  • Generic Adjacency List Graph implementation

    - by DmainEvent
    I am trying to come up with a decent Adjacency List graph implementation so I can start tooling around with all kinds of graph problems and algorithms like traveling salesman and other problems... But I can't seem to come up with a decent implementation. This is probably because I am trying to dust the cobwebs off my data structures class. But what I have so far... and this is implemented in Java... is basically an edgeNode class that has a generic type and a weight-in the event the graph is indeed weighted. public class edgeNode<E> { private E y; private int weight; //... getters and setters as well as constructors... } I have a graph class that has a list of edges a value for the number of Vertices and and an int value for edges as well as a boolean value for whether or not it is directed. The brings up my first question, if the graph is indeed directed, shouldn't I have a value in my edgeNode class? Or would I just need to add another vertices to my LinkedList? That would imply that a directed graph is 2X as big as an undirected graph wouldn't it? public class graph { private List<edgeNode<?>> edges; private int nVertices; private int nEdges; private boolean directed; //... getters and setters as well as constructors... } Finally does anybody have a standard way of initializing there graph? I was thinking of reading in a pipe-delimited file but that is so 1997. public graph GenereateGraph(boolean directed, String file){ List<edgeNode<?>> edges; graph g; try{ int count = 0; String line; FileReader input = new FileReader("C:\\Users\\derekww\\Documents\\JavaEE Projects\\graphFile"); BufferedReader bufRead = new BufferedReader(input); line = bufRead.readLine(); count++; edges = new ArrayList<edgeNode<?>>(); while(line != null){ line = bufRead.readLine(); Object edgeInfo = line.split("|")[0]; int weight = Integer.parseInt(line.split("|")[1]); edgeNode<String> e = new edgeNode<String>((String) edges.add(e); } return g; } catch(Exception e){ return null; } } I guess when I am adding edges if boolean is true I would be adding a second edge. So far, this all depends on the file I write. So if I wrote a file with the following Vertices and weights... Buffalo | 18 br Pittsburgh | 20 br New York | 15 br D.C | 45 br I would obviously load them into my list of edges, but how can I represent one vertices connected to the other... so on... I would need the opposite vertices? Say I was representing Highways connected to each city weighted and un-directed (each edge is bi-directional with weights in some fictional distance unit)... Would my implementation be the best way to do that? I found this tutorial online Graph Tutorial that has a connector object. This appears to me be a collection of vertices pointing to each other. So you would have A and B each with there weights and so on, and you would add this to a list and this list of connectors to your graph... That strikes me as somewhat cumbersome and a little dismissive of the adjacency list concept? Am I wrong and that is a novel solution? This is all inspired by steve skiena's Algorithm Design Manual. Which I have to say is pretty good so far. Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Google Analytics recording event based on <a> title attribute

    - by rlsaj
    I am declaring: var title = (typeof(el.attr('title')) != 'undefined' ) ? el.attr('title') :""; and then have the following: else if (title.match(/^"Matching Content"\:/i)) { elEv.category = "Matching Content Click"; elEv.action = "click-Matching-Content"; elEv.label = href.replace(/^https?\:\/\//i, ''); elEv.non_i = true; elEv.loc = href; } However, using Google Analytics debugger this is not being recorded. Any suggestions? The complete function is: if (typeof jQuery != 'undefined') { jQuery(document).ready(function gLinkTracking($) { var filetypes = /\.(avi|csv|dat|dmg|doc.*|exe|flv|gif|jpg|mov|mp3|mp4|msi|pdf|png|ppt.*|rar|swf|txt|wav|wma|wmv|xls.*|zip)$/i; var baseHref = ''; if (jQuery('base').attr('href') != undefined) baseHref = jQuery('base').attr('href'); jQuery('a').on('click', function (event) { var el = jQuery(this); var track = true; var href = (typeof(el.attr('href')) != 'undefined' ) ? el.attr('href') :""; var title = (typeof(el.attr('title')) != 'undefined' ) ? el.attr('title') :""; var isThisDomain = href.match(document.domain.split('.').reverse()[1] + '.' + document.domain.split('.').reverse()[0]); if (!href.match(/^javascript:/i)) { var elEv = []; elEv.value=0, elEv.non_i=false; if (href.match(/^mailto\:/i)) { elEv.category = "Email link"; elEv.action = "click-email"; elEv.label = href.replace(/^mailto\:/i, ''); elEv.loc = href; } else if (title.match(/^"Matching Content"\:/i)) { elEv.category = "Matching Content Click"; elEv.action = "click-Matching-Content"; elEv.label = href.replace(/^https?\:\/\//i, ''); elEv.non_i = true; elEv.loc = href; } else if (href.match(filetypes)) { var extension = (/[.]/.exec(href)) ? /[^.]+$/.exec(href) : undefined; elEv.category = "File Downloaded"; elEv.action = "click-" + extension[0]; elEv.label = href.replace(/ /g,"-"); elEv.loc = baseHref + href; } else if (href.match(/^https?\:/i) && !isThisDomain) { elEv.category = "External link"; elEv.action = "click-external"; elEv.label = href.replace(/^https?\:\/\//i, ''); elEv.non_i = true; elEv.loc = href; } else if (href.match(/^tel\:/i)) { elEv.category = "Telephone link"; elEv.action = "click-telephone"; elEv.label = href.replace(/^tel\:/i, ''); elEv.loc = href; } else track = false; if (track) { _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', elEv.category.toLowerCase(), elEv.action.toLowerCase(), elEv.label.toLowerCase(), elEv.value, elEv.non_i]); if ( el.attr('target') == undefined || el.attr('target').toLowerCase() != '_blank') { setTimeout(function() { location.href = elEv.loc; }, 400); return false; } } } }); }); }

