  • Outpost Firewall asks every time one specific application tries to access to network

    One of installed applications on my PC tries to send UDP packed. Outpost warns me about this. I say that Outpost should allow all activity for this application. But next time application wants to send UDP packed Outpost asks me again and again the same question. There is no problems with other applications but with this only. Is it possible to resolve such behavior or is it known bug? Thanks! I have installed Outpost Firewall Pro 2009 Version 6.5.3 (2518.381.0686)

  • start .net application from start menu search

    bla.exe (application alias) points to a .net application called wpfapp1.exe. When i add a key&value to eg. this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\bla.exe and then start application using Run - bla.exe it starts however when i start application using windows search i get an "windows cannot find wpfapp1.exe. make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I have successfully identified problem: this error only occurs to .net applications while native one start normally (eg. firefox.exe). So is there any .net config that i've missed during development?

  • Architecture for new ASP.NET web application

    I'm maintaining an application which currently is just a web service (built with WCF) and a database backend. The web service is built in layers with a linq-to-sql data access part with core functionality in an own assembly and on top of that the web service assembly which contains the WCF code. The core assembly also handles all business logic rules (very few actually). The customer now wants a Web interface for the application instead of just accessing it through other applications which are consuming the web service. I'm quite lost on modern web application design, so I would like some advice on what architecture and frameworks to use for the web application. The web application will be using the same core assembly with business rules and the linq-to-sql data access layer as the web service. Some concepts I've thought about are: ASP.NET MVC Webforms AJAX controls - possibly leting the AJAX controls access the existing web service through JSON. Are there any more concepts I should look into? Which one is the best for a fresh project? The development tools are Visual Studio 2008 Team Edition for Developers targeting .NET 3.5. An upgrade to Visual Studio 2010 Premium (or maybe even Ultimate) is possible if it gives any benefits.

  • What is the effect of running an application with "Unlimited Stack" size

    Hello All, I have inherited some code that I need to maintain that can be less than stable at times. The previous people are no longer available to query as to why they ran the application in an environment with unlimited stack set, I am curious what the effects of this could be? The application seems to have some unpredictable memory bugs that we cannot find and running the application under valgrind is not an option because it slows the application down so much that we cannot actually run it. So any thoughts on what the effects of this might be are appreciated. Thank you.

    With the new Silverlight 5, we can now have a In-Browser elevated-trust application. However, I'm experiencing some problems to deploy the application. When I am testing the application from Visual Studio, everything works fine because it automatically gives every right if the website is hosted on the local machine (localhost, 127.0.0.1). I saw on MSDN that I have to follow 3 steps to make it work on any website: Signed the XAP - I did it following the Microsoft tutorial Install the Trusted publishers certificate store - I did it too following the Microsoft Tutorial Adding a Registry key with the value : AllowElevatedTrustAppsInBrowser. The third step is the one I am the most unsure about. Do we need to add this registry key on the local machine or on the server ? Is there any automatic function in silverlight to add this key or its better to make a batchfile? Even with those 3 steps, the application is still not working when called from another url than localhost. Does anybody has successfully implemented a In-browser elevated-trust application? Do you see what I'm doing wrong? Thank you very much!   • Java application crashes on startup in citrix session

    Hello We have a java application published through citrix. When application is launched for a new user, it crashes immediately on startup. If we login using RDP, then log out (not starting the app), it starts to work. We've published another smaller java app, and it works for new users, without the need to first log on using RDP. Steps: - Publish java app - create new user - run published app in citrix -> crash - log on user using rdp, log out - run published app in citrix -> works fine Its becoming real tiresom to log on each new user to each citrix server :-P

    Howdy, I followed these two tutorial to get Client Application services working using WCF instead of the traditional web services project: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb398990.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb546195.aspx But when configuring the winforms project services tab with the wcf services location, the generated code in app.config points to a "Authentication_JSON_AppService.axd" service uri that doesn't exist. How can I use Client Application Services using WCF as the "transport" and still use the services tab to configure the settings on the client windows application? Thanks

    Hi, This is a hypothetical question. If one would develop an iPhone/iPad (Universal) odds application, whould apple allow this to the appstore? This application would not let you bet on odds directly, but would collect odds from different odds sites and show them to the user.     My application has recently started throwing NoClassDefFoundError errors when I am running my application from within NetBeans. It never used to do this. And when I run this outside of NetBeans using the command line argument that it provides once built, these errors are not produced Is this a bug with Netbeans?     My application requires the user to enter their business name, which the application will automatically create into a unique identifier to be used in URLs, ie "Bob's Cafe" will become "bobs-cafe" But if there are duplicate names I would like the application to add a number so if there is already a "bobs-cafe" we will use "bobs-cafe-1" and likewise if there is already a "bobs-cafe-1" we will use "bobs-cafe-2" Ive used explode and also looked at a regular expressions but I dont know the best way to approach this.   • Eclipse RCP Application Fails to launch second time

    I have an Eclipse RCP application that will launch properly after a clean install (right after build). The issue is that if I try to launch the application a second time the application throws an exception. I have narrowed the issue down to this file being created after the first run: ~install_dir/configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/.state Has anyone run into a similar issue where the .state file prevents the application from being launched anytime after that first run? I'm hesitant to look at the exception as this does not happen the first time, so I suspect org.eclipse.osgi is more to blame. The details of the exception are: "Error creating bean with name 'luceneRawQueryComposer' defined in class path resource [spring/dataaccess/daoCMClient.xml]: Cannot resolve reference to bean 'indexUtility' while setting bean property 'indexUtility'; NoSuchBeanDefinitionException

  • Looking for event management application

    Hello, I'm looking for a web-based event management application for managing events (or activities) on certain days that I setup. And then I want people to be able to sign up for them. I'm looking for something that can then be embedded in my website, similar to a Google Calendar. Then for a given event's day, I can click on it, see who's attending. Ideally, I wouldn't have to invite people to the event, but they can just sign up for it. I'm not looking to use something like Evite. This application is going to be used to manage a schedule of bike races, and who from my club will sign up for them. Thanks for any suggestions.

    I am trying to access an application that is hosted on port 80. When i try the url from my personal computer , the site is not reachable but the same url on the server( which hosts the application) i am able to access the site. When i disable the firewall then i am able to access the site from my pc. So there is some rule which is blocking this port. How do i determine what windows firewall rule is blocking this port. I have disables IIS as well. Kindly point me in the right direction

Now when I run the jar then my login page is displayed then i minimize the application and again run the jar then another instance of my application is displayed (means now in my system I have two login page. 1 is in minimized format and another is in normal state. But I want that if in my system login page is already running and is minimized then if i run the jar once again then it will not start as a new application rather it should maximize the earlier login page.
