  • Windows 7 disappearing applications and shortcuts

    - by kurkevan
    I installed a number of applications on a new laptop running Windows 7, selecting "run as administrator" wherever necessary. But after rebooting, all executable files (.exe, .bat) were missing from the program folders, and all the new desktop shortcuts were gone as well, without a trace! I can't even open any pdf's now, because the reader application I installed seemingly no longer exists. My hunch is that this has something to do with UAC virtualization, but I don't really understand how, since I was logged on as an administrator the whole time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Latexmk on OS X

    - by Barum Rho
    Does anyone use latexmk on OS X with either Preview or another PDF, dvi, or PS reader? I've recently switched from Linux and installed MacTex to use Latex. I am used to using Vim to edit the source file and having latex -pvc running so that it will update the preview on xdvi upon save. I am aware that I can run xdvi using XQuartz, but I have it setup to run fullscreen, so it is not very useful when I don't want to go into X11 mode altogether. The problem with using Preview is that it will only update from the PDF file when Preview receives focus. I could not figure out if there is a command to trigger Preview to reload the PDF file.

  • Is there a way to create a custom installer package to do batch installs of a bunch of programs at o

    - by user37860
    Basically I want to create a file which will automatically install a bunch of files without having to manually install each of them (i.e. Flash, Adobe Reader, MS Office, etc.). I'm guessing the easiest way to do this would be to create a batch file but I don't have much experience with the scripting side of things. I remember seeing a website at one point that would do this sort of thing for you but I'm not sure if that could be used offline or not. Thanks in advance...just looking to make things a bit more streamlined on new builds without the costs associated with imaging software. Thanks!

  • Copying large file from SD to HDD via USB failing on Ubuntu

    - by Kent Boogaart
    Hi, I'm attempting to copy some large files from my camera (Canon EOS 500D) to my laptop, which is running 64 bit Ubuntu 9.04. I am using USB to connect the two devices. For most files, it is simply a matter of control-C and control-V. I have done this successfully many times with both photos and small movies (eg. 180MB). However, when I attempt to do this with very large files (eg. 3GB), the copy seems to start with a lot of activity both on the camera and laptop, but after 10 minutes or so the camera is automatically unmounted and the copy fails to complete. I have read that this might be due to the device not mounting as a mass storage device, but I cannot see any obvious way for me to change this behavior. Can anyone offer any direction here? I'll get a USB card reader if necessary, but I'd prefer to be able to just plug my camera in. Thanks

  • ipfw is blocking access to a script

    - by user225551
    I need to figure out how to troubleshoot why ipfw is blocking my script. This script parses out some rss feeds over the net. I have about 10 different feed urls. About 5 or 6 of these urls are returning xml, the others are timing out. If I turn the firewall off, they will all work. The issue I'm having is that I have no idea what port I need to open for the urls that are timing out. Is there a command that will show me this?

  • How to maintain original figure numbers in pdf document saved from Word 2007 file?

    - by S_H
    I have a Word 2007 document in which the Figure numbers and List of Figures is correct i.e. exactly as I want. I generate a pdf (Adobe Reader X, Version 10.1.2) from Word 2007 document using the save as option. The List of Figures in the pdf document comes out exactly as present in the Word document, however when I click on that Figure number I see a different number than present in List of Figures. For example, I have this Figure number on List of Figures which is exactly as I want: But the corresponding Figure on Page 61 shows following number: It is becoming 4-21 from 4-7 because the total number of Figures from Chapters 1 till this Figure are 20. However, I want break in number of Figures between each Chapter i.e. Figures for Chapter 4 should start from 4-1, so the number 4-21 is actually 4-7 in that case. How can I correct this? Thanks.

  • Remotely initiate windows updates

    - by TetraFlash
    I have a network with countless workstations on it and the windows updates are done through WSUS in push cycles to allow us to use a generic image and configuration and avoid network congestion. I have a number of workstations in storage that are connected once a month for a few days to recieve updates, however not all of them fall within their push cycle. I want to avoid going to each machine and clicking "check updates" as that would require me to connect a monitor, mouse and keyboard. Is there a way (preferably through powershell but im open minded) to initiate a check and install of updates on a remote system? Lets say for 1 system at a time right now, I can add a file reader and a look later. NOTE: the configuration of the WSUS server is above my pay grade, im simply being asked to ensure these machines are updated. Thanks for any help or hints

  • File filtering_Python 3.2 [closed]

    - by user71261
    I'm trying to write a short file filtering code in Python that will find my desired string. I've got it worked out logically, but my Command Feed is sending me an error message for the print statement. This is how it works as of now: filename = input('give file name: ') n = input('give desired string: ') f = open line = f.readline() while line: if n in line: print line line = f.readline() Error Statement: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 7, in <fragment> Syntax Error: print line: <string>, line 718 I know this is a simple problem but the answer is not obvious to me. please help.

