• How to add external library properly in Eclipse?

  So today I downloaded Apache Commons Lang library (binary, zip format). I extracted it to C:\eclipse\commons-lang-2.5 folder. There are a commons-lang-2.5.jar, a commons-lang-2.5-javadoc.jar, and a commons-lang-2.5-sources.jar inside, and a folder for HTML Javadoc. I started Eclipse, added commons-lang-2.5.jar, and set its source and Javadoc respectively as the screenshot below. My question is, is there a convenient or standard way to add external libraries? Or am I actually doing the right thing?

  Hi all, I'm using the PhysX SDK and I'm trying to load an .obj file with the WavefrontObj object which is defined by the files "wavefront.h/.cpp", localized in the samples directory. I only want to get the value of fullname, maybe with some javascript regex, or some jQuery dom parser, i know i can do it easily with php but i want it using Javascript or jQuery. • Checking for Magento login on external page

  I'm hitting a wall here while trying to access items from Magento on an external page (same server, same domain, etc, etc). I want to see if the user is logged into Magento before showing them certain parts on the site. Keep in mind that this code exists outside of Magento. What am I doing wrong here? Is there an option in Magento that I need to turn on or off to be able to access this information outside of Magento?

  Hey all. I'm working on an application that was originally intended for HTML, but I've recently concluded that the best thing to do for my purposes is to do it in Flash instead. One of the big things I need is to be able to bring in movieclips from external files and add them to my main movie at runtime (dynamic number of elements, skinning, etc.) Don't need full-on code for this, but I could use some assistance in tracking down the resources to learn how to do these things successfully. Tutorials, best practices… The usual suspects. I've been using Flash for a while now, and used to do this pretty easily in AS2, but I've had some hiccups using classes and addchild in an earlier attempt, so any help would be much appreciated. • Using a Kanban board per developer

  I have been trying to get our software department to adopt some kind development process methodolgy. We only have 9 developers, and about as many projects. Currently, we can only be described as chaotic. Or perhaps 'crisis driven development' as I've seen another SO user call it. Using Kanban seems like a it could be a good fit for us. So I've discussed it with everyone else, everyone thought it sounded good. But when we discussed how the board(s) should be arranged, everyone wanted to do one board per person. Now, I've never tried Kanban, or any methodology really, but it feels like having each person managed on their own board would negate the benefits a Kanban process is supposed to provide. This notion makes me sad, and want to say 'ho-hum let's scrap this whole idea.' Do you think implementing a Kanban board per developer can be worthwhile?

• Displaying build times in Visual Studio?

  Our build server is taking too long to build one of our C++ projects. It uses Visual Studio 2008. Is there any way to get devenv.com to log the time taken to build each project in the solution, so that I know where to focus my efforts? Improved hardware is not an option in this case. I've tried setting the output verbosity (under Tools / Options / Projects and Solutions / Build and Run / MSBuild project build output verbosity). This doesn't seem to have any effect in the IDE. When running MSBuild from the command line (and, for Visual Studio 2008, it needs to be MSBuild v3.5), it displays the total time elapsed at the end, but not in the IDE. I really wanted a time-taken report for each project in the solution, so that I could figure out where the build process was taking its time. Alternatively, since we actually use NAnt to drive the build process (we use Jetbrains TeamCity), is there a way to get NAnt to tell me the time taken for each step?

• svn:switch doesn't work with relative svn:external?

  We have a subfolder that is a relative svn external (../project/subfolder). In a fresh trunk checkout it points to (...TRUNK/project/subfolder) and in a fresh branch checkout it points to (...BRANCH/branchName/project/subfolder). But if you do a switch on the project containing the subfolder, the subfolder stays pointing at TRUNK. Alternately if you do a BRANCH checkout and switch to TRUNK it stays pointing at BRANCH. Shouldn't an svn:switch update relative externals? Is there some sort of recursive svn:switch I should be running?

• Embed external images for use in HTML canvas?

  I'm using JavaScript to load an image into my Canvas element in Firefox. This works fine for local images, but throws a security exception for external images. Is there any way to avoid this security exception, one that does not involve my server having to act as proxy to load the image locally (because that would stress my server)?   Here is my problem. I made a class with a member function declared as const that uses an external function that I cannot modify (declared in someone else's code) and that is not declared const. More precisely Someone else's code class B { public: void foo(); }; My code class A : public B { public: void bar() const { this->foo(); } }; I know that for member data we can force const-correctness by using mutable or const_cast. How can I 'hack' foo such that my compiler understands that I would like to use it as if it was const even if it is not declared in someone else's code ?

  Hi all... I've a vb.net class that is invoked with a context menu extension in Internet Explorer. The code has access to the object model of the page, and reading data is not a problem. This is the code of a test funcion... it changes the status bar text (OK), prints the page html (OK), changes the html by adding a text and prints again the page html (ok, in the second popup my added text is in the html) But the Internet Explorer window doesnt't show it. • Get a CSS value from external style sheet with Javascript/jQuery

  Is it possible to get a value from the external CSS of a page if the element that the style refers to has not been generated yet? (the element is to be generated dynamically). The jQuery method I've seen is $('element').css('property','value');, but this relies on element being on the page. Is there a way of finding out what the property is set to within the CSS rather than the computed style of an element? Will I have to do something ugly like add a hidden copy of the element to my page so that I can access its style attributes?

