• Exporting tasks to 'C using DPI

  I have an verilog based test-bench, interfaced to 'C source using DPI. Now using DPI I am planning to write my whole firmware. To do this I need 3 things Register Read Register Write Interrupt handler As I understand, register reads and writes are tasks that I need to export from the RTL test-bench. And Interrupt handler (I implemented by importing a function from 'C). I checked most the cadence documentation and found no useful hints. I have also registered with cadence users community but it seems that I cannot ask question till they approve my registration. Just in case someone is aware of this, would appreciate their help.

• Using Groovy as a scripting language...

  I prefer to use scripting languages for short tasks, anything such as a really simple http bot, bulk importing/exporting data to/from somewhere, etc etc... Basic throw-away scripts and simple stuff. The point being, that a scripting language is just an efficient tool to write quick programs with. As for my understanding of Groovy at this point... If you were to program in Groovy, and you wan't to write a quick script, wouldn't you be forced to going back to regular java syntax (and we know how that can be convoluted compared to a scripting language) in order to do anything more complicated? For example, if I want to do some http scripting, wouldn't I just be right back at using java syntax to invoke Commons HttpClient? To me, the point of a scripting language is for quickly typed and less forced constructs. And here is another thing, it doesn't seem that there is any incentive for groovy based libraries to be developed when there are already so many good java one's out there, thus making groovy appear to be a Java dependent language with minor scripting features. So right now I am wondering if I could switch to Groovy as a scripting language or continue to use a more common scripting language such as Perl, Python or Ruby.

  We have oracle running on Solaris, and the shell is by default CSH. So the login script set the oracle_home,oracle_sid in csh also. But I don't like csh and want to use bash to do my work. So how to source the csh login script in bash? e.g, the following is what in the .cshrc file. And when use bash, I'd like use these variables. One way is to copy the variables again and use bash command, such as export ORACLE_SID=TEST. But doing so will let us to maintain two copy of the files. And when we change the database name, or upgrade the database, I need to maintian the bash login file seperately. Is this understanding all right? Q2. About COM My naive understanding is that: a COM DLL seems to be just a new logical way to organize the functions and types exported by a standard Windows DLL. A COM DLL exports both functions such as DllRegisterServer() and DllGetClassObject(), and also the Classes which implements the IUnknown interface. Is this understanding all right? Q3. *.def & *.idl *.def is used to define the functions exported by a Windows DLL in the traditional way, such as DllGetClassObject(). *.idl is used to define the interface implemented by a COM coclass.   Is there a standard site structure format? The use of this would be for export and import into a CMS or framework to define the urls, content, metadata for a website. • How to set initial window size in Java OpenGL

  Hi guys... I just built a Java OpenGL application in Eclipse... and when i was trying to export the application using EclipseP5Exporter, it requires me to initialize the window size (not viewport size, a window may contain several viewports). I already googled some solutions in the net but I can't seem to get anything useful.. I've tried the method : "glutInitWindowSize(int width, int height);" but it seems to work only in C and python openGL. even if i append the glut before the method (glut.glutInitWindowSize()) eclipse doesn't recognize that method.. So if you guys have any suggestions please let me know... Thank you....

• Using VB6 + WSH with Windows Compression

  Having trouble with WSH and Windows Compression. My goal is to be able to zip up files (not folders, but individual files from various locations, which I have stored in an array) using the built-in Windows Compression. I am using VB6. I start getting errors from Windows (presumably, its calling the compression too fast, and the zip file is locked). I cant seem to figure out how to WAIT until the COPYHERE function completes before calling the next one to avoid issues. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks -

  I need an elegant way to implement credit-based purchases for an online store with a small variety of products which can be purchased using virtual credit or real currency. Alternatively, products could only be priced in credits. Previous work I have implemented credit-based purchasing before using different product types (eg. Credit, Voucher or Music) with post-order processing to assign purchased credit to users in the form of real currency, which could subsequently be used to discount future orders' charge totals. This worked fairly well as a makeshift solution, but did not succeed in disconnecting the virtual currency from the real currency, which is what I'd like to do, since spending credits is psychologically easier for customers than spending real currency. Design I need guidance on designing the database correctly with support for the simultaneous bulk purchase of credits at a discount along with real currency products. Alternatively, should all products be priced in credits and only credit have a real currency value? • how to read a User uploaded file, without saving it to the database

