting the mouse button, the camera is zooming on this rectangular. I've implemented all and it works, but only when the user didn't rotate/zoom/pan with TrackballControls! If the camera was manipulated, I get wrong coordinates for my drawn rectangular. I really can't figure out why... I only know that it's an issue with TrackballControls, because without them, it works. Does anyone see my mistake? I'm sitting here for two days now and can't find it.... :( var onZoomPlaneMouseDown = function(event){ event.preventDefault(); var plane = document.getElementById("zoomPlane"); var innerPlane = document.getElementById("innerZoomPlane"); var mouseButton = event.keyCode || event.which; mouse.x = ( event.clientX / WIDTH ) * 2 - 1; mouse.y = - ( event.clientY / HEIGHT ) * 2 + 1; if(mouseButton === 1){ var vector = new THREE.Vector3( mouse.x, mouse.y, 0.5 ); projector.unprojectVector( vector, camera ); var dir = vector.sub( camera.position ).normalize(); var distance = - camera.position.z / dir.z; zoomPlaneUpperCorner = camera.position.clone().add( dir.multiplyScalar( distance ) ); innerPlane.style.display = "block"; innerPlane.style.top = event.clientY + "px"; innerPlane.style.left = event.clientX + "px"; } if(mouseButton === 3){ plane.style.display = "none"; innerPlane.style.display = "none"; } }; var onZoomPlaneMouseUp = function(event){ event.preventDefault(); var plane = document.getElementById("zoomPlane"); var innerPlane = document.getElementById("innerZoomPlane"); var mouseButton = event.keyCode || event.which; mouse.x = ( event.clientX / WIDTH ) * 2 - 1; mouse.y = - ( event.clientY / HEIGHT ) * 2 + 1; var vector = new THREE.Vector3( mouse.x, mouse.y, 0.5 ); projector.unprojectVector( vector, camera ); var dir = vector.sub( camera.position ).normalize(); var distance = - camera.position.z / dir.z; zoomPlaneLowerCorner = camera.position.clone().add( dir.multiplyScalar( distance ) ); if(mouseButton === 1){ plane.style.display = "none"; innerPlane.style.display = "none"; var center = new THREE.Vector3(); center.subVectors(zoomPlaneLowerCorner, zoomPlaneUpperCorner); center.multiplyScalar( 0.5 ); center.add(zoomPlaneUpperCorner); var rayDir = new THREE.Vector3(); rayDir.subVectors(center, camera.position ).normalize(); controls.target = center; var height = zoomPlaneUpperCorner.y - zoomPlaneLowerCorner.y; var distanceToCenter = camera.position.distanceTo(center); var minDist = (height / 2) / (Math.tan((camera.fov/2)*Math.PI/180)); camera.translateOnAxis(rayDir, (distanceToCenter - minDist)); } };

  • Getting this CSS to work in IE6

    - by jerrygarciuh
    Hi folks, Working on this page: http://www.karlsenner.dreamhosters.com/about.php and having trouble with the navigation in IE6. It validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional. Works great in FF, IE 8, Chrome, and Windows Safari. In IE6 and Opera 10 the drop menus appear too high. I tried adding in the different versions of http://code.google.com/p/ie7-js/ but it did not solve the issue in IE. The CSS looks like this: #wrapper { position: relative; display: block; background-color: inherit; margin: 0px auto; padding: 0; width: 900px; min-height: 900px; } #nav {} .navImage { position:relative; display:inline; height:102px; /* added in hopes of helping IE position but no dice */ } .subMenu { position:absolute; z-index:10; background-color:#FFF; top: 14px; left:0; } .subMenu a:link, .subMenu a:visited, .subMenu a:active{ display:block; width:90%; padding:6px; margin:0; color:#3CF; font-family:Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size:14px; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold; } .subMenu a:hover{ display:block; width:90%; padding:6px; margin:0; color:#3CF; background-color:#CCC; font-family:Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size:14px; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold; } jQuery rollovers: $('#navcompany').hover(function () { $('#companyMenu').css('display', 'block'); $('#companyImg').attr('src','g/nav/company_over.gif'); }, function () { $('#companyMenu').css('display', 'none'); $('#companyImg').attr('src','g/nav/company.gif'); }); And one of the cells. Since the menu is coming out of PHP and IE was not respecting the widths I just use PHP to get the nav image widths and write them to styles on the fly. Solved the width issue as IE acted like they should inherit their width from the wrapper. This may be a clue as to why they don't appear below their nav images but I can't sort it. <div id="navcompany" class="navImage" style="width:128px"> <a href="about.php"> <img src="g/nav/company_over.gif" name="companyImg" width="128" height="102" border="0" id="companyImg" alt="company" /> </a> <div id="companyMenu" class="subMenu" style="display:none; width:128px"> <a href="about.php">About us</a> <a href="location.php">Our location</a> </div> </div> Any advice greatly appreciated! • How does this decorator make a call to the 'register' method?