  • Need help with setting up comet code

    - by Saif Bechan
    Does anyone know off a way or maybe think its possible to connect Node.js with Nginx http push module to maintain a persistent connection between client and browser. I am new to comet so just don't understand the publishing etc maybe someone can help me with this. What i have set up so far is the following. I downloaded the jQuery.comet plugin and set up the following basic code: Client JavaScript <script type="text/javascript"> function updateFeed(data) { $('#time').text(data); } function catchAll(data, type) { console.log(data); console.log(type); } $.comet.connect('/broadcast/sub?channel=getIt'); $.comet.bind(updateFeed, 'feed'); $.comet.bind(catchAll); $('#kill-button').click(function() { $.comet.unbind(updateFeed, 'feed'); }); </script> What I can understand from this is that the client will keep on listening to the url followed by /broadcast/sub=getIt. When there is a message it will fire updateFeed. Pretty basic and understandable IMO. Nginx http push module config default_type application/octet-stream; sendfile on; keepalive_timeout 65; push_authorized_channels_only off; server { listen 80; location /broadcast { location = /broadcast/sub { set $push_channel_id $arg_channel; push_subscriber; push_subscriber_concurrency broadcast; push_channel_group broadcast; } location = /broadcast/pub { set $push_channel_id $arg_channel; push_publisher; push_min_message_buffer_length 5; push_max_message_buffer_length 20; push_message_timeout 5s; push_channel_group broadcast; } } } Ok now this tells nginx to listen at port 80 for any calls to /broadcast/sub and it will give back any responses sent to /broadcast/pub. Pretty basic also. This part is not so hard to understand, and is well documented over the internet. Most of the time there is a ruby or a php file behind this that does the broadcasting. My idea is to have node.js broadcasting /broadcast/pub. I think this will let me have persistent streaming data from the server to the client without breaking the connection. I tried the long-polling approach with looping the request but I think this will be more efficient. Or is this not going to work. Node.js file Now to create the Node.js i'm lost. First off all I don't know how to have node.js to work in this way. The setup I used for long polling is as follows: var sys = require('sys'), http = require('http'); http.createServer(function (req, res) { res.writeHead(200, {'Content-Type': 'text/html'}); res.write(new Date()); res.close(); seTimeout('',1000); }).listen(8000); This listens to port 8000 and just writes on the response variable. For long polling my nginx.config looked something like this: server { listen 80; server_name _; location / { proxy_pass http://mydomain.com:8080$request_uri; include /etc/nginx/proxy.conf; } } This just redirected the port 80 to 8000 and this worked fine. Does anyone have an idea on how to have Node.js act in a way Comet understands it. Would be really nice and you will help me out a lot. Recources used An example where this is done with ruby instead of Node.js jQuery.comet Nginx HTTP push module homepage Faye: a Comet client and server for Node.js and Rack To use faye I have to install the comet client, but I want to use the one supplied with Nginx. Thats why I don't just use faye. The one nginx uses is much more optimzed. extra Persistant connections Going evented with Node.js

  • Get Asynchronous HttpResponse through Silverlight (F#)

