• Excel validation range limits

  When Excel saves a file, it attempts to combine identical Validation settings into a single rule with multiple ranges. This creates one of three issues, depending on the file type you choose to save: When saving as a standard Excel file (Office 2000 BIFF), a maximum of 1024 non-contiguous ranges that can have the same validation setting. When saving as a SpreadsheetML (Office 2002/2003 XML) file, you are limited to the number of non-contiguous ranges that can be represented, comma-delimited in R1C1 format, in 1024 characters. When saving as an Open Office XML (Office 2007 *.xlsx), there is a maximum of 511 non-contiguous ranges that can have the same validation setting. (I don't have Office 2007, I'm using the file converter for Office 2003). Once you bust any of these limits, the remaining ranges with the same Validation settings have their Validation settings wiped. For (1) and (3), Excel warns you that it can't save all of the formatting, but for (2) it does not.

  I am looking for a simple Textmate bundle that will do the following two tasks in order: Delete the entire contents (including folders) of a directory (eg. ~/Sites/my_site). Run the jekyll command in the directory of the Textmate project. I am going to associate this with a "save current file" and use it to auto build my Jekyll site into the specified directory each time I save a file inside the project. Notes If #2 isn't possible, then cd into a specified directory and run the jekyll command. Would prefer bash or ruby.

  I want to do some kind of image editor, after I upload more images I want to make a list with all the thumbnails! After, I want to be able to click on one thumb and rotate, duplicate, drag and drop (to change positions of the images), and delete the image. I want all the images to be in a php array. If an image is deleted I want to delete the row from array too. If a image is drag-and-dropped I want to change the position in the array too. Ok, after the user uploads all the images and modifies some of them, how can I make a DONE button to save the positions of the images? For this small project how do you suggest I save the images? (to make a table in mysql and store the names of the images in the database depending on the session id? depending on the IP?) Any suggestions are welcome!

  I have a UILable that has a formatted String (formatted for currency), so there is a dollar sign, $21.34.   First I will explain the context of the problem, because you might be able to point me in a better direction. I need to implement a undo-redo like system on an object. The object has a series of dependency properties. Some are double, int, string but some are also of DependencyObject type. I need to save the value of the property before it is changed, and for this I added the CoerceValueCallback. public static readonly DependencyProperty MyBackgroundProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("MyBackground", typeof(MyCustomizableBackground), typeof(MyComponent), new UIPropertyMetadata(default(MyCustomizableBackground), null, new CoerceValueCallback(OnPropertyChanged))); In OnPropertyChanged I save the value before it's changed. MyCustomizableBackground is the DependencyObject that has also some dependency properties. The problem is that in this case, where I have a custom object as a property, the OnPropertyChanged method isn't triggered, but when I have a common type, it is triggered.

  There is a website I am trying to pull information from in perl, however the section of the page I need is being generated using javascript so all you see in the source is <div id="results"></div> I need to somehow pull out the contents of that div and save it to a file using perl/proxies/whatever. e.g. the information I want to save would be document.getElementById('results').innerHTML; I am not sure if this is possible or if anyone had any ideas or a way to do this. I was using a lynx source dump for other pages but since I cant straight forward screen scrape this page I came here to ask about it! • How can I determine file encodings on Windows / IIS ?

  From the answers to this question it appears there's a file somewhere on our server that's been saved with the wrong encoding. I've seen this happen before - most often when pasting from Word into Visual Studio, when "smart quotes" can interfere with Visual Studio's encoding settings when saving the file. Thing is - the problem I'm having involves 20-30 different script files, include files and so on (hey, that was how we kept it modular back in the day...) and I really don't want to open every one of them in Visual Studio and check the file encodings individually. Is there any way I can analyze a folder tree full of files and spit out a list of each filename along with the text encoding used to save the file? (Or - if encodings aren't clearly specified - work out what encoding Microsoft IIS thinks was used to save the file?)

  Hello, I'm trying to save blob data from a SQLite database (Safari cache: Cache.db) to a file, but for some reason sqlite won't read the whole blob. I eventually would like to do this in ruby, but for now something that works directly in sqlite command prompt is fine. Also, I've read all of the entries that talk about this here on stackoverflow, but most of them only discuss the performance of saving images in blobs and the one entry that does show to save blobs to file is in C# which does not help me. • Draw text on a loaded pdf file with Zend Framework

  Hello, I'm trying to load a existing pdf file, and fill this with database information. Loading the file and everything is working, except for writing data to the loaded page. It doesn't write text to the loaded page. If I add a new page en use a foreach to apply drawing to all pages, all added pages are written, except for the loaded one.   I have an user control. I add dynamicly control to this control on its Page Init. This user control's parent Page's every postback, its page init works fine. After I added an different user control to Page. In Second User control, user select photos and uploads them with asyncfileupload control(AJAX). And I save all of them with a button at the end of Page. In EveryPostBack Parent Page Load event works. If I dont select any photo from Second User Control, First User Control's Page Init event works fine when I click Save Button. But if I select a photo, first User Control dont work. What is the problem?

