  • How to return a single variable from a CUDA kernel function?

    - by Pooya
    I have a CUDA search function which calculate one single variable. How can I return it back. global void G_SearchByNameID(node* Node, long nodeCount, long start,char* dest, long answer){ answer = 2; } cudaMemcpy(h_answer, d_answer, sizeof(long), cudaMemcpyDeviceToHost); cudaFree(d_answer); for both of these lines I get this error: error: argument of type "long" is incompatible with parameter of type "const void *"

  • Why this base64 function stop working when increasing max length?

    - by flyout
    I am using this class to encode/decode text to base64. It works fine with MAX_LEN up to 512 but if I increase it to 1024 the decode function returns and empty var. This is the function: char* Base64::encode(char *src) { char* ptr = dst+0; unsigned triad; unsigned int d_len = MAX_LEN; memset(dst,'\0', MAX_LEN); unsigned s_len = strlen(src); for (triad = 0; triad < s_len; triad += 3) { unsigned long int sr = 0; unsigned byte; for (byte = 0; (byte<3)&&(triad+byte<s_len); ++byte) { sr <<= 8; sr |= (*(src+triad+byte) & 0xff); } sr <<= (6-((8*byte)%6))%6; // shift left to next 6bit alignment if (d_len < 4) return NULL; // error - dest too short *(ptr+0) = *(ptr+1) = *(ptr+2) = *(ptr+3) = '='; switch(byte) { case 3: *(ptr+3) = base64[sr&0x3f]; sr >>= 6; case 2: *(ptr+2) = base64[sr&0x3f]; sr >>= 6; case 1: *(ptr+1) = base64[sr&0x3f]; sr >>= 6; *(ptr+0) = base64[sr&0x3f]; } ptr += 4; d_len -= 4; } return dst; } Why could be causing this?

  • Streaming binary data to WCF rest service gives Bad Request (400) when content length is greater than 64k

    - by Mikey Cee
    I have a WCF service that takes a stream: [ServiceContract] public class UploadService : BaseService { [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(BodyStyle=WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare, Method=WebRequestMethods.Http.Post)] public void Upload(Stream data) { // etc. } } This method is to allow my Silverlight application to upload large binary files, the easiest way being to craft the HTTP request by hand from the client. Here is the code in the Silverlight client that does this: const int contentLength = 64 * 1024; // 64 Kb var request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://localhost:8732/UploadService/"); request.AllowWriteStreamBuffering = false; request.Method = WebRequestMethods.Http.Post; request.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"; request.ContentLength = contentLength; using (var outputStream = request.GetRequestStream()) { outputStream.Write(new byte[contentLength], 0, contentLength); outputStream.Flush(); using (var response = request.GetResponse()); } Now, in the case above, where I am streaming 64 kB of data (or less), this works OK and if I set a breakpoint in my WCF method, and I can examine the stream and see 64 kB worth of zeros - yay! The problem arises if I send anything more than 64 kB of data, for instance by changing the first line of my client code to the following: const int contentLength = 64 * 1024 + 1; // 64 kB + 1 B This now throws an exception when I call request.GetResponse(): The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request. In my WCF configuration I have set maxReceivedMessageSize, maxBufferSize and maxBufferPoolSize to 2147483647, but to no avail. Here are the relevant sections from my service's app.config: <service name="UploadService"> <endpoint address="" binding="webHttpBinding" bindingName="StreamedRequestWebBinding" contract="UploadService" behaviorConfiguration="webBehavior"> <identity> <dns value="localhost" /> </identity> </endpoint> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="http://localhost:8732/UploadService/" /> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> <bindings> <webHttpBinding> <binding name="StreamedRequestWebBinding" bypassProxyOnLocal="true" useDefaultWebProxy="false" hostNameComparisonMode="WeakWildcard" sendTimeout="00:05:00" openTimeout="00:05:00" receiveTimeout="00:05:00" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647" transferMode="StreamedRequest"> <readerQuotas maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" /> </binding> </webHttpBinding> </bindings> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="webBehavior"> <webHttp /> </behavior> <endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> How do I make my service accept more than 64 kB of streamed post data?