  • Receicing POST data in ASP.NET

    - by grast
    Hi, I want to use ASP for code generation in a C# desktop application. To achieve this, I set up a simple host (derived from System.MarshalByRefObject) that processes a System.Web.Hosting.SimpleWorkerRequest via HttpRuntime.ProcessRequest. This processes the ASPX script specified by the incoming request (using System.Net.HttpListener to wait for requests). The client-part is represented by a System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker that builds the System.Net.HttpWebRequest and receives the response from the server. A simplified version of my client-part-code looks like this: private void SendRequest(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { // create request with GET parameter var uri = "http://localhost:9876/test.aspx?getTest=321"; var request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(uri); // append POST parameter request.Method = "POST"; request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; var postData = Encoding.Default.GetBytes("postTest=654"); var postDataStream = request.GetRequestStream(); postDataStream.Write(postData, 0, postData.Length); // send request, wait for response and store/print content using (var response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse()) { using (var reader = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream(), Encoding.UTF8)) { _processsedContent = reader.ReadToEnd(); Debug.Print(_processsedContent); } } } My server-part-code looks like this (without exception-handling etc.): public void ProcessRequests() { // HttpListener at http://localhost:9876/ var listener = SetupListener(); // SimpleHost created by ApplicationHost.CreateApplicationHost var host = SetupHost(); while (_running) { var context = listener.GetContext(); using (var writer = new StreamWriter(context.Response.OutputStream)) { // process ASP script and send response back to client host.ProcessRequest(GetPage(context), GetQuery(context), writer); } context.Response.Close(); } } So far all this works fine as long as I just use GET parameters. But when it comes to receiving POST data in my ASPX script I run into trouble. For testing I use the following script: // GET parameters are working: var getTest = Request.QueryString["getTest"]; Response.Write("getTest: " + getTest); // prints "getTest: 321" // don't know how to access POST parameters: var postTest1 = Request.Form["postTest"]; // Request.Form is empty?! Response.Write("postTest1: " + postTest1); // so this prints "postTest1: " var postTest2 = Request.Params["postTest"]; // Request.Params is empty?! Response.Write("postTest2: " + postTest2); // so this prints "postTest2: " It seems that the System.Web.HttpRequest object I'm dealing with in ASP does not contain any information about my POST parameter "postTest". I inspected it in debug mode and none of the members did contain neither the parameter-name "postTest" nor the parameter-value "654". I also tried the BinaryRead method of Request, but unfortunately it is empty. This corresponds to Request.InputStream==null and Request.ContentLength==0. And to make things really confusing the Request.HttpMethod member is set to "GET"?! To isolate the problem I tested the code by using a PHP script instead of the ASPX script. This is very simple: print_r($_GET); // prints all GET variables print_r($_POST); // prints all POST variables And the result is: Array ( [getTest] = 321 ) Array ( [postTest] = 654 ) So with the PHP script it works, I can access the POST data. Why does the ASPX script don't? What am I doing wrong? Is there a special accessor or method in the Response object? Can anyone give a hint or even know how to solve this? Thanks in advance.

  • WFP: How do you properly Bind a DependencyProperty to the GUI

    - by Robert Ross
    I have the following class (abreviated for simplicity). The app it multi-threaded so the Set and Get are a bit more complicated but should be ok. namespace News.RSS { public class FeedEngine : DependencyObject { public static readonly DependencyProperty _processing = DependencyProperty.Register("Processing", typeof(bool), typeof(FeedEngine), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(true, FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.AffectsRender)); public bool Processing { get { return (bool)this.Dispatcher.Invoke( DispatcherPriority.Normal, (DispatcherOperationCallback)delegate { return GetValue(_processing); }, Processing); } set { this.Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(DispatcherPriority.Normal, (SendOrPostCallback)delegate { SetValue(_processing, value); }, value); } } public void Poll() { while (Running) { Processing = true; //Do my work to read the data feed from remote source Processing = false; Thread.Sleep(PollRate); } // } } } Next I have my main form as the following: <Window x:Class="News.Main" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:converter="clr-namespace:News.Converters" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:News.Lookup" xmlns:rss="clr-namespace:News.RSS" Title="News" Height="521" Width="927" Initialized="Window_Initialized" Closing="Window_Closing" > <Window.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <converter:BooleanConverter x:Key="boolConverter" /> <converter:ArithmeticConverter x:Key="arithConverter" /> ... </ResourceDictionary> </Window.Resources> <DockPanel Name="dockPanel1" SnapsToDevicePixels="False" > <ToolBarPanel Height="37" Name="toolBarPanel" Orientation="Horizontal" DockPanel.Dock="Top" > <ToolBarPanel.Children> <Button DataContext="{DynamicResource FeedEngine}" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Name="btnSearch" ToolTip="Search" Click="btnSearch_Click" IsEnabled="{Binding Path=Processing, Converter={StaticResource boolConverter}}"> <Image Width="32" Height="32" Name="imgSearch" Source="{Resx ResxName=News.Properties.Resources, Key=Search}" /> </Button> ... </DockPanel> </Window> As you can see I set the DataContext to FeedEngine and Bind IsEnabled to Processing. I have also tested the boolConverter separately and it functions (just applies ! (Not) to a bool). Here is my Main window code behind in case it helps to debug. namespace News { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for Main.xaml /// </summary> public partial class Main : Window { public FeedEngine _engine; List<NewsItemControl> _newsItems = new List<NewsItemControl>(); Thread _pollingThread; public Main() { InitializeComponent(); this.Show(); } private void Window_Initialized(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Load current Feed data. _engine = new FeedEngine(); ThreadStart start = new ThreadStart(_engine.Poll); _pollingThread = new Thread(start); _pollingThread.Start(); } } } Hope someone can see where I missed a step. Thanks.