    - by BryanWheelock
    I'm trying to understand what is going on in the decorator @not_authenticated. The next step in the TraceRoute is to the method 'register' which is also located in django_authopenid/views.py which I just don't understand because I don't see anywhere that register is even mentioned in signin() How is the method 'register' called? def not_authenticated(func): """ decorator that redirect user to next page if he is already logged.""" def decorated(request, *args, **kwargs): if request.user.is_authenticated(): next = request.GET.get("next", "/") return HttpResponseRedirect(next) return func(request, *args, **kwargs) return decorated @not_authenticated def signin(request,newquestion=False,newanswer=False): """ signin page. • Django - no module named app

    - by Koran
    Hi, I have been trying to get an application written in django working - but it is not working at all. I have been working on for some time too - and it is working on dev-server perfectly. But I am unable to put in the production env (apahce). My project name is apstat and the app name is basic. I try to access it as following Blockquote http://hostname/apstat But it shows the following error: MOD_PYTHON ERROR ProcessId: 6002 Interpreter: 'domU-12-31-39-06-DD-F4.compute-1.internal' ServerName: 'domU-12-31-39-06-DD-F4.compute-1.internal' DocumentRoot: '/home/ubuntu/server/' URI: '/apstat/' Location: '/apstat' Directory: None Filename: '/home/ubuntu/server/apstat/' PathInfo: '' Phase: 'PythonHandler' Handler: 'django.core.handlers.modpython' Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/mod_python/importer.py", line 1537, in HandlerDispatch default=default_handler, arg=req, silent=hlist.silent) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/mod_python/importer.py", line 1229, in _process_target result = _execute_target(config, req, object, arg) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/mod_python/importer.py", line 1128, in _execute_target result = object(arg) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/modpython.py", line 228, in handler return ModPythonHandler()(req) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/modpython.py", line 201, in __call__ response = self.get_response(request) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/base.py", line 134, in get_response return self.handle_uncaught_exception(request, resolver, exc_info) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/base.py", line 154, in handle_uncaught_exception return debug.technical_500_response(request, *exc_info) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/views/debug.py", line 40, in technical_500_response html = reporter.get_traceback_html() File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/views/debug.py", line 114, in get_traceback_html return t.render(c) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py", line 178, in render return self.nodelist.render(context) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py", line 779, in render bits.append(self.render_node(node, context)) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/debug.py", line 81, in render_node raise wrapped TemplateSyntaxError: Caught an exception while rendering: No module named basic Original Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/debug.py", line 71, in render_node result = node.render(context) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/debug.py", line 87, in render output = force_unicode(self.filter_expression.resolve(context)) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py", line 572, in resolve new_obj = func(obj, *arg_vals) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/defaultfilters.py", line 687, in date return format(value, arg) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/dateformat.py", line 269, in format return df.format(format_string) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/dateformat.py", line 30, in format pieces.append(force_unicode(getattr(self, piece)())) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/dateformat.py", line 175, in r return self.format('D, j M Y H:i:s O') File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/dateformat.py", line 30, in format pieces.append(force_unicode(getattr(self, piece)())) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/encoding.py", line 71, in force_unicode s = unicode(s) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/functional.py", line 201, in __unicode_cast return self.__func(*self.__args, **self.__kw) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/__init__.py", line 62, in ugettext return real_ugettext(message) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/trans_real.py", line 286, in ugettext return do_translate(message, 'ugettext') File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/trans_real.py", line 276, in do_translate _default = translation(settings.LANGUAGE_CODE) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/trans_real.py", line 194, in translation default_translation = _fetch(settings.LANGUAGE_CODE) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/translation/trans_real.py", line 180, in _fetch app = import_module(appname) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/utils/importlib.py", line 35, in import_module __import__(name) ImportError: No module named basic My settings.py is as follows: INSTALLED_APPS = ( 'django.contrib.auth', 'django.contrib.contenttypes', 'django.contrib.sessions', 'django.contrib.sites', 'apstat.basic', 'django.contrib.admin', ) If I remove the apstat.basic, it goes through, but that is not a solution. • What would cause ANY .NET application to crash immediately... except a project I create and Debug in