  • Interface for reading variable length files with header and footer.

    - by John S
    I could use some hints or tips for a decent interface for reading file of special characteristics. The files in question has a header (~120 bytes), a body (1 byte - 3gb) and a footer (4 bytes). The header contains information about the body and the footer is only a simple CRC32-value of the body. I use Java so my idea was to extend the "InputStream" class and add a constructor such as "public MyInStream( InputStream in)" where I immediately read the header and the direct the overridden read()'s the body. Problem is, I can't give the user of the class the CRC32-value until the whole body has been read. Because the file can be 3gb large, putting it all in memory is a be an idea. Reading it all in to a temporary file is going to be a performance hit if there are many small files. I don't know how large the file is because the InputStream doesn't have to be a file, it could be a socket. Looking at it again, maybe extending InputStream is a bad idea. Thank you for reading the confused thoughts of a tired programmer. :)

    Can I use a spark variable inside an html helper? Say we have <var url="Url.Action(“get”)" /> !{Html.Image("~/Content/up.png")} Now if I need to use the url inside Html.Image as an attribute(part of the 2nd param) to get <img src="~/Content/up.png" type="~/engine/get" /> how do I go about doing it?

  • How to use a separate class to validate credit card numbers in C#

    - by EvanRyan
    I have set up a class to validate credit card numbers. The credit card type and number are selected on a form in a separate class. I'm trying to figure out how to get the credit card type and number that are selected in the other class (frmPayment) in to my credit card class algorithm: public enum CardType { MasterCard, Visa, AmericanExpress } public sealed class CardValidator { public static string SelectedCardType { get; private set; } public static string CardNumber { get; private set; } private CardValidator(string selectedCardType, string cardNumber) { SelectedCardType = selectedCardType; CardNumber = cardNumber; } public static bool Validate(CardType cardType, string cardNumber) { byte[] number = new byte[16]; int length = 0; for (int i = 0; i < cardNumber.Length; i++) { if (char.IsDigit(cardNumber, i)) { if (length == 16) return false; number[length++] = byte.Parse(cardNumber[i]); //not working. find different way to parse } } switch(cardType) { case CardType.MasterCard: if(length != 16) return false; if(number[0] != 5 || number[1] == 0 || number[1] > 5) return false; break; case CardType.Visa: if(length != 16 & length != 13) return false; if(number[0] != 4) return false; break; case CardType.AmericanExpress: if(length != 15) return false; if(number[0] != 3 || (number[1] != 4 & number[1] != 7)) return false; break; } // Use Luhn Algorithm to validate int sum = 0; for(int i = length - 1; i >= 0; i--) { if(i % 2 == length % 2) { int n = number[i] * 2; sum += (n / 10) + (n % 10); } else sum += number[i]; } return (sum % 10 == 0); } }

    - by Charles Marsh
    Hello All, I just posted a question about opening in a new window but if I use window.location it doesn't work?? is there a problem with my javascript? <script type="text/javascript"> function setOptions(chosen){ var selbox = document.formName.table; selbox.options.length = 0; if (chosen == " ") { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('No diploma selected',' '); } if (chosen == "1") { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('first choice - option one','http://www.pitman-training.com'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('first choice - option two','onetwo'); } if (chosen == "2") { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('second choice - option one','twoone'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('second choice - option two','twotwo'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('second choice - option three','twothree'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('second choice - option four','twofour'); } if (chosen == "3") { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('third choice - option one','threeone'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('third choice - option two','threetwo'); } } </script> Its a little messy I know... <form name="formName" method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>"> <select name="optone" size="1" onchange="setOptions(document.formName.optone.options[document.formName.optone.selectedIndex].value);"> <option value=" " selected="selected">Please select a diploma</option> <option value="1">First Choice</option> <option value="2">Second Choice</option> <option value="3">Third Choice</option> </select> <select name="table" size="1" > <option value=" " selected="selected">No diploma selected</option> </select> <input type="submit" onclick="ob=this.form.table;window.location(ob.options[ob.selectedIndex].value)"/> </form> to be honest I'm not happy with this anyway I want a way to hide the Submit button until the second selected box has been selected...but I'm no java expert! Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Sending the array of arbitrary length through a socket. Endianness.