  • xmlns='' was not expected when deserializing nested classes

    - by Mavrik
    I have a problem when attempting to serialize class on a server, send it to the client and deserialize is on the destination. On the server I have the following two classes: [XmlRoot("StatusUpdate")] public class GameStatusUpdate { public GameStatusUpdate() {} public GameStatusUpdate(Player[] players, Command command) { this.Players = players; this.Update = command; } [XmlArray("Players")] public Player[] Players { get; set; } [XmlElement("Command")] public Command Update { get; set; } } and [XmlRoot("Player")] public class Player { public Player() {} public Player(PlayerColors color) { Color = color; ... } [XmlAttribute("Color")] public PlayerColors Color { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("X")] public int X { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("Y")] public int Y { get; set; } } (The missing types are all enums). This generates the following XML on serialization: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <StatusUpdate> <Players> <Player Color="Cyan" X="67" Y="32" /> </Players> <Command>StartGame</Command> </StatusUpdate> On the client side, I'm attempting to deserialize that into following classes: [XmlRoot("StatusUpdate")] public class StatusUpdate { public StatusUpdate() { } [XmlArray("Players")] [XmlArrayItem("Player")] public PlayerInfo[] Players { get; set; } [XmlElement("Command")] public Command Update { get; set; } } and [XmlRoot("Player")] public class PlayerInfo { public PlayerInfo() { } [XmlAttribute("X")] public int X { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("Y")] public int Y { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("Color")] public PlayerColor Color { get; set; } } However, the deserializer throws an exception: There is an error in XML document (2, 2). <StatusUpdate xmlns=''> was not expected. What am I missing or doing wrong? EDIT: On request I'm also adding code used to serialize and deserialize: Server: public static byte[] SerializeObject(Object obj) { XmlSerializer xmlSerializer = new XmlSerializer(obj.GetType()); StringWriter writer = new StringWriter(); // Clear pre-defined namespaces XmlSerializerNamespaces xsn = new XmlSerializerNamespaces(); xsn.Add("", ""); xmlSerializer.Serialize(writer, obj, xsn); writer.Flush(); // Send as little-endian UTF-16 string because the Serializer denotes XML as // utf-18 which cannot be easly changed UnicodeEncoding encoder = new UnicodeEncoding(false, false); return encoder.GetBytes(writer.ToString()); } Client: public static object DeserializeXml(string xmlData, Type type) { XmlSerializer xmlSerializer = new XmlSerializer(type); StringReader reader = new StringReader(xmlData); object obj = xmlSerializer.Deserialize(reader); return obj; } Deserialization is invoked with StatusUpdate update = (StatusUpdate) Util.DeserializeXml(xmlData, typeof (StatusUpdate));

  • NSURLConnection not "firing" until UITableView scrolls..

    - by Simon
    Hi, I've got a UITableView that loads an image asynchronously and places it in the UITableViewCell once it's loaded (I'm using almost the exact same code as in the "LazyTableImages" tutorial). This works fine for all images when I scroll the table, but it's not loading the images that are first in the view. The code is definitely working fine as the class that actually sends the NSURLConnection request is being called correctly (I added an NSLog and it reached the console). The NSURLConnection is just not calling the delegate methods (didReceiveData, connectionDidFinishLoading, etc). Here's my code: HomeController.m - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; NSArray *feed = [feeds objectAtIndex: indexPath.row]; /** * Name of person */ [...] /** * Feed entry */ [...] /** * Misc work */ [...] } FeedRecord *feedRecord = [self.entries objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; if( !feedRecord.image ) { if (self.table.dragging == NO && self.table.decelerating == NO) { [self startIconDownload:feedRecord forIndexPath:indexPath]; } cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"Placeholder.png"]; } return cell; } - (void)startIconDownload:(FeedRecord *)feedRecord forIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { IconDownloader *iconDownloader = [imageDownloadsInProgress objectForKey:indexPath]; if (iconDownloader == nil) { iconDownloader = [[IconDownloader alloc] init]; iconDownloader.feedRecord = feedRecord; iconDownloader.indexPathInTableView = indexPath; iconDownloader.delegate = self; [imageDownloadsInProgress setObject:iconDownloader forKey:indexPath]; [iconDownloader startDownload]; [iconDownloader release]; } } IconDownload.m #import "IconDownloader.h" #import "FeedRecord.h" #define kAppIconHeight 48 @implementation IconDownloader @synthesize feedRecord; @synthesize indexPathInTableView; @synthesize delegate; @synthesize activeDownload; @synthesize imageConnection; #pragma mark - (void)dealloc { [feedRecord release]; [indexPathInTableView release]; [activeDownload release]; [imageConnection cancel]; [imageConnection release]; [super dealloc]; } - (void)startDownload { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Started downloading", feedRecord.profilePicture); // this shows in log self.activeDownload = [NSMutableData data]; // alloc+init and start an NSURLConnection; release on completion/failure NSURLConnection *conn = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest: [NSURLRequest requestWithURL: [NSURL URLWithString:feedRecord.profilePicture]] delegate:self]; self.imageConnection = conn; NSLog(@"%@",conn); // this shows in log [conn release]; } - (void)cancelDownload { [self.imageConnection cancel]; self.imageConnection = nil; self.activeDownload = nil; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Download support (NSURLConnectionDelegate) - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Got data for", feedRecord.profilePicture); [self.activeDownload appendData:data]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"%@",@"Fail!"); // Clear the activeDownload property to allow later attempts self.activeDownload = nil; // Release the connection now that it's finished self.imageConnection = nil; } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Done", feedRecord.profilePicture); // Set appIcon and clear temporary data/image UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:self.activeDownload]; self.feedRecord.image = image; self.activeDownload = nil; [image release]; // Release the connection now that it's finished self.imageConnection = nil; NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Our delegate is",delegate); // call our delegate and tell it that our icon is ready for display [delegate feedImageDidLoad:self.indexPathInTableView]; } @end Has anyone else experienced anything like this or can identify an issue with my code? Thanks!

