CSS navigation submenu and seperator

I have created a navigation bar that is centered with CSS which works. Each li item is separated with a border which is a background image. When hovering on the nav items, the separator disappears because the hover changes the background (I guess) but I wonder how I can fix this, padding or margin can't work because it will just shift the li element. Second problem is that the sub menu items aren't displaying correctly and I have no idea why... Getting error "Activex Component cannot create Object" while using .NET dll in VB 6 Code

HI, I am deploying a VB6 application on client machine. The Application need to access code from a C#.NET dll. I created a COM object of the .NET dll and used it VB 6 using the side by side versioning (Registration free COM). It is running fine on the development machine but on the client machine it is throwing an error "ActiveX Component cannot create Object" I created two manifest files one for the VB application and the other one for the C# application. I embedded the C# manifest file in the C#.NET dll through visual studio 2008. Am I missing some step. Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

How does a youtube embed suppress the buffering of a video file?

When a youtube video is displayed within an external site, a poster image is displayed but the actual video is not loaded until the user clicks the play button. At that point, the video file begins to buffer and the video plays. This seems to be different than many sites, where a flash video is embedded and the video begins to buffer automatically in the background on page load, regardless of whether the video is set to autoplay or not. How would you set up a flash video (non-youtube) to have the same behavior as youtube, where buffering does not occur at pageload? Is it an output setting that is selected during the flash video rendering process, or is it accomplished using a different method?

Jquery .load and inner jquery .append

Hello, Ive just started using jquery for the .load ajax functionality. When i load an external page to a specific div it loads fine. inside the external page there is an .append that .appends javascript to the head. Any custom/third party Visual C# text box Controls with extra features?

I'm writing a program that uses the textbox in visual C# to read a log file. When dealing with very large amounts of text, writing to the textbox is incredibly slow. The textbox also lacks many features. Are there any custom textbox controls that are faster, or even a sort of embedded editor (with ability to highlight certain words, indent, input bookmarks)? Many of the features I want are programmable, but it would be nice if there was a faster textbox or one that already had these features :) Thanks.

Ok, I'm revising for my upcoming year 2 exams on a CS course and its likely something like this will come up. my question is what is an ideal application that would especially benefit from the program features of each of the three languages? I have a vague idea but getting a second opinion could really help. JavaPortability, easy - good for GUIs. C++Fast but may requite significant changes in order to be moved from system to system, good for image processing. CI'm unsure here small embedded applications? SVN user guidelines

I have been tasked with writing a set of user guidelines for SVN for developers in my company. The guidelines are to be solely from a user perspective (e.g. commit comments, when to commit) and not from an administrative perspective (e.g. when to tag, how to structure). An administrative guideline will be written in a separate document. We are an app development house involved also in embedded development. So our developers range from HTML5 and Flash to Java and C. Some of our coding involves forking very large (millions of files) code bases. Other parts involve us engaging in ground-up development. Are there any best practices for use of SVN from a user (i.e. grunt developer) perspective?

Changing the way widgets are rendered/displayed in a form on the template

I have a form with a few other embedded forms and some various widgets. The widgets are all saved in an array $form['elements'] and for some of them, I want to display labels and things, but for others I only want to display the basic rendering. foreach($form['elements'] as $elem) echo $elem->render(); this displays everything about the widget. The way it is right now, I couldn't for example call $elem['..'] because the different subforms appear in a random order and have different variable names. I assume I could still put some checks in the template, but it seems easier to fix this in the widget class, like override one of the render functions or something. How would I go about doing this or do you have any links that could help me understand how do do this? on a side note, one of my widgets is the sfWidgetFormChoice and I have no clue where it actually renders or how renderer_classes work

C# RichTextBox - Partially setting DetectUrls=false

Hi, I have this RichTextBox and I have embedded some http links in it. I have set DetectUrls = true, and it displays the links correctly and handles in the event. In the same RichTextBox, I have one more string displayed which looks like this Type http://< Your host name Now, since DetectUrls= true, the portion "http://<" is displayed as a link, while I want this to be text. If I set the DetectUrls=false just before displaying this string, none of the other links are displayed as links. Is there a way to partially set DetectUrls for some strings and not for others? Render Silverlight Animation to video file

Hi guys I need to be able to render a silverlight storyboard animation to video. The animated content itself could be simple UIElements, Images or even two or more videos playing at the same time. Several ideas came to mind like RenderTargetBitmap on a single frame basis, but: 1) I've never tested this against video embedded content 2) Don't know how to actually compose the video from the generated images. Expression Encoder was also on my mind, but I don't know if it's possible to integrate it in a Silverlight/XBAP app to fulfill what's expected from it. What's your opinion on this?