    - by blak3r
    My software recently got deployed to a customer who said that the application was crashing immediately after it started. After some initial debugging, the customer provided me remote access to one of the computers which was unable to run the application. I found that the crash wasn't specific to my application. Any application which depended on the .NET framework crashed immediately. Conveniently, Visual Studio 2008 was installed so I created a quick hello world application on it and clicked Debug. The application worked fine. But, then when I tried to execute the generated binaries in the /bin/Debug/HelloWorld.exe directory outside of visual studio it crashed. List of things i've tried (UPDATED): I checked that "Everyone" has Read&Execute permissions for c:\Windows. To test that the problem was with the .NET Framework (and not my application), I attempted to download Paint .NET on to the computers. The setup frontend crashed in the same manner. Performed a repair of the .NET framework as outlined in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908077 (Boy was this fun and time consuming). No luck. Installed .NET 3.5 SP1 (before it just had .NET 3.5) Note: my application targets 2.0 so I did this more as a long shot... but i learned in the process that .NET 3.5 SP1 also updates the underlying frameworks. Ran Aaron Stebner's .NET Setup Verification Tool. This tool indicated that .NET was successfully installed. (I forget if i checked all the versions but at least 2.0 worked). Tested some mini hello world applications which were targeted for .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.5 and both crashed in the same way. Tried launching .NET apps via windbg cmd line. Doing this did allow me invoke my simple hello world applications. So, simple .NET hello world works when invoked by windbg or by launching via debug in visual studio... but doesn't if i try to execute it standalone. I created a dump file using WinDbg. It wasn't all that revealing to me. The customer who's machine this was on lost interest in solving it and just reimaged the machine :(. Thanks for all the contributions though.

  • The maximum message size quota for incoming messages (65536) has been exceeded.

    - by DaleyKD
    My WCF Service has an OperationContract that accepts, as a parameter, an array of objects. This can potentially be quite large. After looking for fixes for Bad Request: 400, I found the real reason: the maximum message size. I know this question has been asked before in MANY places. I've tried what everyone says: "Increase the sizes in the client and server config files." I have. It still doesn't work. My Service's web.config: <system.serviceModel> <services> <service name="myService"> <endpoint name="myEndpoint" address="" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="myBinding" contract="Meisel.WCF.PDFDocs.IPDFDocsService" /> </service> </services> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="myBinding" closeTimeout="00:11:00" openTimeout="00:11:00" receiveTimeout="00:15:00" sendTimeout="00:15:00" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647" transferMode="Buffered" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" useDefaultWebProxy="true"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="2147483647" maxNameTableCharCount="2147483647" /> <security mode="None" /> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true" /> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true" /> <dataContractSerializer maxItemsInObjectGraph="2147483647" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <serviceHostingEnvironment multipleSiteBindingsEnabled="true" /> </system.serviceModel> My Client's app.config: <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="BasicHttpBinding_IPDFDocsService" closeTimeout="00:11:00" openTimeout="00:11:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:11:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" transferMode="Buffered" useDefaultWebProxy="true"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="2147483647" maxNameTableCharCount="2147483647" /> <security mode="None"> <transport clientCredentialType="None" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="UserName" algorithmSuite="Default" /> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> <client> <endpoint address="http://localhost:8451/PDFDocsService.svc" behaviorConfiguration="MoreItemsInObjectGraph" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="BasicHttpBinding_IPDFDocsService" contract="PDFDocsService.IPDFDocsService" name="BasicHttpBinding_IPDFDocsService" /> </client> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="MoreItemsInObjectGraph"> <dataContractSerializer maxItemsInObjectGraph="2147483647" /> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> What can I possibly be missing or doing wrong?   • iPad: Mobile Safari, HTML5 <video>, and jquery transitions

