  • How to distribute multiple executions of an app across many machines

    I've got a simulation app (64-bit windows) that runs without any user interaction. This app gathers information and pushes it to a remote MS SQL Server. What I'd like to do is execute this simulation as many times as I can on multiple machines after our nightly build has finished and it has passed the test suite. If possible I'd love to have the ability to configure it to stop after x total runs or if the entire batch has taken over y hours. I've tried using Visual Studio's built in test framework since we already have a test lab set up with multiple agents. I created a single unit test that simply runs the simulation then I created an ordered test and added that single test multiple times (from what I gather, this is the only way to execute the same unit test more than once). I found that ordered tests are only run on a single agent and not distributed which is very limiting. We use TeamCity to perform our nightly builds and I suspect it's possible to implement this on top of that, but I'm fairly new to TeamCity. We also have Jenkins and Bamboo available and I'm open to any other software that would get the job done presuming it runs on a 64-bit Windows OS. Any suggestions?

I am attempting to use list() to extract a subset of a data.table as a data.table object as described in Section 1.4 of the data.table FAQ, but I can't get this behavior to work inside of a function. How two files link successfully even if they have different class definitions? 2. Are the static member s of two classes related because I get output as 7. Please explain this concept of statics.

    My source files tree is like this: /src /pkg /foo foo.go foo_test.go Inside foo.go: package foo func bar(n int) { ... } inside foo_test.go: package foo func testBar(t *testing.T) { bar(10) ... } My questions are: Does package name relates to directory name, source file name? If there is only one source file for a package, need I put it in a directory? Should I put foo.go and foo_test.go in the same package? In the foo_test.go, as it's in the same package as foo.go, I didn't import foo. But when I compile foo_test.go with 6g, it says bar() is undefined. What should I do?

    I am working on generating emails using Java. I would love to use some sort of system where I can send out mass emails and ensure that the emails were received by the intended recipient (A. My code to send the emails worked and B.The emails were not marked as spam).   • Nagios escalation debugging

    I'm having some issues with escalations happening properly and I'm not sure if it's because of my config or because the nagios binary is nonstandard and something may be broken. I've got little experience with nagios, and just want to make sure this is being set appropriately. Should the following config file definition allow the escalations to take over and increment the notification interval as expected? Is there somewhere else in the config files I should be looking at to figure out what's going on? I've enabled debug 32 in the config and it's simply spitting out 'Host notification will NOT be escalated.' for each notification.   • What's the best way to test MSSQL connection programmatically?

    I need to develop a single routine that will be fired each 5 minutes to check if a list of MSSQL servers (10 to 12) are up and running. I can try to obtain a simple query in each one of the servers but this means that I have to create a table, view or stored procedure in every server, even if I use any already made SP I need to have a registered user in each server too. The servers are not in the same phisical location so having those requirements would be a complex task. Is there a way to simply "ping" from c# one MSSQL server? Thanks in advance!

  • What is the best way to properly test object equality against an array of objects?

    My objective is to abort the NSXMLParser when I parse an item that already exists in cache. The basic flow of the program works like this: 1) Program starts and downloads an XML feed. Each item in the feed is represented by a custom object (FeedItem). Each FeedItem gets added to an array. 2) When the parsing is complete the contents of the array (all FeedItem objects) are archived to the disk. The next time the program is executed or the feed is refreshed by the user I begin parsing again; however, since a cache (array) now exists as each item is parsed I want to see if the object exists in the cache. If it does then I know I have downloaded all the new items and no longer need to continue parsing. What I am learning, I think, is that I can't use indexOfObject or indexOfObjectIDenticalTo: because these really seem to be checking to see that the objects are using the same memory address (thus identical). What I want to do is see if the contents of the object are equal (or at least some of the contents). I've done some research and found that I can override the IsEqual method; however, I really don't want to iterate/enumerate through the entire cache contents table for every newly parsed XML FeedItem. Is iterating through the collection and testing each one for equality the only way to do this or is there a better technique I am not aware of?   • Must JsUnit Cases Reside Under the Same Directory as JsUnit?

    I have installed JsUnit and a test case as follows: /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit/testRunner.html /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit/myTests/lineTestAbs.html /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/lineTestAbs.html When I open the test runner in a browser as a file, and test lineTestAbs.html from the jsunit/myTests directory, it passes. When I test the same file from the JavaScript directory, the test runner times out, asking if the file exists or is a test page. Questions: Am I doing something wrong here, or is this the expected behavior? Is it possible to put test cases in a different directory structure, and if so what is the proper path reference to to JsUnitCore.js?
