  • XML to XHTML - Best Method?

    Not wishing to be subjective but I have a need to get data from an XML source and convert it to (X)HTML. From my understanding I can do this with PHP (or other server-side scripts), Javascript, or XSLT. My feeling is that it would be more appropriate to use XSLT as it is dealing with an XML source and this is the purpose for which XSLT exists. I also see it having the advantage that it will still work if the user doesn't have Javascript enabled and wont be restricted to a server which runs PHP (or other server-side script). Am I right in my assumptions? Also could the same be same for an RSS feed? Thanks

  • Embed external website inside a page

    I'd like to load something from website B into a page on website A and contain the functionality of website B within a container on website A. I tried doing this using a div and jQuery's load() method but I run into cross-domain-scripting issues (I think, it works with a local file but not a remote URL). I also tried using an iframe but strange things happen (for example, when a link is clicked in the "contained" website B, it reloads the entire browser, losing the content of website A). I've read about some server-side ways of handling this (and it may just come to that) but ideally I want something completely client side, JavaScript and HTML. Any ideas?

  • WPF DropShadowEffect in ListBox

    Hi, Basically, I have a listbox which contains a set of listboxitem (stacked horizontally). On selected listboxitem, there will be dropshadoweffect applied to the border of the listboxitem. The problem i am having at the moment is the dropshadopeffect on the left hand side is covering (on top of) the left listboxitem. This is fine for me, however the dropshadoweffect on the right hand side of the listboxitem is covered by (below) the right listboxitem. Is there a way to make them consistent? so that both sides' dropshadoweffect will appear on top of the left and right listboxitems. Please let me know if you need more information. Any help would be appreciated.

    I have one user who gets the following error when trying to login, "Silverlight client load operation failed for query "Login". [GenericParameterNotValid]". The odd thing is that other users are able to login without issue and I can login using the "problem" account from other machines. At this point I think it's got to be a client side configuration issue. My next step is to confirm the Client Side Silverlight Version, but I don't know where to go after that. Do you have any suggestions?

  • RTL shows numbers at the end of lines

    Hi. Trying to display a hebrew string that starts with a number, always displays the number at the end of the string like so: 1. ??? ???? ????? but I need the number to be displayed at the right side of the text- any solution to that? It happens with UILabel & UITextField & UITextView and trying to write the number at the left side also produce the same resault. Playing with combinations of UITextAlignment will doesn't help.

    I have a problem using the Logical OR operator in C++. The problem is coming that the right-side expression is not evaluated if the left-side is true. I have two deque-s and I need to popLeft from them with a while, but if I can pop from the first deque, I don't pop from the second because is not evaluated, by the OR operator. How can I overcome this problem.   • Can I modify an ASP.NET AJAX History Point?

    I'm using ASP.NET 3.5 with AJAX and have enabled history on the Script Manager. I have 2 pages, Default.aspx and Default2.aspx. I'm using the AJAX History on the Default.aspx page and saving history points on the server-side. There are some dropdowns on Default.aspx that I don't want to save a history point for each change but would like to save the latest state so that when I click on a link on Default.aspx that navigates to Default2.aspx, when I click the back button on Default2.aspx to return I want the dropdowns to reflect what they were prior to clicking on the hyperlink. So what I'd like to do is modify the history point that I originally set on one of my ajax async postbacks on the client-side before the page navigates away to Default2.aspx. There is a location.hash javascript property that looks like it may do what I want but when I modify the value the Script Manager Navigate event is firing. Is there a way to prevent this event from firing? And would this then do the job?

  • How to correctly migrate urls from custom asp.net solution to Wordpress?

