  • Restrict RDP port based on a Dynamic DNS

    Hi All, I want to set a restriction on my firewall (windows firewall on windows 2008) to only allow connections from a certain dynamic DNS. Is this possible? The reason I ask is that this would allow us to just change the IP on the dynamic DNS if our IP changes and means we won't get locked out of RDP. This also allows me to RDP in from other locations that have IP's that are not static by just changing the IP against the DNS. Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

  • One-Click Application Moving from WinForms to WPF

    I have a WinForms app that I recently re-wrote in WPF and I need to release to my end users. I'd like to be able to have the users go to the ClickOnce install point for the WPF application and have their WinForm application removed so they don't have both on their machine What's the best way (read: easiest for users) of accomplishing this? I have thought about creating an prereq command line app to detect the old version and uninstall, but would like to avoid having to write an something like that where it only get's run once.

  • How to Package and Deploy Eclipse Java Application

    Before I begin, I'm new to eclipse, please keep that in mind when replying. :) Here is the situation, I have built an java application that has some dependencies (~10 of them). I would like to easily package this application up and deploy it as a single file to a CD or usb drive. My question is there doesn't seem to be any "nice" wizard to search the project, grab the dependencies and setup the classpath on the target computer. Seems to me I have to do this manually. Is there a better way. Something simple, easy and straight forward. A link to a tutorial on this would be great. Seems to me that this should be a built-in feature to eclipse. Deployment of a web application seems easy enough, but not a java application. Thanks!

    I tried to answer the question from Mark: Keymap issues with NX from Mac OS X Lion to Ubuntu However, it is locked so I figured I would post a new question / answer. I have been trying to answer this for a few days now because I have no issues when connecting through NX Client (technically OpenNX) to FreeNX server from an iMac (with Lion), but if I try to connect with a Macbook Pro I get horrible keyboard binding issues. The fix that is working for me is to go into: ~/.nx/config/HOST.nxs and change: <option key="Current keyboard" value="false"/> <option key="Custom keyboard layout" value="empty"/> <option key="Grab keyboard" value="false"/> I have tried this on three NX Servers and all are fixed. Hope it helps or gets you closer.   • Developing Windows (Vista/7) Gadgets

    Apart from seeming a few, I don't know much about how gadgets work. Are they special applications, or regular apps with special styled windows? I can't think of any app I use which has asked me if I want to install a gadget... I'd have thought any application which is typically left running all the time would be suitable... Skype/MSN for example. Am I misunderstanding the point of gadgets, or are they not popular?

When peering into the System.Gadget.Flyout.document object through the debugger, the body parameter is null - I don't think that's right. The System.Gadget.Flyout.file value is being set elsewhere when the gadget first loads. What am I doing wrong? Also, does the System.Gadget.Flyout.show property have to be true before the System.Gadget.Flyout.document property can be accessed? My ultimate goal is to open a flyout and dynamically populate it's html

  • Application Freezing after some idle time

    Hello, I am developing a software using C# 2.0 which uses about 200MB of memory and occasionally high CPU. The problem is, when i am leaving my machine idle for about 20-30 mins with the application running, after i come back and try to use the application, it freezes for about 2 mins, then becomes interactive.     One of the things I like about Microsoft's RDC Client is that the resolution of the experience is set by the client and not, say, a physical monitor connected to the host, as is the case with VNC; the latter being the protocol used by Mac. This means that even though I'm connecting to a notebook with a 1280x800 physical resolution, via RDC I can run it at 2560x1600 on my 30" monitor. However, that only seems to work for RDC. Does anyone know of something I can run on the Mac that will allow me to remotely control it at a different resolution than what is physically set? TIA, Mark

    In C#,I'm using LumiSoft.Net.IMAP.Client library to connect to the imap server and I'm viewing my emails through that class library... I used it for more than 5 months. Now, when I tried to authenticate, it shows the following exception (even though the server is connected..) Server returned:CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UNSELECT LITERAL+ IDLE NAMESPACE QUOTA ID XLIST CHILDREN X-GM-EXT-1 UIDPLUS COMPRESS=DEFLATE I searched for this error. I came to know that the imap server protocol was changed so, this error occurs. Now, Wat I should do for that, whether to change my class library ?? Plz, help me...

  • Good development themes/environments for Gnome/kde/whatever?

    I've searched forever for good themes or customized versions of any type of x-server that is designed for development in terms of web productions/programming for all kind of stuffs. Features such as simplified workspace overviews, good tabbing support etc. For multimedia "UbuntuStudio" exists, and something like that but for programming instead. I know that it's possible to customize it by myself but I don't have the skills to make it all happen. Another reason why it's hard for me to customize it is that I simply do not know everything that would make it good for me. I've looked into gnome-shell and it has (according to me) superb workspace overview functions, but lacks in other spaces instead. Any help in finding a good solution for me in this case is appreciated. If some of you also have had this problem and found a solution that works for you, please tell me how you did :) Would love to solve this for once!

Even after coaching, users still tend to not understand how to use filters because AND OR = etc are foreign to them. This filter is easy for programmers since it is easily translated into code.   • Code Profiling in the Windows Sidebar Environment

    Does anyone know of a way I can code-profile my Windows Sidebar Gadget? I've played around with the code-profiling tool in IE8's "Developer Tools" and the code-profiling included in Visual Studio 2010, but I can't find a way to include the System.* API, which my gadget relies on (as it is standard in the Sidebar environment). The gadget also relies on cross-domain AJAX requests; which is normally permitted in the Sidebar environment.     I would like eventual interaction with MS Dynamics SL and/or MindTouch Core (running on WMware) for eventual intranet and/or internet display. I guess I am asking for front and back end recommendations for a database I am constructing, but since this is my first major project I would greatly appreciate any help and advice. I would also love an opportunity to learn a new language so the code base could be in any language. I do have a few more related questions for discussion; What is the viability of using Google hosting to provide the service to the public for free? Should I implement plone or another CMS if I have a large amount of output? Is there a structuring questionnaire or standards publication I could reference?