  • How to parse a CSV file containing serialized PHP? [migrated]

    - by garbetjie
    I've just started dabbling in Perl, to try and gain some exposure to different programming languages - so forgive me if some of the following code is horrendous. I needed a quick and dirty CSV parser that could receive a CSV file, and split it into file batches containing "X" number of CSV lines (taking into account that entries could contain embedded newlines). I came up with a working solution, and it was going along just fine. However, as one of the CSV files that I'm trying to split, I came across one that contains serialized PHP code. This seems to break the CSV parsing. As soon as I remove the serialization - the CSV file is parsed correctly. Are there any tricks I need to know when it comes to parsing serialized data in CSV files? Here is a shortened sample of the code: use strict; use warnings; my $csv = Text::CSV_XS->new({ eol => $/, always_quote => 1, binary => 1 }); my $out; my $in; open $in, "<:encoding(utf8)", "infile.csv" or die("cannot open input file $inputfile"); open $out, ">outfile.000"; binmode($out, ":utf8"); while (my $line = $csv->getline($in)) { $lines++; $csv->print($out, $line); } I'm never able to get into the while loop shown above. As soon as I remove the serialized data, I suddenly am able to get into the loop. Edit: An example of a line that is causing me trouble (taken straight from Vim - hence the ^M): "26","other","1","20,000 Subscriber Plan","Some text here.^M\ Some more text","on","","18","","0","","0","0","recurring","0","","payment","totalsend","0","tsadmin","R34bL9oq","37","0","0","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","0","0","0","a:18:{i:0;s:1:\"3\";i:1;s:1:\"2\";i:2;s:2:\"59\";i:3;s:2:\"60\";i:4;s:2:\"61\";i:5;s:2:\"62\";i:6;s:2:\"63\";i:7;s:2:\"64\";i:8;s:2:\"65\";i:9;s:2:\"66\";i:10;s:2:\"67\";i:11;s:2:\"68\";i:12;s:2:\"69\";i:13;s:2:\"70\";i:14;s:2:\"71\";i:15;s:2:\"72\";i:16;s:2:\"73\";i:17;s:2:\"74\";}","","","0","0","","0","0","0.0000","0.0000","0","","","0.00","","6","1" "27","other","1","35,000 Subscriber Plan","Some test here.^M\ Some more text","on","","18","","0","","0","0","recurring","0","","payment","totalsend","0","tsadmin","R34bL9oq","38","0","0","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","0","0","0","a:18:{i:0;s:1:\"3\";i:1;s:1:\"2\";i:2;s:2:\"59\";i:3;s:2:\"60\";i:4;s:2:\"61\";i:5;s:2:\"62\";i:6;s:2:\"63\";i:7;s:2:\"64\";i:8;s:2:\"65\";i:9;s:2:\"66\";i:10;s:2:\"67\";i:11;s:2:\"68\";i:12;s:2:\"69\";i:13;s:2:\"70\";i:14;s:2:\"71\";i:15;s:2:\"72\";i:16;s:2:\"73\";i:17;s:2:\"74\";}","","","0","0","","0","0","0.0000","0.0000","0","","","0.00","","7","1" "28","other","1","50,000 Subscriber Plan","Some text here.^M\ Some more text","on","","18","","0","","0","0","recurring","0","","payment","totalsend","0","tsadmin","R34bL9oq","39","0","0","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","0","0","0","a:18:{i:0;s:1:\"3\";i:1;s:1:\"2\";i:2;s:2:\"59\";i:3;s:2:\"60\";i:4;s:2:\"61\";i:5;s:2:\"62\";i:6;s:2:\"63\";i:7;s:2:\"64\";i:8;s:2:\"65\";i:9;s:2:\"66\";i:10;s:2:\"67\";i:11;s:2:\"68\";i:12;s:2:\"69\";i:13;s:2:\"70\";i:14;s:2:\"71\";i:15;s:2:\"72\";i:16;s:2:\"73\";i:17;s:2:\"74\";}","","","0","0","","0","0","0.0000","0.0000","0","","","0.00","","8","1""73","other","8","10,000,000","","","","0","","0","","0","0","recurring","0","","payment","","0","","","75","0","10000000","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","0","0","0","a:17:{i:0;s:1:\"3\";i:1;s:1:\"2\";i:2;s:2:\"59\";i:3;s:2:\"60\";i:4;s:2:\"61\";i:5;s:2:\"62\";i:6;s:2:\"63\";i:7;s:2:\"64\";i:8;s:2:\"65\";i:9;s:2:\"66\";i:10;s:2:\"67\";i:11;s:2:\"68\";i:12;s:2:\"69\";i:13;s:2:\"70\";i:14;s:2:\"71\";i:15;s:2:\"72\";i:16;s:2:\"74\";}","","","0","0","","0","0","0.0000","0.0000","0","","","0.00","","14","0"

