• Length of data returned from CGImageGetDataProvider is larger than expected

  I'm loading a grayscale png image and I want to access the underlying pixel data. However after I load get the pixel data via CGImageGetDataProvider, the length of the data returned is longer than expected. CCGDataProviderRef provider = CGDataProviderCreateWithFilename(cStr); CGImageRef image = CGImageCreateWithPNGDataProvider(provider, NULL, FALSE, kCGRenderingIntentDefault); mapWidth = CGImageGetWidth(image); mapHeight = CGImageGetHeight(image); lookupMap = CGDataProviderCopyData(CGImageGetDataProvider(image)); mapWidth comes out to 1804 and mapHeight comes out to 1005. The product of which is 1813020 When I call CFDataGetLength(lookupMap) the response is 1833120. Where are these extra 20100 bytes coming from? Any help here is much appreciated. Am I missing something about the underlying format of the image?

• Crystal Reports - Facilitating front/back printing

  I have a crystal report that is designed to spit out a bunch of reports. Each report is 2 to 7 pages in length. We would like to print on the front and back of pages. However, if we did this now... approximately half of the following reports would print on the back of the last past of the preceding report. Is there a good method for detecting whether an extra page break should be inserted, and if so, actually inserting it, so that when we print the 150 pages front/back that now one piece of paper actually holds data from separate reports? For example I want to get this url: /users/1/videos/2?status=done but I am confused how to realize this while I am using [a.user, a] instead of user_videos_path(video, :status => 'done'). But I can't use last, because it can be either videos, or images or anything else

• Where can I find a control similar to the Firefox Rich List Box for use in my application?

  I'm trying to implement a control similar to Firefox's Rich List Box: However, I can only find the XUL implementation of this control, and I don't want to have to include a XUL processing engine in my application just to get a cool looking listbox. I've been trying to implement one on my own by customizing MFC's CListBox control, but am starting to realize it may take more time than I had intended. Before continuing to implement this control from scratch, I was wondering if anyone knew of a similar control that already exists, either commercial or open source. The main functionality I would like to have is: Small display for non selected items that expands when selected. Ability to add arbitrary controls to the expanded view. Preferably native code, but can probably use managed controls via native/managed interop with out too much extra work. Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to have to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to.

  I have an array created with this code: var widthRange = new Array(); widthRange[46] = { sel:46, min:0, max:52 }; widthRange[66] = { sel:66, min:52, max:70 }; widthRange[90] = { sel:90, min:70, max:94 }; I want to get each of the values 46, 66, 90 in a loop. I tried for (var key in widthRange) but this gives me a whole bunch of extra properties (I assume they are functions on the object). I can't use a regular for loop since the values are not sequential.

  Hello, while doing some homework in my very strange C++ book, which I've been told before to throw away, had a very peculiar code segment. I know homework stuff always throws in extra "mystery" to try to confuse you like indenting 2 lines after a single-statement for-loop. But this one I'm confused on because it seems to serve some real-purpose. basically it is like this: int counter=10; ... if(pow(floor(sqrt(counter+0.0)),2) == counter) ... I'm interested in this part especially: sqrt(counter+0.0) Is there some purpose to the +0.0? Is this the poormans way of doing a static cast to a double? Does this avoid some compiler warning on some compiler I do not use? The entire program printed the exact same thing and compiled without warnings on g++ whenever I left out the +0.0 part. Maybe I'm not using a weird enough compiler?

• String Encoding doesn't ouput all characters

  My client uses InputStreamReader/BufferedReader to fetch text from the Internet. However when I save the Text to a *.txt the text shows extra weird special symbols like 'Â'. I've tried Convert the String to ASCII but that mess upp å,ä,ö,Ø which I use. I've tried food = food.replace("Â", ""); and IndexOf(); But string won't find it. But it's there in HEX Editor. So summary: When I use text.setText(Android), the output looks fine with NO weird symbols, but when I save the text to *.txt I get about 4 of 'Â'. I do not want ASCII because I use other Non-ASCII character. The 'Â' is displayed as a Whitespace on my Android and in notepad. Thanks! Have A great Weekend! EDIT* found:   in Wordpad

  Hey all. I am looking for a fast and efficient protocol that can be used between different web services to send text-data (not binary data). Doesn't matter if the protocol is binary or text base. Some conditions: I has to be more "efficient" than normal XML which adds a lot of extra data and the tools to read/write is too heavy It has to be "supported" by most major languages, meaning it cannot only be available for one specific language. At the moment, both Java and PHP have to be able to talk to each other using this protocol. I have already looked at: XML - which I am currently using. Hessian 2 -which works perfectly in Java, but the PHP-support is out of date JSON -the different between JSON and XML is only minor Any suggestions are welcome!

• Windows azure deployment

  I just built a simple hello world windows azure service containing just one web role, I used visual studio 2008 and Windows azure tools for VS 1.2 I am pretty new to this and I have been trying to deploy an application all afternoon now. I'm in australia and deploying in the region Asia anywhere. I have pretty much followed the info provided on MSDN and it says uploaded 95% then after about ten minutes the deployment disappears. I have tried using the old windows azure developer portal and 30minutes later I can not access the service and it's status is either busy or stopped. I have the introductory offer for an extra small compute instance on the subscription I am deploying to. Can anyone with experience with windows azure elaborate on the subject of deploying apps and the status on my application, I am very keen to get into the platform and this issue has just about spoiled my weekend.