  • Parsing a Directory of files - Check for a String

    - by i.h4d35
    This is my first post here so kindly pardon any mistakes that I have. I'm still learning to find my way around Stack Exchange. I am trying to write a Java program that tries to scan a Directory full of either .txt,.rtf or.doc files(and none other). The aim is to search all the files in the directory, and find out if a particular string exists in the file. If it does, it returns the string and the filename that it found the string in. The aim of this program is, it is a project for school wherein the program scans the personal folders of call center employees to check if they have stored any CC/DC nos and if yes, report the folder name - to reduce CC fraud. The search function was fairly straight forward and works when I individually specify the filename. However, the searching the directory and passing the files to the search function has me stumped. I've posted my code so far, if you guys could look thru it and give me some feedback/suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class parse2{ void traverse(String directory) throws FileNotFoundException { File dir = new File(directory); if (dir.isDirectory()) { String[] children = dir.list(); for (int i=0; i<children.length; i++) { //System.out.println("\n" + children[i]); reader(children[i]); } } } void reader(String loc) throws FileNotFoundException { FileReader fr = new FileReader(loc); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fr); Scanner sc = new Scanner(br); char[] chkArray; int chk=1; char ch; while(sc.hasNext()) { String chkStr = sc.next(); chkArray = chkStr.toCharArray(); if ((chkArray[0]=='4')&&(chkStr.length()>13)) { for(int i=0;i<chkArray.length;i++) { ch=chkArray[i]; if((ch=='0')||(ch=='1')||(ch=='2')||(ch=='3')||(ch=='4')||(ch=='5')||(ch=='6')||(ch=='7')||(ch=='8')||(ch=='9')) { chk=0; continue; } else { chk=1; break; } } if(chk==0) System.out.println("\n"+ chkStr); } else if((chkArray[0]=='5')&&(chkStr.length()>13)) { for(int i=0;i<chkArray.length;i++) { ch=chkArray[i]; if((ch=='0')||(ch=='1')||(ch=='2')||(ch=='3')||(ch=='4')||(ch=='5')||(ch=='6')||(ch=='7')||(ch=='8')||(ch=='9')) { chk=0; continue; } else { chk=1; break; } } if(chk==0) System.out.println("\n"+ chkStr); } else if((chkArray[0]=='6')&&(chkStr.length()>13)) { for(int i=0;i<chkArray.length;i++) { ch=chkArray[i]; if((ch=='0')||(ch=='1')||(ch=='2')||(ch=='3')||(ch=='4')||(ch=='5')||(ch=='6')||(ch=='7')||(ch=='8')||(ch=='9')) { chk=0; continue; } else { chk=1; break; } } if(chk==0) System.out.println("\n"+ chkStr); } } } public static void main(String args[]) throws FileNotFoundException { parse2 P = new parse2(); P.traverse("C:/Documents and Settings/h4d35/Desktop/javatest/chk"); } }

  • Implement OAuth in Java

    - by phineas
    I made an an attempt to implement OAuth for my programming idea in Java, but I failed miserably. I don't know why, but my code doesn't work. • Receiving POST data in ASP.NET

