• Which cms or script for social network wiki?

  Hi, I am building a social network. I need a cms that will allow users to contribute content. Each content item will need to have a google map, list of features, ratings, comments, etc. And the content must be editable by other users with revision control. Also, each user should have a profile with their bookmarked content items, contributed items, comments, etc. It's very important that I can create a template for the wiki/content entries so that each item looks uniform. (and as a kick in the teeth, I would like to be able to search for wiki items using a radial search or map) Joomla was my first choice, as I've used it for many projects, but the wiki functionality is not there. I was also setting up a grou.ps site, but the wiki is so-so - not feature rich and it really doesn't have the option I need. Additionally, I know someone out there will mention Drupal. I may consider it if I can see it put to use without and overabundance of custom programming (I don't mind initial coding, but drupal requires constant coding & recoding - with this site, I dont' have that time commitment) I thought about using mediawiki with buddypress, but i'm not sure if that's the way to go. Thoughts?

• drupal hook_menu_alter() for adding tabs

  I want to add some tabs in the "node/%/edit" page from my module called "cssswitch". When I click "Rebuild Menus", the two new tabs are displayed, but they are displayed for ALL nodes when editing them, not just for the node "cssswitch". I want these new tabs to be displayed only when editing node of type "cssswitch". The other problem is when I clear all cache, the tabs completely dissapear from all edit pages.   Pre .net I was using MFC, ON_UPDATE_COMMAND_UI, and the CCmdUI class to update the state of my windows UI. From the older MFC/Win32 reference: Typically, menu items and toolbar buttons have more than one state. For example, a menu item is grayed (dimmed) if it is unavailable in the present context. Menu items can also be checked or unchecked. A toolbar button can also be disabled if unavailable, or it can be checked. Who updates the state of these items as program conditions change? Logically, if a menu item generates a command that is handled by, say, a document, it makes sense to have the document update the menu item. The document probably contains the information on which the update is based. If a command has multiple user-interface objects (perhaps a menu item and a toolbar button), both are routed to the same handler function. This encapsulates your user-interface update code for all of the equivalent user-interface objects in a single place. The framework provides a convenient interface for automatically updating user-interface objects. You can choose to do the updating in some other way, but the interface provided is efficient and easy to use. What is the guidance for .net Windows Forms? I am using an Application.Idle handler in the main form but am not sure this is the best way to do this. About the time I put all my UI updates in the Idle event handler my app started to show some performance problems, and I don't have the metrics to track this down yet. Not sure if it's related.

• Why would the same web form control render different "onclick" logic based on the page structure?

  It was hard to title this question. :) I have a user control that is used to display a list of lookup items in my database and a delete button for each item (Editor User Control below). The delete button has an onClientClick event used to display a confirmation dialog in JavaScript. On page one, the confirmation pops up and functions correctly. The overall structure is: Master Page Page Editor User Control List of items with delete button On page two, the confirmation pops up but regardless of the answer, the page posts back anyway. The structure of this page is: Master Page Page User Control Editor User Control List of items with delete button For some reason, this makes a difference in how the delete button is rendered. • Windows 7 Mobile ListBox uncustomizable?

  I've just recently started development using Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone and I put in a ListBox. I can't seem to manipulate the formatting. No matter what I do, the background is black/gray, the selected items have a blue border, and there is padding between the items in the listbox (i'm using images). • How can manage a FIFO-queue in an database with SQL?

  I have two tables in my database, one for In and one for Out. They have two columns, Quantity and Price. How can I write a SQL-query that selects the correct price? In example: If I have 3 items in for 75 and then 3 items in for 80. Then I have two out for 75, and the third out should be for 75 (X) and the fourth out should be for 80 (Y). How can I write the price query for X and Y? They should use the price from the third and forth row. In example, is there any way to SELECT the third row in the In-table? I can not use auto_increment as identifier for i.e. "third" row, because the tables will contain post for other items too. The rows will not be deleted, they will be saved for accountability reasons.   Hello i have a list view control, While the form is being loaded i fill the list, i have aprrox. say 100+ items. While filling i check some parameters and decide which item/row need to be selected. i set the Selected property to true... refer the code below: some lines here ..... ListViewItem listViewItem = new ListViewItem("COL1"); listViewItem.SubItems.Add("COL2"); check for some condition and then listViewItem.Selected = true; this.m_lstViewCtrl.Items.Add(listViewItem); This does select the item, there are no issues with it... however, say the ctrl is sized to see onlu say some 15 items, but the selection is say some 35th item.... currently the scroll bar appears the item is selected but i have to scroll to see what was selected? is it possible to scroll to the selected item so that is selection is clearly visible... Will the same apply for a Treeview?

• how do I hide certain part of form

  I have a form and it contains dropdown box and different div items. Based on selection from dropdown box, I show those div items. But some of the text in those div items are shown when the form is loaded and not when I select the option from dropdown box.   I have been struggling with a problem in Rails for a couple of days and still could not find the solution. Could you help me with that? Problem: I have a search box that puts a :search_string entry in the params structure. I use a form_tag for that and it works fine. <% form_tag :controller=> 'items', :action => 'find' do %> <%= text_field_tag :search_string, params[:search_string] %> <% end %> The problem is when I want to add and update other params key-value (in another view), for instance :start_date, to filter the search_string result. • Transaction within a Transaction in C#

  I'm importing a flat file of invoices into a database using C#. I'm using the TransactionScope to roll back the entire operation if a problem is encountered. It is a tricky input file, in that one row does not necessary equal one record. It also includes linked records. An invoice would have a header line, line items, and then a total line. Some of the invoices will need to be skipped, but I may not know it needs to be skipped until I reach the total line. One strategy is to store the header, line items, and total line in memory, and save everything once the total line is reached. I'm pursuing that now. However, I was wondering if it could be done a different way. Creating a "nested" transaction around the invoice, inserting the header row, and line items, then updating the invoice when the total line is reached. This "nested" transaction would roll back if it is determined the invoice needs to be skipped, but the overall transaction would continue. Is this possible, practical, and how would you set this up?

