• Multibinding File-Paths into a Button ControlTemplate

  I am trying to develop an application that uses a number of images that are stored in a seperate remote file location. The file-paths to the UI elements are stored within the Application Settings. Although I understand how to access the images from Applications Settings using a MultiBinding and a value converter, I'm not sure how to integrate the Multibinding into the ImageButton ControlTemplate below. • How optimize code with introspection + heavy alloc on iPhone

  I have a problem. I try to display a UITable that could have 2000-20000 records (typicall numbers.) I have a SQLite database similar to the Apple contacts application. I do all the tricks I know to get a smoth scroll, but I have a problem. I load the data in 50 recods blocks. Then, when the user scroll, request next 50 until finish the list. However, load that 50 records cause a notable "pause" in loading and scrolling. Everything else works fine. I cache the data, have opaque cells, draw it by code, etc... I swap the code loading the same data in dicts and have a performance boost but wonder if I could keep my object oriented aproach and improve the actual code.   Hello, I am working with Silverlight 3 beta, and am having an issue. I have a page that has a user control that I worte on it. The user control has a dependency property on it. If the user control does not define a data context (hence using the parent's data context), all works well. But if the user control has its own data context, the dependency property's OnPropertyChanged method never gets called. • Using rounded corners in modern websites with CSS3

I think this is the feature that is most required in the new modern websites.Most websites look great with their lovely round panels and rounded corner tab style menus. We could achieve that effect earlier but we should resort to complex CSS rules and images. I will show you how to accomplish this great feature with the power of CSS 3.We will not use Javascript.Javascript is required for IE 7, IE 8 and the notorious IE 6. The best solution for implementing corners using CSS and Javascript without using images is Nifty corners cube. There are detailed information how to achieve this in the link I provided. This solution is tested in earlier vesrions of IE (IE 6,IE 7,IE 8) and Opera,Firefox,Safari. In order to be absolutely clear this is not (and could not be) a detailed tutorial on HTML 5. There are other great resources for that.Navigate to the excellent interactive tutorials of W3School.Another excellent resource is HTML 5 Doctor.Two very nice sites that show you what features and specifications are implemented by various browsers and their versions are http://caniuse.com/ and http://html5test.com/. At this times Chrome seems to support most of HTML 5 specifications.Another excellent way to find out if the browser supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 features is to use the Javascript lightweight library Modernizr.In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like.You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition. • JFreeChart CategoryPlot overwrites categories

  Hi, I am new to using JFreeChart and I'm sure there is a simple solution to my problem . . PROBLEM: I have a chart that shows multiple "events types" along the date X axis. The Y axis shows the "event category". My problem is that only the latest date of an event type is shown for each category. In the example below The chart shows data points for Event Type 1 at June 20th(Category 1) and at June 10th (Category 2). I had also added a data point for June 10th, Category 1 but the June 20th point erases it. I think I am misunderstanding how the CategoryPlot is working. Am I using the wrong type of chart? I thought a scatter chart would be the ticket but it only accepts numerical values. I need to have discrete string categories on my Y-axis. If anyone can point me in the right direction, you would really make my day. Thanks for reading! -Christine (The code below works as-is.   Hello, My first post here. I want to make a horizontal menu with submenu's sliding down on mouseover. I know I could use jQuery but this is to practice my javascript skills. If i go now over menu B the interval applied to A is now applied to B. There are now 2 interval functions applied to B. The one originally for A and a new one triggered by the mouseover on B. If I would go to A all the intervals are now applied to A. I have been searching for hours but and I am completely stuck. Thanks in advance.

Looking inside page source code I see that the following div is outside forms tag: <div class="ui-widget-overlay" style="z-index: 1001; width: 1280px; height: 65089px;" jQuery1267345392312="20"/> If I set modal to false, the error doesn't happen. I think the problem is that the div working as modal is outside the form. What do you think?