    - by justinbach
    I'm building a simple proof-of-concept for an iPad-specific website that would use video transitions to bring users from section to section. For purposes of the proof of concept, each "section" is just an image with a semitransparent content text box positioned above it. There are just 2 sections, "home" and "contact", and they've got a transition video sandwiched between them via z-indexing. The idea for the proof of concept is that clicking on the "home" section causes it to disappear, followed by playback of the transition video, which (upon completion) disappears to reveal the "contact" section. Everything is working fine with this version of the demo on the iPad and on Safari for Windows and OS X. Here's the JS: var myVideo = document.getElementsByTagName('video')[0]; $('document').ready(function() { $('#home').click(function() { $(this).css('display','none'); myVideo.play(); myVideo.addEventListener('ended', function() { $('#transition').css('display','none'); }); }); }); What I'd like to do is use a jQuery fadeOut() effect to fade out the text box prior to starting the video when the "home" section is clicked. The code seems simple enough: $('document').ready(function() { $('#home').click(function() { $('#home-copy').fadeOut('slow', function() { $('#home').css('display','none'); myVideo.play(); myVideo.addEventListener('ended', function() { $('#transition').css('display','none'); $('#home-copy').fadeIn('slow'); }); }); }); }); and it's working exactly as desired on desktop versions of Safari. On the iPad, however, the text box fades out as expected and the home section disappears as well, but the video stubbornly refuses to start playing. I really don't know why this would be the case, but that's what's happening. I'd appreciate any advice you might have! Incidentally, here's the markup: <div id="main-container"> <div id="home-copy"> <h1>Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet</h1> <p>Donec blandit pharetra luctus. Nam at porttitor odio. Nullam sem orci, venenatis sed pharetra eget, commodo rhoncus quam. Ut euismod vehicula bibendum. Curabitur in magna ante, id fringilla lacus. Nullam id elit eget lacus feugiat porta. Nulla vitae orci vehicula risus sagittis egestas quis sed justo.</p> </div> <div id="home"> <img src="images/home.jpg" width="1152" height="720" /> </div> <video id="transition" src="video/home_to_contact_lo_res.mp4" preload width="1152" height="720"></video> <div id="contact"> <img src="images/contact.jpg" width="1152" height="720" /> </div> </div>

  • HTML: Place an image on top of another one

    - by Dimitris Baltas
    Inside a div, there is a picture that should have 10px margin in all directions from the DIV's border. On the left bottom corner of the picture there is an about-image. The picture is only displayed when its loaded in the DOM through jquery. The problem is that the existence of the about-image dislocates the picture downwards as many pixels as the height of the about-image. I am looking for the cleanest possible alternative to keep the picture inside the DIV and still display the about-image on top of it. Setting the picture as background will not work since i need the picture to load at once. Any improvement on the #about css would be greatly appreciated. Below is a full html page that reproduces the issue <html> <head> <title>Troubleshooting :: align the main picture inside the DIV</title> <style type="text/css"> html, body { background-color: #000000; } #about { z-index:2; position:relative; top:82%; left:3%; } #pic { width:100%; height:96%; } #main-content-image { height:100%; margin-right:10px; margin-left:10px; margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:10px; } #main-content { height:490px; border-width: 1px; border-style: solid; border-color: #777777; } #main-content-image.loading { background: url(http://farros.gr/images/ajax-loader2.gif) no-repeat center center; } a { text-decoration: none; text-decoration: none; color: #868686; outline:none; } .hide { display:none; } </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- $(document).ready(function(){ $(function () { var img = new Image(); $(img).load(function () { $(this).hide(); $(this).width('100%'); $(this).height('96%'); $('#main-content-image').removeClass('loading').append(this); $(this).fadeIn(); }).error(function () { // notify the user that the image could not be loaded }).attr('src', 'http://farros.gr/images/bg.jpg'); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="main-content"> <div id="main-content-image" class="loading"> <a href="#"><img id="about" src='http://farros.gr/images/about.png' alt='Haris Farros'/></a> </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Cross Browser Issue