  I'd like to be able to read an XML file uploaded by the user (less than 100kb), but not have to first save that file to the database. I don't need that file past the current action (its contents get parsed and added to the database; however, parsing the file is not the problem). Since local files can be read with: File.read("export.opml") I thought about just creating a file_field for :uploaded_file, then trying to read it with File.read(params[:uploaded_file]) but all that does is throw a TypeError (can't convert HashWithIndifferentAccess into String). I really have tried a lot of various things (including reading from the /tmp directory as well), but could get none of them to work. I hope the brevity of my question doesn't mask the effort I've given to try to solve this on my own, but I didn't want to pollute this question with a hundred ways of how NOT to get it done. • Using Proguard for Android in Eclipse Problem

  I have taken a fresh install of Eclipse and all the latest Android tools and want to use Proguard on existing project, but for now I have created a new blank one. I have added a proguard.cfg file to my project added proguard.config=proguard.cfg to my default.properties Now when I try to export I get the following error [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] Proguard returned with error code 1. See console [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] 'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] operable program or batch file. [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] '-jar' is not recognized as an internal or external command, [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] operable program or batch file. I know it means there is a filepath setup incorrectly, question is where the heck is as I have looked through the general properties and project properties and can't see any reference to proguard or obfuscation so am stuck on what to change Any help appreciated.

  I am developing an as3 swc-based component that populates its contents entirely through actionscript in the constructor (e.g. sprite.graphics.lineTo...). When I drag the component onto the stage, it is empty. If I export my movie, everything works perfectly, but I also need the live preview to work. I could get around this with a placeholder graphic, but I would much rather leave it purely as code. Is there any way to get around this? Thanks, David.

• How to speed up marching cubes?

  I'm using this marching cube algorithm to draw 3D isosurfaces (ported into C#, outputting MeshGeomtry3Ds, but otherwise the same). The resulting surfaces look great, but are taking a long time to calculate. Are there any ways to speed up marching cubes? The most obvious one is to simply reduce the spatial sampling rate, but this reduces the quality of the resulting mesh. I'd like to avoid this. I'm considering a two-pass system, where the first pass samples space much more coarsely, eliminating volumes where the field strength is well below my isolevel. Is this wise? What are the pitfalls? Edit: the code has been profiled, and the bulk of CPU time is split between the marching cubes routine itself and the field strength calculation for each grid cell corner. The field calculations are beyond my control, so speeding up the cubes routine is my only option... I'm still drawn to the idea of trying to eliminate dead space, since this would reduce the number of calls to both systems considerably.

  Hi, I need some help with vocabulary, I don't use Oracle that often but I am familiar with MySQL and MSSQL. I have an application I need to upgrade and migrate, and part of the procedure to do that involves exporting to an XML, create new database tables, then populate the new database tables from the XML export. In Oracle, my database connection specifies a username, password, and an SID. This SID contains tables belonging to several applications. My question is: Can I re-use the same user to create the new tables ( with the same names ). In MySQL or MSSQL, I would create a new database and grant my user privileges to create tables in it. OR, do I need to create a new database user for my upgraded tables?

• Compilation of latex file

  Hi, I am compiling a latex file on a server and download from there the generated dvi, ps and pdf files to view them. The latex file by \includegraphics includes some figure files which are not on my local machine. I found that dvi file generated by latex command does not show the figures after dowloaded to my local, but ps file generated by dvips -Ppdf have the figures, and pdf file generated by either ps2pdf or pdflatex seem not have the figures again. Is it because the figures are not actually embeded as part of the dvi and pdf files by those compilation commands? How to actually embed figures so we can only export the document files to other machines? are the case for tables in separated tex files included into main tex file by /input and the case for style files included by \usepackage similar to the above case for figure files included by \includegraphics ? • How can I include platform-specific native libraries in the .JAR file using Eclipse?

  Hello all, I am just starting to learn JNI. I have been following a simple example, and I have created a Java app that calls a Hello World method in a native library. I'd like to target Win32 and Linux x86. My library resides in a DLL, and I can call it just fine using LoadLibrary when the DLL is added to the root of my Eclipse project. However, I can't figure out how to get Eclipse to export a runnable JAR that includes the DLL and the .SO file for Linux. So my question is basically; how would you go about creating a project in Eclipse and include several versions of the same native library? Thank you, Martin

• Crystal report file does not get deployed to server in ASP.NET MVC

  I am using a crystal reports through crystal report viewer server side control in a webform. I am using a webform because the crystal report viewer provides an easy way to export to PDF and to Excel. My problem is that when I deploy to the server, the crystal report .rpt file does not get copied to the target folder. My solution structure looks like this: Solution |-Content |-Controllers |-Models |-Views |-etc... |-Reports |-Default.aspx |-Report.rpt On the server, the Report.rpt file is missing after I publish.

• How-to build a droplet application in Xcode4?