  • Unable to start ServiceIntent android

    - by Mj1992
    I don't know why my service class is not working although it was working fine before. I've the following service class. public class MyIntentService extends IntentService { private static PowerManager.WakeLock sWakeLock; private static final Object LOCK = MyIntentService.class; public MyIntentService() { super("MuazzamService"); } @Override protected void onHandleIntent(Intent intent) { try { String action = intent.getAction(); <-- breakpoint if (action.equals("com.google.android.c2dm.intent.REGISTRATION")) <-- passes by { handleRegistration(intent); } else if (action.equals("com.google.android.c2dm.intent.RECEIVE")) { handleMessage(intent); } } finally { synchronized(LOCK) { sWakeLock.release(); } } } private void handleRegistration(Intent intent) { try { String registrationId = intent.getStringExtra("registration_id"); String error = intent.getStringExtra("error"); String unregistered = intent.getStringExtra("unregistered"); if (registrationId != null) { this.SendRegistrationIDViaHttp(registrationId); Log.i("Regid",registrationId); } if (unregistered != null) {} if (error != null) { if ("SERVICE_NOT_AVAILABLE".equals(error)) { Log.e("ServiceNoAvail",error); } else { Log.i("Error In Recieveing regid", "Received error: " + error); } } } catch(Exception e) { Log.e("ErrorHai(MIS0)",e.toString()); e.printStackTrace(); } } private void SendRegistrationIDViaHttp(String regID) { HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); try { HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet("http://10.116.27.107/php/GCM/AndroidRequest.php?registrationID="+regID+"&[email protected]"); //test purposes k liye muazzam HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httpget); HttpEntity entity=response.getEntity(); if(entity!=null) { InputStream inputStream=entity.getContent(); String result= convertStreamToString(inputStream); Log.i("finalAnswer",result); // Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),regID, Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { Log.e("errorhai",e.getMessage()); e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("errorhai",e.getMessage()); e.printStackTrace(); } } private static String convertStreamToString(InputStream is) { BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is)); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); String line = null; try { while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) { sb.append(line + "\n"); } } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("ErrorHai(MIS)",e.toString()); e.printStackTrace(); } finally { try { is.close(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("ErrorHai(MIS2)",e.toString()); e.printStackTrace(); } } return sb.toString(); } private void handleMessage(Intent intent) { try { String score = intent.getStringExtra("score"); String time = intent.getStringExtra("time"); Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "hjhhjjhjhjh", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); Log.e("GetExtraScore",score.toString()); Log.e("GetExtratime",time.toString()); } catch(NullPointerException e) { Log.e("je bat",e.getMessage()); } } static void runIntentInService(Context context,Intent intent){ synchronized(LOCK) { if (sWakeLock == null) { PowerManager pm = (PowerManager) context.getSystemService(Context.POWER_SERVICE); sWakeLock = pm.newWakeLock(PowerManager.PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK, "my_wakelock"); } } sWakeLock.acquire(); intent.setClassName(context, MyIntentService.class.getName()); context.startService(intent); } } and here's how I am calling the service as mentioned in the android docs. Intent registrationIntent = new Intent("com.google.android.c2dm.intent.REGISTER"); registrationIntent.putExtra("app", PendingIntent.getBroadcast(this, 0, new Intent(), 0)); registrationIntent.putExtra("sender",Sender_ID); startService(registrationIntent); I've declared the service in the manifest file inside the application tag. <service android:name="com.pack.gcm.MyIntentService" android:enabled="true"/> I placed a breakpoint in my IntentService class but it never goes there.But if I declare my registrationIntent like this Intent registrationIntent = new Intent(getApplicationContext(),com.pack.gcm.MyIntentService); It works and goes to the breakpoint I've placed but intent.getAction() contains null and hence it doesn't go into the if condition placed after those lines. It says 07-08 02:10:03.755: W/ActivityManager(60): Unable to start service Intent { act=com.google.android.c2dm.intent.REGISTER (has extras) }: not found in the logcat.

  • How to deploy a visual studio custom tool?

    - by Aen Sidhe
    Hello. I have a my own custom tool for Visual Studio 2008 SP1. It consists of 5 assemblies: 3 assemblies with code that used heavily in my other projects, 1 assembly-wrapper above VS2008 SDK and assembly with the tool. If I'd debug my tool from visual studio, using "Run external program" option with command line "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" and arguments "/ranu /rootsuffix Exp" all work perfectly. After that I trying to deploy it to my working VS copy, not to experimental hive doing: gacutil /i Asm1.dll for all my assemblies and doing RegAsm Asm1.dll only for assembly with custom tool. Neither of utils prints any error, all work as planned, even registry keys appeared. But my tool don't work even after PC restart. What did I do wrong? • Session state provider and global.asax not interacting properly?