  • Algorithm design, "randomising" timetable schedule in Python although open to other languages.

    - by S1syphus
    Before I start I should add I am a musician and not a native programmer, this was undertook to make my life easier. Here is the situation, at work I'm given a new csv file each which contains a list of sound files, their length, and the minimum total amount of time they must be played. I create a playlist of exactly 60 minutes, from this excel file. Each sample played the by the minimum number of instances, but spread out from each other; so there will never be a period where for where one sound is played twice in a row or in close proximity to itself. Secondly, if the minimum instances of each song has been used, and there is still time with in the 60 min, it needs to fill the remaining time using sounds till 60 minutes is reached, while adhering to above. The smallest duration possible is 15 seconds, and then multiples of 15 seconds. Here is what I came up with in python and the problems I'm having with it, and as one user said its buggy due to the random library used in it. So I'm guessing a total rethink is on the table, here is where I need your help. Whats is the best way to solve the issue, I have had a brief look at things like knapsack and bin packing algorithms, while both are relevant neither are appropriate and maybe a bit beyond me.

  • Python Image Library, Close method

    - by DNN
    Hello, I have been using pil for the first time today. And I wanted to resize an image assuming it was larger than 800x600 and also create a thumbnail. I could do either of these tasks separately but not together in one method (I am doing a custom save method in django admin). This returns a "cannot identify image file" error message. The error is on the line "image = Image.open(self.photo)" after "#if image is size is greatet than 800 x 600 then resize image." I thought this may be because the image is already open, but if i remove the line I still get issues. So I thought I could try closing after creating a thumbnail and then reopening. But I couldn't find a close method.... This is my code: def save(self): #create thumbnail Thumb_Size = (75, 75) image = Image.open(self.photo) if image.mode not in ('L', 'RGB'): image = image.convert('RGB') image.thumbnail(Thumb_Size, Image.ANTIALIAS) temp_handle = StringIO() image.save(temp_handle, 'jpeg') temp_handle.seek(0) suf = SimpleUploadedFile(os.path.split(self.photo.name)[-1], temp_handle.read(), content_type='image/jpg') self.thumbnail.save(suf.name+'.jpg', suf, save=False) #if image is size is greatet than 800 x 600 then resize image. image = Image.open(self.photo) if image.size[0] > 800: if image.size[1] > 600: Max_Size = (800, 600) if image.mode not in ('L', 'RGB'): image = image.convert('RGB') image.thumbnail(Max_Size, Image.ANTIALIAS) temp_handle = StringIO() image.save(temp_handle, 'jpeg') temp_handle.seek(0) suf = SimpleUploadedFile(os.path.split(self.photo.name)[-1], temp_handle.read(), content_type='image/jpg') self.photo.save(suf.name+'.jpg', suf, save=False) #enter info to database super(Photo, self).save()

  • UINavigationController as detail view of a UISplitViewController

    - by user309305
    Hi. I set up a navigation controller as detail view of a split view controller (NewFeedsNavigationController is inherited from UINavigationController). - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after app launch masterViewController = [[MasterViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; UINavigationController *masterNavigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:masterViewController]; NewsFeedsNavigationController *newsFeedsNavigationController = [[NewsFeedsNavigationController alloc] initWithCategories]; splitViewController = [[UISplitViewController alloc] init]; masterViewController.splitViewController = splitViewController; splitViewController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:masterNavigationController, newsFeedsNavigationController, nil]; splitViewController.delegate = newsFeedsNavigationController; // Add the split view controller's view to the window and display. [window addSubview:splitViewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } As a matter of fact the navigation controller works splendid in the portrait orientation but kind of freaks out in landscape orientation. when navigating back in the hierarchy (towards the root view) i always have to tap twice per view. on the first tap the visible view is poped from the stack and on the second tap the navigation bar turns. usually both of this happens at the same time. i have no idea what is going wrong.