    I have a web site built using asp.net with ugly URLs like /DisplayContent.aspx?id=789564. I know how to migrate the database, but the Wordpress urls will be (naturally) different. Can I simply write some mapping or do I have to include a rewrite rule for each subpage (300 pages) in .htaccess? Should I provide a rewrite rule for each existing page that would transform a full old url to the known new url, like for example: /DisplayContent.aspx?id=789798 -> /2010-5-10/Title-Of-The-Post Even if I manage to migrate the URLs, the structure of the HTML for the new content will naturally be different. How does this affect SEO? Should I run asp.net and wordpress side by side and issue the redirects from the asp.net application? What is the most efficient solution to this kind of migration of URLs without doing PHP programming?

    Please see the two long linklabels below (please ignore the black lines above) Linklabels' length is made dynamically during runtime, and as seen, could be that it's too long and overlapping other text we have (there is another text where you see 'Differences'). My questions are: a) Can I limit the maximum length of a linklabel? b) Is that possible to use a scrollbar with a linklabel (or any similar control) in case that it's too long? e.g. setting it to 200 pixels, and in case it's longer, the user has to scroll the horizontal scroller and see end of the text.     HI, I am deploying a VB6 application on client machine. The Application need to access code from a C#.NET dll. I created a COM object of the .NET dll and used it VB 6 using the side by side versioning (Registration free COM). It is running fine on the development machine but on the client machine it is throwing an error "ActiveX Component cannot create Object" I created two manifest files one for the VB application and the other one for the C# application. I embedded the C# manifest file in the C#.NET dll through visual studio 2008. Am I missing some step. Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

I have made a program that inputs three sides of a triangle and outputs whether or not they are isosceles, scalene, or equilateral.     There is a text file containing words with 1 space between each of them. And there is also a command line entry that gives the length of line (output) wanted. Output will be words that fit into the length of the line (taken from command line). Also the first word will be on the left side of the line and the last word will be right side of it. The spaces between each word will be same. Any help will be appreciated thanks for replying.

  • How do you know how much space an NSString (using default font) will occupy on a UITableView section

    Basically I want to copy the behavior in iPhone's Calendar where the day of week (Mon, Tue, Wed) is on the left side of the table's section header (left justified) while the formatted date (Apr 1, 2010, May 1, 2010) based on locale is on the right side of the table's section header (right justified). I was thinking of inserting a variable amount of space in between the day of week and formatted date but I first need to know the actual space consumed by the text on both sides to figure out how much space to add.   • Unwanted Retriggering of Textbox Events

    This is one of those "seems obvious" as how to do, but came across interesting side effect in implementing. I'm trying to keep two text boxes syncronized when information is updated. In this example, I will be using txtStartDate and txtEndDate. If the txtStartDate is changed, then the txtEndDate should should be updated. Likewise, if the txtEndDate changes, I want the txtSartDate to be updated. The side effect I'm comming across is that when I set them up under the TextChanged event for both, the events seem to retrigger against each other indefinately (endless loop?). Am I using the wrong event? Is this a task for a delegate?

    I have a subdomain m.example.com that I want to point to the same location as example.com/mobile running on an apache2/django1.3 installation. example.com is the landing page, and I have the urls.py configured such that urls that match /^mobile$/ will be served the mobile version of the page. I looked into <VirtualHost>, but I think it requires a physical location for me to point m.example.com at and with the django urls there is no physical location except for the root of the project directory. I am unsure if the configuration change is made on the apache side or the django side. I've also looked into the mod_rewrite module for Apache, but I would prefer if I didnt have to redirect m.example.com to example.com/mobile

    I'm currently planning a piece of software for dogbreeders and I'm in doubt about my datadesign...whether I'm doing something smart or stupid :) The plan at the moment is one holistic "dog" table sorta like this... I can see a quick lookup reason to have it but I'm really in doubt whether it's good or bad in the end. I thinking it would be better designed if I had a rel-table on the side with Id coupling, but I'm really in doubt how well any of the cases are. A side note is that it'll only be me personally looking at the data this way (or someone adopting the project from me)

I'm just implementing a simple animation moving a div left or up using animate() but I would like to be able to set the "top" and "left" css properties dynamically. I would like to use the same function rather than have to have two, one for "left" and one for "top".
