  • appcfg.py upload_data entity kind problem

    - by Dingo
Hi, I am developing application on app-engine-path and I would like to upload some data to datastore. For example I have a model models/places.py: class Place(db.Model): name = db.StringProperty() longitude = db.FloatProperty() latitude = db.FloatProperty() If I save this in view, kind() of this entity is "models_place". All is ok, Place.all() in view work fine. But: If I upload some next row using appcfg.py upload_data, the kind() of this entities is Place. loader.py look like this: import datetime, os, sys from google.appengine.ext import db from google.appengine.tools import bulkloader libs_path = os.path.join("/home/martin/myproject/src/") if libs_path not in sys.path: sys.path.insert(0, libs_path) from models import places class AlbumLoader(bulkloader.Loader): def __init__(self): bulkloader.Loader.__init__(self, 'Place', [('name', lambda x: x.decode('utf-8')), ('longitude', float), ('latitude', float), ]) loaders = [AlbumLoader] and command for uploading: python /usr/local/google_appengine/appcfg.py upload_data --config_file=places_loader.py --kind=models_place --filename=data/places.csv --url=http://localhost:8000/remote_api /home/martin/myproject/src/

  • PDF Form Field Manipulation

    - by 108039818756939362532
I'm making a web interface to autofill pdf forms with user data from a database. The admin needs to be able to upload a pdf (right now targeted at IRS pdf forms) and then associate the fields in the pdf with data fields in the database. I need a way to help the admin associate the field names (stuff like "topmostSubform[0].Page2[0].p2-t66[0]") with the the data fields in the database. I'm looking for a way to modify the PDF programatically to in some way provide this information. Basically I'm open to suggestions on how I might make the field names appear in an obvious manner on a modified version of the original pdf. The closest I've gotten is being able to insert Tooltips into the fields in the pdf by just editting the raw pdf line by line. However when editting the pdf in this manner the field names are gibberish, and so I can't just use them. An optimal solution would be anything that could automatically parse a pdf and set each field's tooltip to be the fields name. Anything that can be run from the command line, or any python tool, or just a basic how to correctly parse a field's name from a raw pdf file would be amazing.

  • Creating form using Generic_inlineformset_factory from the Model Form

    - by Prateek
    hello dear all, I wanted to create a edit form with the help of ModelForm. and my models contain a Generic relation b/w classes, so if any one could suggest me the view and a bit of template for the purpose I would be very thankful, as I am new to the language. My models look like:- class Employee(Person): nickname = models.CharField(_('nickname'), max_length=25, null=True, blank=True) blood_type = models.CharField(_('blood group'), max_length=3, null=True, blank=True, choices=BLOOD_TYPE_CHOICES) marital_status = models.CharField(_('marital status'), max_length=1, null=True, blank=True, choices=MARITAL_STATUS_CHOICES) nationality = CountryField(_('nationality'), default='IN', null=True, blank=True) about = models.TextField(_('about'), blank=True, null=True) dependent = models.ManyToManyField(Dependent, through='DependentRelationship') pan_card_number = models.CharField(_('PAN card number'), max_length=50, blank=True, null=True) policy_number = models.CharField(_('policy number'), max_length=50, null=True, blank=True) # code specific details user = models.OneToOneField(User, blank=True, null=True, verbose_name=_('user')) class Person(models.Model): """Person model""" title = models.CharField(_('title'), max_length=20, null=True, blank=True) first_name = models.CharField(_('first name'), max_length=100) middle_name = models.CharField(_('middle name'), max_length=100, null=True, blank=True) last_name = models.CharField(_('last name'), max_length=100, null=True, blank=True) suffix = models.CharField(_('suffix'), max_length=20, null=True, blank=True) slug = models.SlugField(_('slug'), max_length=50, unique=True) class PhoneNumber(models.Model) : phone_number = generic.GenericRelation('PhoneNumber') email_address = generic.GenericRelation('EmailAddress') address = generic.GenericRelation('Address') date_of_birth = models.DateField(_('date of birth'), null=True, blank=True) gender = models.CharField(_('gender'), max_length=1, null=True, blank=True, choices=GENDER_CHOICES) content_type = models.ForeignKey(ContentType, If anyone could suggest me a link or so. it would be a great help........

  • Performing text processing on flatpage content to include handling of custom tag

    - by Dzejkob
Hi. I'm using flatpages app in my project to manage some html content. That content will include images, so I've made a ContentImage model allowing user to upload images using admin panel. The user should then be able to include those images in content of the flatpages. He can of course do that by manually typing image url into <img> tag, but that's not what I'm looking for. To make including images more convenient, I'm thinking about something like this: User edits an additional, let's say pre_content field of CustomFlatPage model (I'm using custom flatpage model already) instead of defining <img> tags directly, he uses a custom tag, something like [img=...] where ... is name of the ContentImage instance now the hardest part: before CustomFlatPage is saved, pre_content field is checked for all [img=...] occurences and they are processed like this: ContentImage model is searched if there's image instance with given name and if so, [img=...] is replaced with proper <img> tag. flatpage actual content is filled with processed pre_content and then flatpage is saved (pre_content is leaved unchanged, as edited by user) The part that I can't cope with is text processing. Should I use regular expressions? Apparently they can be slow for large strings. And how to organize logic? I assume it's rather algorithmic question, but I'm not familliar with text processing in Python enough, to do it myself. Can somebody give me any clues?