  Hello, I am looking for some help autosaving tinyMCE. I want to save the content within tiny into its respective textarea after content has been updated. So that when I make an ajax call the content is in the textarea ready to be posted. Currently I have this little bit of code but it only updates the text area when you press a button in tiny (like bold, italics, underline, etc). I also have the link where I found the code. • Preserving Bitmap values when creating a new Bitmap from System.Drawing.Image

  I'm trying to create a resized image from a bitmap, set a new height/width and a new resolution and save it to PNG. I can do this either from directly A) Image.FromFile(filename) or B) New Bitmap(imageSource) to create the the A Bitmap to be passed to B. Both work okay schmokay, but A does not allow me to set a new width/height on creation (but it does allow me to preserve values with useIcm=True) and B does not allow me to preseve values. Okay, now on to some code and examples: Dim sourceBitmap As New Bitmap(imagePath & myImage1Name) <-not good at all (#1 overload). Doesn't preserve things like HorizontalResolution or PixelFormat on .Save Dim sourceBitmap2 As Bitmap = Image.FromFile(imagePath & myImage1Name, True) <-not good (#5 overload). it does preserve things like HorizontalResolution or PixelFormat on .Save, but it doesn't allow me to initialize image at a new size. Dim targetBitmap As New Bitmap(sourceBitmap2, newWidth, newHeight) <-not good. Even though sourceBitmap2 (see #2 above) was initialized with useIcm=True, it doesn't matter once I've passed it in as the source in targetBitmap. Basically, I'm looking for a way to contruct a New Bitmap with both something like useIcm=True and set the width/height at the same time (Width/Height are read-only properties once it's created). I've gone down the Graphics.DrawImage route as well and it's the same - Graphics.FromImage(sourceBitmap) does not preserve values. Why do I need these values to be preserved? Because I need to convert these pictures to PNG (for file size) with a new resolution and keep the same physical dimensions (w/h in inches) for printing. I know the new pixel width/height needed based on the resolution values I'll pass in with .SetResolution(xDpi,yDpi) to preserve physical dimensions, so that's not the problem. The issue is things like the PixelFormatSize need to remain unchanged (yes, I've tried EncoderParameters - they don't work. I can give you the gory details if you like, but suffice it to say for now, they just don't work). Whew, got that off my chest! Okay, anyone who really knows how all this works can help?

• Can I get a bitmap of an arbitrary window in another application process?

  I am trying to automate a third-party Win32 application where I want to capture the graphics content of a particular window at defined time intervals. I am in the early phases of this, and I'm currently trying to use the Microsoft UI Automation API via C# to do most of the interaction between my client app and the external app. I can now get the external app to do what I want it to do, but now I want to capture the graphics from a specific window that seems to be some third-party owner-drawn control. How can I do this? I want to mark points on a map (say, in Google Maps) and then store the resulting polygon in the database. Is there any way to do it that will save me the work of typing all the longitudes and latitudes manually? I'm looking to restore all previously open buffers, some of which might contain erc, shells, directory listings, files, etc. Every time I open emacs, I spend a considerable amount of time arranging my buffers; splitting them into rows and columns, opening a shell, arranging irc channels. It takes a while to get onto work. I've tried adding the following to my init.el (desktop-save-mode 1) And then using M-x desktop-save. This only seems to restore files that are open, not shells or anything else running within buffers. And read through: DeskTop and EmacsSession at emacswiki.org/emacs/SessionManagement Here's a screenshot example of my emacs session. A simple answer would be to just focus on real work :P

• How do I find the "concrete class" of a django model baseclass

  I'm trying to find the actual class of a django-model object, when using model-inheritance. Some code to describe the problem: class Base(models.model): def basemethod(self): ... class Child_1(Base): pass class Child_2(Base): pass If I create various objects of the two Child classes and the create a queryset containing them all: Child_1().save() Child_2().save() (o1, o2) = Base.objects.all() I want to determine if the object is of type Child_1 or Child_2 in basemethod, I can get to the child object via o1.child_1 and o2.child_2 but that reconquers knowledge about the childclasses in the baseclass. I have come up with the following code: def concrete_instance(self): instance = None for subclass in self._meta.get_all_related_objects(): acc_name = subclass.get_accessor_name() try: instance = self.__getattribute__(acc_name) return instance except Exception, e: pass But it feels brittle and I'm not sure of what happens when if I inherit in more levels.