  • Version control of software refactoring

    - by Muhammad Alkarouri
    What is the best way of doing version control of large scale refactoring? My typical style of programming (actually of writing documents as well) is getting something out as quickly as possible and then refactoring it. Typically, refactoring takes place at the same time as adding other functionality. In addition to standard refactoring of classes and functions, functions may move from one file to another, files get split and merged or just reordered. For the time being, I am using version control as a lone user, so there is no issue of interaction with other developers at this stage. Still, version control gives me two aspects: Backup and ability to revert to a good version "in case". Looking at the history tells me how the project progressed and the flow of ideas. I am using mercurial on windows using TortoiseHg which enables selections of hunks to commit. The reason I mention this is that I would like advice on the granularity of a commit in refactoring. Should I split refactoring from functionality added always in committing? I have looked at the answers of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/68459/refactoring-and-source-control-how-to but it doesn't answer my question. That question focuses on collaboration with a team. This one concentrates on having a history that is understandable in future (assuming I don't rewrite history as some VCS seem to allow).

  • UIKeyBoard resize on orientation change to landscape

    - by Dave
    This is very rookie question. I have a UIToolBar at the bottom which is supposed to animatedly move up and down with key board when the UIKeyBoard is displayed. I got that working with the help of UIKeyBoard Notifications. The view we are talking about has split view enabled. When device orientation is landscape, both the views as columns are shown [hope that makes sense]. When key board is shown, i do this CGSize keyBoardSize = [[notificationInfo objectForKey:UIKeyboardFrameEndUserInfoKey]CGRectValue].size; CGRect toolbarFrame= [BottomToolBar frame]; toolbarFrame.origin.y -= keyBoardSize.height; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3]; BottomToolBar .frame = viewFrame; [UIView commitAnimations]; when key board is hiiden i do this toolbarFrame.origin.y += keyBoardSize.height; My Problem is when device orientation changes to landscape, when the key board is visible the bottom tool bar is gone. I see it move up quickly. I am not sure how to fix this. Can anyone help please? Also, is there a way to NOT make the key board span across both the views in the split view?

  • fmod VS2008 unresolved externals in dependant project

    - by Tom J Nowell
    Im currently trying to use the latest stable fmod ex in my project. I have a main executable in a project called engine4, and a project named DX9Platform in the solution as well which ti depends on. All the fmod code is in this DX9Platform project, which generates a lib file. DX9Platform includes fmodex_vc.lib and builds fine. However buildign Engien4 results in unresolved external symbol messages referencing files that use fmod in the DX9Platform project I have tried adding fmodex_vc.lib to the Engine4 project, with no success, how do I fix this? • Detect the language & django locale-url

    - by mamcx
    I want to deploy a website in english & spanish and detect the user browser languaje & redirect to the correct locale site. My site is www.elmalabarista.com I install django-localeurl, but I discover that the languaje is not correctly detected. This are my middlewares: MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES = ( 'django.contrib.sessions.middleware.SessionMiddleware', 'django.middleware.locale.LocaleMiddleware', 'multilingual.middleware.DefaultLanguageMiddleware', 'middleware.feedburner.FeedburnerMiddleware', 'lib.threadlocals.ThreadLocalsMiddleware', 'middleware.url.UrlMiddleware', 'django.contrib.auth.middleware.AuthenticationMiddleware', 'maintenancemode.middleware.MaintenanceModeMiddleware', 'middleware.redirect.RedirectMiddleware', 'openidconsumer.middleware.OpenIDMiddleware', 'django.middleware.doc.XViewMiddleware', 'middleware.ajax_errors.AjaxMiddleware', 'pingback.middleware.PingbackMiddleware', 'localeurl.middleware.LocaleURLMiddleware', 'multilingual.flatpages.middleware.FlatpageFallbackMiddleware', 'django.middleware.common.CommonMiddleware', ) But ALWAYS the site get to US despite the fact my OS & Browser setup is spanish. LANGUAGES = ( ('en', ugettext('English')), ('es', ugettext('Spanish')), ) DEFAULT_LANGUAGE = 1 Then, I hack the middleware of locale-url and do this: def process_request(self, request): locale, path = self.split_locale_from_request(request) if request.META.has_key('HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'): locale = utils.supported_language(request.META['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'].split(',')[0]) locale_path = utils.locale_path(path, locale) if locale_path != request.path_info: if request.META.get("QUERY_STRING", ""): locale_path = "%s?%s" % (locale_path, request.META['QUERY_STRING']) return HttpResponseRedirect(locale_path) request.path_info = path if not locale: locale = settings.LANGUAGE_CODE translation.activate(locale) request.LANGUAGE_CODE = translation.get_language() However, this detect fine the language but redirect the "en" urls to "es". So is impossible navigate in english. UPDATE: This is the final code (after the input from Carl Meyer) with a fix for the case of "/": def process_request(self, request): locale, path = self.split_locale_from_request(request) if (not locale) or (locale==''): if request.META.has_key('HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'): locale = utils.supported_language(request.META['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'].split(',')[0]) else: locale = settings.LANGUAGE_CODE locale_path = utils.locale_path(path, locale) if locale_path != request.path_info: if request.META.get("QUERY_STRING", ""): locale_path = "%s?%s" % (locale_path, request.META['QUERY_STRING']) return HttpResponseRedirect(locale_path) request.path_info = path translation.activate(locale) request.LANGUAGE_CODE = translation.get_language()