• ListView: convertView / holder getting confused

  I'm working with a ListView, trying to get the convertView / referenceHolder optimisation to work properly but it's giving me trouble. (This is the system where you store the R.id.xxx pointers in as a tag for each View to avoid having to call findViewById). I have a ListView populated with simple rows of an ImageView and some text, but the ImageView can be formatted either for portrait-sized images (tall and narrow) or landscape-sized images (short and wide). It's adjusting this formatting for each row which isn't working as I had hoped. The basic system is that to begin with, it inflates the layout for each row and sets the ImageView's settings based on the data, and includes an int denoting the orientation in the tag containing the R.id.xxx values. Then when it starts reusing convertViews, it checks this saved orientation against the orientation of the new row. The theory then is that if the orientation is the same, then the ImageView should already be set up correctly. If it isn't, then it sets the parameters for the ImageView as appropriate and updates the tag. However, I found that it was somehow getting confused; sometimes the tag would get out of sync with the orientation of the ImageView. For example, the tag would still say portrait, but the actual ImageView would still be in landscape layout. I couldn't find a pattern to how or when this happened; it wasn't consistent by orientation, position in the list or speed of scrolling. I can solve the problem by simply removing the check about convertView's orientation and simply always set the ImageView's parameters, but that seems to defeat the purpose of this optimisation. • Silverlight: how to modify the width of ListBox Items in response to user input?

  I have a simple Silverlight 3 UserControl whose width increases or decreases based on user input. The controls become more wide or more narrow as desired, except for the ListBox items. The ListBox Items grow horizontally to fit their content regardless of HorizontalContentAlignment being set to 'Stretch'. Should I be able to set a property on ListBox.ItemContainerStyle to tell it to widen/narrow with the parent ListBox? There needs to be no horizontal scrolling within this Listbox. Or is there a way to specify the ItemTemplate's StackPanel width that can be modified at runtime? I have bound this to a StaticResource, but do not understand whether I should be able to change the resource value. Can I create and bind to a DependencyProperty of the UserControl itself? • Python RSS Feeder + Jquery RSS Reader

  I'm trying to implement an RSS Feeder in python using PyRSS2Gen and it created an XML file. Now in jQuery I'm using Google Ajax API's RSS reader and trying to read it. I get an error saying something is wrong. I'm unable to figure out the issue. I've checked some documentation but not able to get it. • uiscrollview not switching image subviews

  I'm building a comic viewer app, that consists of two view controllers, the root viewcontroller basically displays a view where a user decides what comic they want to read by pressing a button. The second viewController actually displays the comic as a uiscrollview with a toolbar and a title at the top. So the problem I am having is that the comic image panels themselves are not changing from whatever the first comic you go to if you select another comic after viewing the first one. The way I set it up, and I admit it's not exactly mvc, so please don't hate, anyway the way I set it up is each comic uiscrollview consists of x number of jpg images where each comic set's image names have a common prefix and then a number like 'funny1.jpg', 'funny2.jpg', 'funny3.jpg' and 'soda1.jpg', 'soda2.jpg', 'soda3.jpg', etc... so when a user selects a comic to view in the root controller it makes a call to the delegate and sets ivars on instances of the comicviewcontroller that belongs to the delegate (mainDelegate.comicViewController.property) I set the number of panels in that comic, the comic name for the title label, and the image prefix. The number of images changes(or at least the number that you can scroll through), and the title changes but for some reason the images are the same ones as whatever comic you clicked on initially. I'm basing this whole app off of the 'scrolling' code sample from apple. I thought if I added a viewWillAppear:(BOOL) animated call to the comicViewController everytime the user clicked the button that would fix it but it didn't, after all that is where the scrollview is laid out. • How to manage a MotionEvent going from one View to another?

  I have a SurfaceView that takes up part of the screen, and some buttons along the bottom. When a button is pressed and the user drags, I want to be able to drag a picture (based on the button) onto the SurfaceView and have it drawn there. I want to be able to use clickListeners and the like, and not just have a giant SurfaceView with me writing code to detect where the user pressed and if it's a button, etc. I have somewhat of a solution, but it seems a bit of a hack to me. What is the best way to accomplish this using the framework intelligently? If i go now over menu B the interval applied to A is now applied to B. There are now 2 interval functions applied to B. The one originally for A and a new one triggered by the mouseover on B. • Using a portable USB monitor in Ubuntu 13.04 (AOC e1649Fwu - DisplayLink)