    - by Negai
    Hi everyone, I'm fighting with socket programming now and I've encountered a problem, which I don't know how to solve in a portable way. The task is simple : I need to send the array of 16 bytes over the network, receive it in a client application and parse it. I know, there are functions like htonl, htons and so one to use with uint16 and uint32. But what should I do with the chunks of data greater than that? Thank you.

  • How to get the current exception without having passing the variable?

    - by Pierre-Alain Vigeant
    I am looking for a way to retrieve the current exception without having to pass it as a variable. Suppose the following code public void MakeItFail() { try { throw new FailException(); } catch // Yes I'm aware that this shouldn't be done, but I don't want to go through all the code base and change it { ShowMessage("An error occured"); } } public void ShowMessage(string message) { // How can I retrieve the exception here } In the watch window, I can use $exception to get the current exception. Is there is a code equivalent?

  • Please help, now I have a matrix, I want use Combination algorithm to generate a array for length 6

    - by user313429
    The first thanks a lot for your help , the following is my matrix, I want to implement combination algorithm between multiple arrays in LINQ for this matrix. int[,] cj = { { 10, 23, 16, 20 }, { 22, 13, 1, 33 }, { 7, 19, 31, 12 }, { 30, 14, 21, 4 }, { 2, 29, 32, 6 }, { 18, 26, 17, 8 }, { 25, 11, 5, 28 }, { 24, 3, 15, 27 } }; other: public static IEnumerable<IEnumerable<T>> Combinations<T>(this IEnumerable<T> elements, int k) { return k == 0 ? new[] { new T[0] } : elements.SelectMany((e, i) => elements.Skip(i + 1).**Combinations**(k - 1).Select(c => (new[] { e }).Concat(c))); } The above method has a error in my project, System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable' does not contain a definition for 'Combinations' and no extension method 'Combinations' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference? I use .Net Framework3.5, what is the reason it?

  • c# create an arbitrary length generic parameter string e.g. ?,?,?

    - by Sky Sanders
    I know I am forgetting to remember how to do this and it is late. I want to, in an elegant manner, build a placeholder list for a munged sql command. Have a command with an arbitrary number of parameters, need to build ?,?,? Did I mention that it was a wet brain fart? this is what came out: Regex.Replace(new string('?', _command.Parameters.Count), @"\?\?", @"\?,\?"); You are welcome to make me feel like more of an idiot if you just remember me what I am forgetting. ;-)

  • How should I call the operation that limit a string's length?

    - by egarcia
    This is a language-agnostic question - unless you count English as a language. I've got this list of items which can have very long names. For aesthetic purposes, these names must be made shorter in some cases, adding dots (...) to indicate that the name is longer. So for example, if article.name returns this: lorem ipsum dolor sit amet I'd like to get this other output. lorem ipsum dolor ... I can program this quite easily. My question is: how should I call that shortening operation? I mean the name, not the implementation. Is there a standard English name for it?

  • Is there limit of "join" or the "where" or length of SQL query ?

