  • Workaround for starting zabbix agent on Ubuntu. update-rc.d LSB mismatch

    - by bryan kennedy
I am trying to run the zabbix-agent (1.8.1) on boot on Ubuntu (lucid 10.04). Zabbix is installed just fine, and it manually starts just fine with /etc/init.d/zabbix-agent start However it doesn't start on boot, because when I run: sudo update-rc.d zabbix-agent default I get: update-rc.d: warning: zabbix-agent start runlevel arguments (none) do not match LSB Default-Start values (2 3 4 5) update-rc.d: warning: zabbix-agent stop runlevel arguments (none) do not match LSB Default-Stop values (0 1 6) After googling around I found some cryptic information about this being a possible bug with Zabbix's startup scripts, but I can't find a workaround. I'm trying to understand how the update-rc.d system works, but I'm not getting very far. How can I modify this setup to start the zabbix-agent on startup?

  • Kindle Fire: PopupMenu$OrientationChangeListener leak

    - by dokkaebi
I have a little popup menu that anchors on a button in the action bar. This works well on 3.0/3.1 Xoom and Galaxy tabs, and a 4.1 Nexus 7. However, on a 7" Fire HD (this one), I get an error about a leaked intent receiver when exiting the application. The error occurs only if the menu was not opened during that run. There is no mention of OrientationChangeListener in the one copy of the source I've found; I suspect Amazon has a different implementation. Questions: Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know of a workaround or a fix? (Where) can I find Amazon's source code? Finally, (shudder) how important is it that I don't leak a receiver on application exit? Here is the menu xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <menu xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:id="@+id/menu_profile" android:title="@string/menu_item_profile" ></item> <item android:id="@+id/menu_logout" android:title="@string/menu_item_logout" ></item> </menu> This is where I register it: @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { super.onCreateOptionsMenu(menu); MenuInflater inflater = getMenuInflater(); inflater.inflate(R.menu.main_menu, menu); MenuItem login = menu.findItem(R.id.menu_login); Button button = (Button) login.getActionView().findViewById(R.id.login); button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { profileMenu.show(); } }); // profileMenu is an instance field profileMenu = new PopupMenu(this, button); inflater.inflate(R.menu.profile_menu, profileMenu.getMenu()); profileMenu.setOnMenuItemClickListener(new PopupMenu.OnMenuItemClickListener() { public boolean onMenuItemClick(MenuItem item) { // there was code here, but I removed it all and the problem persists return false; } }); return true; } Here is the full stack trace: 10-21 20:55:28.461: E/ActivityThread(4526): Activity **.app.ListActivity has leaked IntentReceiver android.widget.PopupMenu$OrientationChangeListener@422d77e0 that was originally registered here. • lightweight/portable VCS for server-hopping DBA?

    - by Aaron
I'm looking for a VCS that'll help me keep all of my work scripts in-sync. Requirements: Portable (as in flash drive, not code-level) Run on Windows XP and Server 2003+ No installation dependencies (Cygwin, perl, Python) I use Mercurial on my work machine for version control of the various T-SQL, ksh, perl, and CMD/BAT scripts that I maintain as a MS SQL Server DBA and Unix sysadmin. So far, hg has worked for my AIX boxes- I mount my home directory as I login, and deal with the repo as if it were local. I haven't been able to find a similar solution for the Windows machines I use. Most of them I do not have Local Admin rights; even if I did, I'd rather not install (and maintain) Python + Mercurial on all of them. I can't get to my home directory on them remotely, which leaves a client running on each machine as the only option. Bonus points for an answer that would let me use a single repo for both the Windows and Unix machines. :) I'm running WinXP, with heavy use of Cygwin and a CrunchBang VM.

