    All classes derived from a certain base class have to define an attribute called "path". In the sense of duck typing I could rely upon definition in the subclasses: class Base: pass # no "path" variable here def Sub(Base): def __init__(self): self.path = "something/" Another possiblity would be to use the base class constructor: class Base: def __init__(self, path): self.path = path def Sub(Base): def __init__(self): super().__init__("something/") What would you prefer and why?     I have the following HTML table: <table style="width: 100%;"> <tr> <td class="title_bar_left_border"></td> <td class="title_bar_middle"></td> <td class="title_bar_right_border"></td> </tr> </table> With the following css rules: .title_bar_left_border { BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(tray_left.gif); WIDTH: 3px; HEIGHT: 24px; } .title_bar_right_border { BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(tray_right.gif); WIDTH: 3px; HEIGHT: 24px; } .title_bar_middle { BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(tray_middle.gif); WIDTH: 100%; BACKGROUND-REPEAT: repeat-x; HEIGHT: 24px; } Any idea why this is the result? Instead of getting a nice table header with rounded corners you get this weird gap between the cells. Where are the gaps coming from? Besides fixing this ugly issue, I would like to understand the rationale as to why all browsers render the HTML this way.

  • Wordpress auto-generated "canonical" link - get them to use a custom URL parameter?

    Hello - Does anyone know how to modify the Wordpress canonical links to add a custom URL parameter? I have a Wordpress site with a page that queries a separate (non-Wordpress) database. I passed the URL parameter "pubID" to display individual books and it is working OK. Example: http://www.uglyducklingpresse.org/catalog/browse/item/?pubID=63 But the individual books are not showing up properly in Google - the ?pubID parameter is stripped out. I think maybe this is because all the item pages have the same auto-generated "canonical" URL link tag in the source - one with the "pubID" parameter stripped out. Example: link rel='canonical' href='http://www.uglyducklingpresse.org/catalog/browse/item/' Is there a way to perhaps edit .htaccess to add a custom URL parameter to Wordpress, so that the parameter is not stripped out by permalinks and the "canonical" links? Or maybe there's another solution ... Thank you for any ideas!

  • CSS: 100% of container height without modifying the container

    Yeah, this ugly question again. I'm writing some HTML that gets inserted into a page. I have no control over the rest of the page. The structure is something like: <table <tr <td rowspan="2"left column</td <td height="1"top row above content</td </tr <tr<td height="220"my content here</td</tr </table I can write whatever I want into that table cell (including style tags to pack in my CSS), but I can't touch anything outside of it, which means I can't set the height of any parent element (including html and body), add a doctype (it has none), etc - that already kills just about every solution I can find (all seem to be "add a doctype" and/or "give the parent container a fixed height"). What I want to do is simply have a <div fill the entire cell. Width is no problem but unsurprisingly height is being a massive pain. Writing "height: 100%" doesn't do anything unless the container has a fixed height (the height="220" attribute apparently doesn't count) or the div uses absolute positioning - and then it seems to want to use 100% of the window's height (and width even) instead of the cell's. The root of the problem is the left column varies in height, as does the content, and when the left column cell is larger than the content, it won't expand to fill the cell it's in. If I set a fixed height for the content, it'll be much larger than necessary most of the time, and if I don't, it doesn't take up all of the cell and leaves an ugly gap at the bottom.

    Looking at some code examples for HtmlHelpers, and I see declarations that look like: public static string HelperName(this HtmlHelper htmlHelper, ...more regular params ) I can't remember seeing this type of construct any where else - can someone explain the purpose of the "this"? I thought that by declaring something public static meant that the class did not need to be instantiated - so what is "this" in this case?

    I am writing a class called Word, that handles a c string and overloads the <, , <=, = operators. word.h: friend bool operator<(const Word &a, const Word &b); word.cc: bool operator<(const Word &a, const Word &b) { if(a == NULL && b == NULL) return false; if(a == NULL) return true; if(b == NULL) return false; return a.wd < b.wd; //wd is a valid c string } main: char* temp = NULL; //EDIT: i was mistaken, temp is a char pointer Word a("blah"); //a.wd = [b,l,a,h] cout << (temp<a); i get a segmentation error before the first line of the operator< method after the last line in the main. I can correct the problem by writing cout << (a>temp); where the operator> is similarly defined and i get no errors. but my assignment requires (temp < a) to work so this is where i ask for help.     SELECT Transactions.TransactionNumber FROM Transactions WHERE (((Transactions.Date)>=#11/23/12#)) AND (((Transactions.Date)<=#11/23/12#)); The above code returns all the transaction that happened between the specified dates. But I want those dates to be defined by the user every time the query is executed. I tried using the [] operators to have the user define the criteria in the WHERE, something like this: WHERE (((Transactions.Date)>=[Input a Date])) AND (((Transactions.Date)<=[Input a Date])); But microsoft Access throws a Syntax error message. The same happens when I include the # (date operators) like this WHERE (((Transactions.Date)>=#[Input a Date]#)) AND (((Transactions.Date)<=#[Input a Date]#)); Is there anopther way to manage dates that I'm not aware of or is asking a user for dates in a query out of the question