The problem I have is that I don't know how to somehow mark the object for deallocation once extproc has done marshalling it. The object remains in extproc's memory forever making it grow in memory consumtion. • Organization of linking to external libraries in C++

  In a cross-platform (Windows, FreeBSD) C++ project I'm working on, I am making use of two external libraries, Protocol Buffers and ZeroMQ. In both projects, I am tracking the latest development branch, so these libraries are recompiled / replaced often. For a development scenario, where is the best place to keep libprotobuf.{a,lib} and zeromq.{so,dll}? Should I have my build script copy them from their respective project directories into my local project's directory (say MyProjectRoot/lib or MyProjectRoot/bin) before I build my project? This seems preferable to tossing things into /usr/local/lib, as I wouldn't want to replace a system-wide stable version with the latest experimental one. Cmake warns me whenever I specify a relative path for linking, so I would suspect copying is a better solution then relative linking? Is this the best approach? Thanks for your help!

  Hi, I am using an external asp page (On the company's server - not related to me beside the fact that I'm using it for my job). The asp page has one query in it, I'm writing something in it and it gives me some information. In the information there is a certain line with constant header (let's assume 'HEADER'), I want to build an HTA that pulls the line that contains 'HEADER' to my HTA and display only this line.   Our team builds a .NET 3.5 WinForms based application that we'd like to migrate to the latest .NET version (4.5). Our application uses many "external" components (can be thought of as plugins) that are also currently .NET 3.5 based. I'd like to know what runtime/core libraries are used in case we convert ONLY THE APPLICATION to compile using .NET 4.5? Should this scenario properly work? (loading .NET 3.5 assemblies in a 4.5 process)? * The plugin assemblies are loaded via reflection. How does the CLR runtime handle such a scenario? is this a safe practice?

  I have two WIN32 DLL projects in the solution, main.dll should call a function in mgn.dll. mgn.dll has mgn.h header file: #ifdef MGN_EXPORTS #define MGN_API __declspec(dllexport) #else #define MGN_API __declspec(dllimport) #endif extern "C" bool MGN_API AttachMGN(void); and mgn.cpp source file: #include "stdafx.h" #include "mgn.h" MGN_API bool AttachMGN(void) { ... } main.dll calls AttachMGN function from one of the source file: #include "stdafx.h" #include "..\mgn\mgn.h" bool CreateClient() { return ::AttachMGN(); } mgn.dll compiles successfully. main.dll doesn't show any errors in VS text editor, I can navigate using "Go To Definition" function. However during build I get the error: error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _imp_AttachMGN referenced in function "bool __cdecl CreateClient(void)" (?CreateClient@@AW4XZ) Both DLLs compile into the same folder. DependencyWalker shows the function AttachMGN as exported. Main project has a dependency set to Mgn project, if that matters. I believe that I simply have overlooked something.... Thanks in advance.

• Address of instruction causing SIGSEGV in external program

  I want to get address of instruction that causes external program to SIGSEGV. I tried using ptrace for this, but I'm getting EIP from kernel space (probably default signal handler?). How GDB is able to get the correct EIP? Is there a way to make GDB provide this information using some API? edit: I don't have sources of the program, only binary executable. I need automation, so I can't simply use "run", "info registers" in GDB. I want to implement "info registers" in my own mini-debugger :)

• Getting info about a screen session from an external script

  I have a screen session. I'd like to be able to figure out what's running in it from an external script. I've gotten this far: ps --ppid $PID -o comm= That prints a list of all the child processes of the screen. What I haven't been able to figure out so far is: What window is selected/active in a screen session. If $PID is an attached screen it has no children. How do I find out what session it's attached to? I imagine the solution will involve some 'screen -X' voodoo, but I haven't figured out how to make that happen yet and google has been less than helpful.

• Does Google appengine cache external requests?

  I have a very simple application running on appengine that requests a web page every five minutes and parses for a specific piece of data. Everything works fine except that the response I get back from the external request (using urllib2) doesn't reflect the latest changes to the page. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to get the latest, sometimes over an hour. Is there a transparent layer of caching that appengine puts in place? Or is there something else I am missing here? I've looked at the caching headers of the requested page and there is no Expires or LastModified's sent. Update: Sometimes, it will get the new version of the page for a number of requests and then randomly later get an old out of date version.

  I have seen mention of a bunch of external JSF Libraries such as ICEfaces, Richfaces, etc. However, I am unsure as to what these libraries actually add over just using JSF 2.0. Are they just additional components that are pre-built? I know that PrettyFaces adds URL rewriting, and I Believe that ICEFaces/Richfaces add Ajax enabled components? What are some other major component libraries, what are their benefits / why should people use them? Additionally, what does a framework like SEAM add over using straight JSF2 with EJB? Is MYFaces simply a different implementation of JSF?

• Including external C++ libraries in version control

  I'm currently starting a project which is going to be developed on a few different computer and I'm keeping in sync with bzr. In the project I'm using a couple of 3rd party libraries, like SDL. In the past I've just pushed a copy of the compiled library to my version control, but that usually seems to massively inflate the size of the branch and generally seem like a bad idea. Is that the normal practice, just pushing the required libraries, or is there a better way of added libraries to distributed version control like bzr or git? (I know on svn you can use svn:external to do something similar to this)
