  • Creating a skin engine in MVC

    Does anyone have any experience creating a skin engine for asp.net MVC? I know the suggested approach is to use flexible markup with CSS, but I would like the ability for a new view to be dropped in, and the application use that one instead of the default one. Basically, I want to know how to tell the framework (at run time) to look into a specific folder for the views/content, and if the item isn't there to check the default locations. I started to look into how the Oxite blog engine does it, but it seems like that might be a bit much for what I need (I am still looking through it, so I could be wrong.) Any help is appreciated.

  • GWT on Python App Engine

    Hi, I have a python app engine code (matured backend) - and we are now planning to have a front end for that code. I was wondering whether it is possible to implement GWT as the front end. Even though Alex Martelli in this post [1] mentions it is not possible, a comment to that post suggests that it is indeed possible using rpc over json for GWT. I was unable to understand how this is possible. In app.yaml file, we have to specify the language to be python, right? In that case, how can it compile GWT based on JAVA? Are there any examples on anyone doing that? Can someone help me out? It would be extremely helpful. So far, my pattern looks like this: /\<p\>(.*?)(<\/p>)/g And I'm replacing the matches with: $1\n It all looks good, but it's also replacing the contents inside the [code][/code] tags, which in this case should not replace the tags at all, so as a result, i would lkike to get rid of the tags, when the content isn't inside the [code] tags. I can't ever get negation right, I know it will be something along the lines of \<p\>^\[code*\](.*?)(<\/p>) But obviously this doesn't work :-) Could anyone please lend me a hand with this regex? BTW, I know I shouldn't be using regular expressions to parse HTML at all. I'm fully aware of that, but still, for this specific case, I'd like to use regex. Thanks in advance

  • Sessions enabled - do we have to clean them up ourselves?

    Hi, When we turn sessions on in google app engine like: // appengine-web.xml <sessions-enabled>true</sessions-enabled> does app engine automatically clean up expired sessions, or do we have to do it ourselves? After turning them on, I see in the datastore that some entries are being generated like _ah_session, I'm wondering if those are them? Thanks

  • Mircosoft Expressions rejecting FP extensions

    Hey there, I've just moved to a new server and I can't seem to get FrontPage extensions to work with Mircosoft Expressions. I like to edit my site Live rather then local to server. But Now, when I access my domain.. eg: http://domain.com It'll come up with: Access Denied. And if I click details it returns 501 Method Not Implemented Method Not Implemented GET to / not supported. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. If I define (in .htaccess): ErrorDocument 404 /404.php The Details returns the Title and contents of 404.php. And if I define (in .htaccess): ErrorDocument 404 /404.php ErrorDocument 501 /501.php The Details return nothing. What Am I doing wrong? Thanks.

  • How to simulate slow internet connection

    I currently deploy with GAE (google app engine) and I try to implement some AJAX validation. So I got a couple text-fields and "spinners" (ajax loaders) which should be displayed when an AJAX request is sent. But I deploy on my local computer (localhost), so the GAE SDK reacts very fast on any request. It takes about 50-70 ms(miliseconds) to perform the whole ajax request, which is far far away from the real. Is there a way to somehow simulate slow Internet connection? I just want to see how my "spinners" work. I want to test some ajax setting (jquery) about timeouts, errors and so on... Any ideas ?

  • Can I use a Google Appliance/Mini to crawl and index sites I don't own?

    Maybe this is a stupid question, but... I am working with this company and they said they needed to get "permission" to crawl other people's sites. They have a Google Search Appliance And some Google Minis and want to point them at other sites to aggregate content. The end result will be something like a targeted search engine. (All the indexed sites relate to a specific topic) The only thing they will be doing is: Indexing Content from the other sites/domains Providing search functionality on their own site that searches the indexed content (like Google, displaying summaries and not the full content) The search results will provide links back to the original content Their intent is not malicious in nature, and is to provide a single site/resource for people to reference on their given topic. Is there anything illegal or fishy about this process?

  • Microsoft Blend 4 Crashes On Splash Screen [closed]

    Recently I encountered a big problem: Blend 4 always crashes immediately after a splash screen ends. No error numbers mentioned, just a crash window saying "Blend has been crashed, debug or close". Is anybody else familiar with that problem? I tried to get some help from Google but there were no relevant references. I Clicked "Debug" and JIT Debugger was opened, it threw "FataExecutionEngineError" exception... What does it mean?

    I was working on a program in Netbeans on Linux using a gcc compiler when, upon switching to Visual C++ on Windows 7, the code failed to compile as Visual C++ says it expected constant expression on several lines. On Netbeans, I simply did something similar to char name[fullName.size()];, while on Visual C++, I tried, among other things, const int position = fullName.size(); char Name[position]; How can I create a constant to use for the array?

    I want to make a Silverlight application in Expression Blend because of the rich UI and navigation of Blend. But I want to store the Silverlight application in an ASP.NET MVC web project. When I try to make a new Silverlight application, the default web application is an ASP.NET Web application (or web site, if I'm wrong). Can I make a single Silverlight application (no web project) then import in an ASP.NET MVC application? How can I do this?

  • Loading an external image via XAML code in WPF?

Now, I'm gonna load it into the WPF Project as an image, I've used the following XAML code: <Image Stretch="Fill" Source="pack://siteoforigin:,,,/images/lock.png" /> It works, but Expression Blend or Visual Studio doesn't show it when I'm working on the project. How can we show external images in these situations?

Basically i would like to change the minimize and maximize buttons - oh and the close button to be slightly bigger.... I have expression blend.... Is this possible?     I'm reading through this computer science book and throughout the book I see a number of things written like so: and then there's this: and then this: What kind of notation is the "Boolean Expression" in example 1 written in? I've never seen anything like it before and I'm tempted to assume that whoever wrote and/or scanned this book in fell asleep at the keyboard, and assuming that it's even valid, what about the 3rd example? I'm pretty sure that's not C++ or VB.NET they're showing there.

    Hey all, I'm working on a project and I'm wondering how to get a type of window common in Windows's wireless controls, as shown in the screen shot below: http://cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/windows-7-wireless.jpg There's no close or maximize buttons, but the border is still present. While there are tutorials out there describing setting styles for buttons, there seem to be a few wrinkles with ComboBox controls.     There are three possibilities, but I can't find examples: System.Linq.Expressions.MemberAssignment System.Linq.Expressions.MemberListBinding System.Linq.Expressions.MemberMemberBinding I want to write some unit tests to see if I can handle them, but I don't know how to write them except for the first one, which seems to be new Foo { Property = "value" } where Property = "value" is an expression of type MemberAssignment.