    - by dazedandconfused
    My background is in WinForms programming and I'm trying to branch out a bit. I'm finding cross-browser issues a frustrating barrier in general, but have a specific one that I just can't seem to work through. I want to display an image and place a semi-transparent bar across the top and bottom. This isn't my ultimate goal, of course, but it demonstrates the problem I'm having ina a relatively short code fragment so let's go with it. The sample code below displays as intended in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. In IE8, the bar at the bottom doesn't appear at all. I've researched it for hours but just can't seem to come up with the solution. I'm sure this is some dumb rookie mistake, but gotta start somewhere. Code snippet... <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> </script> <style type="text/css"> .workarea { position: relative; border: 1px solid black; background-color: #ccc; overflow: hidden; cursor: move; -moz-user-focus: normal; -moz-user-select: none; unselectable: on; } .semitransparent { filter: alpha(opacity=70); -moz-opacity: 0.7; -khtml-opacity: 0.7; opacity: 0.7; background-color: Gray; } </style> </head> <body style="width: 800px; height: 600px;"> <div id="workArea" class="workarea" style="width: 800px; height: 350px; left: 100px; top: 50px; background-color: White; border: 1px solid black;"> <img alt="" src="images/TestImage.jpg" style="left: 0px; top: 0px; border: none; z-index: 1;" /> <div id="topBar" class="semitransparent" style="position: absolute;width: 800px; height: 75px; left: 0px; top: 0px; min-height: 75px; border: none; z-index: 2;" /> <div id="bottomBar" class="semitransparent" style="position: absolute; width: 800px; height: 75px; left: 0px; top: 275px; min-height: 75px; border: none; z-index: 2;" /> </div> </body> </html>

  • css problem lining up some icons...

    - by Ronedog
    I'm having a problem lining up some icons and am new enough to css that I'm not exactly sure how to explain this. So I've attached a picture of what the out put is rendering like. I've also included what the css and html code is. Hopefully someone can help point me in the right direction to help fix this. I want the "edit", "archive", "delete" icons to all line up in the right side exactly the same as the first row in the picture. Here is the html: <ul id="nav"> <li>California <div class="portf_edit"> <span> <img src="../images/edit.png"> </span> </div> <div class="portf_archive"> <span> <img src="../images/archive.png"> </span> </div> <div class="portf_delete"> <span> <img src="../images/delete.png"> </span> </div> </li> <li>Hyrum <div class="portf_edit"> <span> <img src="../images/edit.png"> </span> </div> <div class="portf_archive"> <span> <img src="../images/archive.png"> </span> </div> <div class="portf_delete"> <span> <img src="../images/delete.png"> </span> </div> </li> Here is the css: li { list-style-type:none; vertical-align: bottom; list-style-image: none; left:0px; text-align:left; } ul { list-style-type: none; vertical-align: bottom; list-style-image: none; left:0px; } ul#nav{ margin-left:0; padding-left:0px; text-indent:15px; } .portf_edit{ float:right; position: relative; right:50px; display:block; } .portf_archive{ float:right; position: relative; right:-5px; display:block; } .portf_delete{ float:right; position: relative; right: -60px; display:block; } Here's what is being output: Any ideas where to start? Thanks.