    I'm having problems with an MBean that takes a Map<String, Object> as a parameter. If I try to execute it via JMX using a proxy object, I get an Exception: Caused by: javax.management.ReflectionException at org.jboss.mx.server.AbstractMBeanInvoker.invoke(AbstractMBeanInvoker.java:231) at org.jboss.mx.server.MBeanServerImpl.invoke(MBeanServerImpl.java:668) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:597) Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unable to find operation updateProperties(java.util.HashMap) It appears that it attempts to use the actual implementation class rather than the interface, and doesn't check if this is a child of the required interface. The same thing happens for extended classes (for example declare HashMap, pass in LinkedHashMap). Does this mean it's impossible to use an interface for such methods? At the moment I'm getting around it by changing the method signature to accept a HashMap, but it seems odd that I wouldn't be able to use interfaces (or extended classes) in my MBeans. Edit: The proxy object is being created by an in-house utility class called JmxInvocationHandler.   • Positioning Photos in a Grid (HTML)

    Hey Everyone, I've been trying to code this page for a while, but my biggest problem is that I can't seem to get the photos perfectly positioned. For some reason, there is a small bottom padding in each <td>which is messing things up.     Though I don't doubt this has been answered I cannot find a great match for my question. I have a table for which I'd like to filter rows based on whether or not they contain a hidden field matching a value.   • How to link to an Excel pivot table that will expand over time in Word 2007?

    I have a pivot table in Excel 2007 which I’ve pasted it into Word 2007 using Paste Special (Paste link) - Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet Object. The pivot table appears in Word and the link to Excel is working. The problem is that if the pivot table expands (for example, due to showing 12 months of data rather than six months) the link to the pivot table in Word will only show the range cells that were originally copied over with the pivot table. I understand why this happens. When I paste as a link to Word the underling field codes look like this: {LINK Excel.Sheet.8 "C:\Users\myAccount\Documents\testexcel.xlsx" "Sheet2!R1C1:R8C2" \a \p} The codes refer to a fixed area (e.g., Sheet2!R1C1:R8C2 ) of the Excel spreadsheet, and so when the pivot table expands, the expanded cells fall outside the area that is defined in the field codes. Is there some way to have the link refer to the pivot table itself rather than the cell range that happened to be originally copied over from Excel?

  • Facebook PHP SDK - can't pass parameters to getLoginUrl()

    I'm using the Facebook PHP SDK for simple login with extended permissions. I'm using the example code from the SDK docs, but I found that I need to manually clear out the FB session data otherwise if($user) comes back as true even though the user is logged out. I have the app going to logout.php upon logout; this page clears out the session vars and redirects to the app home page. Once I clear out the FB session data, log in/log out works fine. However, it stops working if I pass $params to the getLoginUrl function.   • Send custom data when initializing java WebService over soap

    Hello. I have a question about sending additional data over soap to the functions. My webService function requests only one integer, for example an getDocumentPrivilage(DocumentID). In another WebService user registered and he got an unique ID, so the other application can see who he is. So on Service one he registers, gets id and it has to send it to the other webservice tor the privilage. Id dont wish to rewrite the function so that it gets the unique ID (like this getDocumentPrivilage(uniqID,DocumentID)) but, the wish is that i would be able to create a client that sends this data at the initialization or somehow as some sort of parameter behind the function. Is this possible?? I tried the ServiceLifecycle but cant see any setting i've given in. Im using WebSphere CE for the server and Jax-ws Creating the webapp in java.   • Post parameters to a frame of new window

    I have to modify an existing web search page. There is a page, where all the search filters are (form with name "searchform"). When the search button is pressed, results are shown in new window. Because the search takes up to 30 seconds, and while searching the window stays blank, I have to add a label "Searching. Please wait..." at the new created window with the results. So the search window is created, and I set it's location to a frameset. First frame will show the label, and the second will show the results. But i can't manage to update the second frame with the results.   • Update table using SSIS

    I am trying to update a field in a table with data from another table, based on a common key. If it were in straight SQL, it would be something like: Update EHSIT set e.IDMSObjID = s.IDMSObjID from EHSIT e, EHSIDMS s where e.SITENUM = s.SITE_CODE However, the two tables are not in the same database, so I'm trying to use SSIS to do the update. Oh, and the sitenum/site_code are varchar in one and nvarchar in the other, so I'll have to do a data conversion so they'll match. How do I do it? I have a data flow object, with the source as EHSIDMS and the destination as EHSIT. I have a data conversion to convert the unicode to non-unicode. But how do I update based on the match? I've tried with the destination, using a SQL Command as the Data Access mode, but it doesn't appear to have the source table. If I just map the field to be updated, how does it limit it based on fields matching? I'm about to export my source table to Excel or something, and then try inputting from there, although it seems that all that would get me would be to remove the data conversion step. Shouldn't there be an update data task or something? Is it one of those Data Flow transformation tasks, and I'm just not figuring out which it is?