  I am trying to validate the solution I came up for what I think is a fairly typical problem. I have a service running and every 10 minutes it should do something. I've ended up with the following: private bool isRunning = true; public void Execute() { while(isRunning) { if(isRunning) { DoSomething(); m_AutoResetEvent.WaitOne(new Timespan(0, 10, 0)); } } } public void Stop() { isRunning = false; m_AutoResetEvent.Set(); } The immediate potential problems I can see is that I'm not doing any sort of locking around the isRunning modification in Stop() which gets called by another thread but I'm not sure I really need to? The worst that I think could happen is that it runs one extra cycle. Beyond that are there any obvious problems with this code? Is there a better way to solve this problem that I'm unaware of?

• Weird Animation when inserting a row in UITableView

  I have tableview which holds a list of data, when users press "Edit" i add an extra row at the bottom saying "add new" - (void)setEditing:(BOOL)editing animated:(BOOL)animated { [super setEditing:editing animated:animated]; NSArray *paths = [NSArray arrayWithObject: [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:1 inSection:0]]; if (editing) { [[self tableView] insertRowsAtIndexPaths:paths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; } else { [[self tableView] deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:paths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; } } and of course the UITableView transform with animation, but weird thing is the row before the row that i just added, has different animation than all others. all rows perform "slides in" animation, but that 2nd last one did a "fade in" animation. and i didnt set any animation on the 2nd last row (or any other row), and if i didnt add the new row in, the animation slides in as normal when i switch to editing mode. somehow i cant find an answer, i check with contact app on my phone, it didnt have that weird animation as i have, when they adding a new row on editing mode. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

• Django: How/Where to store a value for a session without unnecessary DB hits

  Hi all, I have an extended userprofile with AUTH_PROFILE_MODULE (ref: http://tinyurl.com/yhracqq) I would like to set a user.is_guru() method similar to user.is_active(). This would results for al views (or rather templates) to e.g. disable/enable certain user messages, displaying of widgets, etc. The boolean is stored in the extended user profile model, but I want to avoid hitting the DB for every view. So the questions is .. Do I use a context_processor, a template tag, session_dict or what have you to, possible cached, store this info for the duration of the users visit. Note: I dont have performance issues, so it's definitely filed under premature optimization. I just want to avoid generating extra work in the future :). Any pointers are very welcome.   Hello, I am trying develop a basic referrer system to my Django website, system will be generating a unique url for each users to share with their friends. Once these friends enter this website, system somehow keep the data that "this user is browsing by the reference of X user" and once this invited person decided to register for an account, system will save this information (maybe as an extra Foreign Key of the inviting user in the UserProfile model) Now how can I keep track of the inviting user from the moment entering using the referred link to the point where he/she registers to the site. Would session framework work on this? If not how could this be done ?

The scripts almost works, except for not waiting long enough to receive an IP (it cycles to next step in the until loop too quick).   OK I have a standard post here: http://www.ticketyoda.co.uk/concerts/rihanna-tickets/rihanna-tickets-manchester-2013-06-12-united-kingdom/970 I am trying to make each post unique and contain the category information for both the city (Manchester) and the Artist (Rihanna). At the moment the box underneath the venue contains the information taken from the category (see breadcrumb). So I have 1 out of 2. What I need now is for an extra box below to show the category information for the Artist.   Hi, I am curious, do new compilers use some extra features built into new CPUs such as MMX SSE,3DNow! and so? I mean, in original 8086 there was even no FPU, so compiler that old cannot even use it, but new compilers can, since FPU is part of every new CPU. So, does new compilers use new features of CPU?   I'm trying to use a function to count the number of unique cells in a spreadsheet that, at the same time, meet multiple criteria. Given the following example: A B C QUANT STORE# PRODUCT 1 75012 banana 5 orange 6 56089 orange 3 89247 orange 7 45321 orange 2 apple 4 45321 apple In the example above, I need to know how many unique stores with a valid STORE# have received oranges OR apples. In the case above, the result should be 3 (stores 56089, 89247 and 45321). This is how I started to try solving the problem: =SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(B2:B9,B2:B9)>0,1)) The above formula will yield the number of unique stores with a valid store#, but not just the ones that have received oranges or bananas. How can I add that extra criteria?

I created some apps, some of those are related to User model, for instance, I have a feeds app that handles user feeds, and another app that deals with extra user data like age, contacts, and friends. for each of these, I created a table that should be connected to the User model, which I using for storing and authenticating users. I found two ways to deal with this issue. One, is through extending User model to be like this: ModelName(User): friends = models.ManyToMany('self') ..... Two, is through adding a foreign key to the new table like this: ModelName(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) friends = friends = models.ManyToMany('self') ...... I can't decide which to use in which case. in other words, what are the core differences between both?

• Options for header in raw byte file.

  I have a large raw data file (up to 1GB) which contains raw samples from a USB data logger. I need to store extra information relating to the file (sample rate, description, trigger point, last seek position etc) and was looking into adding this as a some sort of header. The header file should ideally be human readable and flexible so I've so far ruled out some sort of binary serialization into a header. I also want to avoid two separate files as they could end up separated when copied or backed up. I remembered somebody telling me that newer *.*x Microsoft Office documents are actually a number of files in a zip. Is there a simple way to achieve this? Could I still keep the quick seek times to the raw file?

• Google maps z-index problem in IE

  I'm loading my google maps into div class="extra" style="display: none;" /. As soon as the AJAX request is complete, the map_canvas div is placed inside the hidden div and the hidden div will be vissible with the toggleDown jquery effect. In FF it's working perfect, but in IE the Google maps (map_canvas div) is already visible before the toggleDown effect is started. I think the z-index and the relative position of the map_canvas div wich is loaded into the hidden div will place the map_canvas div on top of the hidden div. What do i have to change to make sure the map_canvas div is not on top of the hidden div?