How can I modify the application file of an application that is currently running (on Linux)?

I have an application running called AppFS. This application has an ext2 filesystem just attached to the end of the file (it's positioned so that the application binary exists in a 1MB spacing area, followed by the ext2 data). Now I've got FUSE embedded in the program and I've managed to extract the filesystem out of the application data into a temporary file so that FUSE can mount / use it. The problem I have now is writing the temporary file back into the application file. I get "Text file busy" presumably because the application has locked itself and won't let writes occur. Is there a way I can force the file to become unlocked so I can write data to it? (It's important to note that I'm not changing the application binary area - just rewriting the ext2 component.) It needs to be unlocked without requiring root permissions (unlocked by the same user who started the application).

One of the dll are using a third party dll that is licenced (DllA is using DllB - licenced). In the DllA project I've attached the file licences.licx as embedded resource. Why can't I use the DllA from the main project? The licences.licx must be added to the main solution project? To the project that's generating the exe file?? Thank you,

C or C++: how do loaders/wrappers work?

Here's an example of what I mean... User runs LOADER.EXE program LOADER.EXE downloads another EXE but keeps it all in memory without saving it to disk Runs the downloaded EXE just as it would if it were executed from disk, but does it straight from memory I've seen a few applications like this, and I've never seen an example or an explanation of how it works. Does anyone know? Another example is having an encrypted EXE embedded in another one. It gets extracted and decrypted in memory, without ever being saved to disk before it gets executed. I've seen that one used in some applications to prevent piracy.

QuickTime movie disappearing from Javascript when scrolled offscreen in Firefox?

I have a web page I'm creating that uses Javascript to control an embedded QuickTime player. I add the QuickTime movie to the page using the AC_QuickTime.js file from Apple (as described here - http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/QuickTime/Conceptual/QTScripting_HTML/QTScripting_HTML_Document/ScriptingHTML.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001525-2-SW1 ). Everything seems to be working fine - I can call methods on the QuickTime movie and control its playback (as well as get the current timestamp). The problem is that in Firefox, when I scroll down such that the QuickTime player is no longer visible, I get the following error every time I try to call a method on the QuickTime movie: Error calling method on NPObject! This does not occur in Safari. Why is this happening, and is there any way to work around this?

Is it possible to embed C code in a C# project?

I know that it's possible to compile my C code into a dll, and then use P/Invoke to call that code. What I wondered if it was possible to have a chunk of C code embedded directly in my code, perhaps only available to one class... Something like this (non-working) example: public class MyClass { extern "C" { int do_something_in_c(int i) { return i*2; } } public int DoSomething(int value) { return do_something_in_c(value); } } I've been trying for a few hours using Visual Studio 2008, but I'm not getting anywhere, and I suspect that it isn't actually possible. Iframe contents not accessible from a page in different domain

I am able to get the event notification whenever Google Finance page loads. Now problem is this that contents of this page is not accessible through javascript. It seems to be some security issue (firebug notified). Is there any workaround so that I can access values (result and select boxes) using javascript? How to define an array inside a function in C?

So in my source file I have the folowin function: void update(state* old_state, state* measurement, uint32_t size) { state new_state[size]; //some function using measurement and old_state and returning the result in newstate arm_fadd_32(measurement,old_state,newstate,size); // rest of the code } Now the compiler throws an error saying that error#28:expression must have a constant value. I think it's due to the fact that even though inside the method the size local variable is not changing the compiler is expecting a constant while defining the size. I have tried the following: int const a = size; and then tried to reinitialize it says constant value is not known. I did some research in internet and it appears that there is no easier way without using malloc, which I don't want to since I am using the code for some embedded application. Is there a way to avoid this problem without really using malloc? Thanks in advance guys!

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to use mod_rewrite so that I can replace linked images (coming in externally) and use local ones instead. Why am I doing this? I have a plugin which I'm integrating into my site, which uses ugly external images as buttons, and I want to redo these buttons to match my site. The links come in externally and are not embedded in a plugin php somewhere, so I figure there might be some way of using mod_rewrite to intercept and replace the incoming links. Is it actually a normal application that just draws stuff, and starts after the kernel boot? And how does it draw it? Using OpenGL or is there something more generic? Hi, Sorry I can't find a question answering this, I'm almost certain someone else has raised it before. My problem is that I'm writing some system libraries to run embedded devices. I have commands which can be sent to these devices over radio broadcasts. This can only be done by text. inside the system libraries I have a thread which handles the commands which looks like this if (value.equals("A") { doCommandA() } else if (value.equals"B") { doCommandB() } else if etc. The problem is that there are a lot of commands to it will quickly spiral to something out of control. Horrible to look out, painful to debug and mind boggling to understand in a few months time.