  • ie9/CSS: Flyout menu not working in ie9, but looks great in Firefox/Chrome

    Please see this flyout menu: http://www.caseen.com/store.html. It looks amazing in both Firefox and Chrome, but not in IE9! Trying to see what is going on =(. It looks like ie9 is completing ignoring the stylesheet, but in error checking and clicking ie9 direct mode, it shows up however VERY ugly with huge nasty white borders around the links! • vertical navigation that shows hidden submenu on click using JQuery

    - by user346602
    Hi, I am trying to make a menu that works like the one on this flash site: http://elevensix.de/ When I click "portfolio", only then to the subnavigation links reveal themselves. Right now I have only managed to get a typical vertical "reveal subnavigation on hover menu" working. What is required is that once the appropriate menu item it cicked, its submenu shows. This submenu remains revealed as the submenu items are hovered over then selected. When the submenu item is selected, the content shows, and both the menu and submenu remain visible (the selected menu and submenu item are given a distinct colour to show the navigation path). Whew. Here is my html: <div id="nav"> <ul> <li><a href="#">about</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonials</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">testimonial1</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial2</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial3</a></li> <li><a href="#">testimonial4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Services</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">services1</a></li> <li><a href="#">services2</a></li> <li><a href="#">services3</a></li> <li><a href="#">services4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Gallery</a></li> <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li> </ul> </div><!--end #nav--> and here is my css: #nav { width:160px; position: relative; top: 250px; left: 20px; } #nav ul { margin:0px; padding:0px; } #nav ul li { line-height:24px; list-style:none; } #nav a { text-decoration: none; color: #9d9fa2; } #nav ul li a:hover { position:relative; color: #00aeef; } #nav ul ul { display:none; position:absolute; left:160px; top:4px; } #nav ul li:hover ul { display:block; color: #00aeef; } #nav ul ul li { width:160px; float:left; display:inline; line-height:16px; } .selected { color: #00aeef !important; } Should I be giving the submenus a class so that I can hide then show them? And where would the class be applied? To the ul? could I use the same class for both submenus? Am I wrong in how I am applying the display:none values for this purpose? Many thanks to all the clever people on here.

  • How to get dropdown menu to open/close on click rather than hover?

    - by TankDriver
    Hello! I am very new to java and ajax/jquery and have been working on trying to get a script to open and close the drop menu on click rather that hover. The menu in question is found on http://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/ and is the dark menu on the right side under the header. I would like it to open and close like the other menu that is further below it (it is light gray and is in the "Select Division" module). The gray menu is part of a menu and the language menu is not. I have a jquery import as well which can be found in the view source of the above link. My Java: <script type="text/javascript"> /* Language Selector */ $(function() { $("#lang-selector li").hover(function() { $('ul:first',this).css('display', 'block'); }, function() { $('ul:first',this).css('display', 'none'); }); }); $(document).ready(function(){ /* Navigation */ $('.subnav-game').hide(); $('.subnav-game:eq(0)').show(); $('.preorder-type').hide(); $('.preorder-type:eq(3)').show(); }); </script> My CSS: #lang-selector { font-size: 11px; height: 21px; margin: 7px auto 17px auto; width: 186px; } #lang-selector span { color: #999; float: left; margin: 4px 0 0 87px; padding-right: 4px; text-align: right; } #lang-selector ul { float: left; list-style: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; } #lang-selector ul li a { padding: 3px 10px 1px 10px; } #lang-selector ul, #lang-selector a { width: 186px; } #lang-selector ul ul { display: none; position: absolute; } #lang-selector ul ul li { border-top: 1px solid #666; float: left; position: relative; } #lang-selector a { background: url("http://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/images/language_bg.png") no-repeat; color: #666; display: block; font-size: 10px; height: 17px; padding: 4px 10px 0 10px; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; width: 166px; } #lang-selector ul ul li a { background: #333; color: #999; } #lang-selector ul ul li a:hover { background: #c4262c; color: #fff; } My HTML: <div id="lang-selector"> <ul> <li> <a href="#">Choose a Language</a> <ul> <li><a href="?iw_lang=en">English</a></li> <li><a href="?iw_lang=de">Deutsch</a></li> <li><a href="?iw_lang=es">Espa&ntilde;ol</a></li> <li><a href="?iw_lang=fr">Fran&ccedil;ais</a></li> <li><a href="?iw_lang=it">Italiano</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> Thanks!

