  • How to load a page with its default values after a postback

    I'm creating user controls that i will put into an update panel and make them visible only when required using triggers. Once visible it will float in a dialog box so it has a close button which will just hide the control on client side. The controls have multiple post back states, like a wizard, i'm using a multi view control to accomplish that. My problem is that once the user is at step number two in the control, if the user closes the dialog, than opens the dialog again, (note that the control is made visible on the server and reloaded by updating the updatepanel) the second step will still be displayed. The reason is . because whenever there is a postback the control will load its state using the viewstate, even if EnableViewState is false it will still load it using the LoadControlState method. so my quesion is how can i force a user control to load fresh with its default values without any postback data.

  • Updating the $PATH for running an command through SSH with LDAP user account

    Hi all, I am setting up a Mac OSX 1.6 server to host Git repositories. As such we need to push commits to the server through SSH. The server has only an admin account and uses a user list from a LDAP server. Now, since it is accessing the server through a non interactive shell, git operations are not able to complete since git executables are not in the default path. As the users are network users, they do not have a local home folder. So I cannot use a ~/.bashrc and the like solution. I browsed over several articles here and there but could not get it working in a nice and clean setup. Here are the infos on the methods I gathered so far: I could update the default PATH environment to include the git executables folder. However, I could not manage to do it successfully. Updating /etc/paths didn't change anything and since it's not an interactive shell, /etc/profile and /etc/bashrc are ignored. From the ssh manpage, I read that a BASH_ENV variable can be set to get an optional script to be executed. However I cannot figure how to set it system wide on the server. If it needs to be set up on the client machine, this is not an acceptable solution. If someone has some info on how it is supposed to be done, please, by all means! I can fix this problem by creating a .bashrc with PATH correction in the system root (since all network users would start here as they do not have home). But it just feels wrong. Additionally, if we do create a home folder for an user, then the git command would fail again. I can install a third party application to set up hooks on the login and then run a script creating a home directory with the necessary path corrections. This smells like a backyard tinkering and duct tape solution. I can install a small script on the server and ForceCommand the sshd to this script on login. This script will then look for a command to execute ($SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND) and trigger a login shell to run this command, or just trigger a regular login shell for an interactive session.   • Modifying my website to allow anonymous comments

    I write the code for my own website as an educational/fun exercise. Right now part of the website is a blog (like every other site out there :-/) which supports the usual basic blog features, including commenting on posts. But I only have comments enabled for logged-in users; I want to alter the code to allow anonymous comments - that is, I want to allow people to post comments without first creating a user account on my site, although there will still be some sort of authentication involved to prevent spam. Question: what information should I save for anonymous comments? I'm thinking at least display name and email address (for displaying a Gravatar), and probably website URL because I eventually want to accept OpenID as well, but would anything else make sense? Other question: how should I modify the database to store this information? The schema I have for the comment table is currently comment_id smallint(5) // The unique comment ID post_id smallint(5) // The ID of the post the comment was made on user_id smallint(5) // The ID of the user account who made the comment comment_subject varchar(128) comment_date timestamp comment_text text Should I add additional fields for name, email address, etc. to the comment table? (seems like a bad idea) Create a new "anonymous users" table? (and if so, how to keep anonymous user ids from conflicting with regular user ids) Or create fake user accounts for anonymous users in my existing users table? Part of what's making this tricky is that if someone tries to post an anonymous comment using an email address (or OpenID) that's already associated with an account on my site, I'd like to catch that and prompt them to log in.

    I have a HAProxy setup in front of webservers(apache) for loadbalancing. Also healthchecks for these webservers are also configured in HAProxy. option httpchk HEAD /healthcheck.txt HTTP/1.0 Is it possible to transfer these healthcheck requests to backend webservers as "LB-Check" User-agent or any other option, so that I can distinguish it from other log entries? However I dont want to go for "dontlog" option, as I dont want to miss these entries.

  • Prevent users from being able to access a webpage via web browser?

    My friend and I are working on a program. This program is going to submit GET data to our webpage. However, we don't want users accessing the webpage any other way than the program. We can prevent users from sharing the program using HWID authentication, but nothing prevents them from using a packet scanner to get the URL of the webpage. We thought about user-agent authentication, which we will implement, but user-agents can easily be spoofed. So my question is, how can we prevent users from accessing the webpage directly, instead of through the program? Even if you don't have an answer that will completely work, anything that will help deter them would be nice. Currently we will be implementing: HWID Authentication to use the program User-Agent Authentication to access the web page Instant IP Blacklisting to anyone accessing the webpage without the proper User-Agent

  • Can't login as root but I can SU while logged with another user

    What I was doing before this happened?: I was tinkering trying to setup X server so I can open an app's GUI remotely so I installed "X Window System", "xclock" and uncommented "# ForwardX11 yes" from my "/etc/ssh/ssh_config". (never got it working but thats a whole other question) Since that moment I'm not able to login as root from Putty (I get Access Denied). I can login as another user and I can "su" successfully so I know the password is right. How can have direct access with root again?

    I am trying to create a login script, or bat file to delete the folder located in the following directory. I would like the whole folder deleted with all of its contents "Juniper Networks". This is on a terminal server - C:\Users(username)\AppData\Roaming\Juniper Networks I can write a script for each username, but want a script to put in the startup folder that deleted the folder of the current user each time they login.

  • Postfix removing domain from user names before passing to Dovecot for IMAP authentication

    In IMAP authentication with Dovecot, Postfix is stripping the domain name from virtual users who share a name with a local user, causing them to fail authentication. Virtual users without local accounts don't have this problem. How can I prevent this? Failing an answer, how can I debug Postfix to see what's going on? I've turned on every debugging option I can get, and I'm not seeing anything helpful in the logs.

  • One user always unsuccessfull in logging into the MFP via DSS

    We use HP M4345 MFP's here with the HP DSS software. All the users can log into the MFP except for one particular user. I haven't been able to find out why. We are leaning towards her active directory account might be goofed. However I hate to delete the account and recreate it as it will cause a lot of extra work. Looking for any advice before we have to proceed down that road.

In the new Metro Start Menu, the username context menu allows me to lock the Computer or log out - but not Change the Password. What I would like to know, how many visitors can use the multiple web sites concurrently, before I need to migrate each of the sites to their seperate servers? So in laymans terms, how much RAM does a web-page user take on average? For example, how many concurrent visitors can I have on my server, running an Apache server, with 512mb RAM?

Still getting Permission denied errors.