  • SCOM 2012 DNS Forwarder Availability Monitor

    - by Massimo
Background: I have an environment with two different AD domains, each in its own forest, each with two Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controllers acting as DNS servers. There is no trust between the domains. Each DNS server manages the main DNS zone for its AD domain, and then some other zones, including the reverse lookup zone for its IP subnets; all zones are AD-integrated; all DNS servers which manages a zone are correctly listed as authoritative name servers for that zone. So, the situation is like this (using fake names and IP addresses): Domain A: DNS domain: a.dom IP subnet: 192.168.1.X DC/DNS Servers: serverA1.a.dom (192.168.1.1) and serverA2.a.dom (192.168.1.2) Authoritative zones: a.dom, 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa, somezone.local Domain B: DNS domain: b.dom IP subnet: 10.0.0.X DC/DNS Servers: serverB1.b.dom (10.0.0.1) and serverB2.b.dom (10.0.0.2) Authoritative zones: b.dom, 0.0.10.in-addr.arpa, someotherzone.local DNS servers in domain A have conditional forwarders defined for each zone managed by DNS servers in domain B, forwarding to both domain B's DNS servers; DNS servers in domain B have the opposite configuration. All forwarders are stored in Active Directory. All is working perfectly, and computers in each domain can resolve forward and reverse DNS queries for both domains, using their domain's DNS servers. The problem: I have SCOM 2012 deployed in domain A, with the SCOM agent installed on both DCs; the management packs for Active Directory and DNS Server are installed and up-to-date. I have a series of alerts like the following ones on both domain controllers; each alert is generated for each forwarded zone and for each forwarded server: Forwarder someotherzone.local (10.0.0.1) cannot resolve the host name 192.168.1.1,someotherzone.local for serverA1.a.dom Forwarder someotherzone.local (10.0.0.2) cannot resolve the host name 192.168.1.1,someotherzone.local for serverA1.a.dom Forwarder someotherzone.local (10.0.0.1) cannot resolve the host name 192.168.1.2,someotherzone.local for serverA2.a.dom Forwarder someotherzone.local (10.0.0.2) cannot resolve the host name 192.168.1.2,someotherzone.local for serverA2.a.dom Forwarder 0.0.10.in-addr.arpa (10.0.0.1) cannot resolve the host name 192.168.1.1,0.0.10.in-addr.arpa for serverA1.a.dom Forwarder 0.0.10.in-addr.arpa (10.0.0.2) cannot resolve the host name 192.168.1.1,0.0.10.in-addr.arpa for serverA1.a.dom Forwarder 0.0.10.in-addr.arpa (10.0.0.1) cannot resolve the host name 192.168.1.2,0.0.10.in-addr.arpa for serverA2.a.dom Forwarder 0.0.10.in-addr.arpa (10.0.0.2) cannot resolve the host name 192.168.1.2,0.0.10.in-addr.arpa for serverA2.a.dom The only exception is the main AD DNS zone managed by domain B's DNS servers (b.dom): for that conditional forwarder, no alert is generated and the forwarder availability monitor is green. Ok, what does this mean? What are those monitors trying to tell me? What are they checking? What's actually wrong? And why there is no error for the "b.dom" zone, which is configured in the exact same way as the other ones, both as a zone in domain B's DNS servers and as a forwarder in domain A's DNS servers?

  • Site-to-site VPN using MD5 instead of SHA and getting regular disconnection

    - by Steven
We are experiencing some strange behavior with a site-to-site IPsec VPN that goes down about every week for 30 minutes (Iam told 30 minutes exactly). I don't have access to the logs, so it's difficult to troubleshoot. What is also strange is that the two VPN devices are set to use SHA hash algorithm but apparently end up agreeing to use MD5. Does anybody have a clue? or is this just insufficient information? Edit: Here is an extract of the log of one of the two VPN devices, which is a Cisco 3000 series VPN concentrator. 27981 03/08/2010 10:02:16.290 SEV=4 IKE/41 RPT=16120 xxxxxxxx IKE Initiator: New Phase 1, Intf 2, IKE Peer xxxxxxxx local Proxy Address xxxxxxxx, remote Proxy Address xxxxxxxx, SA (L2L: 1A) 27983 03/08/2010 10:02:56.930 SEV=4 IKE/41 RPT=16121 xxxxxxxx IKE Initiator: New Phase 1, Intf 2, IKE Peer xxxxxxxx local Proxy Address xxxxxxxx, remote Proxy Address xxxxxxxx, SA (L2L: 1A) 27986 03/08/2010 10:03:35.370 SEV=4 IKE/41 RPT=16122 xxxxxxxx IKE Initiator: New Phase 1, Intf 2, IKE Peer xxxxxxxx local Proxy Address xxxxxxxx, remote Proxy Address xxxxxxxx, SA (L2L: 1A) [… same continues for another 15 minutes …] 28093 03/08/2010 10:19:46.710 SEV=4 IKE/41 RPT=16140 xxxxxxxx IKE Initiator: New Phase 1, Intf 2, IKE Peer xxxxxxxx local Proxy Address xxxxxxxx, remote Proxy Address xxxxxxxx, SA (L2L: 1A) 28096 03/08/2010 10:20:17.720 SEV=5 IKE/172 RPT=1291 xxxxxxxx Group [xxxxxxxx] Automatic NAT Detection Status: Remote end is NOT behind a NAT device This end IS behind a NAT device 28100 03/08/2010 10:20:17.820 SEV=3 IKE/134 RPT=79 xxxxxxxx Group [xxxxxxxx] Mismatch: Configured LAN-to-LAN proposal differs from negotiated proposal. • WCF listenBacklog and maxConnections can't be set higher than 10. Why not?

