    So you have used XML to give you some schema flexibility in your database, but now you need to get some data out.  What do you do?  The solution is relatively  simple:   DECLARE @iDoc INT /* Stores a pointer to the XML document */ DECLARE @XML VARCHAR(MAX) /* Stores the content of the XML */   set @XML = (SELECT top 1 Xml_Column_Name FROM My_Table where Primary_Key_Column = 'Some Value')   EXEC sp_xml_preparedocument @iDoc OUTPUT, @XML   SELECT * FROM OPENXML(@iDoc,'/some/valid/xpath',2)                      WITH (output_column1_name varchar(50)  'xml_node_name1',                                                     output_column2_name varchar(50)  'xml_node_name2')   EXEC sp_xml_removedocument @iDoc   In this example, the XML data would look something like this:   <some>   <valid>     <xpath>       <xml_node_name1>Value1</xml_node_name1>       <xml_node_name2>Value2</cml_node_name2>     </xpath>   </valid> </some>   The resulting query should give you this:   output_column1_name    output_column2_name ------------------------------------------ Value1                 Value2   Note that in this example we are only looking at a single record at a time.  You could use a cursor to iterate through multiple records and insert the XML data into a temporary table.

  • What are some non-MS languages that can write xlsx (Excel 2007+) documents efficiently?

    Unfortunately, Excel format is required for the project I am working on. I have no problems getting the data I need in objects and arrays, and currently PHPExcel is doing handling the document generation. It works, but it's slow and loopy. Was wondering if there is a more efficient server language to generate Excel documents (not CSVs). This is a pure Linux environment so I need to stay away from .NET. I am open to any programming language that does it cleanly and efficiently. Thanks.

  • Question about modeling with MVC (the pattern, not the MS stuff / non web)

    I'm working on an application in which I'm looking to employ the MVC pattern, but I've come up against a design decision point I could use some help with. My application is going to deal with the design of state-machines. Currently the MVC model holds information about the machine's states, inputs, outputs, etc. The view is going to show a diagram for the machine, graphically allowing the user to add new states, establish transitions, and put the states in a pleasing arrangement, among other things. I would like to store part of the diagram's state (e.g. the x and y state positions) when the machine information is stored for later retrieval, and am wondering how best to go about structuring the model(s?) for this. It seems like this UI information is more closely related to the view than to the state-machine model, so I was thinking that a secondary model might be in order, but I am reluctant to pursue this route because of the added complexity. Adding this information to the current model doesn't seem the right way to go about it either. This is the my first time using the MVC pattern so I'm still figuring things out. Any input would be appreciated.

    I have a programming background in php/python/java for 5 years and I know MySQL and PostgreSQL. Currently in our company the MSQL Business Intelligence person is leaving his job in 4 months. I am thinking of trying to go to his place, at least try as I want to move in Business Intelligence field in SSRS and SSIS. I just want to know that is it possible for me to get my head around those things in 4 months because I have no idea how they work and how hard it will be for me to pick up those things. Can I do that? I just want to know from experienced people if I can move towards that field? At least how should I start? In my area there are shortages of person, so once I know the stuff I can get into junior jobs easily but I want to know from experienced people.

  • How to draw a texture to a MS Terrain object - Farseer

    I'm using Farseer to make a game in XNA and I can't seem to figure this out. I've decided to use MSTerrain for making my game's terrain because I wanted destructible terrain and MSTerrain seemed like the best bet. Unfortunately, I'm stumped on how to actually show the terrain. When I generate the terrain it's visible in debug view, but MSTerrain does not have a Draw method, so I'm wondering how it is supposed to be drawn to the screen? Is it worth pursuing? I'm starting to think that MSTerrain is more trouble than it's worth, is there another better way to do this with bodies? I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

  • MS SQL : Can you help me with this query?

    I want to run a diagnostic report on our MS SQL 2008 database server. I am looping through all of the databases, and then for each database, I want to look at each table. But, when I go to look at each table (with tbl_cursor), it always picks up the tables in the database 'master'.   • How can you connect to a password protected MS Access Database from a Spring JdbcTemplate?

    I need to connect to a password protected MS Access 2003 DB using the JDBC-ODBC bridge. I can't find out how to specify the password in the connect string, or even if that is the correct method of connecting. It would probably be relevant to mention that this is a Spring App which is accessing the database through a JdbcTemplate configured as a datasource bean in our application context file. Fully-Qualified-User-Name = company.com/CorpUsers/AU/My Name NAS-IP-Address = 10.1.1.1 NAS-Identifier = <not present> Called-Station-Identifier = <not present> Calling-Station-Identifier = <not present> Client-Friendly-Name = ASA5510 Client-IP-Address = 10.1.1.1 NAS-Port-Type = Virtual NAS-Port = 7 Proxy-Policy-Name = Use Windows authentication for all users Authentication-Provider = Windows Authentication-Server = <undetermined> Policy-Name = VPN Authentication Authentication-Type = PAP EAP-Type = <undetermined> Reason-Code = 66 Reason = The user attempted to use an authentication method that is not enabled on the matching remote access policy. My assumption is that the ASA is using PAP authentication, instead of MS-CHAP v2; the credentials are confirmed, the proper Remote Access Policy is being used, but this policy is set to only allow MS-CHAP2. What do we need to do on the ASA to make it us MS-CHAP v2? In the ADSM GUI The "Microsoft CHAP v2 compatible" tickbox is enabled, but I don't know what this corresponds to in the config.

I have one share definition for 3 client (A,B,C) This share contain some excel file which having a lot of formula and linked each other. Client A access the file with libre office (ubuntu), client B access with WinXP & MS Office 2003, The write and read process working successfuly on Both of them. The problem occur when client C accessing the same file with MS Excel 2003 (windows xp). This messagebox appear when he saving the file : Microsoft office excel cannot access the \\192.168.1.23\myshare\ There are several possible reasons: - The File ort path does not exist The file is being used by another program. - The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a - Currently open workbooks. I was trying http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291204 but it didnt work.   • MS SQL to MySQL using MySQL Migration Toolkit: permission issue

    I have a MS SQL imported into SQL Server 2008 from a .bak and I set it to Mixed mode. I have a SQL user (called "test") that can correctly access the database using SQL Server. I need to convert this to a MySQL database, so I got the MySQL Migration Toolkit. I pick "MS SQL Server" and then it asks for the hostname/username/password/database. I'm not 100% sure on these, but I used "localhost" (running on same computer), left the port as is (1433) and the username/password ("test") for the SQL Server. And I used the database name for the SQL Server database I'm looking to import. I clicked next, enter my MySQL database details and then attempt to run it and I get this error: Connecting to source database and retrieve schemata names. Initializing JDBC driver ...