    - by yodaj007
    I'm experimenting with creating a crude, proof-of-concept session state store provider in ASP.Net. But I've got a problem and I'm not sure what to do about it. The website works properly when using the InProc provider. The Session_Start in global.asax is called on session creation as it should. But not if I implement my own provider. The Session_Start method from global.asax isn't being called at all if a new session is being created (that is, I delete the session state file). Am I missing something important here? public class TestSessionProvider : SessionStateStoreProviderBase { private const string ROOT = "c:\\projects\\sessions\\"; private const int TIMEOUT_MINUTES = 30; public string ApplicationName { get { return HostingEnvironment.ApplicationVirtualPath; } } private string GetFilename(string id) { string filename = String.Format("{0}_{1}.session", ApplicationName, id); char[] invalids = Path.GetInvalidPathChars(); for (int i = 0; i < invalids.Length; i++) { filename = filename.Replace(invalids[i], '_'); } return Path.Combine(ROOT, Path.GetFileName(filename)); } public override void Initialize(string name, NameValueCollection config) { if (config == null) throw new ArgumentNullException("config"); if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(name)) name = "Sporkalicious"; base.Initialize(name, config); } public override SessionStateStoreData CreateNewStoreData(HttpContext context, int timeout) { SessionStateItemCollection items = new SessionStateItemCollection(); HttpStaticObjectsCollection objects = SessionStateUtility.GetSessionStaticObjects(context); return new SessionStateStoreData(items, objects, TIMEOUT_MINUTES); } /// <summary> /// The CreateUninitializedItem method is used with cookieless sessions when the regenerateExpiredSessionId /// attribute is set to true, which causes SessionStateModule to generate a new SessionID value when an /// expired session ID is encountered. /// </summary> /// <param name="context"></param> /// <param name="id"></param> /// <param name="timeout"></param> public override void CreateUninitializedItem(HttpContext context, string id, int timeout) { FileStream fs = File.Open(GetFilename(id), FileMode.CreateNew, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.None); BinaryWriter writer = new BinaryWriter(fs); SessionStateItemCollection coll = new SessionStateItemCollection(); coll.Serialize(writer); fs.Flush(); fs.Close(); } public override SessionStateStoreData GetItem(HttpContext context, string id, out bool locked, out TimeSpan lockAge, out object lockId, out SessionStateActions actions) { return GetItemExclusive(context, id, out locked, out lockAge, out lockId, out actions); } public override SessionStateStoreData GetItemExclusive(HttpContext context, string id, out bool locked, out TimeSpan lockAge, out object lockId, out SessionStateActions actions) { locked = false; lockAge = TimeSpan.FromDays(1); lockId = 0; actions = SessionStateActions.None; if (!File.Exists(GetFilename(id))) { return null; } FileStream fs = File.Open(GetFilename(id), FileMode.Open, FileAccess.ReadWrite, FileShare.Read); BinaryReader reader = new BinaryReader(fs); SessionStateItemCollection coll = SessionStateItemCollection.Deserialize(reader); fs.Close(); return new SessionStateStoreData(coll, new HttpStaticObjectsCollection(), TIMEOUT_MINUTES); } public override void ReleaseItemExclusive(HttpContext context, string id, object lockId) { } public override void RemoveItem(HttpContext context, string id, object lockId, SessionStateStoreData item) { File.Delete(GetFilename(id)); } public override void ResetItemTimeout(HttpContext context, string id) { } public override void SetAndReleaseItemExclusive(HttpContext context, string id, SessionStateStoreData item, object lockId, bool newItem) { if (!File.Exists(GetFilename(id))) { CreateUninitializedItem(context, id, 10); } FileStream fs = File.Open(GetFilename(id), FileMode.Truncate, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.None); BinaryWriter writer = new BinaryWriter(fs); SessionStateItemCollection coll = (SessionStateItemCollection)item.Items; coll.Serialize(writer); fs.Flush(); fs.Close(); } public override bool SetItemExpireCallback(SessionStateItemExpireCallback expireCallback) { return false; } public override void InitializeRequest(HttpContext context){} public override void EndRequest(HttpContext context){} public override void Dispose(){} }