  Having access to a little bit of IT hardware extravaganza isn't that easy here in Mauritius for exactly two reasons - either it is simply not available or it is expensive like nowhere. Well, by chance I came across an advert by a local hardware supplier and their offer of the week caught my attention - a portable USB monitor. Sounds cool, and the specs are okay as well. It's completely driven via USB 2.0, has a light weight, the dimensions would fit into my laptop bag and the resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels is okay for a second screen. Long story, short ending: I called them and only got to understand that they are out of stock - how convenient! Well, as usual I left some contact details and got the regular 'We call you back' answer. Surprisingly, I didn't receive a phone call as promised and after starting to complain via social media networks they finally came back to me with new units available - and *drum-roll* still the same price tag as promoted (and free delivery on top as one of their employees lives in Flic en Flac). Guess, it was a no-brainer to get at least one unit to fool around with. In worst case it might end up as image frame on the shelf or so... The usual suspects... Ubuntu first! Of course, the packing mentions only Windows or Mac OS as supported operating systems and without hesitation at all, I hooked up the device on my main machine running on Ubuntu 13.04. Result: Blackout... Hm, actually not the situation I was looking for but okay can't be too difficult to get this piece of hardware up and running. Following the output of syslogd (or dmesg if you prefer) the device has been recognised successfully but we got stuck in the initialisation phase. A quick and dirty research on the net gave me some hints towards the udlfb framebuffer device for USB DisplayLink devices. By default this kernel module is blacklisted $ less /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer.conf | grep udl#blacklist udlblacklist udlfb and it is recommended to load it manually. Display okay? Test run on Windows Just to be on the safe side and to exclude any hardware related defects or whatsoever - you never know what happened during delivery. I moved the display to a new position on the opposite side of my laptop, installed the display drivers first in Windows Vista (I know, I know...) as recommended in the manual, and then finally hooked it up on that machine. Tada! Display has been recognised correctly and I have a proper choice between cloning and extending my desktop. Testing whether the display is working properly - using Windows Vista Okay, good to know that there is nothing wrong on the hardware side just software... Back to Ubuntu - Kernel too old Some more research on Google and various hits recommend that the original displaylink driver has been merged into the recent kernel development and one should manually upgrade the kernel image (and both header) packages for Ubuntu. At least kernel 3.9 or higher would be necessary, and so I went out to this URL: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and I downloaded all the good stuff from the v3.9-raring directory. The installation itself is easy going via dpkg: $ sudo dpkg -i linux-image-3.9.0-030900-generic_3.9.0-030900.201304291257_amd64.deb$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.9.0-030900_3.9.0-030900.201304291257_all.deb$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.9.0-030900-generic_3.9.0-030900.201304291257_amd64.deb As with any kernel upgrades it is necessary to restart the system in order to use the new one. This can be done either via UI or console, just as you'd prefer it. Adding the external USB display under Linux isn't an issue after all... Settings Manager => Display Personally, I like the console. With the help of xrandr we get the screen identifier first $ xrandrScreen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3200 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm...DVI-0 connected 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm   1366x768       60.0*+ and then give it the usual shot with auto-configuration. Let the system decide what's best for your hardware... $ xrandr --output DVI-0 --off$ xrandr --output DVI-0 --auto And there we go... Cloned output of main display: New kernel, new display... The external USB display works out-of-the-box with a Linux kernel > 3.9.0. Despite of a good number of resources it is absolutely not necessary to create a Device or Screen section in one of Xorg.conf files. This information belongs to the past and is not valid on kernel 3.9 or higher. Same hardware but Windows 8 Of course, I wanted to know how the latest incarnation from Redmond would handle the new hardware... Flawless! Most interesting aspect here: I did not use the driver installation medium on purpose. And I was right... not too long afterwards a dialog with the EULA of DisplayLink appeared on the main screen. And after confirmation of same it took some more seconds and the external USB monitor was ready to rumble. Well, and not only that one... but see for yourself. This time Windows 8 was the easiest solution after all. Resume I can highly recommend this type of hardware to anyone asking me. Although, it's dimensions are 15.6" it is actually lighter than my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it still fits into my laptop bag without any issues. From now on... no more single screen while developing software on the road!
