• Prevent Word from Reformatting my HTML

  I have an HTML page that needs to open in word. I created the document in word and saved the document as an HTML document. So word spits out all its nasty HTML syntax. This is the opened through internet explorer which will display the word document within the browser. When I view the page word modifies some of the tags. More specifically it adds a Width and Height tag and ignores the width and height within the style tag. If I try setting the Width and Height tags it overrides with new values. I have tested on different environments and get different results as word makes decision how to handle. A bit of background this img starts off as this, and is rendered via data rendering syntax. <asp:Image id="as" runat="server" Src"<%# ImgSource %>" style="width:178px;height:130px" /> It ends up like this in word <img width=32 height=32 id=barCodeImage src="http://myurl/BarcodeImages/1136574_129180418198008169.png" style='border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-width:0px;border-right-width:0px; border-top-width:0px;height:130px;width:178px'> I want to stop word from reformatting the HTML.

  Hi, This may be a silly question, but as someone relatively new to PHP, I'm wondering if there are any performance-related issues to frequently opening and closing PHP tags in HTML template code, and if so, what might be best practices in terms of working with php tags? My question is not about the importance/correctness of closing tags, or about which type of code is more readable than another, but rather about how the document gets parsed/executed and what impact it might have on performance. • Security considerations processing emails

  I have process that will be reading emails from an account. The objective of the process is saving to a database those emails with image(s) as attachments. I will be saving sender, subject body and image path (the image will be saved on the process). I will be showing this information on a page so I would like to know all (or most of them :) ) security aspects to cover. I plan to sanitize the subject and body of the email. I can remove most of the tags, probably it would be enough keeping the <p> tag. I'm not sure if I can trust just in a sanitizer. I would like to HTML encode everything except for the <p> tag after sanitize, just in case. Any suggestion? I'm only accepting images as attachment as I said above, any security risk I have to take into account in relation to the attachment? Thanks!

• Proper Memory Management for Objective-C Method

  Hi, I'm programming an iPhone app and I had a question about memory management in one of my methods. I'm still a little new to managing memory manually, so I'm sorry if this question seems elementary. Below is a method designed to allow a number pad to place buttons in a label based on their tag, this way I don't need to make a method for each button. The method works fine, I'm just wondering if I'm responsible for releasing any of the variables I make in the function. The application crashes if I try to release any of the variables, so I'm a little confused about my responsibility regarding memory.   I have a string. That string is a html code and it serves as a teaser for the blog posts I am creating. The whole html code (teaser) is stored in a field in the database. My goal: I'd like to make that when a user (facebook like social button) likes certain blog post, right data is displayed on his news feeds. In order to do that I need to extract from the teaser in the first occurrence of an image an image path inside src="i-m-a-g-e--p-a-t-h". I succeeded when a user puts only one image in teaser, but if he accidentally puts two images or more the whole thing craches. Furthermore, for description field I need to extract text inside the first occurrence inside <p> tag. The problem is also that a user can put an image inside the first tag. I would very much appreciate if an expert could help me resolve this what's been bugging me for days. • Android Socket Connection

  I'm guessing this will be such a newbee question but I hit a wall and... I am running the jWebSocket (http://jwebsocket.org) stand-alone server. For a client I am using Weberknecht (http://code.google.com/p/weberknecht/) And Eclipse is my IDE of choice. Now, when I start the server and run the Weberknecht client like a normal Java application I get a connection. Granted, the connection is quickly dropped because the handshake needs to be configured but at least the server shows me a connection was attempted. However, when I use the exact same code in my hello world Android app I get nothing :( I am also not seeing any console outputs even thought I used both Log.i and Log.v Log.i(TAG, "YEI! connectToWS 1!"); Log.v(TAG, "YEI! connectToWS 1!"); Maybe I am calling the connect method in the wrong place? @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); connectToWS(); ... • Loading more than 10 images on iPhone??

  I'm trying to add more than 10 pictures on ScrollView. But if the variable 'i' is bigger than 10, 'UIImage *image' is empty. The imageName seems to correct. But I don't know why it does not load image. Does anybody sees the problem?? And one more thing. If I do like that, does iOS controls memory automatically? I mean it's kind of wasting memory if all (more than 10) images are loaded on memory even they are not displayed. I've heard that iOS loads images only displayed on screen and free images those are not displayed. Is that right? Thanks for reading.