  • QFileDialog filter from mime-types

    - by Mathias
    I want the filter in a QFileDialog to match all audio file types supported by Phonon on the platform in question. 1 - However I am not able to find a way in Qt to use mime types in a filter. How can I do that? 2 - Or how can I find the corresponding file extensions for the mimetypes manually? The solution should be Qt based, or at least be cross platform and supported everywhere Qt is. Following is a short code describing my problem: #include <QApplication> #include <QFileDialog> #include <QStringList> #include <phonon/backendcapabilities.h> QString mime_to_ext(QString mime) { // WHAT TO REALLY DO ?? // NEEDLESS TO SAY; THIS IS WRONG... return mime.split("/").back().split('-').back(); } int main(int argc, char **argv) { QApplication app(argc, argv); QStringList p_audio_exts; QStringList p_mime_types = Phonon::BackendCapabilities::availableMimeTypes(); for(QStringList::iterator i = p_mime_types.begin(), ie = p_mime_types.end(); i != ie; i++) { if((*i).startsWith("audio")) p_audio_exts << mime_to_ext(*i); } QString filter = QString("All Files(*)"); if(!p_audio_exts.isEmpty()) { QString p_audio_filter = QString("Audio Files (*.%1)").arg(p_audio_exts.join(" *.")); filter = QString("%1;;%2").arg(p_audio_filter).arg(filter); } QFileDialog dialog(NULL, "Open Audio File", QString::null, filter); dialog.exec(); }

  • Tail-recursive merge sort in OCaml

    - by CFP
    Hello world! I’m trying to implement a tail-recursive list-sorting function in OCaml, and I’ve come up with the following code: let tailrec_merge_sort l = let split l = let rec _split source left right = match source with | [] -> (left, right) | head :: tail -> _split tail right (head :: left) in _split l [] [] in let merge l1 l2 = let rec _merge l1 l2 result = match l1, l2 with | [], [] -> result | [], h :: t | h :: t, [] -> _merge [] t (h :: result) | h1 :: t1, h2 :: t2 -> if h1 < h2 then _merge t1 l2 (h1 :: result) else _merge l1 t2 (h2 :: result) in List.rev (_merge l1 l2 []) in let rec sort = function | [] -> [] | [a] -> [a] | list -> let left, right = split list in merge (sort left) (sort right) in sort l ;; Yet it seems that it is not actually tail-recursive, since I encounter a "Stack overflow during evaluation (looping recursion?)" error. Could you please help me spot the non tail-recursive call in this code? I've searched quite a lot, without finding it. Cout it be the let binding in the sort function? Thanks a lot, CFP.

  • Why is my app delegate's didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method all of sudden being called AFTER my Ro

    - by BeachRunnerJoe
    Hi. I've been playing with the iPad's SplitView template in Xcode. Here are two of the many important methods that are auto-generated for you by the Split View-based Application template... AppNameAppDelegate.m #pragma mark - #pragma mark Application lifecycle - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after app launch rootViewController.managedObjectContext = self.managedObjectContext; // Add the split view controller's view to the window and display. [window addSubview:splitViewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } RootViewController.m #pragma mark - #pragma mark View lifecycle - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.clearsSelectionOnViewWillAppear = NO; self.contentSizeForViewInPopover = CGSizeMake(320.0, 600.0); NSError *error = nil; if (![[self fetchedResultsController] performFetch:&error]) { NSLog(@"Unresolved error %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); abort(); } } When you build and run the project before making any changes at all, the application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method is called before the RootViewController:viewDidLoad method is called. I'm new to iPhone development, but I'm assuming this is the correct and typical sequence. However, as soon as I changed the RootViewController code and set it as a subclass of UIViewController (instead of UITableViewController by default), and made the respective adjustments in Interface Builder, suddenly the RootViewController:viewDidLoad is being called before the application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method. I need to get it back to the way it was working before because, as you can see in the code, the viewDidLoad method depends on didFinishLauchingWithOptions method to execute so it can set the rootViewController's managedObjectContext that it uses to perform the fetch request. Any ideas what caused this? Any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks so much in advance for your help! I'm gonna keep researching and playing with the code.

