    Hi, I am trying to write an SQL query to update some of the attributes that are regularly pulled from source. the output will be a text file with the following fields: author, title, date, popularity I have two tables to update one is the author information and the other is popularity table. And the Author Active Record object has one popularity. Currently I'm doing it like this.\ arr.each { |x| x = x.split(" ") results = Author.find_by_sql("SELECT authors.id FROM authors, priorities WHERE authors.id=popularity.authors_id AND authors.author = x[0]") results[0].popularity.update_attribute("popularity", x[3]) I need two tables because the popularity keeps changing, and I need only the top 1000 popular ones, but I still need to keep the previously popular ones also. Is there any nicer way to do this, instead of one query for every new object. Thanks.

  • Need help with jQuery/AJAX call in Safari/Mac

    I've got something that works perfectly in FF and MSIE but it's not working properly in Safari. It's a form with selects that get updated via AJAX/jQuery from a MySQL DB. In Safari, when you select the first item, it correctly loads the options for the next select menu; however, when you choose one of those (which loads new options in a subsequent select menu), the whole form resets and is broken from that point on. Does anyone know of a Safari bug that would cause this?     Hi all, I'm trying to use JNA to talk over a USB device plugged into the computer. Using Java and a .dll that was provided to me. I am having trouble with the Write function: C code: typedef struct { unsigned int id; unsigned int timestamp; unsigned char flags; unsigned char len; unsigned char data[16]; } CANMsg; CAN_STATUS canplus_Write( CANHANDLE handle, //long CANMsg *msg ); Java Equivalent: public class CANMsg extends Structure{ public int id = 0; public int timestamp = 0; public byte flags = 0; public byte len = 8; public byte data[] = new byte[16]; } int canplus_Write(NativeLong handle, CANMsg msg); I have confirmed that I can open and close the device. The close requires the NativeLong handle, so i am assuming that the CANMsg msg is the issue here. I have also confirmed that the device works when tested with C only code. I have read the the JNA documentation thoroughly... I think. Any pointers. Thanks all.

    OK so I have a page which has a listview on it. Inside the item template of the listview is a usercontrol. This usercontrol is trying to trigger an event so that the hosting page can listen to it. My problem is that the event is not being triggered as the handler is null. (ie. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have tried setting EnableViewState to true for my listview but that hasn't made a difference. Is there somewhere else I'm supposed to be wiring up the control handler? Note - apologies if I've got my terminology wrong and I'm referring to delegates as handlers and such :)

Here is the quote Applying Double Dispatch to a Specific Problem To implement the game Rock, Paper, Scissors we need to write code that determines whether one object “beats” another. The game has nine possible outcomes based on the three kinds of objects. The number of interactions is the cross product of the kinds of objects. Case or switch statements are often governed by the type of data that is being operated on. The object-oriented language equivalent is to base its actions on the class of some other object.   • Help me plan larger Qt project

    I'm trying to create an automated task management system for our company, because they pay me to waste my time. New users will create a "profile", which will store all the working data (I guess serialize everything into xml rite?). A "profile" will contain many different tasks. Tasks are basically just standard computer janitor crap such as moving around files, reading/writing to databases, pinging servers, etc.). So as you can see, a task has many different jobs they do, and also that tasks should run indefinitely as long as the user somehow generates "jobs" for them. There should also be a way to enable/disable (start/pause) tasks. They say create the UI first so... I figure the best way to represent this is with a list-view widget, that lists all the tasks in the profile. Enabled tasks will be bold, disabled will be then when you double-click a task, a tab in the main view opens with all the settings, output, errors,. You can right click a task in the list-view to enable/disable/etc. So each task will be a closable tab, but when you close it just hides. My question is: should I extend from QAction and QTabWidget so I can easily drop tasks in and out of my list-view and tab bar? I'm thinking some way to make this plugin-based, since a lot of the plugins may share similar settings (like some of the same options, but different infos are input). Also, what's the best way to set up threading for this application?

So it must not be part of the result. Now I want a view that returns the content elements including the right order. The result could be: { "content" : ["second", "first"] } In this case the order of the elements is already as it should be.   • Trying to programmatically add a SQL Alias to the registry (just need help with parameters)

    Normally when we spin up a new instance we need to add an alias on one of our boxes so we can easily connect to it through SSMS using SQL Server Configuration Manager. I have written a batch file which adds the appropriate entry into the registry (it is actually two batch files, one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit). I am not sure how to get this to run with parameters though. I know %1 and %2 would be for the first two parameters, but when I run this, in the registry it actually puts %1 and %2 as the value pair. if you hardcode hostname and IP Address in place of %1 and %2 the batch file works as expected: REGEDIT4 ; @ECHO OFF ; CLS ; REGEDIT.EXE /S "%~f0" ; EXIT [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo] "%1"="DBMSSOCN,%2,1433"

    If you look here: http://creathive.net you will see I have an application form down at the bottom of the page and I have added some jQuery validation to make a user fills it out correctly. However what I would like to do is instead of showing all those labels next to the input boxes (which breaks the layout) is just keep it simple and only change the colours of the input fields.