    - by NeedWCFPro
My service works great under low load. But under high load I start to get connection errors. I know about other settings but I am trying to change the listenBacklog parameter in particular for my TCP Buffered binding. If I set listenBacklog="10" I am able to telnet into the port where my WCF service is running. If I change listenBacklog to anything higher than 10 it will not let me telnet into my service when it is running. No errors seem to be thrown. What can I do? I get the same problem when I change my maxConnections away from 10. All other properties of the binding I can set higher without a problem. Here is what my binding looks like: <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding name="NetTcpBinding_IMyService" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" transactionFlow="false" transferMode="Buffered" transactionProtocol="OleTransactions" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" listenBacklog="10" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxBufferSize="1048576" maxConnections="10" maxReceivedMessageSize="1048576"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="2147483647" maxNameTableCharCount="2147483647" /> <reliableSession ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00" enabled="false" /> <security mode="Transport"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows" protectionLevel="EncryptAndSign"> </transport> <message clientCredentialType="Windows" /> </security> </binding> ... I really need to increase the values of maxConnections and listenBacklog

  • Silverlight 4 HttpWebRequest user agent string is null

    - by Dan B
The problem I have a page with a silverlight object. It attempts to retrieve XML from the page. But I am struggling with a security exception. I have this code working brilliantly in WPF. When using a website hosting a silverlight application with the same code, the user agent string of the HttpRequest object is null (and seemingly cannot be set). In fact there is no header information at all - this causes a security exception when attempting to make my asynchronous call. The question Why is the user-agent string (and header information) null in my silverlight 4 application when making an asynchronous call using HttpWebRequest? Thanks in advance!

  • How to detect Java agents, JVMTI, etc...

    - by Andrew Westberg
How does one secure the Java environment when running on a machine you don't control? What is to stop someone from creating a java agent or native JVMTI agent and dumping bytecode or re-writing classes to bypass licensing and/or other security checks? Is there any way to detect if any agents are running from Java code? From JNI? From a JVMTI agent?

  • Running pl/sql in Korn Shell(AIX)

    - by learner135
I have a file to execute in Ksh written by someone. It has a set of commands to execute in sqlplus. It starts with, sqlplus -s $UP <<- END followed by a set of ddl commands such as create, drop, etc., When I execute the file in the shell, I get the error in the starting line quoted above. I understand "-s" starts the sqlplus in silent mode and $UP is the connection string with username/password. But I couldn't make heads or tails of "<<- END" part(Many sites from google says input redirection is "<<" not "<<-"). So I presumed the error must be in that part and removed it from the file. Now it reads, sqlplus -s $UP But once I execute the file, It waits for input from the shell, instead of reading the rest of the lines from the file. How would I make sqlplus to execute the ddl commands in the rest of the file?. Thanks in advance.

  • How to re-add a RAID-10 failed drive on Ubuntu?

  • RAID 10 or RAID 5 for multiple VMs - what is the best choice?

    - by Lars Fastrup
I have just ordered a new rig for my business. We do a lot of software development for Microsoft SharePoint and need the rig to run several virtual machines for development and test purposes. We will be using the free VMware ESXi for virtualization. For a start, we plan to build and start the following VMs - all with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64: Active Directory server MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Automated Build Server SharePoint 2010 Server for hosting our public Web site and our internal Intranet for a few people. The load on this server is going to be quite insignificant. 2xSharePoint 2007 development server 2xSharePoint 2010 development server Beyond that we will need to build several SharePoint farms for testing purposes. These VMs will only be started when needed. The specs of the new rig is: Dell R610 rack server 2xIntel XEON E5620 48GB RAM 6x146GB SAS drives Dell H700 RAID controller We believe the new server is going to make our VMs perform a lot better than our existing setup (2xIntel XEON, 16GB RAM, 2x500 GB SATA in RAID 1). But we are not sure about the RAID level for the new rig. Should we go for having the the 6x146GB SAS drives in a RAID 10 configuration or a RAID 5 configuration? RAID 10 seems to offer better write performance and lower risk of a RAID failure. But it comes at a cost of less drive space. Do we need RAID 10 or would RAID 5 also be a good choice for us?

  • Visit neighbor of a position in a 2d-array

    - by Martin
    I have the following two dimensional array: static int[,] arr = new int[5, 5] { { 00, 00, 00, 01, 00 }, { 00, 00, 01, 01, 00 }, { 00, 00, 01, 01, 00 }, { 00, 00, 01, 01, 00 }, { 00, 00, 00, 01, 00 }, }; I have to a implement a method called Hit(int x, int y). When we hit a 0 in the array (i.e. Hit(0, 0), Hit(1, 1), but not Hit(3, 0)) I would like all the adjacent zeros to the zero we hit to be incremented by 10. So if I call Hit(1, 1), the array should become the following. static int[,] arr = new int[5, 5] { { 10, 10, 10, 01, 00 }, { 10, 10, 01, 01, 00 }, { 10, 10, 01, 01, 00 }, { 10, 10, 01, 01, 00 }, { 10, 10, 10, 01, 00 }, }; Any idea how I could implement that? It sounds to me like a Depth First Search/Recursive sort-of algorithm should do the job, but I haven't been able to implement it for an 2d array. Thanks for the help!

  • Cocoa Launch agent registering itself after installation.

    - by Unicorn
I have created Cocoa app which is type of launch agent. To distribute this I have created package as well which installs the app and copies the launchagnet plist file in /Libraries/LaunchAgents. Now the problem is after installation i want this app to be running in user context immediately without logoff/restart. If I register this with "launchctl" from installer, using post install script, it run in root context, as installer is running in root context. Any suggestion how the agent registers itself to launchctl and runs in user context.