  • RMagic Error in rails, with AM Charts

    - by Elliot
    Hi Everyone, I'm using AMCharts and rails. AMCharts uses the Image Magic lib to export an image of the chart. In rails this is done with the gem, RMagic. In a controller this is implemented with the following controller method: def export width = params[:width].to_i height = params[:height].to_i data = {} img = Magick::Image.new(width, height) height.times do |y| row = params["r#{y}"].split(',') row.size.times do |r| pixel = row[r].to_s.split(':') pixel[0] = pixel[0].to_s.rjust(6, '0') if pixel.size == 2 pixel[1].to_i.times do (data[y] ||= []) << pixel[0] end else (data[y] ||= []) << pixel[0] end end width.times do |x| img.pixel_color(x, y, "##{data[y][x]}") end end img.format = "PNG" send_data(img.to_blob , :disposition => 'inline', :type => 'image/png', :filename => "chart.png?#{rand(99999999).to_i}") end When the controller is accessed however, I receive this error in the page: The change you wanted was rejected. • Adding AJAX call to function triggered popup blocker

    - by jerrygarciuh
    Hi folks, I have a client who wants to open variously sized images in a centered popup. I tried to get them to use FancyBox but they don't want interstitial presentation, so... I initially was opening a generic popup which resized and centered onload based on image size but they don't like the shift so I added a PHP script to echo the sizes and used jQuery to fetch the size info to feed into the pop up call. But it appears the delay this causes is setting off all popup blockers. Here is the JS $("#portfolioBigPic").click(function () { var src = $("#portfolioBigPic").attr('src'); var ar = src.split('/'); var fname = ar.pop(); fname = '/g/portfolio/clients/big/' + fname; $.get("imgsize.php", { i: fname}, function(data){ var dim = data.split(","); popit(fname,dim[0],dim[1]); }); }); function popit(img,w,h) { var features = 'width='+w+',height='+h+', toolbar=0, location=0, directories=0, status=0, menubar=0, scrollbars=0, resizable=1,'; var left = (screen.width/2)-(w/2); var top = 0; features += 'top='+top+',left='+left; bigpic = window.open('portfolioBigPic.php?img='+img, 'bigpic',features); bigpic.focus(); } The only difference between dodging the blockers and failing is that I added the AJAX .get and use it to specify w and h. Any thoughts on how to avoid this? Maybe I should use PHP to get widths and heights of all the big pics and write a JS array of them when this page loads? Am I right that the delay caused by fetching the data is tripping the blockers? Thoughts? Any advice much appreciated. JG

  • Can't get any speedup from parallelizing Quicksort using Pthreads

    - by Murat Ayfer
    I'm using Pthreads to create a new tread for each partition after the list is split into the right and left halves (less than and greater than the pivot). I do this recursively until I reach the maximum number of allowed threads. When I use printfs to follow what goes on in the program, I clearly see that each thread is doing its delegated work in parallel. However using a single process is always the fastest. As soon as I try to use more threads, the time it takes to finish almost doubles, and keeps increasing with number of threads. I am allowed to use up to 16 processors on the server I am running it on. The algorithm goes like this: Split array into right and left by comparing the elements to the pivot. Start a new thread for the right and left, and wait until the threads join back. If there are more available threads, they can create more recursively. Each thread waits for its children to join. Everything makes sense to me, and sorting works perfectly well, but more threads makes it slow down immensely. I tried setting a minimum number of elements per partition for a thread to be started (e.g. 50000). I tried an approach where when a thread is done, it allows another thread to be started, which leads to hundreds of threads starting and finishing throughout. I think the overhead was way too much. So I got rid of that, and if a thread was done executing, no new thread was created. I got a little more speedup but still a lot slower than a single process. The code I used is below. http://pastebin.com/UaGsjcq2 Does anybody have any clue as to what I could be doing wrong?

  • How do I play back a WAV in ActionScript?

    - by Jeremy White
    Please see the class I have created at http://textsnip.com/51013f for parsing a WAVE file in ActionScript 3.0. This class is correctly pulling apart info from the file header & fmt chunks, isolating the data chunk, and creating a new ByteArray to store the data chunk. It takes in an uncompressed WAVE file with a format tag of 1. The WAVE file is embedded into my SWF with the following Flex embed tag: [Embed(source="some_sound.wav", mimeType="application/octet-stream")] public var sound_class:Class; public var wave:WaveFile = new WaveFile(new sound_class()); After the data chunk is separated, the class attempts to make a Sound object that can stream the samples from the data chunk. I'm having issues with the streaming process, probably because I'm not good at math and don't really know what's happening with the bits/bytes, etc. Here are the two documents I'm using as a reference for the WAVE file format: http://www.lightlink.com/tjweber/StripWav/Canon.html https://ccrma.stanford.edu/courses/422/projects/WaveFormat/ Right now, the file IS playing back! In real time, even! But...the sound is really distorted. What's going on?