Uninterrupted mp3 play on a website?

Client is requesting a single track to be heard across the website. Generally I advise against it, but they insist. So, what is the most straightforward way of having a flash player embedded in a site, and when a user goes to another page there isn't a gap/interruption? I am thinking an iframe is required.. I am using a flash player that has autoresume, but that only solves picking up where you last left off on the song before going to another page. I tried searching SO for an answer..

Lubuntu 13.10 unable to connect to cups localhost:631

I am using Lubuntu 13.10 (recently upgraded) and am trying to print to a network printer (HP photosmart 7960) through my router (US Robotics 5461). My printer is connected to the router via USB cable. Normally, I would use the cups configuration interface to set up the wireless connection to the printer. I was able to use the printer through the router wirelessly, using Ubuntu 12.04. Now, with my recently upgraded Lubuntu 13.10, I am unable to get the Cups config webpage (http://localhost:631) to come up. In Chromium, I get: This web page is not available. In Firefox, I get: Unable to connect. Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:631. The CUPS config file details are below. How to Customize Fonts and Colors for Gnome Panels in Ubuntu Linux

Earlier this week we showed you how to make the Gnome Panels totally transparent, but you really need some customized fonts and colors to make the effect work better. Here’s how to do it. This article is the first part of a multi-part series on how to customize the Ubuntu desktop, written by How-To Geek reader and ubergeek, Omar Hafiz. Changing the Gnome Colors the Easy Way You’ll first need to install Gnome Color Chooser which is available in the default repositories (the package name is gnome-color-chooser). Then go to System > Preferences > Gnome Color Chooser to launch the program. When you see all these tabs you immediately know that Gnome Color Chooser does not only change the font color of the panel, but also the color of the fonts all over Ubuntu, desktop icons, and many other things as well. Now switch to the panel tab, here you can control every thing about your panels. You can change font, font color, background and background color of the panels and start menus. Tick the “Normal” option and choose the color you want for the panel font. If you want you can change the hover color of the buttons on the panel by too. A little below the color option is the font options, this includes the font, font size, and the X and Y positioning of the font. The first two options are pretty straight forward, they change the typeface and the size. The X-Padding and Y-Padding may confuse you but they are interesting, they may give a nice look for your panels by increasing the space between items on your panel like this: X-Padding: Y-Padding: The bottom half of the window controls the look of your start menus which is the Applications, Places, and Systems menus. You can customize them just the way you did with the panel. Alright, this was the easy way to change the font of your panels. Changing the Gnome Theme Colors the Command-Line Way The other hard (not so hard really) way will be changing the configuration files that tell your panel how it should look like. In your Home Folder, press Ctrl+H to show the hidden files, now find the file “.gtkrc-2.0”, open it and insert this line in it. If there are any other lines in the file leave them intact. include “/home/<username>/.gnome2/panel-fontrc” Don’t forget to replace the <user_name> with you user account name. When done close and save the file. Now navigate the folder “.gnome2” from your Home Folder and create a new file and name it “panel-fontrc”. Open the file you just created with a text editor and paste the following in it: style “my_color”{fg[NORMAL] = “#FF0000”}widget “*PanelWidget*” style “my_color”widget “*PanelApplet*” style “my_color” This text will make the font red. If you want other colors you’ll need to replace the Hex value/HTML Notation (in this case #FF0000) with the value of the color you want. To get the hex value you can use GIMP, Gcolor2 witch is available in the default repositories or you can right-click on your panel > Properties > Background tab then click to choose the color you want and copy the Hex value. Don’t change any other thing in the text. When done, save and close. Now press Alt+F2 and enter “killall gnome-panel” to force it to restart or you can log out and login again. Most of you will prefer the first way of changing the font and color for it’s ease of applying and because it gives you much more options but, some may not have the ability/will to download and install a new program on their machine or have reasons of their own for not to using it, that’s why we provided the two way. Repeated disconnects on WPA PEAP network

My school has a WPA PEAP network with GTC inner authentication. I am able to connect to the network, but once I load a website or two, the network become unresponsive (i.e. in Chromium, it gets stuck at "Sending request"), and I'm eventually disconnected.