  • Lock free multiple readers single writer

    - by dummzeuch
    I have got an in memory data structure that is read by multiple threads and written by only one thread. Currently I am using a critical section to make this access threadsafe. Unfortunately this has the effect of blocking readers even though only another reader is accessing it. There are two options to remedy this: use TMultiReadExclusiveWriteSynchronizer do away with any blocking by using a lock free approach For 2. I have got the following so far (any code that doesn't matter has been left out): type TDataManager = class private FAccessCount: integer; FData: TDataClass; public procedure Read(out _Some: integer; out _Data: double); procedure Write(_Some: integer; _Data: double); end; procedure TDataManager.Read(out _Some: integer; out _Data: double); var Data: TDAtaClass; begin InterlockedIncrement(FAccessCount); try // make sure we get both values from the same TDataClass instance Data := FData; // read the actual data _Some := Data.Some; _Data := Data.Data; finally InterlockedDecrement(FAccessCount); end; end; procedure TDataManager.Write(_Some: integer; _Data: double); var NewData: TDataClass; OldData: TDataClass; ReaderCount: integer; begin NewData := TDataClass.Create(_Some, _Data); InterlockedIncrement(FAccessCount); OldData := TDataClass(InterlockedExchange(integer(FData), integer(NewData)); // now FData points to the new instance but there might still be // readers that got the old one before we exchanged it. ReaderCount := InterlockedDecrement(FAccessCount); if ReaderCount = 0 then // no active readers, so we can safely free the old instance FreeAndNil(OldData) else begin /// here is the problem end; end; Unfortunately there is the small problem of getting rid of the OldData instance after it has been replaced. If no other thread is currently within the Read method (ReaderCount=0), it can safely be disposed and that's it. But what can I do if that's not the case? I could just store it until the next call and dispose it there, but Windows scheduling could in theory let a reader thread sleep while it is within the Read method and still has got a reference to OldData. If you see any other problem with the above code, please tell me about it. This is to be run on computers with multiple cores and the above methods are to be called very frequently. In case this matters: I am using Delphi 2007 with the builtin memory manager. I am aware that the memory manager probably enforces some lock anyway when creating a new class but I want to ignore that for the moment. Edit: It may not have been clear from the above: For the full lifetime of the TDataManager object there is only one thread that writes to the data, not several that might compete for write access. So this is a special case of MREW.

  • String from Httpresponse not passing full value.

    - by Shekhar_Pro
    HI i am in desperate need for help here, I am making a web request and getting a json string with Response.ContentLenth=2246 but when i parse it in a string it gives only few 100 characters, i traked it down that it is only getting values less than 964. strings length is still 2246 but remaining values are just (\0) null characters. Its also giving an error Unterminated string passed in. (2246): at following line FacebookFeed feed = sr.Deserialize<FacebookFeed>(data); It works fine if the response stream contains characters less than 964 chars. • How to manipulate data after its retrieved via remote database

    - by bMon
    So I've used code examples from all over the net and got my app to accurately call a .php file on my server, retrieve the JSON data, then parse the data, and print it. The problem is that its just printing to the screen for sake of the tutorial I was following, but now I need to use that data in other places and need help figuring out that process. The ultimate goal is to return my db query with map coordinates, then plot them on a google map. I have another app in which I manually plot points on a map, so I'll be integrating this app with that once I can get my head around how to correctly manipulate the data returned. public class Remote extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ TextView txt; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); // Create a crude view - this should really be set via the layout resources // but since its an example saves declaring them in the XML. LinearLayout rootLayout = new LinearLayout(getApplicationContext()); txt = new TextView(getApplicationContext()); rootLayout.addView(txt); setContentView(rootLayout); // Set the text and call the connect function. txt.setText("Connecting..."); //call the method to run the data retreival txt.setText(getServerData(KEY_121)); } public static final String KEY_121 = "http://example.com/mydbcall.php"; private String getServerData(String returnString) { InputStream is = null; String result = ""; //the year data to send //ArrayList<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); //nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("year","1970")); try{ HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost(KEY_121); HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); is = entity.getContent(); }catch(Exception e){ Log.e("log_tag", "Error in http connection "+e.toString()); } //convert response to string try{ BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is,"iso-8859-1"),8); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); String line = null; while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) { sb.append(line + "\n"); } is.close(); result=sb.toString(); }catch(Exception e){ Log.e("log_tag", "Error converting result "+e.toString()); } //parse json data try{ JSONArray jArray = new JSONArray(result); for(int i=0;i<jArray.length();i++){ JSONObject json_data = jArray.getJSONObject(i); Log.i("log_tag","longitude: "+json_data.getDouble("longitude")+ ", latitude: "+json_data.getDouble("latitude") ); //Get an output to the screen returnString += "\n\t" + jArray.getJSONObject(i); } }catch(JSONException e){ Log.e("log_tag", "Error parsing data "+e.toString()); } return returnString; } } So the code: returnString += "\n\t" + jArray.getJSONObject(i); is what is currently printing to the screen. What I have to figure out is how to get the data into something I can reference in other spots in the program, and access the individual elements ie: double longitude = jArray.getJSONObject(3).longitude; or something to that effect.. I figure the class getServerData will have to return a Array type or something? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