  • Multiple sendto() using UDP socket

    - by ereOn
    Hi, I have a network software which uses UDP to communicate with other instances of the same program. For different reasons, I must use UDP here. I recently had problems sending huge ammounts of data over UDP and had to implement a fragmentation system to split my messages into small data chunks. So far, it worked well but I now encounter an issue when I have to send a lot of data chunks. I have the following algorithm: Split message into small data chunks (around 1500 bytes) Iterate over the data chunks list and for each, send it using sendto() However, when I send a lot of data chunks, the receiver only gets the first 6 messages. Sometimes it misses the sixth and receives the seventh. It depends. Anyway, sendto() always indicates success. This always happen when I test my software over a loopback interface (127.0.0.1) but never over my LAN network. If I add something like std::cout << "test" << std::endl; between the sendto() then every frame is received. I am aware that UDP allows packet loss and that my frames might be loss for a lot of reasons and I suppose it has to do with the rate I am sending the data chunks at. What would be the right approach here ? Implementing some acknowledgement mechanism (just like TCP) seems overkill. Adding some arbitrary waiting time between the sendto() is ugly and will probably decrease performance. Increasing (if possible) the receiver UDP internal buffer ? I don't even know if this is possible. Something else ? I really need your advices here. Thank very much.

  • Posting xml from classic asp to asp.net

    - by Chris Dunaway
    I apologize if this has been asked before. I searched and didn't find anything that matched my situation. Also bear in mind I am fairly new to asp/asp.net development. My current project is a relatively simple e-commerce site. The customer will connect to the site, select products, input shipping and billing information, payment information (credit card) and submit the order. The project is being split into two parts: The store front which includes displaying the items and taking the customer's shipping and billing information and the payment site which will collect the customers credit card, compute tax, and save the order into the company's system. The reason that the site was split up, was that our side (payment side) already has facilities for credit card handling and tax computation. There may also be some regulatory issues that the store front side does not want to deal with (which we already do). I'm working on the payment portion of the app and I am using asp.net. The store front side is being written in classic asp (not my decision). Each part will be hosted on different servers. The problem I am having is transferring the contents of the "shopping cart" to our app so that we can collect the cc info and submit the order. We had thought that the classic asp could somehow post an xml fragment which contains the billing/shipping info and the items selected. Our side would display a summary of the order, securely collect the credit card info, and submit the order to our system. But I have been unable to post or send the xml from a classic asp on one server, to our asp.net application on another. It all works just fine when I test on the same server. How can I post (or otherwise transfer) the shopping cart data from classic asp to asp.net across server boundaries and transfer control to the asp.net application? As I said, I am new to web development, so this is proving quite a challenge for me. Thanks

  • jQuery Flow Control (if then from URL params)

    - by Ryan Max
    Strangely enough I am more familiar with jQuery than I am with javascript. I need to be able to add a class to the body tag of a document depending on what specific forum page i'm on in a phpbb forum. Due to the nature of phpbb I can't actually do this flow control in php, so I am using jquery. Here's my code (the first part is an extend that gets the url parameters like so http://www.mysite.com/viewforum.php?f=3 var forum = $.getUrlVar('f'); will make forum == 3 because of the nature of phpbb i can't really do any flow control with php. So I am using jquery. This is my code: $(document).ready(function(){ $.extend({ getUrlVars: function(){ var vars = [], hash; var hashes = window.location.href.slice(window.location.href.indexOf('?') + 1).split('&'); for(var i = 0; i < hashes.length; i++) { hash = hashes[i].split('='); vars.push(hash[0]); vars[hash[0]] = hash[1]; } return vars; }, getUrlVar: function(name){ return $.getUrlVars()[name]; } }); }); $(document).ready(function(){ var forum = $.getUrlVar('f'); if (forum == 3){ $('body').toggleClass('black'); } }); Yet this isn't working. Any idea why not?

  • [URGENT] IE: ‘nodeType’ is null or not an object

    - by Patrick
    hi, I'm having this issue on my website in IE (6,7,8): ‘nodeType’ is null or not an object The error refers to "f.nodeType" property. Basically f is undefined, so the issue is before, but I cannot fix it. Could you give me some help ? www.donatellabernardi.ch/drupal (from IE developer toolbar debug it appears to be this line that is throwing the error) (autocolumn.min.js line 13 expanded below for readability) function split($putInHere,$pullOutHere,$parentColumn,height){ if($pullOutHere.children().length){ $cloneMe=$pullOutHere.children(":first"); $clone=$cloneMe.clone(true); if($clone.attr("nodeType")==1&&!$clone.hasClass("dontend")){ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Chokes on $putInHere.append($clone); if($clone.is("img")&&$parentColumn.height()<height+20){ $cloneMe.remove(); }else if(!$cloneMe.hasClass("dontsplit")&&$parentColumn.height()<height+20){ $cloneMe.remove(); }else if($clone.is("img")||$cloneMe.hasClass("dontsplit")){ $clone.remove(); }else{ $clone.empty(); if(!columnize($clone,$cloneMe,$parentColumn,height)){ if($cloneMe.children().length){ split($clone,$cloneMe,$parentColumn,height); } } if($clone.get(0).childNodes.length==0){ $clone.remove(); } } } } } Thanks

  • using python 'with' statement with iterators?