  • C# .Net 3.5 Asynchronous Socket Server Performance Problem

    - by iBrAaAa
    I'm developing an Asynchronous Game Server using .Net Socket Asynchronous Model( BeginAccept/EndAccept...etc.) The problem I'm facing is described like that: When I have only one client connected, the server response time is very fast but once a second client connects, the server response time increases too much. I've measured the time from a client sends a message to the server until it gets the reply in both cases. I found that the average time in case of one client is about 17ms and in case of 2 clients about 280ms!!! What I really see is that: When 2 clients are connected and only one of them is moving(i.e. requesting service from the server) it is equivalently equal to the case when only one client is connected(i.e. fast response). However, when the 2 clients move at the same time(i.e. requests service from the server at the same time) their motion becomes very slow (as if the server replies each one of them in order i.e. not simultaneously). Basically, what I am doing is that: When a client requests a permission for motion from the server and the server grants him the request, the server then broadcasts the new position of the client to all the players. So if two clients are moving in the same time, the server is eventually trying to broadcast to both clients the new position of each of them at the same time. EX: Client1 asks to go to position (2,2) Client2 asks to go to position (5,5) Server sends to each of Client1 & Client2 the same two messages: message1: "Client1 at (2,2)" message2: "Client2 at (5,5)" I believe that the problem comes from the fact that Socket class is thread safe according MSDN documentation http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.net.sockets.socket.aspx. (NOT SURE THAT IT IS THE PROBLEM) Below is the code for the server: /// /// This class is responsible for handling packet receiving and sending /// public class NetworkManager { /// /// An integer to hold the server port number to be used for the connections. Its default value is 5000. /// private readonly int port = 5000; /// /// hashtable contain all the clients connected to the server. /// key: player Id /// value: socket /// private readonly Hashtable connectedClients = new Hashtable(); /// /// An event to hold the thread to wait for a new client /// private readonly ManualResetEvent resetEvent = new ManualResetEvent(false); /// /// keeps track of the number of the connected clients /// private int clientCount; /// /// The socket of the server at which the clients connect /// private readonly Socket mainSocket = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp); /// /// The socket exception that informs that a client is disconnected /// private const int ClientDisconnectedErrorCode = 10054; /// /// The event which fires when a client sends a position message /// public PositionUpdateMessageRecieved PositionUpdateMessageEvent { get; set; } /// /// keeps track of the number of the connected clients /// public int ClientCount { get { return clientCount; } } /// /// A getter for this class instance. /// /// only instance. public static NetworkManager NetworkManagerInstance { get { return networkManagerInstance; } } private NetworkManager() {} /// Starts the game server and holds this thread alive /// public void StartServer() { //Bind the mainSocket to the server IP address and port mainSocket.Bind(new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, port)); //The server starts to listen on the binded socket with max connection queue //1024 mainSocket.Listen(1024); //Start accepting clients asynchronously mainSocket.BeginAccept(OnClientConnected, null); //Wait until there is a client wants to connect resetEvent.WaitOne(); } /// /// Receives connections of new clients and fire the NewClientConnected event /// private void OnClientConnected(IAsyncResult asyncResult) { Interlocked.Increment(ref clientCount); ClientInfo newClient = new ClientInfo { WorkerSocket = mainSocket.EndAccept(asyncResult), PlayerId = clientCount }; //Add the new client to the hashtable and increment the number of clients connectedClients.Add(newClient.PlayerId, newClient); //fire the new client event informing that a new client is connected to the server if (NewClientEvent != null) { NewClientEvent(this, System.EventArgs.Empty); • Using tslib (touchscreen input) with DirectFB on embedded system (gumstix overo)

    - by emi1faber
    I'm attempting to use tslib with DirectFB on the gumstix Overo. Everything seems to be compiled correctly, as when DirectFB starts up, I get messages saying "Started 'tslib Input' ... DirectFB/Input: tslib touchscreen 0 0.1 (tslib)" etc. However, I haven't been able to find any example code showing how one reads the X-Y coordinates of a touchscreen press. Is there any example code out there to initialize the touchscreen and return the coordinates of a touchscreen press? Thanks in advance, Ben
