• Close button during modal sheet

  In Objective C (Cocoa) I have an app running with a modal sheet, but I want to allow the app to quit even when the sheet is displayed (contradicting the definition of modal I think, but I like the animated effect of modal sheets). I'm already using the -setPreventsApplicationTerminationWhenModal method and it works fine, but I'm wondering... is there any way to keep the close button enabled? The little circle usually red-colored close button that comes with all windows in the top left corner (side by side with minimize and maximize)? Right now it's completely disabled when the sheet is running, and it would be awesome if there is a way to enable it. Thanks!

• Test whether image loaded correctly with JavaScript

  I have an image deployed on several application servers (green up arrow: uparrow.gif). I have an application server status page where I list out all the servers and with a corresponding image where the image's source is the uparrow.gif for that server. If the image does not load (server down) I would like to switch to a red down arrow (downarrow.gif). Is there a way to check whether an image loaded or not with straight JavaScript (no JS libraries etc)? I would imagine I would set an interval for it to continue checking if the user were on the page. Thanks.

  Hi, Accidently I created this nice colored effect on my LaTeX TOC: http://i43.tinypic.com/o5aptl.png Which I like and want to keep, I created this effect like this: \definecolor{Section1}{rgb}{0.09,0.21,0.36} \section{\color{Section1}Introdução} However, as you can see on the TOC sidebar, there was a nasty side effect. I tried to fix it like this: \section[Introdução]{\color{Section1}Introdução} But didn't work, the sidebar TOC was fixed but on the TOC list, the blue color was gone and was now red instead (default for clickable TOC heading links) I also tried: {\color{Section1}\section{Introdução}} But the effect was the same, fixed TOC but no color on the TOC list. Any suggestions?

• Virtual dedicated server repetitive draining RAM, OOM constantly

  My linux (fedora red hat 7) virtual dedicated server has been experiencing OOM multiple times a day for the past several days. I thought the issue was with spamd/spamassassin but after disabling this the errors remains. • How do you diagnose a 500 error on Heroku when there is no error message in the logs?

  I have a Rails app on Heroku that is serving 500 errors at random intervals. Web pages will display "Internal server error" in plain text, instead of the usual "We're sorry. Something went wrong." page. When I refresh the page, it works fine. • Redmine connecting to SVN through SSL

  I am having trouble connecting Redmine to a locally hosted subversion repository using SSL. I suspect it's the self-signed certificate that usually triggers a warning in the SVN client and browser. When I try to connect to the local repo through SSL in Redmine, I get a red "Revision not available" error. When I try connecting through svn://, the connection times out, and I have to restart the web server. Connecting without SSL works without problems. It would be nice to run subversion on SSL to make it safely accessible from the outside as well. I could run the repository through plain HTTP but would like SSL for outside communication. As far as I understand, subversion can't be run both ways at the same time. Does anybody know what to do in such a situation? Is there a configuration setting to ignore invalid certificates somewhere?

  Right now I am planning to add a filter system to my site. Examples: (ID=apple, COLOR=red, TASTE=sweet, ORIGIN=US) (ID=mango, COLOR=yellow, TASTE=sweet, ORIGIN=MEXICO) (ID=banana, COLOR=yellow, TASTE=bitter-sweet, ORIGIN=US) so now I am interested in doing the following: SELECT ID FROM thisTable WHERE COLOR='yellow' AND TASTE='SWEET' But my problem is I am doing this for multiple categories in my site, and the columns are NOT consistent. (like if the table is for handphones, then it will be BRAND, 3G-ENABLED, PRICE, COLOR, WAVELENGTH, etc) how could I design a general schema that allows this? Right now I am planning on doing: table(ID, KEY, VALUE) This allows arbitary number of columns, but for the query, I am using SELECT ID FROM table WHERE (KEY=X1 AND VALUE=V1) AND (KEY=X2 AND VALUE=V2), .. which returns an empty set. Can someone recommend a good solution to this? Note that the number of columns WILL change regularly

• Why Am I Getting MySQL Error #1312 when Using a Simple Stored Procedure?

  Hi, I'm trying to learn how to use MySQL stored procedures. MySQL accepted my procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE SimpleProc() BEGIN SELECT * FROM myTable; END (In phpMyAdmin, I set // for delimiter. The real version has the name of an actual table instead of myTable.). But, when I call the procedure with CALL SimpleProc();, I get error "#1312 - PROCEDURE mydb.SimpleProc can't return a result set in the given context". I read that some versions of php or phpMyAdmin won't work with stored procedures. I'm using a localhost running on a Mac with MAMP 1.9. I've got MySQL 5.1.44, PHP 5.2.13 & 5.3.2, phpMyAdmin 3.2.5. • Best way to auto-restore db on an houlry basis

  Hello, I have a demo site where anyone can login and test a management interface. Every hour I would like to flush all the data in the SQL 2008 Database and restore it from the original. Rae Gate sql has some awesome tools for this, however they are beyond my budget right now. Could I simply make a backup copy of the database's data file, then have a c# console app that deletes it and copies over the original. Then I can have a windows schedule task to run the .exe every hour. It's simple and free... would this work? I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Web edition I understand that red gate is technically better because I can set it to analyze the db and only update the records that were altered, and the approach I have above is like a "sledge hammer".