  • Replace textfields with dropdown select fields

    - by 47
I have three model classes that look as below: class Model(models.Model): model = models.CharField(max_length=20, blank=False) manufacturer = models.ForeignKey(Manufacturer) date_added = models.DateField(default=datetime.today) def __unicode__(self): name = ''+str(self.manufacturer)+" "+str(self.model) return name class Series(models.Model): series = models.CharField(max_length=20, blank=True, null=True) model = models.ForeignKey(Model) date_added = models.DateField(default=datetime.today) def __unicode__(self): name = str(self.model)+" "+str(self.series) return name class Manufacturer(models.Model): MANUFACTURER_POPULARITY_CHOICES = ( ('1', 'Primary'), ('2', 'Secondary'), ('3', 'Tertiary'), ) manufacturer = models.CharField(max_length=15, blank=False) date_added = models.DateField(default=datetime.today) manufacturer_popularity = models.CharField(max_length=1, choices=MANUFACTURER_POPULARITY_CHOICES) def __unicode__(self): return self.manufacturer I want to have the fields for model series and manufacturer represented as dropdowns instead of text fields. I have customized the model forms as below: class SeriesForm(ModelForm): series = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=Series.objects.all()) class Meta: model = Series exclude = ('model', 'date_added',) class ModelForm(ModelForm): model = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=Model.objects.all()) class Meta: model = Model exclude = ('manufacturer', 'date_added',) class ManufacturerForm(ModelForm): manufacturer = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=Manufacturer.objects.all()) class Meta: model = Manufacturer exclude = ('date_added',) However, the dropdowns are populated with the unicode in the respective class...how can I further customize this to get the end result I want? Also, how can I populate the forms with the correct data for editing? Currently only SeriesForm is populated. The starting point of all this is from another class whose declaration is as below: class CommonVehicle(models.Model): year = models.ForeignKey(Year) series = models.ForeignKey(Series) .... def __unicode__(self): name = ''+str(self.year)+" "+str(self.series) return name

  • Any good tutorials on using OAuth with Piston?

    - by Hank Gay
I've looked at the relevant section of the Piston documentation, but it only seems to focus on how to turn it on, not what it would look like for clients or how to test it to verify it's working. The example only seems to use HTTP Basic and curl. Finally, Ned Batchelder's question makes it look like a tutorial is in order. Thanks.

  • Installing PostGIS on Windows

    - by Cornflake
I've installed PostgreSQL and PostGIS, and now I'm trying to follow these instructions: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#spatialdb-template But I keep getting the following error, both in the command prompt and in Cygwin: C:\Users\Home>createdb -E UTF8 template_postgis createdb: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"? And I know PostgreSQL is running, because I'm using it right now! Installing open source applications can sometimes be so frustrating... I'll be very grateful for your help!

  • Valid Dates in AppEngine forms (Beginner)

    - by codingJoe
    In AppEngine, I have a form that prompts a user for a date. The problem is that when the clicks enter there is an error: "Enter a Valid Date" How do I make my Form accept (for example) %d-%b-%Y as the date format? Is there a more elegant way to accomplish this? # Model and Forms class Task(db.Model): name=db.StringProperty() due=db.DateProperty() class TaskForm(djangoforms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Task # my get function has the following. # using "now" for example. Could just as well be next Friday. tmStart = datetime.now() form = TaskForm(initial={'due': tmStart.strftime("%d-%b-%Y")}) template_values = {'form': form }

  • Flickr API automated login using Python library flickrapi

    - by Dave Aaron Smith
I have a web application that I want to sync with Flickr. I don't want the users to have to log into Flickr so I plan to use a single login. I believe I'll need to do something like this: import flickrapi flickr = flickrapi.FlickrAPI(myKey, mySecret) (token, frob) = flickr.get_token_part_one(perms='write', my_auth_callback) flickr.get_token_part_two((token, frob,)) flickr.what_have_you(... I don't know what my_auth_callback should look like though. I suspect it will have to post my login information to flickr. Could I do the get_token_part_one step just once manually perhaps and then re-use it in get_token_part_two?

  • Designing a Tag table that tells how many times it's used

    - by Satoru.Logic
Hi, all. I am trying to design a tagging system with a model like this: Tag: content = CharField creator = ForeignKey used = IntergerField It is a many-to-many relationship between tags and what's been tagged. Everytime I insert a record into the assotication table, Tag.used is incremented by one, and decremented by one in case of deletion. Tag.used is maintained because I want to speed up answering the question 'How many times this tag is used?'. However, this seems to slow insertion down obviously. Please tell me how to improve this design. Thanks in advance.