    - by Chetan sharma
    Actually i was trying to get data from elgg database based on multiple joins. It generated very big query with lots of JOIN statements and query never respond back. SELECT distinct e.* from test_entities e JOIN test_metadata m1 on e.guid = m1.entity_guid JOIN test_metastrings ms1 on ms1.id = m1.name_id JOIN test_metastrings mv1 on mv1.id = m1.value_id JOIN test_objects_entity obj on e.guid = obj.guid JOIN test_metadata m2 on e.guid = m2.entity_guid JOIN test_metastrings ms2 on ms2.id = m2.name_id JOIN test_metastrings mv2 on mv2.id = m2.value_id JOIN test_metadata m3 on e.guid = m3.entity_guid JOIN test_metastrings ms3 on ms3.id = m3.name_id JOIN test_metastrings mv3 on mv3.id = m3.value_id JOIN test_metadata m4 on e.guid = m4.entity_guid JOIN test_metastrings ms4 on ms4.id = m4.name_id JOIN test_metastrings mv4 on mv4.id = m4.value_id JOIN test_metadata m5 on e.guid = m5.entity_guid JOIN test_metastrings ms5 on ms5.id = m5.name_id JOIN test_metastrings mv5 on mv5.id = m5.value_id JOIN test_metadata m6 on e.guid = m6.entity_guid JOIN test_metastrings ms6 on ms6.id = m6.name_id JOIN test_metastrings mv6 on mv6.id = m6.value_id where ms1.string='expire_date' and mv1.string <= 1272565800 and ms2.string='homecity' and mv2.string LIKE "%dasf%" and ms3.string='schoolname' and mv3.string LIKE "%asdf%" and ms4.string='award_amount' and mv4.string <= 123 and ms5.string='no_of_awards' and mv5.string <= 7 and ms6.string='avg_rating' and mv6.string <= 2 and e.type = 'object' and e.subtype = 5 and e.site_guid = 1 and (obj.title like '%asdf%') OR (obj.description like '%asdf%') and ( (e.access_id = -2 AND e.owner_guid IN ( SELECT guid_one FROM test_entity_relationships WHERE relationship='friend' AND guid_two=5 )) OR (e.access_id IN (2,1) OR (e.owner_guid = 5) OR ( e.access_id = 0 AND e.owner_guid = 5 ) ) and e.enabled='yes') and ( (m1.access_id = -2 AND m1.owner_guid IN ( SELECT guid_one FROM test_entity_relationships WHERE relationship='friend' AND guid_two=5 )) OR (m1.access_id IN (2,1) OR (m1.owner_guid = 5) OR ( m1.access_id = 0 AND m1.owner_guid = 5 ) ) and m1.enabled='yes') and ( (m2.access_id = -2 AND m2.owner_guid IN ( SELECT guid_one FROM test_entity_relationships WHERE relationship='friend' AND guid_two=5 )) OR (m2.access_id IN (2,1) OR (m2.owner_guid = 5) OR ( m2.access_id = 0 AND m2.owner_guid = 5 ) ) and m2.enabled='yes') and ( (m3.access_id = -2 AND m3.owner_guid IN ( SELECT guid_one FROM test_entity_relationships WHERE relationship='friend' AND guid_two=5 )) OR (m3.access_id IN (2,1) OR (m3.owner_guid = 5) OR ( m3.access_id = 0 AND m3.owner_guid = 5 ) ) and m3.enabled='yes') and ( (m4.access_id = -2 AND m4.owner_guid IN ( SELECT guid_one FROM test_entity_relationships WHERE relationship='friend' AND guid_two=5 )) OR (m4.access_id IN (2,1) OR (m4.owner_guid = 5) OR ( m4.access_id = 0 AND m4.owner_guid = 5 ) ) and m4.enabled='yes') and ( (m5.access_id = -2 AND m5.owner_guid IN ( SELECT guid_one FROM test_entity_relationships WHERE relationship='friend' AND guid_two=5 )) OR (m5.access_id IN (2,1) OR (m5.owner_guid = 5) OR ( m5.access_id = 0 AND m5.owner_guid = 5 ) ) and m5.enabled='yes') and ( (m6.access_id = -2 AND m6.owner_guid IN ( SELECT guid_one FROM test_entity_relationships WHERE relationship='friend' AND guid_two=5 )) OR (m6.access_id IN (2,1) OR (m6.owner_guid = 5) OR ( m6.access_id = 0 AND m6.owner_guid = 5 ) ) and m6.enabled='yes') order by obj.title limit 0, 10 this is the query that i am running.