  Hi All, I'm currently trying to create a page for users to select two points from a range, using a slide control. The first point in the range is when an alert will be sent to the user, the second point is a max limit. What I would like to do is have the bar colored green from the 0 point to the first slider point, then orange between the two sliders, and lastly red from the second slider up to the other end of the bar. Does anyone know of an easy was I can do this or of a slider control that can be skinned to do this?

• Why does my JButton look differently of different computers?

  I use JButtons in my application. They need to have different colors. First I used that btn.setBackground(col);. It works on my computer and on another computer my button just gray (not red, as it's supposed to be). Trying to solve this problem I decided to use images. I do it in the following way: tmp = new JButton(newIcon); Again, it works fine on my computer and on another computer I see just gray buttons. Does anybody have any ideas what can be the reason of the problem and how it can be solved? I heard it can be related to "look-and-feel of the native system". But I do not know what it means and what should I do if it is the case? Can anybody pleas, help me with that?

  It isn't so interesting to find out what this text editor here or that IRC client there was programmed with, also it isn't really hard and neither are there really suprising things to come out. Wow so it was programmed in Python, I didn't expect that. What I'm asking is: What are the things that we daily see, use or generally need programmed with? To name a few (really only a few of those out there): My alarm clock It has many features so it would probably be hard programming it with assembler or whatever, so did they probably use a programming language? If yes, which? My electrical tooth brush The (stupid) board computer of my car. (6 years old, has few features but a red LED display showing me how cold/warm it is outside and how much gas I'm using up per hour at the moment) Those (old) plastic mini-mini computers with the LCD(?) displays that only had one game available on them: PacMan, tetris or so. I'm not directly thinking of this but it may be similar: Other, probably more interesting, things I didn't mention

• Setting a breakpoint in a T4 template

  I'm trying to debug the execution of a T4 template in Visual Studio 2008. All the information I'm finding on debugging T4 templates in Visual Studio 2008 say that you can set a breakpoint (red dot) in the template as if it were a regular code file. I have the Clarius T4 code highlighter installed, so my T4 template is colored, but I can't set a breakpoint. When I click in the margin nothing happens. I've tried Debugger.Break(), and it launches a new instance of VS.NET, but it can't load the code from my template. I get a dialog that says "There is no source code available for the current location." This happens if I have the same project loaded in the another instance of if I spin up a new instance. What gives?

  In Java, you can make an enum having multiples values. In objective-C, this cannot be done easily. I've read many pages about this but I didn't found anything satisfying that would allow me to use enums by a simple way and to keep the enum declaration and their different values in the same file. When I resize the Form of my Device, the Draw method is still called, but doesnt throw an Exception, it looks like this: device.Clear(ClearFlags.Target, Color.Red, 0, 0); device.BeginScene(); // here is out commented code device.EndScene(); device.Present(); In another method, I wrote this: renderToSurface.BeginScene(surfaces[currentIndex]); // here is out commented code renderToSurface.EndScene(Filter.None); and this method seems to throw a nullpointer exception when I resize the window; So my question is: - where to reset / restore / handle the renderToSurface class? • Eclipse Problems View doesn't show Errors

  [Note: There is another thread about this problem but it did not answer the question.] For one specific project in Eclipse, the problems view does not show errors. It shows warnings but it does not show errors. The other projects do show errors (and everything else). For that problematic project, I can see the red squiggly error line in the files. However, the directory structure does not show an error icon and the error is not populated in the Problems View. Any ideas?

I have to omit specifying columns which should be displayed under select statement. I would like to use there a *. I red that other sql-s have something like natural join and that is probably (or not?) an answer for my question. Unfortunately there is no join like that in SQL Server (2005). • Graphics/Bitmap Limits?

  Im having some weird problems with Graphics and Bitmap. I have a Graphics Object that is displayed on a PictureBox and im capturing the MouseMove and MouseClick Events that give X and Y Position of the Mouse on the Image but if the Y Position goes Bigger then 32775 it then goes into Negatives which means everything breaks. And if the Image is Bigger then 65535 it then stops displaying the Image. Any Ideas how these problems can be fixed? • How can I launch a missile?

  I am working on an open-source missile launcher application. I have added a big red button to a Form that says "Launch Missile". When I click the button, the event handler gets called. From the event handler I call a method named LaunchMissile(). So far so good, but how do you launch a missile from C# code? Will I have to write this code myself or is there an API or third party library for launching missiles? Please add sample code for various launch scenarios: orbit, moon, mars, etc.