    - by Stephen
    Hi, I'm using Python 2.5. I'm trying to use this 'with' statement. from __future__ import with_statement a = [] with open('exampletxt.txt','r') as f: while True: a.append(f.next().strip().split()) print a The contents of 'exampletxt.txt' are simple: a b In this case, I get the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/tmp/python-7036sVf.py", line 5, in <module> a.append(f.next().strip().split()) StopIteration And if I replace f.next() with f.read(), it seems to be caught in an infinite loop. I wonder if I have to write a decorator class that accepts the iterator object as an argument, and define an __exit__ method for it? I know it's more pythonic to use a for-loop for iterators, but I wanted to implement a while loop within a generator that's called by a for-loop... something like def g(f): while True: x = f.next() if test1(x): a = x elif test2(x): b = f.next() yield [a,x,b] a = [] with open(filename) as f: for x in g(f): a.append(x)

  • What does this code from AuthKit do? (where are these functions and methods defined?)

    - by Beau Simensen
    I am trying to implement my own authentication method for AuthKit and am trying to figure out how some of the built-in methods work. In particular, I'm trying to figure out how to update the REMOTE_USER for environ correctly. This is how it is handled inside of authkit.authenticate.basic but it is pretty confusing. I cannot find anyplace where REMOTE_USER and AUTH_TYPE are defined. Is there something strange going on here and if so, what is it? def __call__(self, environ, start_response): environ['authkit.users'] = self.users result = self.authenticate(environ) if isinstance(result, str): AUTH_TYPE.update(environ, 'basic') REMOTE_USER.update(environ, result) return self.application(environ, start_response) There are actually a number of all uppercase things like this that I cannot find a definition for. For example, where does AUTHORIZATION come from below: def authenticate(self, environ): authorization = AUTHORIZATION(environ) if not authorization: return self.build_authentication() (authmeth, auth) = authorization.split(' ',1) if 'basic' != authmeth.lower(): return self.build_authentication() auth = auth.strip().decode('base64') username, password = auth.split(':',1) if self.authfunc(environ, username, password): return username return self.build_authentication() I feel like maybe I am missing some special syntax handling for the environ dict, but it is possible that there is something else really weird going on here that isn't immediately obvious to someone as new to Python as myself.

  • How do I handle a POST request in Perl and FastCGI?

    - by Peterim
    Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Perl, so asking here. Actually I'm using FCGI with Perl. I need to 1. accept a POST request - 2. send it via POST to another url - 3. get results - 4. return results to the first POST request (4 steps). To accept a POST request (step 1) I use the following code (found it somewhere in the Internet): $ENV{'REQUEST_METHOD'} =~ tr/a-z/A-Z/; if ($ENV{'REQUEST_METHOD'} eq "POST") { read(STDIN, $buffer, $ENV{'CONTENT_LENGTH'}); } else { print ("some error"); } @pairs = split(/&/, $buffer); foreach $pair (@pairs) { ($name, $value) = split(/=/, $pair); $value =~ tr/+/ /; $value =~ s/%(..)/pack("C", hex($1))/eg; $FORM{$name} = $value; } The content of $name (it's a string) is the result of the first step. Now I need to send $name via POST request to some_url (step 2) which returns me another result (step 3), which I have to return as a result to the very first POST request (step 4). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • java regex: capture multiline sequence between tokens

    - by Guillaume
    I'm struggling with regex for splitting logs files into log sequence in order to match pattern inside these sequences. log format is: timestamp fieldA fieldB fieldn log message1 timestamp fieldA fieldB fieldn log message2 log message2bis timestamp fieldA fieldB fieldn log message3 The timestamp regex is known. I want to extract every log sequence (potentialy multiline) between timestamps. And I want to keep the timestamp. I want in the same time to keep the exact count of lines. What I need is how to decorate timestamp pattern to make it split my log file in log sequence. I can not split the whole file as a String, since the file content is provided in a CharBuffer Here is sample method that will be using this log sequence matcher: private void matches(File f, CharBuffer cb) { Matcher sequenceBreak = sequencePattern.matcher(cb); // sequence matcher int lines = 1; int sequences = 0; while (sequenceBreak.find()) { sequences++; String sequence = sequenceBreak.group(); if (filter.accept(sequence)) { System.out.println(f + ":" + lines + ":" + sequence); } //count lines Matcher lineBreak = LINE_PATTERN.matcher(sequence); while (lineBreak.find()) { lines++; } if (sequenceBreak.end() == cb.limit()) { break; } } }