  In Xcode3 there used to be a template to build "Droplet" Applications (head/nibless apps that would throw whatever dropped at them at an "on open" Applescript method). In Xcode4 this template is unfortunately gone. What are the required steps to setup an xcode4 droplet project? modify the info.plist i guess to make the app handle drops get rid of the nib (also involves changes in main.m and both AppDelegate.h and AppDelegate.m i guess) Maybe somebody even still has Xcode3 installed and could create an empty applescript droplet app and upload it somewhere? that would be very interesting. thanks! (or is there maybe even a way to export an app bundle created with the AppleScript Editor to Xcode?)

• Eclipse: How to build an executable jar with external jar?

  Hi all, I am trying to build an executable jar program which depends on external jar downloaded. In my project, I included them in the build path and can be run and debug within eclipse. When I tried to export it to a jar, I can run the program but I can't when I try to press a button which includes function calls and classes from the external jar. I have edited the environment variables (Windows XP) CLASSPATH to include paths of all the external jar, but it doesn't work. A point to note is that I got compile warnings while exporting my executable jar, but it doesn't show up any description about the warnings.   I've been testing Hudson for a few days now and for PHP projects it seems ok; What I need though is a system that will allow me to publish an SVN tag to an FTP folder without adding a pile of rubbish on the end; hudson gets overexcited and adds a pile of folders to the export. Are their any other decent systems; it needs to be simple to use as this will eventually fall under the control of 'admins' in order to meet sox compliance (aka the man with the gun cant pull the trigger). Basic Requirements: Must be free and downloadable to a server (FTP's internal only here) Needs to be able to interact with SVN Needs to be able to publish to FTP Needs matrix login permissions (or AD if its something that can go on IIS) Needs to be auditable (logging) Tell me if im not being clear enough here; thanks.   Hello, I recently started with Magento and decided to migrate Interspire shopping cart I already made time ago to it. At first look Magento seems a very huge beast - lots of options, maybe lack of simplicity resulting in some performance loss. I've got user guide from which I am not getting much of benefit since there're just descriptions of very ordinary tasks that I could easily discover myself by poking around frontend/backend. So my first tasks are category and product export. Interspire seems to be exporting ONLY products in three available formats: Default MYOB Peachtree accounting I did some searching on Magento's product importing and found a blog post which says that I should create a few sample products with all the necessary attributes myself and then start the import. But what should I do with categories ? Is it possible to import them or instruct Magento to automatically create categories when importing product file if unknown category is encountered ? Thanks

• Temporary debug releases and final application releases

  I have a quick question regarding debug and release in VS 2008. I have an app i've been working on - its not yet complete but the bulk of the functionality is there. So basically i'm trying to give a copy of it now to the person helping with documentation - just so they can have a play and get the feel for what i've made. Now the question is how to provide it to them. I was told to just copy the .exe out of the debug/bin folder and put that onto USB. But when testing, if I run this .exe anywhere else (outside of this folder) it crashes. I've now worked out why this is: var path = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["PathToUse"]; var files = Directory.GetFiles(path); throws a null reference, so that App.config file is not being used. If I copy that file in with the .exe it works again. So actually my question is regarding the best way to manage this situation. What is the best way to provide a working copy to people, and, is there a reference on preparing apps for release - so everything is packaged together and installed in a clean structured folder heirarchy?

• Java Error beeping

  Im working on a Chat client that i didnt write the bulk of the code for. It works fine however when someone sends a message it beeps (system error beep) when using Java 7. Java 6 and below doesn't have this beep. I cant seem to find whats causing the beep is there any way to find it ? I dont think its calling beep as i have public class nobeep extends sun.awt.windows.WToolkit { @Override public void beep() { System.out.println("tried to beep"); new Exception().printStackTrace(); } } and then called System.setProperty("awt.toolkit", "nobeep"); in the main method. Using the method to send a beep doesnt make it beep. Its only when sent normally. Is there a quick way to track down the cause of the beep ? Edit: After looking in the bugs database - its confirmed. http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7194469 I know it says no work around but is there one (java not c++) or just wait until update 8 ?

  I have a shell script to monitor process due to preventing the process closed. If the process is closed, that script will restart it. BTW, when the system starts, the crontab will run the script automatically. • How to transfer SQLite db to web server

  Hi, I have an application that creates an SQLite database and saves information to it over the course of a day. At the end of the day i want to export this database to a web server. Could anyone point me in the right direction for this? Should I use httppost or put. I have researched this myself online but there seems to be so many different ways to explore. The server side does not exist yet either. I have access to an apache server so i am hoping to use that. Could anyone advise me the best/most simple way to do this? Thanks