• Refer to a Spark view component in code

  I'm building a mobile AIR app using Flash Builder 4.5. The initial view in my views package is TestHomeView.mxml. I want to refer to it in one of my .as classes elsewhere in the app, and I'm not sure how to do that. Theoretically I should be able to add an "id" attribute to TestHomeView.mxml, but FB gives me an error: "id is not allowed on the root tag of a component". The root tag is s:view. The reason I need to do this is that within another class I make various calculations and then need to pass an array of values to a component in my view class. So in SomeOtherActionScriptClass.as I first assemble the array, myArray, and then in that class I want to do this: myViewComponent.viewArray = myArray; If I'm going to do that, I also need to import the view class into the .as class, which strikes me as weird. So is there a simple way to do what I want, or do I have to dispatch a custom event which contains the array, and listen for it in the view class? Thanks.

• jQuery code not executing when DOM is ready

  I have written a simple jQuery script that changes the hash tag of a link. I do this because I am using IntenseDebate comments in Wordpress but the comment link still links replaced id of the old comments. I'm using jQuery so that if javascript is enabled, the user can click on the comments link and it will take them to the IntenseDebate comments. If its not enabled it will take them to the traditional comments (because IntenseDebate requires javascript to function). The issue I'm having lies in this script to change the hash tag at the end of the link. Currently the URL "someurl.com/#respond" but I need the script to change it to "someurl.com/#comments". What is happening is that the script doesn't work, however I believe my syntax is correct so I decided to try copying and pasting the code into Firebug's console and the code executed perfectly. I could see that the link I was trying to change was now correct, and I could click on it and it worked as I desired. So what I don't understand is why the code is not executing when it is supposed to. I am using $(document).ready() and I have other jQuery on the page that executes just fine. I even tested it on a simple HTML page away from all the problems that might be caused by Wordpress and I received the same result. Does anyone know why this might be happening? • How to load two divs into separate targets with JQuery?

  Hi all, I'm trying to achieve two things, both of which I fail to get at. On a server are a series of notes; all contain a div (id=ajxContent). Some notes also contain an additiona div (id=ajxHead). The ajxContent itself contains links (class=clicking) to call the next installment, hence the link destination in a variable. This is my code: $(document).ready(function(){ $( 'a.clicking' ).live('click', function(e){ e.preventDefault(); var theLink = $(this).attr('href'); $('#loadText').load(theLink + '#ajxContent'); $('h1').load(theLink + '#ajxHead'); }); }) Where it fails: 1) the ajxContent gets loaded into the h1 tag as well as in its intended target. 2) when I had set up the code differently, if there was no div id=ajxHead present in a note, the load would nevertheless erase the existing value in the h1 tag. Am I on a totally wrong track here, with two load statements? Input is very welcome, thanks.

  I'm parsing (a lot of) XML files that contain entity references which i dont know in advance (can't change that fact). For example: xml = "<tag>I'm content with &funny; &entity; &references;.</tag>" when i try to parse this using the following code: final DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); final DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); final InputSource is = new InputSource(new StringReader(xml)); final Document d = db.parse(is); i get the following exception: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The entity "funny" was referenced, but not declared. but, what i do want to achieve is, that the parser replaces every entity that is not declared (unknown to the parser) with an empty String ''. How to do this with NSXMLParser ? I currently use BOOL ivar's but this is a lot of tags and this is not as elegant as i want it to be. I know that NSXMLParser is a SAX parser and i understand that. In above example I will be enter to didEndElement method three times with: elementName equal value Is there a more elegant way to distinguish what entry was from <component> tag above what not?

• Django templatetag "order of processing"

  I am trying to write a set of template tags that allow you to easily specify js and css files from within the template files themselves. Something along the lines of {% requires global.css %}, and later in the request, {% get_required_css %}. I have this mostly working, but there are a couple of issues. We'll start with the 'timing' issues. Each template tag is made up of two steps, call/init and render. Every call/init happens before any render procedure is called. In order to guarantee that all of the files are queued before the {% get_required_css %} is rendered, I need to build my list of required files in the call/init procedures themselves. So, I need to collect all of the files into one bundle per request. The context dict is obviously the place for this, but unfortunately, the call/init doesn't have access to the context variable. Is this making sense? Anyone see a way around this (without resorting to a hack-y global request object)? Another possibility to store these in a local dict but they would still need to be tied to the request somehow... possibly some sort of {% start_requires %} tag? But I have no clue how to make that work either.

  I have successfully set up this plugin before so I am curious as to what I am doing wrong here. I have built the ability for users to add tags to questions. I am not using tagging plugin here but that shouldn't matter for this. With respect to the auto complete, I am trying to have the form located in the /views/questions/show.html.erb file access the Tags table and display entries in the tags.tags_name column. When I begin to type in the field I get the following error message: Processing QuestionsController#show (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-05-31 15:22:20) [GET] Parameters: {"tag"=>{"tag_name"=>"a"}, "id"=>"auto_complete_for_tag_tag_name"} Question Load (0.1ms) SELECT * FROM "questions" WHERE ("questions"."id" = 0) ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound (Couldn't find Question with ID=auto_complete_for_tag_tag_name): app/controllers/application_controller.rb:15:in `init_data' For some reason I am actually passing the field name as the Question.id. The plugin set up is fairly simple as you add the following line to your controller: auto_complete_for :tag, :tag_name and the following line in your routes.rb file: map.resources :tags, :collection => {:auto_complete_for_tag_tag_name => :get } I have added the controller line to both my tags and questions controller and also mapped resources for both tags and questions in my routes.rb file: map.resources :tags, :collection => {:auto_complete_for_tag_tag_name => :get } map.resources :questions, :collection => {:auto_complete_for_tag_tag_name => :get } I have played around with removing either or of the above but can't seem to fix it. Any ideas what I am doing wrong here?

