Nowadays we use PostgreSQL. Table weight (with index) ~1,5 GB. Average query time ~0.5s. Should I transfer all this to NoSQL base, if so, what?

  • Passing pointer position to an object in Java.

    I've got a JPanel class called Board with a static subclass, MouseHanlder, which tracks the mouse position along the appropriate listener in Board. My Board class has fields pointerX and pointerY. How do i pass the e.getX() and e.getY() from the MouseHandler subclass to its super class JPanel? I tried with getters, setters, super, and cant get the data transfer between subclass and parent class. I'm certain it's a concept issue, but im stuck. Thanks!

    In the installation instructions for Yii it is nescessary to use console and command line utility - yiic. Well, on my shared hosting I don't have ssh access. This is why I have following questions: How often and for what reasons will I have to use console? Is there a way to avoid using yiic? May I run yiic on local server and then just transfer everything to the final web server? Thanks!

    I have written a driver for a UART in omap4460 panda board running on Linux platform.I have enabled DMA in FIFO mode in UART.My user application transfers 100 bytes of data from user space to kernel buffer(DMA buffer). As soon as the DMA channel is enabled, data from DMA buffer is copied to FIFO which is then transmitted to TSR of UART.Since my FIFO size is 64bytes,only 64 bytes is transmitted to TSR. What should I do to transfer remaining bytes from DMA buffer to FIFO?/ IS there any overflow occuring?

    I was given the daunting task of converting a ASP website to PHP and MSSQL to MySQL, and I ran into an issue that hopefully somebody can help I have a user table which has a password field with datatype Varbinary(128), are using pwdencrypt to encrypt the password. Is there a way to transfer that over to MySQL, and somehow i need to be able to keep the password intact... how can i go about that? any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

However, the catch is that I need it to exist there immediately upon upload so I can moniter it on my server. I don't want to use a PHP extension or something - this should be very easy to transfer to any PHP setup. So basically: Is there a way to guarantee that, from the very beginning of the file upload process, the file has a certain name and location on the server?

I found gems like six-rsync and rsync-update but they seem to be no general implementations. I'm looking for a pure Ruby solution, so no executables involved and preferably runnable on multiple OS. If possible a simple sample would be great. I only look for Rsync, no other transfer or backup solutions please.

It's a one way transfer...That is I need to encrypt it in PHP and decrypt it in ASP.NET (c#).     HOWEVER! would setting the $link to my database be one thing that I prolly should use a GLOBAL scope for? In my setting of (lots of functions)...it seems as though having only one variable that is on the global scope would be wise.     Are there any protocols/standards that work over TCP that are optimized for high throughput and low latency? The only one I can think of is FAST. At the moment I have devised just a simple text-based protocol delimited by special characters. I'd like to adopt a protocol which is designed for fast transfer and supports perhaps compression and minification of the data that travels over the TCP socket.
