    In case you will be working on a page that needs to validate the first character of the TextBox entered by a user then here are two options that you can use: Option 1: Using an array   1: <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent" runat="server"> 2: <script type="text/javascript"> 3: function CheckFirstChar(o) { 4: var arr = ['A', 'B', 'C', 'D']; 5: if (o.value.length > 0) { 6: for (var i = 0; i < arr.length; i++) { 7: if (o.value.charAt(0) == arr[i]) { 8: alert('Valid'); 9: return true; 10: } 11: else { 12: alert('InValid'); 13: return false; 14: } 15: } 16: } 17: } 18: </script> 19: </asp:Content> 20: <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> 21: <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" onblur="return CheckFirstChar(this);"></asp:TextBox> 22: </asp:Content>   The example above uses an array of string for storing the list of  characters that a TextBox value should start with. This will check if the TextBox value starts with A,B,C or D. Please note that it's case sensitive. If you want to allow lower case then you can alter the patter to this /^(A|B|C|D)/i.   • Clicking links in pdfs opened with Okular opens Abiword (instead of the default browser)

    I work with Xubuntu 12.04 and use Okular (version 0.14.3) to view pdf files. If I click a link in a pdf file (created with pdflatex using the hyperref package), Abiword is opened instead of my default browser google-chrome. How can I change this behavior? The settings in Okular do not seem to provide a solution. (Note that I set google-chrome as the preferred application for web browsing under Settings - Preferred Applications, so that's not the problem).

  • Cannot install wine on Ubuntu natty 64bit [broken dependency]

    I've just installed Ubuntu natty 64bit. Now I'm trying to install wine and no matter how I do it (Software center/synaptic/terminal), it fails. Here's what I tried on terminal: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install wine It shows: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.   • Ubuntu stuck, goes black and comes to login screen

    I'm using normally the ubuntu, version: ~$ cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=13.10 DISTRIB_CODENAME=saucy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 13.10" And so, for no reason, the screen goes black and come back to login screen. This not happen on login screen, like login screen infinite loop problem. I get the login and use it normally then suddenly the screen goes black. I was using Ubuntu 14 and for this problem I formatted and installed Ubuntu 13, but the problem remains.

    SPMetal is used to make use of LINQ on a list in SharePoint 2010. By default when you generate SPMetal on a site you will get a code generated file for most of the lists and probably more. Here is a MSDN link for some info on SPMetal.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee538255(office.14).aspxBut what if you want only to generate the code for one list?Well it is quite simple once you figure it out. You need to add an xml file to override the default settings of SPMetal and specify it in the /parameters option. I will show you how to do this.First create a Folder that will contain two files (GenerateSPMetalCode.bat and SPMetal.xml).Below is the content of the files:GenerateSPMetalCode.bat "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN\SPMetal" /web:http://YourServer /code:OutPutFileName.cs /language:csharp /parameters:SPMetal.xml pause SPMetal.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Web AccessModifier="Internal" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SharePoint/2009/spmetal"> <List Name="ListName"> <ContentType Name="ContentTypeName" Class="GeneratedClassName" /> </List> <ExcludeOtherLists></ExcludeOtherLists> </Web> You will have to change some of the text in the files so that it will be specific to your SharePoint Server Setup. In the bat file you will have to change http://YourServer to the url of the web where your list is. In the SPMetal.xml file you need to change ListName to the name of your list and the ContentTypeName to the name of the content type you want to extract. The GeneratedClassName can be anything but perhaps you should rename it to something more sensible.Adding the following line: '<List Name="ListName"><ContentType Name="ContentTypeName" Class="GeneratedClassName" /> </List>'  makes sure that any custom columns added to an OOTB list like contacts or tasks are also generated, which are missed out in a regular generation.So now when you run it the SPMetal command will read the SPMetal.xml list and override its commands. ExcludeOtherLists element makes it so that only the code for the lists you specify will be generated. For some reason I got an error if I had this element above the List element.You sould now have a code file called OutPutFileName.cs that has been generated. You can now put this in your SharePoint project for use with your LINQ queries against that list.I will soon write a LINQ example that uses the generated class. UPDATE: Add the /namespace parameter to add a namespace to the generated code. "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN\SPMetal" /web:http://YourServer /namespace:MySPMetalNameSpace /code:OutPutFileName.cs /language:csharp /parameters:SPMetal.xml