• Need some advice on MVC separation..

  I should note I am using Zend Framework. Although this shouldn't affect the concrete answer, it does mean there are several places I can implement my following method (action helper, controller etc). The issue is I have buildOptions() and parseOptions() method which takes $_GET/$_POST variables based on a 'tag' and builds rules which are then used in a select query. An example would be ?modelSort=id&modelOrder=asc The 'model' in the above obviously relates to the particular model, and it used as a 'tag' so that I can for example also have model2Sort and model2Order so there is no conflict between parameters. However, the trouble I am having now is where should these methods go? They are generally dealing with request params. I have been reading a lot about fat model, thin controller. Should this be in an abstract model. My thinking was that if it were, I would do something like: (note, I know I wouldn't call directly like this. Method would be used by child classes) $abstractModel-buildOptions($params); Where 'params' could be anything, like the request parameters $_GET or $_POST: $abstractModel-buildOptions($_GET); Now from what I can see the model is not inherintly dealing with request variables but rather parameters passed to the method. Advice? Where does this method belong? Model, Controller? Specifically on Zend, should it be an action helper, plugin, within an abstract model? Appreciate any advice.

• WordPress update_post_meta values. Delete when empty or just test for ""?

  My function below, will take the values from my custom meta fields (after a post has been edited, and save or publish has been clicked) and update or insert the posted meta values. However, if the user leaves this field blank, I believe I want to delete the meta altogether (so I can test for its presence and display accordingly vs just checking for ""). For example, one of my meta options gives the user the ability to add a Custom title to their post, which when present, will populate the page's tag. However, if the field is left empty, I want to default the tag to the_title(), which is simply the Post title used to identify the page/post. Since I'm not deleting the meta on save, its always present after the first time a user enters something in there, get_post_meta($post-ID,'MyCustomTitle', true) is always true. Further, they cannot blank it out by clearing the title field and hitting publish. Let's say I need to provide a clean report about accesibility about my web page even the hack is senseless. • Add in integer to returned value with jQuery

  I have a page with a div id="videoFrame" that holds the video tag. The videos have variable heights so I have a function to grab the height value and plug it into the css of the div id="videoFrame like so: var videoHeight = $('video').attr('height'); $('#videoFrame').css('height',videoHeight+'px'); This works great. But here's the part driving me crazy. I have a p tag with disclaimers at the bottom of the div id="videoFrame". So I would like to add an additional 26px to the returned height. I tried: var videoHeight = $('video').attr('height'); var frameHeight = videoHeight + 26; $('#videoFrame').css('height',frameHeight+'px'); But as you would expect it is adding 26 to the end of the returned value. i.e. if returned value is 337 output for var frameHeight is 33726. I can not for the life of me figure out how to do this. Thanks in advance for any help

  I'm using a simple jquery code that grabs html code form a tag and then puts this content into a form input <td class="name_cat" ><span class="name_cat">It&#039;s a &quot;test&quot; </span> (5)</td> jquery gets the content into span.name_catand returns it as It's a "test". So when I print this into an input it becomes <input value="It's a "test"" /> which as you can imagine will only show as It's a , the following double quote will close the value tag. What's the trick here to keep the original string while not showing utf8 code in the input? • How to run a javascript function before postback of asp.net button?

  I'm using Javascript to create a DIV element and open up a new page by using onclientclick. This works great. Now, I need to write to it from the server side and this element must be created before it is posted back. How do I get the javascript to execute before the postback? Currently, I have to press the button twice because the element doesn't exist to write too on the first click. To be clear, I need this to execute before the "OnClick" of the button. Update: It looks like the Javascript function is called before the postback but the element is not updated until I run the second postback. Hmm Update: Unfortunately it is a bit more complicated then this. I'm creating a div tag in javascript to open a new window. Inside the div tag, I'm using a databinding syntax <%=Preview% so that I can get access to this element on the server side. From the server side, I'm injecting the code. I'm thinking this may be a chicken-egg problem but not sure. UPDATE! It is not the Javascript not running first. It is the databinding mechanism which is reading the blank variable before I'm able to set it. Hmm