  Hi, I am newbie to rest. I am using the following code example to understand the RESTlet. http://www.restlet.org/documentation/1.1/firstResource I am using RESTClient addon to firefox for testing. When i do GET on http://localhost/rest, i get a response "ok".   I have a requirement for the project I'm working on right now which is proving a bit tricky for me. Basically I have to sort an array of items based on the Text property of those items: Here are my items: var answers = [], answer1 = { Id: 1, Text: '3-4 weeks ago' }, answer2 = { Id: 2, Text: '1-2 weeks ago' }, answer3 = { Id: 3, Text: '7-8 weeks ago' }, answer4 = { Id: 4, Text: '5-6 weeks ago' }, answer5 = { Id: 5, Text: '1-2 days ago' }, answer6 = { Id: 6, Text: 'More than 1 month ago' }; answers.push(answer1); answers.push(answer2); answers.push(answer3); answers.push(answer4); answers.push(answer5); answers.push(answer6); I need to analyse the Text property of each item so that, after the sorting, the array looks like this: answers[0] = { Id: 6, Text: 'More than 1 month ago' } answers[1] = { Id: 3, Text: '7-8 weeks ago' } answers[2] = { Id: 4, Text: '5-6 weeks ago' } answers[3] = { Id: 1, Text: '3-4 weeks ago' } answers[4] = { Id: 2, Text: '1-2 weeks ago' } answers[5] = { Id: 5, Text: '1-2 days ago' } The logic is that, the furthest away the date, the more high priority it is, so it should appear first in the array. So "1-2 days" is less of a priority then "7-8 weeks". So the logic is that, I need to extract the number values, and then the units (e.g. days, weeks) and somehow sort the array based on those details. Quite honestly I'm finding it very difficult to come up with a solution, and I'd appreciate any help.

• mysql query not running correctly from inside the application

  I am completely stumped. LIMIT 1"); } header('location: '.$this->session->userdata('current')); } The purpose of this code is to modify the properties (name, price, currency, url) of a row in the 'items' table (priary key is pid). However, for some reason, allowing this function to run once modifies the name, price, currency and url of ALL entries in the table, regardless of their pid and of the LIMIT 1 thing I tacked on the end of the query. It's as if the last line of the query is being completely ignored. As if this wasn't strance enough, I replaced "$query = $this->db->query(" with an "echo" to see the SQL query being run, and it outputs a query much like I would expect: UPDATE items SET name='newname', price='newprice', currency='newcurrency', url='newurl' WHERE pid='10' LIMIT 1 Copy-pasting this into a MySQL window acts exactly as I want: it modifies the row with the selected pid. What is going on here???

• Parallelizing L2S Entity Retrieval

  Assuming a typical domain entity approach with SQL Server and a dbml/L2S DAL with a logic layer on top of that: In situations where lazy loading is not an option, I have settled on a convention where getting a list of entities does not also get each item's child entities (no loading), but getting a single entity does (eager loading). Since getting a single entity also gets children, it causes a cascading effect in which each child then gets its children too. This sounds bad, but as long as the model is not too deep, I usually don't see performance problems that outweigh the benefits of the ease of use. So if I want to get a list in which each of the items is fully hydrated with children, I combine the GetList and GetItem methods. So I'll get a list and then loop through it getting each item with the full cascade. Even this is generally acceptable in many of the projects I've worked on - but I have recently encountered situations with larger models and/or more data in which it needs to be more efficient. I've found that partitioning the loop and executing it on multiple threads yields excellent results. In my first experiment with a list of 50 items from one particular project, I did 5 threads of 10 items each and got a 3X improvement in time. Of course, the mileage will vary depending on the project but all else being equal this is clearly a big opportunity. However, before I go further, I was wondering what others have done that have already been through this. What are some good approaches to parallelizing this type of thing?

  Hi, I am just started working as a programmer last month, so there will be plenty of newbie question come from me, stay tuned... I am now working on modify the provided template (from DevExpress) to create new web form using ASP.NET 2.0 on Visual Studio 2008. While the functionality of that web form is there, I am in the process of get rid of ninety something warning message, most of them come from the provided template. One of them puzzled me for a while is this one: "Warning 75 Content is not allowed between the opening and closing tags for element 'ClientSideEvents'." • How can I post an array of string to ASP.NET MVC Controller without a form?

  Hi there, I am creating a small app to teach myself ASP.NET MVC and JQuery, and one of the pages is a list of items in which some can be selected. Then I would like to press a button and send a List (or something equivalent) to my controller containing the ids of the items that were selected, using JQuery's Post function. I managed to get an array with the ids of the elements that were selected, and now I want to post that. One way I could do this is to have a dummy form in my page, with a hidden value, and then set the hidden value with the selected items, and post that form; this looks crufty, though. Is there a cleaner way to achieve this, by sending the array directly to the controller? I've tried a few different things but it looks like the controller can't map the data it's receiving. Here's the code so far: function generateList(selectedValues) { var s = { values: selectedValues //selectedValues is an array of string }; $.post("/Home/GenerateList", $.toJSON(s), function() { alert("back") }, "json"); } And then my Controller looks like this public ActionResult GenerateList(List<string> values) { //do something } All I managed to get is a "null" in the controller parameter...