  • Apps with lable XYZ could not be found

    - by HWM-Rocker
Hello folks, today I ran into an error and have no clue how to fix it. Error: App with label XYZ could not be found. Are you sure your INSTALLED_APPS setting is correct? Where XYZ stands for the app-name that I am trying to reset. This error shows up every time I try to reset it (manage.py reset XYZ). Show all the sql code works. Even manage.py validate shows no error. I already commented out every single line of code in the models.py that I touched the last three monts. (function by function, model by model) And even if there are no models left I get this error. Here http://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/10706 I found a bugreport about this error. I also applied one the patches to allocate the error, it raises an exception so you have a trace back, but even there is no sign in what of my files the error occurred. I don't want to paste my code right now, because it is nearly 1000 lines of code in the file I edited the most. If someone of you had the same error please tell me were I can look for the problem. In that case I can post the important part of the source. Otherwise it would be too much at once. Thank you for helping!!!

  • search through related field for specific related object

    - by dotty
Hay, I'm working on a simple voting system, where users can vote on a poll. My model looks like this class Poll(models.Model): question = models.CharField() votes = models.IntegerField() usersVoted = models.ManyToManyField(User) Now, i want to scan through the usersVoted field to see if a User object is in there. This User object will then be matched against a logged in User (User obj saved in a session). If the User has voted i want to be able to set a 'has_voted' field. I then want to use this field in my view. I will be using the Property() thingy inside the model to work this 'has_voted' value out. Like so def _can_vote(self): return False can_vote = property(_can_vote) Obviously it'll return a Bool. Any ideas how to search through a related field to find a specific Object?

  • foreignkey problem

    - by realshadow
    Hey, Imagine you have this model: class Category(models.Model): node_id = models.IntegerField(primary_key = True) type_id = models.IntegerField(max_length = 20) parent_id = models.IntegerField(max_length = 20) sort_order = models.IntegerField(max_length = 20) name = models.CharField(max_length = 45) lft = models.IntegerField(max_length = 20) rgt = models.IntegerField(max_length = 20) depth = models.IntegerField(max_length = 20) added_on = models.DateTimeField(auto_now = True) updated_on = models.DateTimeField(auto_now = True) status = models.IntegerField(max_length = 20) node = models.ForeignKey(Category_info, verbose_name = 'Category_info', to_field = 'node_id' The important part is the foreignkey. When I try: Category.objects.filter(type_id = 15, parent_id = offset, status = 1) I get an error that get returned more than category, which is fine, because it is supposed to return more than one. But I want to filter the results trough another field, which would be type id (from the second Model) Here it is: class Category_info(models.Model): objtree_label_id = models.AutoField(primary_key = True) node_id = models.IntegerField(unique = True) language_id = models.IntegerField() label = models.CharField(max_length = 255) type_id = models.IntegerField() The type_id can be any number from 1 - 5. I am desparately trying to get only one result where the type_id would be number 1. Here is what I want in sql: SELECT c.*, ci.* FROM category c JOIN category_info ci ON (c.node_id = ci.node_id) WHERE c.type_id = 15 AND c.parent_id = 50 AND ci.type_id = 1 Any help is GREATLY appreciated.   • Is there a way to customize how the value for a custom Model Field is displayed in a template?

    - by Jordan Reiter
I am storing dates as an integer field in the format YYYYMMDD, where month or day is optional. I have the following function for formatting the number: def flexibledateformat(value): import datetime, re try: value = str(int(value)) except: return None match = re.match(r'(\d{4})(\d\d)(\d\d)$',str(value)) if match: year_val, month_val, day_val = [int(v) for v in match.groups()] if day_val: return datetime.datetime.strftime(datetime.date(year_val,month_val,day_val),'%b %e, %Y') elif month_val: return datetime.datetime.strftime(datetime.date(year_val,month_val,1),'%B %Y') else: return str(year_val) Which results in the following outputs: >>> flexibledateformat(20100415) 'Apr 15, 2010' >>> flexibledateformat(20100400) 'April 2010' >>> flexibledateformat(20100000) '2010' So I'm wondering if there's a function I can add under the model field class that would automatically call flexibledateformat. So if there's a record r = DataRecord(name='foo',date=20100400) when processed in the form the value would be 20100400 but when output in a template using {{ r.date }} it shows up as "April 2010". Further clarification I do normally use datetime for storing date/time values. In this specific case, I need to record non-specific dates: "x happened in 2009", "y happened sometime in June 1996". The easiest way to do this while still preserving most of the functionality of a date field, including sorting and filtering, is by using an integer in the format of yyyymmdd. That is why I am using an IntegerField instead of a DateTimeField. This is what I would like to happen: I store what I call a "Flexible Date" in a FlexibleDateField as an integer with the format yyyymmdd. I render a form that includes a FlexibleDateField, and the value remains an integer so that functions necessary for validating it and rendering it in widgets work correctly. I call it in a template, as in {{ object.flexibledate }} and it is formatted according to the flexibledateformat rules: 20100416 - April 16, 2010; 20100400 - April 2010; 20100000 - 2010. This also applies when I'm not calling it directly, such as when it's used as a header in admin (http://example.org/admin/app_name/model_name/). I'm not aware if these specific things are possible.
